LD23 — Tiny World

Kao by NebulaOrbit 2012-04-28T15:24:00

Shame you didn't get to finish this, I like the graphics and setting. It's not really clear what I'm supposed to do. Also how do I get health back? Combat is very hard because I seem to die. The game should probably go to the title screen instead of exiting to desktop. How do you make the hut in the screenshot? Are you going to carry on working on this?

ineptia by Sodaware 2012-05-13T16:12:00

Nice game, I like the idea and controls. Shame the movement was so slow, would have been nice to be able to speed it up. Was quite hard because the other robots are shooting at you too so you run out of health. Is there a way to restart after you die?

Le Petit by Pixelulsar 2012-04-28T22:03:00

I got to the part with the square disappearing blocks. This game is incredibly hard, but in a pixel and timing perfect way, which can get quite frustrating. I think the learning curve could have been a bit more gentle, like a sign showing to double jump and some easy spike parts before the crazy spike tunnel. Essentially it was 'If you can't get over the first wall, you can't play this game' :D for the masochist platform player only. That said, this is a very good one of those, I like the jump rings it's a nice mechanic. I kept forgetting you die from height (might be nice to point that out with a sign the first time). I might try again to see if I can get all the way through! Also, I liked the sound effects, but the music loop was a bit too short.

Asylum by Orni 2012-05-04T20:29:00

Took a long while to get started, but was interesting once it did! I love the concept and lo-fi graphics. I also liked how you displayed the slowly rotating text. It's a shame you ran out of time though I think it's very important for a game like this to have audio, hopefully you will make an expanded post Ludum Dare version.

Skully's Microscopic World by Skully 2012-05-13T16:48:00

Booya! I finally managed to complete it on easy! A couple things you could add are maybe a mini map/heat map. Another would be some kind of warning for when the bacteria are touching the wall. Although sometimes they seemed to spawn randomly as if they were touching the wall but I was being careful to not let them touch. I think the movement of the camera could be improved, maybe if you're in the centre.

ONLY US by Datamosh 2012-04-29T14:39:00

Really polished game. Loved it. I managed to get to the end. I saw a face in the rocks, nice touch!

Lost Lapootah by orgarus 2012-04-29T10:21:00

This game is crazy, I love the wacky humor. The game didn't say what to do but I quickly recognized that it was like Boxer Rebellion(Dos)/Brush Bros etc. So I got to work. I thought the ending was quite funny. Shame there was no sound, and my blob was getting stuck on the wall, but good work for the time limit!

Tiny Crash Landing by Ranoka 2012-04-23T00:53:00

Move with the arrow keys. You can shoot with 'z', but I ran out of time before adding enemies.

Tiny Crash Landing by Ranoka 2012-05-10T22:49:00

@Fireblend, ah I didn't realise it was the wrong link. I fixed the URL, hopefully something you find interesting. You will need to install NME for it to compile: http://www.haxenme.org/download/ The samples on that page are a good place to start too!

Tiny Island Adventure by AdventureIslands 2012-04-28T14:54:00

Congratulations for getting this done in 48 hours! This is one of the most complete games I've played so far, it even has end credits! I think the length of the game is just right for Ludum Dare.
I think the level design was a little frustrating at times, there were lots of tiny platforms to land on, I think the player slid too much for that. Having a mid checkpoint may have helped on a couple of the frustrating deaths. I liked the graphics, it's very bold and easy to read!
Great job, I'm sure your game will do well!

Tiny World Big War by dx0ne 2012-05-13T17:21:00

Endless war! I got the bar really close to full green, but couldn't get it full. Air strike was a lot of fun. I got confused by the little skull and crossbones, thought it meant my man was dying or was poisoned, I'm assuming it actually meant he was top rank? Great job, shame there's no music or cute little voices (but with that many guns/deaths the sfx would probably get really annoying).

