LD24 — Evolution

CellVolution by TSJ666 2012-08-27T10:32:00

The graphical style is kind of nice, but a little confusing. The interpretation of the theme is okay, but could be ebtter. It was fun to play, though not too original.

Future Pixels by NatNoBrains 2012-08-27T08:53:00

Simple idea nicely executed. The particles and coloured pixels look nice together :3 It's quite addictive and fun to play.

Physicalution by gupta_shvm 2012-08-27T12:05:00

Buggy, terrible looking, uninnovative, not fun, no audio (at least not under Wine) Un funny and un moody. How about... abandon this and make a proper GAME.

Battle Arena Evolution! by Markavian 2012-08-27T19:04:00

It's a lot of fun to play, mostly due to the blatantly self recorded sounds, though it does get boring reasonably quickly. The implementation of evolution was nice, pretty original seeing as I haven't seen anyone else use similar things so far. The graphics weren't bad, certainly better than normal programmer graphics. Humor can mostly be attributed to the sound effects, if it weren't for them this game wouldn't be anywhere near as good ;P

Evo Face by DiscoFish 2012-08-27T11:23:00

I think what causes things to block the site is that it tries to store data for offline usage... anywho...
Pretty game, nice sounds, but grammar is pretty terrible and it's not completely obvious what you have to do. Layering also looks kinda weird...

Evolution Defense by franklyn 2012-08-27T16:16:00

Repetitive music and loud slightly distorted sound effects start to hurt your ears after a while...
Graphics are brilliant, save the enemies. They could with a LOT of work. Maybe even enimation?
Sadly, the game reflects the music in being repetitive. Even with the upgrades, nothing much changes and there isn't much to strive for.

Super Robocade by VoEC 2012-08-27T22:51:00

So it's a Mario bros clone... in Flash... with lovely green visuals and bleepy sounds and evolving robots! What's not to love?
If anything had to be improved, I'd say add more difficulty levels. It's kinda easy if you know Mario Bros, given the advantage of a gun as well...

.ISO - Part One by Kortuga 2012-08-27T17:31:00

Certainly the biggest game I've played yet... Took ages to download even with a download speed of 35-50Mb/s...
Anyway, this game is BEAUTIFUL. The limited colour pallette works very well, especially with your scenario. It doesn't really scream "evolution", but it's fun nonetheless.
It looks like it could do with some increasing of room_speed, maybe up to 60? sprinting could also do with some sort of drawback, but notuntil you've improved the clunky physics.
As most people have said, the movement is flawed. You might do well to have a look through my source, if you want some better platform physics?
You're evidently good with GM, the message boxes look great, the piellated art style looks awesome, the soundtrack is full of lovely chiptunes and the sound effects are better than your average sfxr/bfxr generated stuff.
The mood feels great for the future style you're going for, but unfortunately the boss' weakness being almost impossible to find and the flawed physics sort of decrease the playability. It's evidently very polished, but make it so you don't have to sprint to make it playable, make sprinting more easily stoppable, make gravity tighter and less floaty, etc, and you might have a much more playable game.

.ISO - Part One by Kortuga 2012-08-27T17:33:00

Also I just realised, but isn't (some of) your soundtrack copied frm somewhere? I'm sure I've heard it before (especially the desert storm one)...

SURVIVE by Ragzouken 2012-08-27T09:17:00

It's an original idea, and it's a lot of fun to play once you get the hang of what you're doing.
Brilliantly executed and the graphics feel right for the game as well. The sounds are the most annoying part, and when you get pulled into a huge croud of the blobs in the middle to die multiple times and switch organism can be a little infuriating as well.

Cellception by DiG 2012-08-27T16:20:00

So much lag! On OS X 10.7.4, with 2.0 GHz i7 quad core processor and 4GB RAM... There has to be a memory leak somewhere, it's unplayable :(

Gene pool! by jamezogamer101 2012-08-27T09:52:00

Brilliant ideas, fun to play and graphically moody, though pixel art definitely needs some work and GM default message boxes and grammatically incorrect text are big no-nos.

Tileshift by ioquatix 2012-08-27T16:09:00

That's brilliant! The ending is the sort that leaves you going "Oh you...".
Heh, it's a lot of fun to play, some brilliant art (better than I could do...), and a nice mood to it.
It's quite funny as well, how you use normal video game mechanics an question them...
If it were to have any improvements, make it longer, add music, and make enemies slightly more forgiving. Being trapped on a randomly generated path with enemies coming from two directions is annoying.

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-27T09:56:00

I tried zooming the view out for that level, though it made the pixel sprites look terrible :S sorry about that. I might shift the view up, but the boss's AI DOES allow it to fly downwards sometimes.
The wind sound's made in audacity, make white noise, make it quieter with Amplify then apply a ouple of wahwahs (you may need to tweak the settings slightly on the wahwahs).
The bow I decided on that method because I wanted the player to "pull back" the bow. Maybe I didn't put enough of a delay on it, I don't know.

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-27T10:26:00

The companion was meant to follow you through to the ending scene. I was thinking about making the airship run on a timer, but decided against it because it would be too ambiguous what you were meant to be waiting for.
The wasteland "level" was more of a scene to tie everything up at the end. I guess I should have made it longer or more interactive.
I was also considering adding a signpost at the end of some levels, that upon reading would end the level but decided against that too. Thanks for feedback though, if I ever update it, I'll consider putting some sort of indication in.

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-27T12:06:00

Haha yeah. That's been suggested. I think maybe a RotMG shoot toggle (say Right Mouse Button)...

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-27T13:06:00

@phren Thanks, they are bfxr sound effects after all :L to avoid getting hit try jumping back every time you make a hit.
@Jeremias Most comprehensive feedback yet! Thanks much, I'll consider all of that when/if I go back to improve on it.

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-27T14:35:00

Markavian, if you're not going to post anything useful, don't post at all lol.

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-30T16:02:00

Thanks... I'll try and get something like that done for a post-compo version.
GML is a pretty basic language, and due to that it's pretty fast to write in.
Also, saving was made in about 5 minutes. I'll improve on that, too :P

Diverge by patrickgh3 2012-08-27T15:03:00

Cube Miner: The Evolution of the Cubindustry by draxov 2012-08-27T11:35:00

The sort of thing you want to leave running in the background while you go off and do something else. The ability to hold down + to speed it up feels like cheating. The music is kinda catchy but after a couple of loops it gets annoying. Maybe make a longer version? Also the static could have been removed.
A saving mechanic would be nice, though it's not required.
Graphics perfectly match the style.
Evolution of a business is a nice way to take the theme as well, and kind of original.

Extinction Evader by ollie 2012-08-27T11:45:00

Tried-and-tested game genre with a gimmick - nicely done!
Art is pretty terrible, especially the background, though particles look nice and dinosaur running has a nice paper-cut-out style to it.
It was pretty clear what you were meant to do and how you were meantto do it, but I felt maybe there should be a little more content.

Deep Sea Evolution by atla 2012-08-27T10:08:00

Feels really smooth, graphically excellent, and a lot of fun to play. Quite original and very polished.
Music perfectly fits the game and the lighting helps make the mood nearly perfect.
An improvement would be to add sound effects like bubbles.

Evoship by Punga 2012-08-27T15:37:00

A tried and tested idea... not brilliantly executed... but hey, here's what I think:
Enemies are too easy to beat and not enough variety
Graphics are evidently quick sketches of things.
Game feels rushed
Player is overpowered. There should be a cooldown between shooting and you should be able to shoot when you feel like it, not constantly.
Theme is not well matched. Sure, the ship grows and shrinks, but is that evolution?
It's a little fun but it quickly gets boring when the same enemies keep on coming at you... and you keep destroying them... it becomes a chore.

Socket City by SethR 2012-08-30T16:35:00

Great game, though really hard.
Nice graphical style, possibly inspired by games like Vector TD or Captain Forever?
Ambient music style fits the game.
Highly innovative and fun.
If I were to suggest improvements:
Add "pause" button. It's annoying when you get a message from your friend and they expect a reply... but you can't pause the game.
Add different difficulty levels. At the moment, it's really hard! I managed about day 3, max!
Stop guns from pointing at each other. It's really irritating to have to shoot through your city to get a specific direction.

Haunted by Sanguine 2012-08-27T15:48:00

Excellent game!
No sound running under Wine on Mac. Oh well, I won't rate you down for it, seeing as you had no control over that.
Scary game, nice light mechanic, I like that. The ghost was quite scary.
I managed to get 6/7 artifacts, and survived for 131 seconds.
The minimap helps so much!
Congrats, great game.

EVOLUTRON by Strkl 2012-08-27T08:00:00

It wouldn't run, and told me that there should be an "Evolutron_v01_data" folder next to the exe. Running through Wine on Mac.

Tree by Canyon 2012-08-27T15:19:00

Every time I click the area, it flicks to the game screen and flicks back. Holding the mouse button seems to work, but since the mouse is needed for gameplay, this si useless...

Constructilution by David Colson 2012-08-27T09:09:00

Nice idea, although it gets frustrating when you keep placing logs aand nothing happens because you don't know how buildings are detected...
The short little jingle that plays when you start a level is nice, and helps set the mood a little. The graphics look cute, but the 3D models could do with texturing.
Fun until it gets frustrating.

The Darwinizer by Steven Colling 2012-08-27T13:09:00

Doesn't seem to run under Wine, sorry. Might try it on my laptop later if I use it :P

Evo Fight by Skoggy 2012-08-27T15:27:00

Nice game. Apart from the energy ball, the attacks seem well balanced. It runs smoothly although there seems to be a glitch where you can defy gravity by punching in mid-air - intentional?
Com players are a little too easy, being unaware that you can abuse the energy-ball n'all...
It's a lot of fun to play and has a brilliant graphical style. The "evolution" isn't as obvious as it could have been though...

The Plurality by N427 2012-08-27T08:05:00

It extracted a file called "ThePlurality.zip.cpgz"... which in turn extracted "ThePlurality 2.zip"... Mac OS X Lion

Wormelution by cappelnord 2012-08-27T16:36:00

Brilliant! Lovely art style, very nice sound effects and music. Felt really smooth to control and great fun to play. It's a little like Spore, but still very innovative in itself. For 48 hours, this is amazing!

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Space to go by geekdrums 2014-05-19T16:31:00

Looks and sounds beautiful, translation could be improved, I guess, but it's a lot of fun regardless.

Beware The Balrog by hadesfury 2014-05-01T19:43:00

Looks nice and sounds nice. The mechanic is pretty fun too. Just doesn't go anywhere, when you get to the bottom it continues on forever.
Plays well under wine, not sure why OS X and Linux binaries weren't provided though, seeing as it's made in Unity.

