Really interesting premise! Could be a huge time sink, in a good way.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD29 → You are now the Dungeon!

Really interesting premise! Could be a huge time sink, in a good way.
oooh, I do like the idea of a dungeon-tycoon-kind of deal that's going on here!
I've always been a fan of games such as dungeon keeper or populous, and that's what your game is reminding me of. Durning the playthrough I've thought that most of the dungeons in the games follow the pattern of beeing dangerous, but still inviting for the adventures who are seeking experience and loot, probably to level up just like it happens here! There's a small bug in opening the room actions window when the room is close to the border. It makes it difficult to see the window options then. Deserved top mark for the innovation.
I liked it. Everything fit together, and I like the concept. Everything was really tiny, and I couldn't zoom in because I didn't have a mouse wheel.
Interesting concept, I really liked how the two currencies were tied to both the success and failure of the adventurers.
Really liked this idea as a fan of Dungeon Keeper, the music is quite good as well.
Easily the most unique idea I've come across this far, kudos! Expand this thina a pinch and maybe up the resolution a bit and I could easily see myself paying good money for this.
Great game. I'm a little biased to dungeon economy games like this, so I already liked it during the tutorial. I don't know how I feel about the leveling mechanic though. It's different, I'll give it that.
This is great, a sort of dungeon keeper, but with an incentive to keep the heroes alive! It can become a bit stale for certain parts, but I like it a lot!
Management game? Awesome!
I think the core game concept here is great, and the interface works very well. The only thing that irks me a bit is that it doesn't feel properly balanced. You can build more or less everything off the bat, and the dungeon either turns out too easy or too hard. Since there's no way to lose either, it lacks a bit of tension.
Might be me misunderstanding something, but the heroes seem very likely to just hang out around the entrance?
(Sorry if this sounded overtly negative. I enjoyed it, and writing this because I want to see it tweaked and envolved. Also, I really like the music!)
Thanks for the feedback so far! We had a lot of fun developing the concepts and wish we had more time during the compo to add in some more ideas we had. I can't speak for seth at the moment but I definitely will be developing this further.
@Cryovat Thanks for the comment! I actually spent a full 10 hours just balancing and re-balancing the game and I still felt like it was too jumpy like you mentioned. Also, the hero movement algorithm needs a lot of work, which could cause them to hang out in the same 3 rooms for a while.
Thank you all again for the comments and I'd love to hear more! If you're interested in playing future versions of this game, follow me on twitter and I'll keep you all in the loop (:
Good idea, although more varieties of nodes would be cool, but still, good job!
Interesting mechanics. I though that I must wipe out all the heroes to advance. Seems that I was wrong. Great game anyway, but more objective should make this game to be more fun. :)