Pale Blue Dot by tametick 2012-04-28T16:56:00

This game is one of the best I've played for gameplay wise! I enjoyed experimenting and learning how to play from trial and error. The game ramps up very quickly! The graphics and audio is simple but suits the design well. Where's the source?

gravity by Rémi 2012-05-04T17:33:00

This entry is very strong! It fits the theme well and is quite a unique game design. It's also very polished too! It's quite hard, but the short game rounds lead to a 'one more go' feel :D Top entry!

Tiny Neutrino by Scott Baker 2012-04-28T21:31:00

I like the concept, the graphics are nice too. It feels a little uncontrollable, but I guess that's part of the design. I think my neutrino managed to fall out of the game world, or got stuck in the wall. Pretty fun, but wasn't compelled to play it for too long maybe because it felt a bit easy/random. Would have been more interesting if you started off as a really big atom from the start.

The Tiny Gryphalope by bytegrove 2012-04-28T18:33:00

Really lovely graphics! Amazing how much you got done in the time, I'm not sure how well it fits the theme though. I found it hard to see the enemies as they approached. Lovely model on the title screen!

Lemming Apocalypto by 10WonXero10 2012-04-29T14:03:00

I love Lemmings, but maybe it would have been better to make up your own character. Feels like the game is a little unfinished with just one long stretch of ground with other Lemmings that you get stuck on, but I did get to the end (after the princess died). Is it possible to get to the end on time?

Download Incomplete by trq 2012-05-13T15:40:00

Really nice game, very well presented, has a good level of polish. I found collecting all the bytes a little tedious. The physics and controls felt a little bit off, but can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe his walking and flying speed were different, and the gravity felt a bit strong. Love the graphics and idea, very strong!

The Sheep Are Sinking by Gremlin 2012-04-28T19:47:00

Nice game! The controls can get a little fiddly when you're trying to move the dog to scare wolves and draw paths to save sheep (and rotate the camera). I like the idea, it's really fun! The sheep don't seem to drown though?

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-13T10:03:00

I really liked the simplicity of this one, nice concept. I like how the game adapts each frame almost to combat different techniques I was coming up with which kept it interesting. I made it all the way through! Thanks for making this game for us to play!

Little Biyubi by edbadiux 2012-04-29T12:30:00

Really nice game, felt complete. It was hard though, I got to the skull boss, but didn't manage to knock any of them off. Loved the retro 3D graphics and sound. Judging the double jumps was quite hard, and I think the tiny window game a headache from concentrating on it :D

Lililput by Incredible Ape 2012-05-13T12:18:00

Nice Jam entry, liked the idea and execution. Was quite hard, especially since the words were jumbled. I was trying to figure out if there was a story, but made it even harder trying to figure out what it was saying :D

The Collector by blob 2012-04-29T11:40:00

This is one of my favorite entries so far! This game has a lot of potential to be really good with more polish. I loved the idea, I think it fits the theme well. The game was a bit too hard, and the level design could be tightened up, there were a lot of big drops and open areas, was hard to navigate around. Also was easy to get to an area where you were too weak to capture or defeat the enemies. The audio was a little lackluster, but it's amazing how much you got done in the time!

Fracuum by TylerGlaiel 2012-04-28T17:04:00

This game is great, I remember seeing an early version when there were no enemies and though it was good, but it's even better now. I also really liked the boss! Great job! Also, nice timeline code :P

The Spaceman by malec2b 2012-04-28T15:40:00

I really like this game but I didn't manage to finish it. It's very hard. At first you have to explore until you build a mental map of the area, I managed to get both of the crystals into the pedestals but died before getting back to the exit. I love the idea, graphics and audio. Really good job on getting this much done in one day!

Planet Life by Sos 2012-04-28T15:30:00

How do you make games so fast?! This game is one of the most complete and polished I've seen! Great graphics and audio, also unique game. I think more people should keep getting added so there's always people to compete with. Also, may an indication on which place to go to, like "Operate" or "Fish 90% off!", or maybe a green arrow pointing which way to go. Amazing job!