SWAN QWOP by AtkinsSJ 2014-05-19T17:34:00

Doesn't include the LWJGL natives for OS X, it seems.

It Came from Beneath the Surface: Wormgun by BoneDaddy 2014-04-29T18:12:00

A lot of fun to play, in all it's simplicity. Nice level design, nice physics, although a steep difficulty curve. Needless to say, I died a lot.

Epsilon Adventure by recursor 2014-05-01T18:05:00

The game is beautiful, and a fantastic puzzler. The music is atmospheric and fits the game perfectly. My only real complaint is the floaty physics. It doesn't really feel "tight" enough.
For 48 hours though, this is fantastic, and I think it would probably sell as-is, if you wanted.
A lot of fun, and very polished.

Miner Matter by HeyChinaski 2014-04-28T22:12:00

Excellent physics, nice graphics - my only complaint would be the lack of sound, it gives depth!

Like a Bird in the Sea by Volute 2014-04-28T21:11:00

A lot of fun, and kind of refreshing.
Nice questing system, though it might be nice to see your current quest or something.

Advanced Cave Crawler by josefnpat 2014-04-29T21:02:00

Fantastic. To think you wrote this using vim within 48 hours is incredible.
Some stat tweaks would have made it perfect. Dropping your sword or shield is rather punishing, and gold is too sparce.

Funzi Islands by gingerbeast 2014-04-28T21:50:00

Pretty fun, music seems to have a glitch where it becomes robotic after a while though, which was a little irritating.

Carnival Warfare by pinkmonkeyhead 2014-04-29T17:59:00

Fun, albeit repetitive, doing the same actions over and over.

Ben Eath the Surf Ace by mr_tag 2014-04-28T20:36:00

Pretty fun, no matter what I did I didn't seem to be scoring anything, and the physics & controls were a bit fiddly.
Other than that, nice game.

Yadig - Yet Another Digger Inspired Game by anbreizh 2014-04-28T20:19:00

Pretty decent game, had an issue where the player disappeared a couple of times.
Runs fine on Mavericks.
Music would have been nice, and a few more mechanics to play around with, perhaps cave structures or something.

Mine Climber by lfpetrini 2014-04-28T18:31:00

Very tricky, ice climber-esque gameplay. A lot of fun.

Uno The Mind Reader by humpback studios 2014-04-29T20:32:00

Pressing space crashes the game under Wine (v1.6-rc5 on OS X 10.9)

Sea Fighters by Julgodis 2014-04-28T20:08:00

Reaonsably addicitve and cute game. Nice thing to while away time.

Moon Mole Massacre by jcvsmc 2014-04-28T19:02:00

Not enough content, it gets very repetitive very quickly.
It runs smoothly however, and the music is alright.

ThisDarkMttr by rpgwhitelock 2014-04-29T21:53:00

Beautiful. Web version is a little laggy, but still easily playable.
Whatever it was, I enjoyed it.

Mask by Mnemusyne 2014-04-29T21:21:00

Very innovative, I love the mechanic.

The Pond by SunShiranui 2014-04-28T21:32:00

Easy enough to continue by placing many food pellets in, but at the same time a beautiful simulation.
Water physics are marvelous and the song fits it perfectly.

Fathoms by dook 2014-04-28T21:57:00

Nice idea, graphically very pleasing. Sound could do with work, though what's there is decent.
Gameplay is a little shallow, needs more content, perhaps harder difficulty levels.

Wunderheilung by kbm 2014-05-19T16:20:00

A lot of fun and wonderfully innovative. My only complaint is that there were so few patients to serve.
There also seemed to be a bug where the mouse was invisible after dropping the magnifying glass - this was (temporarily) fixed by pressing esc, wiggling the mouse around a bit, and then moving it back into the game.

DownDown by mrexcessive 2014-04-28T22:25:00

A lot of fun to play, quite addictive.

Octopi: The Descent by ocmu 2014-04-29T20:30:00

Very abstract and kind of cool.
Controls were not great, though.

High Hopes by DesignerNap 2014-04-28T21:44:00

Interesting concept, a little strange.

Animus Robotis by hitchh1k3r 2014-04-29T21:19:00

Seems to run fine on my Mavericks install - probably something to do with Java version. (I ran it under Java 8)
Images are pretty nice, nice development of levels as well. The only real problem was the "flatness" of the levels: They feel very one-dimensional.

Beneath The Skin by minibutmany 2014-04-28T21:37:00

Nice use of the theme, mechanics were a little floaty but was fun to play.

Dark Escape by Masadow 2014-05-11T18:12:00

A very interesting mechanic, yet infuriating. Good interpretation of the theme, it just needed more atmosphere, the sounds became irritating and the game didn't look fantastic.

In Too Deep by Toestee 2014-04-28T14:59:00

Couldn't run it on Linux (Fedora 20): ./intoodeep: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

In Too Deep by Toestee 2014-04-28T16:31:00

The only complaint I have is the length. Everything else is practically flawless.

Deep Descent by sirdorius 2014-05-01T20:03:00

Solid, with an original mechanic. physics are good, music is good, graphics are good. Nothing is perfect, but everything is done to a high standard.
Fun to play.

Ocean WildLife by belva1234 2014-04-28T20:41:00

Nice, dark game.
The level design is nice, even if there is in effect only one design with a few objects moved around a bit.
Dynamic lighting is very pretty, and all of the resources are done to a high standard.

Obolos by TeamEagle 2014-04-29T21:10:00

The only complaint I really have is the speed of movement. It goes so incredibly slowly! However, beautiful, atmospheric game. Love it.

Beneath The Memories by StuffBySpencer 2014-05-01T21:00:00

The story kept me gripped, and was very amusing. I think I found a literal "easter egg".
Solid physics, good music, and decent enough graphics - some variety couldn't have hurt, perhaps some old mining tracks or something.
A very very good entry, though. The voice acting was great, even if it sounded slightly unnatural at points.

QP : Fix the leak! by ElStevo 2014-05-01T17:37:00

The physics seemed kind of lousy, the bucket often getting stuck or swinging seemingly randomly. It would have been handy to have a progress bar down the side, and the menu graphics weren't great.
However, the mechanic was incredibly innovative and not something I've seen before, the music was fantastic and kept me on the edge of my seat, and it was a decent enough experience.

Black Bile, Inhuman Circuits by RobotParking 2014-05-19T17:19:00

Absolutely hilarious and fantastic placing of music. Well written and enjoyable to play.
Ever considered writing a full novel?

Light and Hate by wespaugh 2014-04-28T20:23:00

Very hard game, but very nice idea.

Ghost of the trapped Miners by thx4nothing 2014-04-28T20:56:00

Massive performance issues make it almost unplayable.
For what I played though, it seemed decent enough. Graphics were nothing special, sound less so, there was some fancy lighting and the mood set was very nice.
Confirmed to run on OS X though, if you distribute it with the same run.bat with the .sh extension people on OS X and Linux would be able to run it, since the syntax for Java does not change across platforms.

Not All Of Them Died (And They had Beef) by gapgen 2014-05-19T16:14:00

OS X version doesn't seem to work.

Scuba Sam by Boodog 2014-05-01T20:46:00

Music was well done, mazes well constructed. Images could do with some work, and the abrupt closing on losing was a little unexpected. Some variety in levels and perhaps particles could have helped a little, but definitely not bad.

Crabathon by colludium 2014-05-01T19:57:00

Pretty classic platformer - physics are how they are expected to be, which is always nice. Graphics are decent, though kind of blocky. Music & sounds are pretty good.
A solid entry.

Mermaid Scientist Massacre by pancakecity 2014-04-28T20:45:00

Cute and short, very fast pace, would like to see more, and more variety, perhaps saving various other unfortunate test subjects.

Iceberg - Beneath the Surface by jacobrb95 2014-05-01T20:52:00

A lot of fun to play - could do with some graphical juicing up but that's a lot more easy to fix than a broken gameplay mechanic. Restarting the level rather than the entire game might have been good, but it was fun regardless.

SUBLEVEL ZERO by Lyje 2014-05-01T20:13:00

Beautiful retro-styled visuals, and matching sounds. Level design is pretty good. I didn't really have a problem with the controls like others seemed to have done.
If you expand it and add different regions to explore, perhaps some Corneria-esque maps or asteroid blets or something, this could be fantastic.
Didn't really see the theme coming through in this, but a great game, nonetheless.

Birdfish by GoudaGames 2014-05-01T19:48:00

A very interesting mechanic.
Audio would have been nice, it adds a lot to a game.
Water didn't seem to render on OS X?
It became repetitive after a while, perhaps some sort of upgrade mechanic could have worked.

Roots by suppi 2014-04-29T18:46:00

Controls are not as concise as I would have liked them to be, but a very innovative entry.
Sound would have been nice.

The Fields by ryangatts 2014-05-01T21:07:00

Very pretty, although the background breaks the immersion somewhat. Smart, but the deaths were seemingly random, and felt punishing for something not under your control.Movement felt kind of slow, as well. I know it's tactical, but it could have moved faster.
Very impressive game, though.

Fish Photographer Simulator by Jacksendary 2014-05-01T19:35:00

Very pretty, in both visuals and sound. However, gameplay feels rather shallow - it doesn't feel like there's much to do. Perhaps add a photo gallery, and different locations, such as coral reefs, ponds, aquariums, etc, and require a certain amount of points to unlock more locations.

Broken Heart by TsFreddie 2014-04-28T21:20:00

Beautiful game. Nicely done.

Dungeon Escape by mogwai 2014-05-01T18:38:00

Kind of dark and moody game, but the graphics are severely lacking, as is the fight mechanic. It also gets kind of repetitive. The movement also feels kind of clunky.
The ceiling and wall textures are decent, but enemies feel very flat.
Level generation is pretty impressive.

Beneath the Surface by Snoother 2014-05-19T17:28:00

I feel horrible! ;_;
Wondering why there was no options to leave some people be, killing everyone felt pretty brutal.
Well written and beautiful atmosphere. Well done.

*The stairs by skymen 2014-04-28T19:56:00

Excellent game, don't know what zedutchgandalf was talking about, it runs perfectly under wine.
I was wondering how you managed this within the 48 hours, but then I saw it was a jam entry. Regardless, nice work.

Rubar by ssell 2014-05-01T20:32:00

My first impression of it was that is was "sluggish". I don't know if this was intentional, but everything happened far too slowly.
A few of the mechanics were alright, but some expansion and other features couldn't go amiss.

