I like this game, the dimming light triggers a feeling of panic slightly :P
@Jayjay: Thanks for checking out the game mate! ;) Haha yeah gets sort of intense at times when you watch it slowly die :P
I like the atmosphere the ever dimming torch gives. Kinda makes me feel on a survival horror. The mechanics for the game are also very solid, could work well as the first dual-stick suvival horror, haha.
Good idea!
Can't run this unfortunately. Error message:
There should be 'reach_Data'
folder next to the executable
Although the reach_Data folder is there!
The light system is excellent! There is a bit of a learning curve when using the arrow controls to shoot. Perhaps just spacebar to shoot in the direction you're currently facing would be more intuitive.
@Sgehlich: That's weird... what platform did you try to run it on? I'll try to have a look at it then :) Thank you for trying it out though! I'm sorry about the error :(
@carlsommer: Thank you for the feedback! It is very much appreciated! About the controls, yeah it's a fun one that one. Some people prefer shooting in the direction you are simply facing, others do not. The reason I do not like that one is because I feel restricted in movement, if I want to be able to move about while keeping firing in one direction. I guess that is one of the "each to his own" things :) Though I could definitely attempt to implement control modes in a settings menu should I take this further.
Nice game! The dimming light makes it really tense. The movement was smooth.
Great job. The light fading was really effective at making me feel like I had to rush around everywhere. I'd like to see you develop this idea more.
@kevinAlbs and Atmospherium: Thank you both for the nice comments :) Thanks a lot for playing my entry!
Ok this is a damn hard game. The lighting effect is very interesting
keeping the torch alive was interesting, gives it a survival feeling. The controls were pretty clunky though and it's hard to hit the things.
I love the concept, only having a limited amount of time to see and try and kill the enemies before going to the next room is great. Fighting and moving wasn't that enjoyable, it felt kind of like you were just sliding about
nice idea, with a day/night cycle, collecting firewood, keeping stationary fires and of course wolves or demons circling you, then you'd be on to something. The mood is already there.
This is hard but playable. Nice torch effect and smooth gameplay.
Nice idea and I agree about the great lighting effect. I couldn't get past the first screen though. I'm just tooooo slow. :-)
wow, thank you all for the comments and feedback! I really appreciate anyone who takes time to try out my entry :) It's an honor.
@randomelginguy: I agree with you, the moving part was unfortunately mostly due to inexperience with the Unity engine. I didn't have enough time to correct it.
@ananasblau: That would be some good ideas actually... :D
And thank you all for playing!
I like it a lot! Considering there's no sound, it is actually quite atmospheric. As many have already mentioned the lighting effect is pretty cool. It is surprisingly relieving to reach a fire and suddenly be able to see your surroundings again. :)
Hi Kasper! Your game is fun - but pretty damn hard! I agree with the others that the panicky feeling of running out of light is really intense!
great work with establishing a mood! the darkness effects were well done.
The dimming torch is pretty cool! I also liked the movement patterns of the monsters a lot. And the passing from one area to the other: Extremly smooth.
If you need music for a later compo game, you should check out generators like http://abundant-music.com! Most generators make music extremly fast, and I am super content with the Abundant Music quality - its how I made the music for my game. Sound effects wouldn't have hurt either - feedback is super important.
I had a lot of fun while playing your entry! The torch made the game so much fun, with some polish this game could be amazing!
Thank you for all the comments everyone!
@Rasmus: haha yeah indeed, didn't have much time for balancing :) Hopefully next time! ;) Thank you for playing!
@zillix: Thank you :) I'm glad you liked the effects!
@TobiasW: First of all, thank you so much for taking time to play my game :) Much appreciated. Thank you for the tip of the music generator, I will definitely be checking it out. This was my first entry so I was not familiar with these sorts of automatic content generators. Thank you!
@shard123: Thank you so much :) Thanks for playing my entry!
And again, thank you to everyone who used some of their time to play my game! It means a lot :)
