Good challenge - I got to level 3, though. It was tough keeping the flashlight going in the direction I wanted it to go. Good idea, though.

Nice technology but found the game a bit slow. I didn't actually notice there were spinning things for a while. Cool look game though.

Cool idea, flashlight key should have been closer to WASD though. The bad key placement ended up in the game going faster if i just blindly ran through rather than stopped moving and checked my surroundings with the flashlight.

Love it. Especially the 'frosting' effect of the flash light. Can you tell I'm hungry?

Interesting! Level 8 is pretty tricky, but I really like the visuals. It would have been nice if the graphics were matched by some atmospheric background music.
Nice take on the theme. :)

Cool game. I really like how the walls look.

Really like the feel and graphics. Had a good time. Somehow I didn't find the mouse to be very useful at aiming the flashlight--when my mouse left the game window it caused problems, but since the light is relative to the character you have to keep moving it to keep it in a certain direction. I almost think having the flashlight correspond to absolute position on the board (e.g. when the mouse is at "three o clock" it always points east) might have been better. Also, some tense music would have been great. Very original and cool feel though. Great first game!

I love the look and feel of the game, though can't work out what the 'recall walls' thing does.

It would be easier if the flashlight toggle was on 'F' rather than 'L' so it's nearer to WASD. Some sort of music that fits with the visuals would also be a good addition.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I understand the "L" key placement was a bad choice, and also the "recall walls" feature is largely useless for this game, but maybe for a larger game where you can proceed through a massive building, it could be helpful.

And I simply just did not have enough time to get the music done to a decent level, so decided to leave it out. I had just started doing sound effects (The only one there is the time countdown after 5 seconds).

This one nails the "lost in the dark"-motif that's been tried before. The flashlight-battery empties very fast, the flickering is awesome, and the reflecting walls work very well.

Great idea, but needed things to keep it fresh. The recall was a great idea, it would've been nice if you could make it more useful.

Idea of remembering walls is very nice, although mostly useless, but it could be used as one of the keystones for a specific gameplay. With some polish and some other features (currently it really is boring, I quit after third level) this could work quite well.

Very slick. I'm not sure what the L or mouse-click did for me. Would have much preferred to have a checkpoint system so I didn't have to start over. The arrow keys didn't work for me, so my first death was from timing out while I changing my keyboard layout back from dvorak. All of these are minor complaints though. Overall, this was really well done. Bravo! :)

I think you did a good job implementing it, but I feel like this mechanic is overdone in LD. I feel like I've played this game before. Sorry, that's just how I feel!

I got to level 8. There were a couple of tense times where I made it out of the level with less than 2 seconds to spare. That was kind of cool. I think the challenge level was just about right, though I imagine the replay isn't so great once you've seen all the mazes.

krang213 2011-09-04 04:04

Well executed, I very much liked the mechanic. Got to Level 7. Never did use the "L" key to turn my light on/off, nor did I remember walls. Still, a nicely made game, add some enemies or something and I can see this being a solid horror game :)