In The Blood by hexagore 2014-05-01T20:06:00

Very dark, I like it. Quite an original mechanic, sound is good, graphics are impressive.
Could have done with some more depth, it does feel very repetitive, doing the same thing over and over.

And the Moment Is Gone by Mike Mezhenin 2014-05-19T16:05:00

I want to like this, but it feels very repetitive and very little way forward. Perhaps if there was a general hint as to how to continue, and more variety in situations.

Defy Hades by MyrddinsOwl 2014-04-29T18:20:00

Beautiful visuals, beautiful sound, plays well.
A joy to play.

No Hawking by jellymann 2014-04-29T21:35:00

Lack of sound was disappointing, and often spawned with about 5 of the enemies shooting at a rapid pace at me.
It felt kind of shallow, though the physics were pretty decent and graphically it wasn't bad.

Addictive, simple and nice soundtrack (although short, could have done with a little more development)

Charly's Psyche by Nizar89 2014-04-29T20:45:00

Very abstract and strange entry. I liked it a lot, though it got repetitive very quickly. Not sure whether there was much more to it than walking around and smashing objects, which I did for about 20 minutes. People have mentioned finding things though, so I guess there was more.
The web version was a little laggy.

Save your tribe! by FrameMatt 2014-04-28T17:21:00

Fun, but repetitive

Dark Moles! by ninjascript 2014-04-29T21:39:00

Very, hard, couldn't pass the second level. ALso, very repetitive and not very original.
That said, for a first game it's pretty decent.

Honey Bundles by foolmoron 2014-04-28T17:39:00

Interesting concept, kind of difficult to grasp how to do things, perhaps a tutorial of some sort would be nice?

Clobsters by HartLaboratories 2014-04-28T20:30:00

Would be nice to see some network play so us lonely people could play without frantically searching for a friend, other than that, my only other complaint is the controls feel a little "floaty" at times.
Very original concept and a lot of fun to play around with.

Descent| by HernanZh 2014-04-28T22:03:00

A lot of fun, smart level design, and pretty difficult.

Killer Without Color by GlowingSnail 2014-05-01T20:29:00

Itneeds some form of music and sound effects. The mechanic is original, but somehow makes me feel bad abaout myself every time I kill. There's no limiting factor, it seems I can't die and there's no time limit either.
The seal AI is fantastic - some more "enemies", environments, and some sounds would have made this.

Deep Maze by hexabeast 2014-05-01T20:23:00

A novel idea. I loved the graphical style and the platforming/puzzling balance was handled almost perfectly.
Perhaps use less patterns, they were difficult to remember and I ended up screenshotting them at the beginning.
The collisions seemed slightly off, I could jump through the ceiling.
Very impressed with what you did, although more content would have been nice.

Planitia by TheZiggy 2014-05-01T20:39:00

Physics felt horrendously broken, jumping definitely needs work, and there should be a limit to reach.
The selling mechanic was decent, and ore population is done nicely.
SFX were half decent, they're not great by any means, but they were there, which is more than can be said for so many other games.
Music would have been nice.

Submarine Warfare by Torri Y 2014-04-29T21:30:00

Drowning in Problems by Notch 2014-05-01T18:31:00

Quite an interesting entry, and nothing if not innovative. There is beauty in it's simplicity, though it also restricts it in terms of scope, as it's very short and dragged out by time delays.

The Leeway Brothers' Bohemian Debut Of A Lifetime by Jwatt 2014-05-19T21:03:00

Pretty smart idea. With a little more expansion and variety it could be a lot of fun.

Layers by caranha 2014-04-28T17:12:00

A lot of fun to play, even if it's a tried-and-tested concept. The way the theme is included is brilliant.
Difficulty curve is quite steep, but overall, a lot of fun

Above and Below by pighead10 2014-05-01T17:46:00

Decently fun, albeit repetitive.
Music is good.
At first I was very confused, I didn't know how to look through the menus and when I started playing I ended up with this spinning dizzying effect. After a while, I noticed I could score highly by running around in circles. Great.
A simple but pretty fun game, I guess.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

O-Inari Origami by Solifuge 2014-12-09T22:39:00

This is an absolute genius idea, very impressive. The only thing it really feels it's lacking is music - something calm and unintrusive could be nice. If you wanted to turn it into a full game you could just add proper level selection, music, and a bunch more levels, and you'd be done - it would be something I'd be willing to pay for. Seriously, great work on this.

Toy House Attack by floorman 2014-12-09T22:45:00

The crate pushing mechanic wasn't great, but if you look past that, it's like one of the old classic zombie shooters with snowmen. (so hey, you got the snowman theme in there too.) It was pretty fun to play for a while but got boring quickly, and the environment was fairly limited. There was a total of one sound effect and no music. Fixing the crate pushing could have made this a lot more fun (some sort of lock-on to the side of crates, TLoZ:OoT style would do)

CoinSlot by SuperDisk 2014-12-21T12:28:00

When it works, it works well. It's really cool to see all the coins flying everywhere. The music is good, but for some reason I could only get music working in browser in Firefox, and images working in Chromium.
The builder application itself runs fine under wine including submission.
A very innovative non-game, nice to see and quite refreshing.

Break the Limits! by Volute 2014-12-20T16:20:00

Wow, nicely done. A lot of different scenarios here, kind of reminds me of Drowning in Memories (LD29), but this is a lot more polished. Good use of the theme. I think if you wanted to make something more, making a storyline that made a little more sense than a guy dreaming would be good, but the mechanic is good enough that you could do a lot with it.

Tightrope Theatre by AdventureIslands 2014-12-20T14:52:00

Really solid platformer physics - the unicycle really adds a new dimension to it. Some of the levels are really tricky. My only major gripe with this is, since you're dying so much, the curtain animation takes a little too long and you spend more time watching curtain transitions than you do playing once you get to a certain point. I'd really like to see this turned into something bigger though, perhaps have circuses in different towns and completing one moves you to a different town (with perhaps some UI changes to keep things interesting). Overall, very well polished, nice pixel art, nice music. Good entry.

The Tower by Chaoseed 2014-12-20T17:01:00

Clever theme interpretation. The text didn't really do anything to make me want to read it, there wasn't really any sort of storyline. You just walk through a castle and... stand in a good position? (even though I forced myself to), and it was lacking sounds of any sort. Progression was interesting, but the writing wasn't really good enough to keep my attention.

Talking Heads by ponk 2014-12-20T16:30:00

An interesting entry - there wasn't really much content but what was there was pretty interesting. The art style was neat, but it was sorely lacking in sounds of any sort. Circuit building is pretty fun for a while and quite intellectually stimulating.

The Paper Dance by TravisChen 2014-12-20T16:08:00

This is very pleasant visually, but unfortunately the gameplay doesn't quite stand up to the mark. It needs... something more, a goal to work towards or something, otherwise it just feels lacking.

SNOWGAME by Dunric 2014-12-21T12:35:00

I'm really not sure you should have submitted this in it's current state - it really does feel unfinished. So I drag Ness and the snowmen stop... which does nothing since you can just stop all of the snowmen by placing 5 Nesses. It really feels pretty pointless in it's current state.
(Oh, and you're meant to opt out of categories you didn't make all the assets for - so graphics and audio need to be opted out of, since the Ness sprites and music weren't made by you.)
Placement was quite buggy as well, you could place Ness on both sides of a snowman when they were in the right spot and they'd jump upwards a little.
The snowflakes flew upwards? Uhh...
Yeah, this needs a lot of improvement, and probably some sort of idea as to what you want it to be. Some sort of goal.

Back Home by Vandash 2014-12-21T12:47:00

Graphics were very impressive, and audio was beautiful. The player has little impact on the story though, regardless of whether you go into the black hole or not you get the same dialogue and the same ending.
Needs more content and more player impact.

True Story by OrangeeZ 2014-12-21T00:27:00

Quite well-polished and unique game. Graphical style was neat. Some of the hindering effects just weren't...fun though. Also, aging process was a little too fast - I felt the age should be around double for some of the effects to be happening. I got a hear attack and died at 40 after drinking numerous youth potions, which is a little bit nonsensical. Music also didn't really seem to fit well.

The Murderdome by RyanNielson 2014-12-10T17:55:00

A pretty addictive, and difficult, game - love the permadeath. The music was fitting, and the visuals were actually quite nice, even though they were simple. It's quite fast paced and you feel like a ninja avoiding the shots - the highest I got was level 5.

Arcade Mashup by CryoGenesis 2014-12-08T22:56:00

Some pretty and well polished mechanics for some old classics. Well done! The shake effect and particles played off nicely, and the transitioning between different games handled very smoothly. "You are a pile of chocolate flavoured ice cream", aha xD
While it was sorely lacking music, the sound effects did give it some solid depth, and it was definitely fun to play.

Snowman's Revenge by ketura 2014-12-09T20:00:00

This is a really nice mechanic. Balancing making snowballs with actually getting rid of the snowmen trying to eat you is nice, and then you have the lights as well - very original and a lot of fun. And you got the snowman theme in there too, so that's pretty awesome.

Cell #327 by Aurel Bílý 2014-12-20T12:04:00

Really nicely done. The story was a little short, but it was well-written. I was surprised to find that this wasn't actually a jam game - the art was really nice, and it generally felt very polished. Generally, possible improvements I can see are the music and the length of the story. I got ending 3 first time - I'm not sure what the other two endings were but it felt a little too easy.

Dream Heist by gallerdude 2014-12-20T15:55:00

Quite overwhelming having the four games going on at once. None of the games were that deep, I think I'd rather see a concept polished well than 4 concepts half-done. Music was decent, graphics weren't great. Generally passable entry, but it needs a lot of polish. Nice interpreation of the theme.

Final Swap by blackmagic 2014-12-20T12:39:00

This was quite enjoyable for a while, but it was also pretty slow - it took an age to get your white & black mage, and by then I was starting to get bored. It would be nice if this were used as the fight system in an RPG, but since it was just battle and nothing else, it got old quite quickly. Graphics and music were great, and mechanic was definitely fun, it was just repetitive after a while.

Chess Chatter by caryoscelus 2014-12-13T19:23:00

Very well-made and polished game. The story was interesting, and the characters were quite deep, although there were numerous grammatical errors. The art was absolutely beautiful, and the soundscapes matched that. The desperate mood of the club was perfect. It would be nice to see an expansion of this, with a little more grammatical checking - this could probably be turned into something I'd be willing to pay for.