Tiny Galaxy by Robert Swan 2012-05-13T16:02:00

Nice game, good presentation and customisation with the menu and mouse inverting options. Really liked the low-fi 3D graphics. The exploration and item collection felt a bit trial and error, but very fun over all.

T in Y World by Tom 7 2012-05-13T17:39:00

No princess? :( Really nice game! Impressed that you managed to make the game and get so much content in it for the time limit.

Haxe Planets by jfroco 2012-05-04T09:33:00

Nice little game you made, nice to see you using Haxe! Nice one button platformer, with GameBoy style palette and iPhone style orientation. The alien at the top of the first screen was really hard to get past!

Interstellar Moai Ranger by Shifty 2012-05-13T11:08:00

I almost gave up, I thought the game was broken. But I replayed with the quality setting set to Fantastic ant it worked. I really love the music in this, I think it makes a huge difference. I found it quite hard but I managed to kill the boss with 1 life left! I liked how it gets dark when you're on the other side of the planet.

Rambros by Black Ships Fill the Sky 2012-05-13T11:23:00

The graphics were the best part of this game! Really nice. The audio was strong too. The destructible ground was a fun gameplay element. I loved the selection of different characters, and the wall climbing. The actual game was a big frustrating, I kept getting shot by enemies I couldn't see and getting hit when it looked like I hadn't been hit. Also the game was running really choppy so I was getting killed because of the refresh sometimes.

dLeIaFtEh by Cell 2012-04-28T18:02:00

Great job for only 5 hours. Would have been nice to have had a bigger game, or maybe more interactive/animated environment. Not sure I get the ending.

Wunderworld by ratking 2012-04-28T16:22:00

Great game, amazing accomplishment. Shame you didn't have time to put some starting levels in the LD version. The editor is very intuitive and easy to use! I also really like the ultra low-poly style graphics.

Planetline by SSJMetroid 2012-05-04T17:50:00

Nice game you made, I like the idea, graphics, and how you run around the planet. Gets a bit confusing to control when he's upside down. The character was a bit difficult to control, which made doing jumps between small platforms a bit hard. I got stuck on the bit where there was a vertical ladder made of small gaps with the exit ontop.

Obsolescence by quickfingers 2012-05-13T17:09:00

Amazing work, very impressed that you got this made within 24 hours! The visuals and music were very good! The game was a bit simplistic, wasn't very hard to find the other planets, but really nice concept and very well presented!

Cloud Realm by Hempuli 2012-04-28T22:48:00

I really like this game, I haven't managed to kill the sky serpent yet, but I'll have another go. I did manage to bomb him one. The controls are quite tricky, I had to read it a couple of times to work out what I needed to do. This game oozes atmosphere and has a strong contrast in scale!

Breathe by mcc 2012-04-27T20:41:00

I'm trying to download the Windows version, but it appears your site is down. You could upload the files to a public dropbox folder. I'm going to check back in a couple days to see if it's up again!

Breathe by mcc 2012-04-28T16:11:00

I came back and it seems to be working again.
Note to others, move with the arrow keys!
I tried playing it a few times but was trying to play with the mouse, then I tried pressing every key, but it seems you use the arrows. Some hint somewhere would be useful.
Very interesting experimental entry, I played it a few times to take in the experience.
I'm not really sure how this fits with the theme though. Thanks for sharing!

Niña Nueve by Jonathan Whiting 2012-05-04T21:48:00

I really like this entry, very nice design for such a small grid! Very well presented, even had bosses and an end sequence! Also had quite a few levels. Nicely polished.

Inside My Radio by TurboDindon 2012-05-13T12:03:00

This entry is amazing, very polished game, feels more complete than most LD Jam entries. It got very hard for me, I got stuck on the bit with the small blinking platforms and moving electric razors, I couldn't get the right timing. One of the best games I've seen so far.