For the Homeland! by Verz 2014-12-14T13:36:00

Nice art & music, interesting deaths. Crime generation was quite interesting for a while. It didn't really give me many pointers as to what I was doing, other than pressing the red button and deciding the fate of the citizens, although I didn't really understand what that was doing. I was offered a trade once, I wasn't really sure what that did either.
The characters were fairly interesting, but there wasn't really much way to converse with them after the initial start.
I wasn't sure what Gulag was either until I read the comments.

Snowman Stacker by dook 2014-12-09T21:10:00

A really nice mechanic, pulled off very well, especially for seven hours. The physics are well done, the hill generation is nice, and it's tricky to put together. A lot of fun to play, well done.

Insecticide by Nate Kling 2014-12-20T16:53:00

Really complex for a jam game - other than reading the rules, which are really long, there isn't much way to figure out how to play the game. It would be nice if it led you slowly into it, or there was a reference every turn. The music and graphics are really neat. However, there isn't much indication of what you're doing. It might be better as an online game with proper ladders, as you could show what each player is doing without worrying about the other team seeing it.

flop by ix 2014-12-20T17:11:00

A genius mechanic, and a beautiful visual effect. Clever interpretation of the theme. The lack of sound & music draws away from the atmosphere, but it's very beautiful and fun to play. More gameplay mechanics might have been nice, although admittedly you did mention a lack of time. The physics were a little floaty, with little to no air control, but other than that no problems there. I'd like to see an expansion with tighter physics and some level selection, along with some sound effects and music.

Little Office Troubles by DrGeraud 2014-12-14T16:14:00

Very polished, but not much content. It's fun to play, but gets old quickly because it's a very simple mechanic with not much to it. The sounds, music and graphics are all superb.
Hey, you cheated the theme, it was on three screens xD

Suzy v Dark Lord by Jonapulse 2014-12-14T15:18:00

A really cool mechanic. It took a while to "get it", but once I did, it was quite fun throwing the runes around and getting them to overlap. There were a few weird graphical glitches where the top flashed and stuff, but generally very good. The music was a little repetitive, but otherwise good.

S.I.N.E by FloatingGhost 2014-12-14T16:10:00

I don't think you included the natives for Mac.

Snowman Survival by CoderDozer 2014-12-09T20:05:00

A fairly simple game mechanic, but apart from collision checking (this felt quite broken) it played alright. Really not sure why I was allowed to walk outside of the room.
The crafting mechanic was pretty neat, and the music was half decent, so good job on that. I wasn't keen on the aesthetic, but top-down is pretty hard to do right.

The Great Expanse by joe40001 2014-12-14T13:09:00

At first, this gave me a pretty nice feel of the expanse of the universe, but slowly it just got repetitive. There was no ramp up in difficulty, no change in scenery (until the maze thing at the end), and it really was more of a grind. For 5 hours, it's decent, but it doesn't really compare to most entries.

Galaxia by greysphere 2014-12-20T18:23:00

Neat UIs, generally a drive to control more of the galaxy - however small your portion is. Lacking sound, it got a little boring after a while. Unobtrusive, ambient noises could have been nice. Pretty nice entry, but a little slow.

Neural Connectivity by Crefossus 2014-12-14T13:41:00

It took a while to figure out what I was doing (no instructions or anything) but once I did I completed it relatively quickly. There was no real challenge, or anything to explore really, and it was lacking music.
There wasn't really anything to keep my interest.
I thought the physics were decent and the controls were fine, so I don't really know what people were complaining about there.

Atomic Space Vikings by AtomicVikings 2014-12-14T15:53:00

This was awesome. Loved the music, graphical style, and kept me occupied for ages. Kind of surprised you didn't do a GWT-based version, since you were using libgdx, but it doesn't detract from the game itself at all. With a bit more expansion (multiple galaxies or something?) and maybe online multiplayer, this could definitely become something sellable.

SCREEN HEAD by NickZangus 2014-12-20T14:22:00

Haha, great. Hilarious game, loved the parasite-esque feel of it. The soundscapes were pretty nice, but kind of repetitive. The graphical style was pretty cool. The pacing was a little slow, but I guess that's kind of how business works. Some of the AI was a little bit slow too - if someone sees someone with a monitor head over the other side of the room, they continue to stare blankly into space until you're a bit closer.
Maybe a little too easy, I cleared it first try, and there weren't any deviations in path.

Lost Worlds by Techblogogy 2014-12-08T22:47:00

This was quite the unusual game.
OS X version works flawlessly, by the way.
The graphics were a little sub-par - things like edges where they shouldn't be (enemy walk right animation) and images that were drawn in a hurry in MS paint. There were also some odd UX decisions made, and a lot of things (menu navigation, can I destroy the enemies? etc) were not quite as obvious as they should be. It took a while to notice the theme interpretation, but once I did, I was quite impressed - putting all of the levels on the main screen is quite an neat idea. Some of the jumps were pretty tricky, although often it felt like the fault of the floaty gravity, and not of me (the player). Where this really picked up was some of the music: there were some pretty nice beats in here, especially for 48 hours. The menu theme in particular was very impressive.
The Transitioning between platforming and maze mechanics wasn't seamless, but you managed to (just about) pull it off, so well done for that.
This is a pretty decent attempt, and I'll look forward to seeing where you go next Dare.

CHANGE - A homeless roguelike survival simulator by DanHayesGamer 2014-12-20T17:52:00

You certainly captured the mood - not pleasant. There didnt't seem to be much variety in gameplay and I couldn't figure out how to spend cash. The graphical style was quite neat, I don't think I've seen many games do that before. Music fit the mood, but was overly simple.

Avoid Rage by jackrugile 2014-12-14T12:36:00

Neat idea - a lot of fun to play, and pretty addictive, although it throws few, if any, punches. I managed 130. Perhaps add some weird effects that occur at set intervals, for example increase speed for 10 seconds, add a delay to movement, "confuse" movement, etc to make it harder.

gene by mpath 2014-12-08T23:14:00

This is weird and quite nerdy fun.
I find it oddly enjoyable watching your little script carry out it's duty and "evolving".

Nauty Sub by ThatsMyJam 2014-12-09T20:35:00

A very interesting way of doing "Lighting". Control mechanism was quite interesting too, but I think I would have preferred a keyboard-only option. The timer makes it fairly difficult, and it feels like there's quite a nice variety of smooth terrain and obstacles, even if there are in reality only a few.

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-20T16:04:00

Felt incredibly quiet without sound effects or music, but the mechanic was really cool - reminded me a lot of Zelda games, I think that was likely an influence. It wasn't too impressive graphically, but the puzzle design was superb. Web player version seemed to lag a little, but I didn't dock any points for that, assuming the desktop version would play fine.
Would be great to make this one dungeon in a full game (with some graphical oomph and sound of course).

Sad Little War-Bot by sorlok 2014-12-09T20:49:00

This was quite well polished, and quite humourous. There seemed to be a lot of content, and the story addition was quite welcome. However, it got very repetitive quite quickly, and very loud as more and more enemies poured onto the screen. Spamming left click seemed to both be the only way to do this and simultaneously destructive, since your grenades weren't going very far before exploding.

Sad Little War-Bot by sorlok 2014-12-09T20:50:00

I've made a bundle for Linux (x64 and x86, tested the x64 version on Fedora 20 and that's working.) and a web version of my game, so feel free to try again.

Winter invasion by Belvar 2014-12-09T22:25:00

The physics are half-decent, and there's a wide range of power ups on offer (though of course not rivalling RoR's ;)). It almost feels like there should be more writing, because your style is absolutely brilliant, over the top and pretty hilarious. It's also pretty sorely lacking music, although the sound effects are alright.

Platform 31 by Rodaja 2014-12-20T12:28:00

Really polished visuals and music. A simple game mechanic, although there's not much variety to the gameplay. Perhaps you could make it so that it shows who won? It's possible that both players shoot each other at precisely the same time, which causes a little confusion. The train is pretty cool. Online multiplayer could be fun for those of us who don't have any friends available :3

Attack of the Screen Scrollers by drludos 2014-12-20T12:49:00

Pretty interesting, there really wasn't much to it, but it was a nice idea, I haven't seen it done before. Neat interpretation of the theme.
Possible improvements include music, some different mechanics other than "scrolling faster" and perhaps some change in pacing. Also, perhaps a goal like "survive for 10 seconds and you unlock a new level with some new mechanics" "survive for a minute in this one and you unlock another", etc.

Match Cube by lemmily 2014-12-20T16:36:00

It feels like a huge rubik's cube, of sorts. There are some odd bugs, like some groups deciding not to remove themselves, and it's possible to end up in a position where you can't move. The falling to the centre would be good, and it would be nice to have some music. Could be good as a mobile game with some additional camera controls such as zooming, and some larger levels, perhaps interesting shapes.

BORDERS by apiotrw 2014-12-09T21:03:00

This was quite a neat mechanic. I can imagine it being quite fun with two players as well. However, the controls weren't really that tight, and it was often difficult to maneuver. The perspective wasn't great.
Some of the levels were really quite hard, but it didn't seem like there was a logical ordering.
A little too short - some more content could have been good.

0000 : Press Z by alvarop 2014-12-14T15:23:00

Pretty hardcore old school-style platforming. I'm not sure on the "change to a different level on death" - it almost reduces the punishing aspect of it by allowing you to progress that way. Most of the physics are pretty good. The sound effects are a little on the simple side, and some music might have been good. It was quite fun to play, though.

The Fast and the Flatulent by Drtizzle 2014-12-20T17:44:00

This was pretty funny, but unfortunately not very deep. I could keep going forever just by spamming all the buttons - when I'm losing just because I got bored, you know something's up. Graphics were half-decent, and music is good. I never saw a red car, but I was scoring upwards of about 5000, and there wasn't really that much of an aim.

Not Your Average Dungeon by SanderB 2014-12-14T14:59:00

This really is too unfinished - either working while sick or not submitting at all would have been preferable here.
On the bright side, your sprites are decent, and the dashing ability was quite interesting, if only it was a little more polished and worked better.

Syracruse Station by Erfeo 2014-12-14T13:22:00

This is alright, but the enemy immediately targeting your base with one life while you try to spam the keyboard to use weapons that aren't out of charge is a little difficult - the difficulty should ramp up, rather than starting hard and staying hard. Graphically, it could do with a lot of tidying up, but it's decent enough to see what everything is. The mechanic is okay, but it really is trying to introduce you to everything at once. Perhaps introduce each weapon one by one, so you can learn them and what they do before everything eats you?

Meeses by 4sap 2014-12-08T23:03:00

This is fantastic - some very silly and great ideas for enemies, and quite solid mechanics (although your own attack is quite limited)
The music isn't intrusive, and the style is quite pretty and almost nostalgic.

Mystical boring plowing duel (with ultra-hiper-super-mega arena) by vipper 2014-12-14T14:56:00

The aesthetic in this game is really neat, and the music fits decently well, although I've definitely heard it before. The trumpet is really out of place and the controls are floaty and especially bad with two players (does it expect the second player to be sitting on the first player's lap or something?)
The arena design is decent, but collisions don't seem to be implemented that well.
It didn't hold me for that long. Controls really need to be tighter.

Robot Karma Joe by Jupitron 2014-12-20T16:41:00

I wasn't too keen on this - the physics were a little broken, the soul mechanic felt unfinished, the karma mechanic didn't seem to do anything, and when you died it didn't feel like it was your fault. The graphics were lacking some polish, and mismatched with each other. The theme interpretation was pretty good, with everything appearing on the screen at the beginning and then you having to go and explore inside the thing. The level design was decent.

Runny Square by NeithR 2014-12-20T12:22:00

There wasn't really much to this - it's a jam game, but it felt like it could have been made in the compo. There aren't many interesting game mechanics, and it's quite frustrating to play. It does feel like it could make it on mobile, though, with the short attention span of that audience. Maybe it just isn't my sort of thing.

Ricochet Heroes by spotco 2014-12-20T12:17:00

Wow, really neat idea to combine final fantasy, pinball, zelda and mario. You executed it well too - it was paced well, the music was great, the physics weren't too frustrating, and there was a neat graphical style. As far as improvements go, I'd say adding some more variety in mechanics would be nice - the inns and guild houses were cool, but a larger variety could keep the game going longer.

Tell me you! by kato 2014-12-20T16:46:00

It's pretty, but that's about it. Dark, moody, nice style, but the Engrish doesn't really make all that much sense. There isn't any sense of story, and none of your decisions change much. You kill the guy and live, or you let him live and die, then the game ends. There really isn't enough to it.

ɹǝɯɹɐɟ ǝɥʇ by BooleanByte 2014-12-14T14:51:00

The controls were really finnicky, which kind of broke it for me. The mechanic was nice, so if it was neatened up a bit, this could turn into something quite nice - as a web game, this could do quite well, I think, but it doesn't really fit as a native game, being as simplistic as it is.

Jamception by Crocanti de Pollo 2014-12-09T20:57:00

Quite accurately replicated the experience of being in a jam (although usually it's the IRC client and a hot chocolate rather than coffee and social media). It was a lot of fun to play, as well, and very smooth. Good job!

Greeny GRUB by pht59x 2014-12-14T13:01:00

Interesting concept. I liked the difficulty - it was harder than a lot of entries. There isn't much variation, and the graphics could do with a little spicing up, although the music is pretty good. It's quite fun for a little while, though.

Snakkke by ratking 2014-12-20T14:29:00

Wow. Really interesting mechanic, loved the use of the third dimension here, although I think maybe a transparent representation of it in 3D space may have helped, although maybe that would just reduce the difficulty. Changing difficulty didn't really actually affect the difficulty much, since the speed wasn't really the main problem here, but maybe my spatial is just bad. Music is minimal but fits well.
The only other improvement I can think of is online highscores could be nice here.

Mapze by Terrabalt 2014-12-21T11:59:00

Interesting interpretation of the theme, however unfortunately it really isn't that fun to play through. There is no music, no variation in content (just paths... lots of paths)
The projection mechanic is neat, but not something that hasn't been done before. It sounds like I wasn't the only one who just used the 2D map (since you can see the entire picture) with the awkward control system, with a Win95 screensaver going on in the background.
I forced myself to finish it, and I didn't really feel rewarded.

Suggested improvements:
Add something in the maze to change things a little. Vines to climb with a second layer, enemies, tunnels, something interesting.
Add some music
Add some sound effects - footsteps or something. People really underestimate how much they add to a game.
Add more content. Just the one drag of a level with no variation isn't fun.
Add some sort of narrative. For this type of game, having a voice explaining some sort of story or something really adds to the depth of the universe.

Walk to the door by el-pepi 2014-12-14T16:37:00

Really, really nice puzzle design, and a nice gradual difficulty curve. It would be cool to break up the levels into different themes of some sort.

Last Ark by Nuclear Napalm 2014-12-20T23:48:00

Pretty neat, there's a lot going on that it doesn't really explain - many subsystems that it just throws at you with little or no explanation what they do. I tried to "land" on a planet, and I immediately lost. Huh?
Music was great, graphics were pretty, sound effects were cute, and after getting the hang of it it was pretty fun - just needs some sort of tutorial or something, and needs to introduce the different subsystems one by one so you can get a feel for them.

Snowbert by spacedoubt 2014-12-14T12:40:00

Aha, made me giggle a little. It's a little too short, not much content, and a little to easy, but the interacctions available were pretty genious. The reindeer is fantastic! XD
The art is decent, and the music fits it well.

Broken by SetArray 2014-12-09T23:06:00

The OS X build doesn't work - it crashes on startup, but it's not a Java stack trace (it comes up with the OS X dialog for when an application crashes)
I've put the crashdump on pastebin - http://pastebin.com/kUge4qhv

Parable of the Broken Window by Akurn 2014-12-20T17:59:00

A novel mechanic, unfortunately the physics didn't feel tight enough and the browser resizing caused big grey squares everywhere when refreshing the display. The music is pretty nice, and it's alright graphically, but doesn't really seem to pull off what it sets out to achieve sadly.

Hazard Lab by JohnGalt 2014-12-20T15:38:00

Interesting mechanic, pretty fun to play around with, but not much to it. Hard, but strategic. Perhaps good for a mobile game?

Swotch by Ulydev 2014-12-21T12:53:00

Simple and addictive. I think this would do well as a mobile game with tilt support.
The music fitted great, and the graphics were simple but again, fit well.
Ideas for expansion:
Perhaps add different modes/difficulties that could keep a player hooked for longer. After a couple of minutes I'd already experienced everything the game had.

Birdy Bird by WisdomUnit 2014-12-14T14:38:00

Interesting interpretation of the theme, having the "screes" fade out and in - at first I thought it was a bug, but I realised after a couple of plays.
The music is quite nice, and the art is nice too. The idea really isn't an original one, though.

Windows Cleaner Simulator by Instant Noodles 2014-12-14T16:54:00

I kind of expected more feedback when cleaning windows - perhaps a better view inside. It didn't really affect the game other than completing it when you clean all of them. That was an issue with many of the other choices, too - none of them really seemed to affect the game. It was generally interesting to talk to everyone, but the good ending can only be achieved by cleaning the windows like you're supposed to. (I did this first time and didn't find anything interesting).
Generally a very pretty art style, and music was okay.

Petite Juliet by kts_kettek 2014-12-21T00:47:00

Neat level generation - I liked that the terrain was always changing. Pretty dark mood, with little explanation of why the demons were there in Juliet's mind. Collision detection and physics seemed to be a bit off, and enemies didn't seem to be dying - perhaps adding enemy health bars could let you know which ones are damaged, and adding a knockback or stun when they're hit. I can't suggest much on collision detection, other than add some sort of check as the terrain changes - it often got me caught in the ground. The graphical style was pretty neat, but there wasn't much in terms of audio - adding music would be nice. In terms of expanding this further, having more than problems in the mind could be good, and finite amounts of enemies that can be beaten, and slightly tighter physics. When I say "having more than just problems in the mind", I mean perhaps fighting off a stomach bug, diarrhoea in the intestine, etc. could be a lot of fun.

Sanic Sokoban by terrytheplatypus 2014-12-14T16:45:00

This hurts my ears, and has no challenge, unlike real sokoban. It somehow manages to take Sonic and Sokoban and remove everything fun about both.

techRUN by Magosis0 2014-12-14T14:47:00

It felt like it really should be fun. The only really breaking thing was the physics - I would get caught on the side of things and be able to triple jump off them, catch while falling down a hole, and numerous other weird bugs. It also felt really floaty to play. Graphically, it was good, and the music fit well. The boss's quotes were quote amusing too.

A Gore-y Election by iggyvolz 2014-12-14T13:50:00

It was pretty easy to win once I understood what was going on, and there wasn't much variety in gameplay. It's an original concept, and it's fairly fun, but could really do with some more variety and polish.

Get Out by rodobodolfo 2014-12-20T16:56:00

Really nice dark and moody atmosphere, though I wasn't sure where I was going or what I was doing, perhaps because of the lack of planning for more content. I'd like to see you finish this, because it plays quite nicely for what is unfortunately really short but well-polished content.

Helga Kills Everything by mutatedsoftware 2014-12-20T11:47:00

This was fairly amusing - it didn't keep me hooked for very long, but it was fun while I was playing it. The music was good, some of the art could do with brushing up, and it would be nice to see a health bar or something so I knew how far away I was from dying. The huge bear usually killed me pretty much instantly - I think it would be nice to make it more obvious when you were hit, too.

Office Gaming Inception by AMS 2014-12-20T13:08:00

This was alright for a little while, but it got to the point where the snowman's head burst, the computer screen was broken, and I was out of coffee - then it was completely oimpossible to get rid of stress. It felt like it was lacking content - there were a few games there, but none of them were really deep enough.

AntiPlane by Grenac 2014-12-20T13:01:00

Really neat mechanic. I docked a star from overall for the lack of sound, but the amount of content here was great, especially for 48 hours. Looking forward to your release. The lighting effects were really nice, and the level design was very clever.

Teeny Tiny Little Ball by FerraWare 2014-12-09T22:53:00

Ahaa, great narrative - the combination of shapes and a unique narrative style reminds me of Thomas was Alone. There was a wide variety of different ideas in here, and so the shortness can be attributed to the 48 hours. The music loops well and it's fun to solve each "puzzle". The graphics are simple, but very effective. A very good entry.

R by Floriaen 2014-12-14T13:26:00

It was lacking audio, but graphically a very nice style. It's biggest flaw was that you can't really choose which direction you're shooting - it's just done automatically. Maybe move movement to WASD/arrow keys and use the mouse for aiming?

You Are Lost by farwyler 2014-12-20T12:43:00

A really dark, moody game. There didn't seem to be any ending, or anything I was working towards, but other than that, it felt great to play. I made it around a few fires.

Sweet Dreams Bear by EvanEGibbs 2014-12-21T00:20:00

d'awwwww
d'awwwwwwww
There really isn't much to say about this one - overwhelmingly cute, just lacking much content. It would be nice to see more scenarios or something.
Graphics were well done and audio was fitting.
Good job.