Craemle Zone by PsySal 2012-04-28T16:37:00

Nice game! It's very odd and unique, haven't seen any entries like this one. I also think it should have more attention than it's got so far.

ONLY DUST by kato9 2012-04-29T13:50:00

Love the graphic style of the art, but the animation was a little rigid. The jetpack looked more like walking through the air. Interesting narrative, was quite easy but interesting enough to play all the way through. Was hard to tell what were walls and what were passages at time. I loved the music! Good job!

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-05-13T15:24:00

This game is a great accomplishment for the timelimit! you even had a tutorial. I really liked the idea, it was quite a fun relaxing game. At one point I ran out of fuel, but managed to land on a planet, get a seed and carry on :D

All That Are Lost Will Be Found by R3ason 2012-04-29T13:35:00

Nice game! I found it hard, wasn't very good at navigating the space. I ended up getting surrounded by those monsters, it was if they were combining into a big demon or something.

Nano Commander by SmallDeadGuy 2012-04-28T16:48:00

Great job with the game! You have quite a complete entry, I think most of the improvements I would like to see are based on improving unit control and maybe balancing/ being able to build/buy new units during the level. Very impressive for 48 hours!

No Space by Steven Colling 2012-04-28T15:17:00

Congrats on making this game in 48 hours, I think it's quite an accomplishment! I like the presentation with the computer talking to the player, the game mechanic is quite unique too! I found it hard to play at first because I didn't realise using the jetpack while carrying minerals had a huge penalty! This game is hard because I either ran out of time or energy and the game has permadeath! An improvement you could make is making the planets more round, currently they're square. Great job!

It's a tab by brackcurly 2012-05-13T11:34:00

This entry is incredible, I hadn't thought of making a game in the tab icon! For a while I wondered if it was working/where the game was. My eyes are hurting now though, and I didn't have the patience to get across the moving lava part, I kept dying at the end. Amazing!

Godly by Diventurer 2012-05-04T13:10:00

Nice beginning of a game, I had to play it a few times to figure out how to build power generators (you have to form water), but I don't understand how the humans control them (I think I had a bug, I had 1 human but around 10 generators), didn't seem to have any connection for me. Felt like a bit of a losing battle :D
I didn't hear the music, I'm not sure what the .it format is so couldn't preview them in explorer. Hope you make another God game in the future!

Crashed on Minutiae Prime by zuurr 2012-04-28T19:09:00

Thanks for the review, your game IS quite similar to mine. I like that you got your map generation working, it works well. I like the mouse control, it's intuitive. Shame there is no sound. I had a look at the code, I have no idea how to read ClojureScript!

Planet 161 by saint11 2012-04-28T17:22:00

Really nice game, it's got a good level of polish and being a complete game. Also good you found time to do level design. I got stuck on "I hope I'm near the escape pod". The music does get a bit annoying after a bit. I'm sure this game will do well over all!

Merlin, Build Me a Castle by ChrisWhitman 2012-04-28T16:31:00

You managed to get a lot done in the time limit, I like the art and idea! Sound effects are fun too. Would have been fun to have a computer player to play against, I'm sure you had that idea but run out of time! Music would be good too.

Itty Bitty Boxy Thingy by dem0 2012-05-13T10:22:00

Nice little Sokoban game you made. I liked the addition of the robots. The levels got quite complex after a bit. The main thing I was wanting for was some kind of indicator for boxes that were in the correct place, with the larger levels it was easy to forget which blocks were in place already. The tiny graphics make it hard to play for long.

Tiny Quest by lorancou 2012-05-13T12:11:00

Haha, I got there in the end without cheating. Didn't realise you had to start again each time he said "Blimey" but after I got that I figured it out :D

Flyspeck by amodo 2012-05-13T10:40:00

Nice little point and click adventure game. Got lost for a bit because I didn't know where in space to click (right edge). For people who are wondering, there is an end screen.