Peaceful Night by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2014-12-09T22:17:00

It's alright for a little while, but something as simple as a basic tune could make it a lot more immersive. It plays a lot like a 2D Minecraft clone, and while the gameplay is relatively simple, some of the mechanics are quite ambitious for 48 hours. The generation could do with some work, but again - it's 48 hours, so having generation at all is pretty impressive (that said, I used to write up Minecraft world generators in an evening - Underdark is one of those if you look at my GitHub)
Good job on the amount of blocks, items, etc. but this really could have done with something to make it a little more immersive and fun. I gave rewriting the render code a crack (making it run in a separate thread, only rendering once per tick, etc) but the speed of everything dropped a lot, I couldn't figure out why. I might have another look at it later (or ping me on the IRC and I can talk to you a little about it if you want - my nick is alyphen and I'll be idling in the channel all day and active during out of work hours in GMT)
A good crack at a 48 hour game, but perhaps try something a little less ambitious and add a little more polish and sparkle next time.

Cube Shooter 31 by cachila4408 2014-12-08T23:09:00

This gets incredibly chaotic very quickly.
Impressive physics for a 72hr game, and a nice, fairly original concept. It's simply drawn, but that's all it needs.
Just add some online co-op so more people can play multiplayer. Local co-op is quite amusing if you have friends, but it's good there is a single player mode.
My only complaint is that there isn't much replay value unless you're a highscore chaser.

Balls and Blocks by monsieurvinou 2014-12-09T23:24:00

The physics are wayyy too floaty for my liking, which kind of spoils the game. The music is good, and the mechanic is decent, and probably would be fun if the controls were tighter.

I've Seen This Room Before by gelisam 2014-12-21T00:10:00

Some really clever puzzles - loved the mechanic of being able to move back and forward between the different levels. Would be great to see more levels and a visual makeover, and some audio.

Turn a cave! by Night 2014-12-14T13:16:00

It's a pretty neat idea, but it felt like it lacked audio - my only other major gripe was the movement - you couldn't move more than one square at a time, and you couldn't rotate counter clockwise. The text didn't really make you notice it, but that was a minor issue.
Overall, a fun idea that could do with more polishing.

Core by MrSun 2014-12-20T15:50:00

Really neat mechanic - I liked this a lot. Sort of reminds me of Super Hexagon, except way more crazy and disorientating. Would be nice to have more things added than just the spikes.

Escape Character by Zi 2014-12-14T16:07:00

This was totally awesome. Really innovated based on the theme to make something totally unique. This was a lot of fun to play, and you should totally do more on this. The mechanic was really cool.

-CHAMBER- by ben_pxlplz 2014-12-20T13:11:00

This was pretty hard. It made good use of tetris blocks, and the platform mechanic, and it kept me coming back a few times. Perhaps add difficulty settings, because although it was good, it was also frustrating.

Remote Control by Louisload 2014-12-20T14:12:00

I wasn't actually that keen on this entry - the mechanic was interesting to play with, and remembering every screen was tough, but it was lacking quite a lot of polish. Some of the text looks like it was scribbled together in MSPaint or something, and the music was fairly repetitive.
It would have been interesting if the music changed with each channel, and the transitioning between channels was made smoother - the huge grey background and obtrusive noise wasn't really the best way to go about this.
Death wasn't really punishing, but I guess that kind of worked. You kept all your items, and nothing really happened.
There wasn't much content or story - I wasn't attached to the character in any way, he was just "a graphical glitch on my television" so finding true love didn't really make me feel anything. The platforming physics weren't the greatest - it allowed you to get stuck in blocks and stuff - but it just about worked.

Maze of Doom by cyrixd 2014-12-13T18:08:00

The elements of strategy were very nice, and the navigation around dungeons was an interesting strategy - unfortunately, the reliance on boots and the 10 square movement cap meant I kept running out of squares to move. Also, the icons weren't really that well explained. R on GameJolt caused the game to fullscreen, so I had to keep pressing esc every time I restarted. I think if you removed the cap on the boots, and maybe gave some additional squares with each boots, and made the icons a little more self-explanatory, this could be quite good.

SIRTET by stray 2014-12-21T00:00:00

Really clever twist on tetris. All it needs is a catchy tune haha. My best was 34.
Would make a good mobile game.

Octorope by OctoTeam 2014-12-20T11:43:00

Haha, this was great. Novel use of the theme, fitting soundscapes, and made me chuckle several times. Really nice art style, sort of reminds me of Sword & Sworcery. I'm not really sure how you could expand it, but if you do, I'd be pretty impressed.

Buttfacę the Snowball Warrior: Winter Invasion by Team Buttfacę 2014-12-13T17:55:00

Nicely polished game, with some neat visuals and sfx (although lacking music). It was fun to play, although a little too easy and a little too short. (and perhaps the pacing was a little too slow too) Decent entry, and with some more content, music, and faster pacing, this could turn into something incredibly solid.

Shoob by jonnopon3000 2014-12-21T00:39:00

A pretty interesting concept, I liked the movement across the cube, however it got repetitive quite quickly with the small number of enemies and no real use of the mechanic other than a cool transition between levels. The sound effects were alright, there wasn't any music though.

The Fourth Wall by DavidErosa 2014-12-20T13:54:00

Was this even winnable?

One Act by Sheepolution 2014-12-20T14:38:00

Haha, this was great. Loved the mechanic, and some very humourous dialogue. The music and the graphics weren't great, but they can be polished if you ever turn this into anything more than a prototype (which you totally should)
It's lacking in content, but it was well-executed and very amusing.

Chefs Legend by LTyrosine 2014-12-09T23:15:00

This reminds me of something like Surgeon Simulator, where the game is so awkward to play, even though you're doing things that would be so easy in real life, that it becomes hilarious.
I couldn't find a "restart" or "reset button of any sort, so I just refreshed the page every time, but it's a fairly original idea and it's very well polished. A lot of fun to play, though frustrating at times. Nice job.

Graffiti Escape by LeReveur 2014-12-13T18:28:00

The music was minimal, and I felt it needed a little more. I managed to get all the way to the end, but there was a lot of pointless wandering and not much sense of direction (although I guess that's common to most "room escape" games) Some of the solutions were a little abstract, but pretty clever. Profanity was overused a little too much - using it where necessary for emphasis is fine, but when it becomes every second word, something's not right. The narrative was pretty good in general, fairly humourous, although it could have been improved (although given that English isn't your first language, grammatically it's almost perfect. Just for a text driven game, I would generally expect more diversity in language used.) It was decently challenging to play through, and I enjoyed it quite a bit, although it could do with a lot more polishing.

Communications Control by PapyPilgrim 2014-12-14T12:52:00

This was fantastic - the only thing I really felt lacking was content, but the concept is really really good. With a little more content (and perhaps a little more control over things like going back to the galactica, it would be nice to do that sort of thing yourself rather than letting the game autoplay), you could definitely make something sellable. The audio is subtle, which enhances the mood greatly. The graphics were simple, but beautiful. The story was neat, there were a couple of typos, but it felt very polished. Good job.

Kaleidoscope by Madball 2014-12-20T15:46:00

It took me a little while to figure out what you were doping with my controls, but once I did, this was great. Ingenious little gimmick, with some graphical polishing and some more variety in the (already good) music, this could be something really good. Seems like it would do well as a web game (as it already is)

Orion by feiss 2014-12-20T15:26:00

Wow, this is REALLY impressive. I wouldn't be surprised if this won. Really relaxing, the only place I could fault it would be lack of content, but even that's not really an issue for a good 10 minutes of gameplay. The amount of controls was great. Not sure why you opted out of humour, I found the "Random button" hilarious :3
Good job, look foward to seeing more participations,
There's no source link though, I believe it's in the rules that compo games require source to be submitted?

Cool The Cats! by aeveis 2014-12-20T14:59:00

Pretty interesting - there's not much to it other than the innovative mechanic though. Music could have been nice, and the physics could be neatened up a bit, and there could be a few more mechanics thrown in other than just adding extra cats. Other than that, pretty fun to play for a while, but drags on a little as you approach the 18 cats.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

2003: Iraq by xgeovanni 2015-05-02T15:47:00

Wooow, I suppose that's one way to take "An Unconventional weapon".

Gravitron by Zener 2015-05-04T02:03:00

It's atmospheric, the music was pretty good and the graphical style was nice. The puzzling mechanic is fairly unique, although I'd like to be able to control it a little more, perhaps gravitate certain regions of blocks? Sometimes it feels like I'm only getting through because physics works in weird ways.
Other than collisions being a little off, I'd say it's quite polished.

soundquake by anokta 2015-05-02T16:01:00

Really awesome idea. Would love to see more levels and content, but it's nice to overlay several lines and make tunes while pushing the ball around.

Adventures of BizMan by jontturi 2015-05-02T15:57:00

Kite & shoot, kite & shoot...
Music is good, graphics need a little touching up but I guess that's what comes of not being an artist.
Interesting story, kind of wish it was explained a little in the game itself.

I just wanna go to work! by Xatulu 2015-05-04T02:36:00

It was pretty fun, I guess. The art needs work, but the mechanic is fine. The physics didn't seem all that bad compared to some of the others I've played. Would be nice to have to be more conservative with sand - felt too easy.

60 Second Opera Death by peterfsat 2015-05-04T02:08:00

It wasn't just the audience I was killing: my ears suffered too!
Haha, quite the amusing entry, enjoyed playing. I'd kind of prefer some different difficulties though, it's quite difficult with the 8 buttons to press. (or perhaps use words, since they're easier to type)

DATAWIN Lite by sorlok 2015-05-02T16:27:00

I didn't really get the theme in this one, but it was fun to play - the combat system was interesting, the enemies seemed to have infinite range while you didn't though, so some fights could be a bit unfair. You could just "continue" and autowin fights though, so there's not too much difficulty. There was a lot of content here compared to most LD games, so congrats on that.

Close Encounters of the Word Kind by Justin Mullin 2015-05-04T01:52:00

Interesting concept, seems a little slow and hence pretty easy, but it's quite fun. Maybe if the speed increased a lot as you went on, it would hold people longer. Audio was very atmospheric and art had quite the interesting aesthetic.

Nightfall by deadbodyoutline 2015-05-04T02:29:00

It's an interesting idea, but I wouldn't say it's too well executed. It runs faster than it feels it should and collisions are all over the place. It needs music, sound effects, and a touch-up on the graphics, a general slow down and some physics improvements. With some work, this could be pretty fun.

The Earl's Owl by Yazara 2015-05-02T16:34:00

The controls seem a little counter intuitive, but it's very pretty to look at. The mechanics seems smart, but I couldn't really get my head around it.

Florist vs Plant by Nkoo 2015-05-04T02:17:00

Really pretty game, with a great turn-based mechanic. Intro movie was well done. The speed that the plants multiply is a little too much for me, but it's fun to try nonetheless. Good job.

Eurovision: world domination through the power of song by Tijn 2015-05-02T16:13:00

You got a lot done for 48 hours - nicely done. It's a little repetitive but the scoring system is neat and the music is decent (some of them I liked better than others, but that's an accurate representation of Eurovision)

Malicious Design by MHaton 2015-05-02T17:55:00

Really interesting mechanic, resulting in quite the tricky game. The music was good, and with a few more mechanics and a graphical touch-up this could be something really interesting.

TypeFighter by Sheepolution 2015-04-20T19:38:00

Pretty genius idea, although it's lacking polish, that's to be expected of an LD game, and it's humorous and pretty fun. Kind of reminds me of Scribblenauts, especially when you get to solving puzzles three times without reusing words.

The Spoon Anomaly by 2A1S 2015-05-04T02:23:00

I seemed to be taking damage no matter where I was in relation to the anomaly. Interesting weapon and with a little more playtesting this could become something decent.

AKIMBO by gnx 2015-05-04T01:57:00

It's like abstract art: beautiful in a weird way.
Challenging, and probably one of the more fun entries I've seen. Sound effects weren't fantastic, but it's an improvement over silence. Some of the AI was a little weird, but I guess that's how LD games usually are.

LD33 — You are the Monster

You must kill the slime monster by martijn 2015-08-24T09:14:00

This is pretty similar to Mr. Karoshi in the way that it plays - it's a lot of fun, but the leve ldesign for this type of games is hard. While you seem to have formed a good progression (teaching the player mechanics as they level) I felt there was a lack of difficulty, especially towards the end where it should have been ramping up. That aside, the visuals are cute (love the particles everywhere) and there are some quite interesting mechanics in the game. Taking what you have and making more fleshed out levels would be a surefire way to make something incredibly enjoyable.

Monster Trader by Treks 2015-09-02T13:09:00

Really interesting trading mechanic with a lot of characters and items. There are two things that could really be improved on here: the graphics, and the amount of "character" each person you traded with had. Add some more dialogue, some more character pictures, and touch up the existing ones (and perhaps make trading a little easier to manage, I think Windward pulled it off well, so something based on that could probably work) and this could be something really neat.
As it currently stands, the music gives the game a pretty relaxing atmosphere and travelling around to trade is pretty fun.

Little monster's way back to home by BuddaKaeks 2015-08-24T09:26:00

This is a stunning entry - the level design down to the narration is fantastic. Highly enjoyable to play. Some of the areas were incredibly tricky to get your head around. For improvement, the biggest thing that this is missing is audio - adding music and sound effects would add so much to what's already something so atmospheric and beautiful.

Ghosty by zdavid112z 2015-09-02T13:41:00

Really cool concept, loved playing this. The music is incredibly good, the lighting effects are good (though the sprites need a touch-up)
Scaring seemed to be sort of wonky, I'd try to scare someone and nothing would happen.

I like:
- Lighting
- Music
- Game mechanic
Needs improvement:
- Art
- Scaring
- Aim
- Instructions (deliver over time rather than just a wall of text at the beginning)

The Mighty Borscht by alexco12 2015-08-24T09:57:00

This was nigh-on unplayable. The character card fills the screen and you can fall out of the (tiny) map behind it. There are no controls. 4 of the 5 play buttons don't work.

Billi The Monster by bogdanmaier49 2015-08-24T08:35:00

Haha, this was incredibly amusing. The sound effects were spot-on, the graphics were nicely drawn, and the interpretation was great.
To improve, I would say adding music would be a start, and tightening up the platforming physics - sometimes, deaths didn't feel like they were my fault.

You are the monster by Dasginger 2015-09-02T13:56:00

A really nice graphical style, humourous narrative, and some truly interesting mechancis make this a fun entry to play. It would do well with some audio and some further development beyond the four initial mechanics (maybe an extra skill unlock each time you pass a door)
It needs to be harder, I think. It was incredibly short and I beat it first time.

A Quiet Night on the Moon by Maxr00 2015-08-24T09:49:00

This was one of the first interpretations of the theme I thought of, but you executed it quite nicely. The graphical style is quite pretty, the audio is even prettier, and the gameplay mechanic is pretty smooth. For improvement, I'd make the physics/controls a little tighter to give some greater control of movement. I realise it's meant to be the moon, but sometimes it felt too far on the wrong side of "floaty".

Limbless by lanza 2015-08-24T08:44:00

This is quite a pleasant experience, it's a geius concept, and one that's quite fun to play. The music is good and the sound effects add a fair amount of feedback. Finding the body parts was satisfying but it took a few moments to figure out what they were doing. Perhaps a pop up message or something teling the player what they had just done would be worth it. Platforming physics were okay on land, and with the enemy AI, they just walked underneath you most (if not all?) of the time, which made it fairly easy to jump on them. Floating platforms were, however, another matter, positioning had to be so spot-on because of the floaty physics. Either making the platforms slightly more spread out or tightening up the physics would help with this.

Competition Inside Monsterous Inc by MarelisGameDev 2015-08-24T09:03:00

This game had fairly amusing dialogue, and the mission system was interesting to play through. The music and sound effects were alright, too. The gameplay mechanic could certainly be improved upon - currently it's fairly repetitive, just scaring people placed along a linear path.

The Dragonslug by Nek 2015-09-02T12:47:00

It's pretty dark, the music is really well done, the graphical style choice is nice but it feels like a lot of the sprites were rushed.
I'd say for improvement, a graphical touch-up, some smarter level design (rather than just running around and eating everything while avoiding spikes, make it so you hasve to think to get around them) and more interesting AI (as opposed to just running away when you're close and running towards you if you look the other way) could be good.

Dead Girls In Space by Fenreliania 2015-09-02T13:29:00

As others have said, the graphical style is really neat, but the game feels incredibly unfinished and buggy. It seems I can't stop moving right, the game crashes when I press escape, and I sort of fly sideways awkwardly through the corridors. I haven't played the post-jam version, but I feel it has a chance to be a lot more polished in terms of controls and general buggyness.
Stuff that's good:
- Graphical style
- Moody lighting
- Exploration
Stuff that needs improvement:
- Controls
- Audio (or lack thereof)
- Mechanic

Law of Nature by Louspirit 2015-09-02T14:13:00

An interesting take on what is essentially Hungry Fish with monsters. There seemed to be a decent amount of content, and the evolutions you went through were pretty interesting. The level progression was good. I think the thing that needs the most work is the graphics - things like sprites for walking sideways weren't there, and walls weren't always smooth. There weren't any particles or lighting effects or anything to make it too interesting graphically.

A-maze-ing Monster! by BlackQuiltro 2015-09-02T14:25:00

Neat switching mechanic and smart mazes. The lighting was pretty neat. Actions don't seem to do all that much. Pretty hard to escape from the maze. Atmosphere was pretty dark, quite enjoyable.

Soul Hunter by Vaiaphraim 2015-09-02T13:22:00

Well written and enjoyable to play. It lacks music but the depth of the environments makes up for that. The combat is interesting, but I couldn't seem to find any weak enemies to attack. The soul sucking never seemed to work. Overall, pretty well executed and will look forward to other games of the same style you come up with in the future.

PixelMonster by shawn42 2015-09-02T14:04:00

Really, really cool mechanic. I would love to see an expansion of this with a lot more levels and some more variety in audio. The level progression was incredibly well done. Shame you had such a short time to work on it, it could really do with more content. In future versions, perhaps allow players to create their own levels, add some menus and audio, etc. A long time since I've seen a game written in Ruby, the garbage collector doesn't make it so easy for a lot of games, but for something this simple, it works well. This, for me, shows a lot of the spirit of LD: A simple mechanic executed pretty well. It doesn't really match the theme, but it's a really good idea.

Speed Planet Assault by snarf 2015-08-24T08:30:00

The targeting mechanism in this was really nice - felt similar to Liberation Maiden. It was enjoyable, although I didn't really get what I was supposed to be doing other than shooting things. The graphics are simplistic but it's not a bad look. The thing I found it to be sorely lacking in was audio: sound effects would have made this feel so much more 'alive'.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Saneedling by commanderstitch 2015-12-23T05:05:00

That was a really weird experience. The seed planting seemed to make sense - but I don't know why the first and second phases were separate - they just seemed to do the same thing, and the first phase seemed meaningless.
Eating everything was quite the twist.

Evilator by Dyn 2015-12-14T12:54:00

The windows version linked to a "page not found", and the web version came up with the error "An error occured running the Unity content on this page. See your browser's JavaScript console for more info. The error was:
uncaught exception: incorrect header check"

Space Research Team by pinion 2015-12-14T12:44:00

Very interesting take on the theme. It was as challenging as it was rewarding to play. Sound effects are subtle and greatly add to the space atmosphere, though some sort of ambience may have extended the depth further.

X-treme Snowball by goffmog 2015-12-23T04:37:00

By the time you get to Archmaster difficulty, the gates seem like they're avoiding you haha.
The highscores were nice, but having online highscores would add so much replayability. The interpretation of the theme is great, your models were pretty good, and it felt incredibly smooth to play. Sound would have added a lot to it. This is the sort of game where humour is it's very fabric, and chasing highscores is the endgame. Fun to play, though lacking aforementioned replayability.

The Temple of Horyuji by ZYXer 2015-12-23T05:35:00

A graphically stunning and beautifully designed survival game. Progression was well-balanced and the attention to detail was incredible. It's sorely lacking sound, but with that and some further expansion (making the later days easier and further resources to gather, or adding an amount of time in each level before you can progress to a different map with different resources or something) I think this could definitely turn into something you could sell.

Sugarcane by bobismijnnaam 2015-12-14T17:03:00

It's missing VCRUNTIME140D.dll, even though I have vcredist installed (and the installers provided only give "uninstall" and "repair" options)
Might try running on my linux side in a bit.

Pots by tiffi 2015-12-14T16:15:00

That's a totally dope game, dude.
This was as hilarious as it was fun to play. Loved the sound effects, and the graphical style matched the general mood of the game.
Adding some sort of grid system could help as at the moment which pot you're using can be unclear at times.

Folkk by Kalinka 2015-12-14T17:23:00

A really impressive entry. At first it's not completely clear what you're meant to be doing: you're faced witha wall of text, and going back to read it after attempting to play to make sense of it is kind of required. Once you've got the hang of that, though, building a civilisation is a lot of fun.
A few things you could add:
- Animations on units would be great
- Clearer paths on units would be nice
- Map expansion would be good - enabling you to move around the map would add a lot
- Competitive multiplayer maybe?

Thrust by Lo-X 2015-12-15T10:58:00

A lot of fun to play, and very competitive with the high score table. Can be very difficult to judge whether going for a crate is worth it, and that sort of risk/reward system seems to pay off quite well. I found more success just going straight for the holes and only hitting crates if they were in my path as I was able to keep going a lot longer.

AFTER GEAR by gene-z 2015-12-14T12:10:00

The environment and sound design in this game were pretty good. The models were generally well made, and the music was fitting. The controls however, felt pretty wonky and didn't work quite how I expected them to. Collisions also seemed to be a bit off, I couldn't really tell when things were in the same plane as me and when I was going to hit them.

Growing Orbs by icereci 2015-12-23T04:25:00

Really loved the difficulty level - the music was good but I got sick of the first two notes very quickly. Left myself at the beginning of a level so I could appreciate more of it. A really cool concept, and I could see it going far as a mobile game. The graphical style was simple but neat, there were some nice visual touches like the trail. Though frustrating at times, it was very enjoyable to play.

Reap by managore 2015-12-14T17:56:00

Graphically stunning, intuitive UI choices and controls, and a nice atmosphere. The gameplay isn't really fantastic, as others have mentioned just hitting trees and finding nothing became boring fairly quickly. The day/night cycle also seemed to break up gameplay at weird points - maybe something could happen during the night that made it a more interesting part of the game?

What We Do by Graydom 2015-12-23T04:15:00

The game didn't really make a lot of sense - the tutorial was a wall of text, the controls were unresponsive (I was able to have a green block following my mouse!), there didn't seem to be any AI whatsoever, nor multiplayer, and there didn't seem to be that much to it. I think it really needs some work before it becomes something playable, and then some more to make it enjoyable.
It seems like you had an idea, and you went half way towards implementing it, so well done on that front.

Destructive Power by DarkGrisen 2015-12-14T12:33:00

An addictive and fun new take on the teris-esque arcade style.
Needs a little graphical juice and some music, but you've already got the most important part of the game down.

Glow&Grow by Ivan Volkov 2015-12-21T20:31:00

A very simple concept but pretty fun to play with. The only thing I feel could be improved is the response when something touches the central circle - a sound effect, a more prominent visual effect, something like that would make it more satisfying to play and let you know when you're making mistakes.
Great theme interpretation and fitting audio. Nice job.

Can't Jump by x92rwzb 2015-12-14T12:51:00

This was incredibly frustrating to play - maybe lower the difficulty cap slightly? Though I guess that's part of what the game's about. Seriously though, this is probably the hardest thing I've played yet.
Levels were deceptively simply designed.
Kind of lacked sound effects and music (other than the menu), which may have added to it's addictiveness. Graphically, could use some improvement but does convey the meaning of everything well enough. Boxes could use bevels, lighting, etc. Player character could be less cubey.

Curse of the Slime Queen by mike.cullingham 2015-12-23T04:47:00

A pretty interesting concept - I didn't really like the controls, but at the same time you managed to make something quite interesting and a little difficult with them. You've laid down the foundation for something that could be interesting.
This is another entry that I feel would be pretty good on mobile, but at the same time, changing the control scheme would make such a big difference. I know you were trying to use two button controls but it really didn't feel like it fit too well.
Level design is okay, audio is okay. The HUD is well designed and shows the information that you need to know in a clear and concise manner.

Grow Up! by sergear 2015-12-14T17:00:00

Very impressive and innovative, stunning graphics, and fitting music choice to improve on the mood. Fun to play and addictive. A good deal of wacky things are thrown at you and you eventually learn how to avoid them. I'd imagine this would work well as a mobile game.

Dangerzone- the zen game by WERT Studio 2015-12-23T04:01:00

The models, although simple, were quite pretty. Space exploration currently feels very limited, but with some expansion, and a clear goal, this mechanic could be leveraged in something interesting.

GameApi VolleyBall by terop 2015-12-14T15:37:00

An interesting concept, while it was kind of satisfying to hit the ball, it didn't feel like my fault when I didn't. The camera was in a bit of an awkward position and the controls took some getting used to (maybe reduce the turning speed to actually allow some degree of control there.)
Graphically, it wasn't anything spectacular but you have managed to get some models together.
The theme implementation felt a little shoehorned into a concept you'd come up with before - while this may not be the case, this is the impression I came away with.
So to improve:
- Make the controls a little tighter
- Place the camera in a more logical place (such as behind the pitch looking down) and give more cues about perspective
- Brush up on modelling. It's hard, I know.
- Add more cues as to when you will hit the ball, sounds or visual warnings would work.

Jared and the Corn Nuts by cameronpenner 2015-12-23T03:56:00

Inspiring QWOP-style frustration, this is an incredibly amusing entry, if only for it's sheer ridiculousness.
The graphical style is perfect for this style of entry, and the physics are spot-on. Though this couldn't really go on to make a full game, as it stands it's a pretty amusing way to kill a few minutes.

WIP55 by Pending Chaos 2015-12-14T15:50:00

A decent attempt at an infinite runner. Physics were predictable, graphics were a little more interesting than just plain squares (although including more interesting backgrounds, characters and pickups may be good), audio was alright although the music could do with some improvement.

Pagdo by Tensoplast01 2015-12-14T12:16:00

Really addictive, a lot of fun to play. There were a lot of things to think about which gave the game a pretty frantic feel to it. The music added to the intensity. The instructions at the start were as amusing as they were useful. The only area it was really lacking in was graphics: everything was either a cube or a sphere, which is a little lazy.

ANTI-THUNDER by jamaster96 2015-12-14T16:26:00

As pretty as this game is, the interface is fairly counter-intuitive to use. Make text bigger and put controls in a closely-grouped logical progression.
The gameplay, for a button masher, is alright. The plant growth is fairly smooth, but it can be a little difficult to understand what you're doing.
As others have mentioned, having audio is a huge improvement on a game and many underestimate it's potential. This is the first obvious improvement you should make.

Durples Christmas Adventure by wuppy29 2015-12-14T16:20:00

A fun and innovative little game with good level difficulty progression and a lot of interesting mechanics. If you were to take this further, all it would need would be a graphical touch-up, some music, and some sort of menu system. Past that, you could just add as much content as you wanted.

Bay Col ! by Blake_Lead 2015-12-14T15:57:00

A really nice entry. Nice idea and very pretty. Audio could improve it to no end, and varying the speed and/or spacing could help with the difficulty level.
I can imagine something like this being quite a hit in the mobile space - it's a lot of fun and can easily be played in short bursts.

Tug-o-War by hyperscope 2015-12-23T04:57:00

An interesting concept.
The choice of music is a little confusing considering it's a fast paced competitive game.
The theme interpretation was pretty cool. The idea of two people on one gamepad is quite unique.
To expand on this, online multiplayer would be a huge enhancement.

13VS25 - 2D Space Shooter by TripleW 2015-12-14T13:05:00

It felt like there was a lot of artificial difficulty, and although the moving and shooting mechanic was the sort that's easy to pick up and difficult to master, the fact that the enemy is so much more powereful than you made it frustrating to play against. Adding a player-vs-player mode when you're on equal terms, or even an AI that you're on equal terms with but outsmarts you would have been better to play, I feel.

CRESCO by Robin 2015-12-14T17:40:00

A graphically and aurally enjoytable experience. Some diverse enemies, good level progression, and some challenging jumping puzzles. Very well polished.

The Almighty Spectrum by KoalaBot 2015-12-23T04:52:00

This had a really nice arcade-style feel to it. It took a couple of seconds to grasp the concept, but once I did, I was playing for a little while. It needs some sort of competition though, maybe local multiplayer or online highscores, to add replayability.

Tail Power by maartene 2015-12-23T04:08:00

Pretty fun variant of snake, without the unstoppable movement and with shooting added. Models are alright, but could be improved. I wasn't too keen on the colour palette used, but by no means does that subtract from the gameplay. The music was alright, and while it could be improved, it was decent enough.
Sound effects were fitting.
Adding online highscores or some other replay value would be a nice way to keep players hooked.

Currant Matters In Bird Town by fakefrogsonly 2015-12-14T12:27:00

Wow, all the characters had a lot of unexpected depth. What it was lacking on the graphical front it made up for tenfold from a storytelling and worldbuilding perspective. Thoroughly enjoyed playing, thanks for the experience.

Rogue Blast by Tjakka5 2015-12-14T13:32:00

A lot of fun to play, and the ramp up in difficulty gave you the right amount of tiem to get the hang of different mechanics before it threw something else at you. The music was fantastic.
The game felt like it would do well if it were turn based, the enemies taking a step each time you made yours, encouraging more tactical thinking as opposed to just kiting everything and filling everything with bullets quicker than they can hit you. Otherwise, perhaps a smoother movement animation would have been nice.
Graphically, the only big complaint I have is the contrast: walls and floors, and even the enemy spawners were essentially the same colour. There was nothing to really differentiate between them. Changing the colours of these would make the game easier to pick up while still maintaining the difficulty.
Overall, a very nice entry.

Tubutten Beetle by YinYin 2015-12-14T12:39:00

Fun and very addictive to play. The graphics are simple, but that's really all it needed. It's reminiscent of a lot of old mobile games (ninjump comes to mind).
Sound effects are satisfying.
If you take this further, it would be nice to have a competitive online scoreboard, and see where other players have reached.

Berg in Space by thiagoferraro 2015-12-14T16:57:00

Graphically relatively impressive and with good beats, the atmosphere was quite frantic. It's difficult, maybe too much so, but possible.
The wait time at the end felt too long, ading some key to skip Berk waving his arms about would be nice. Spacing out the obstacles a little more would also be kinda nice, although maybe that would rob the game of it's difficulty.
A generally enjoyable entry.

War... by Lapiroxx 2015-12-23T03:52:00

There's a fair amount of options, each having visible effects, but this feels like a case where the meaning has eclipsed the gameplay of the game.
Things I liked:
- The choice of music created an atmosphere with the soldiers falling that could not have been done with the animations alone. It feels a lot more serious.
- There are a large amount of choices, but only two at any one time, forcing a preference each time.
- The concept is fairly well thought-out.
Things that I think could be improved:
- Add some sort of achievable "goal"
- Add some sound effects
- Use a font that's clearer for the smaller messages and/or make the text bigger
- Make it more obvious what the repurcussions of each choice are.
- Add some sort of progress measurement, like a graph of the size of your army over time.

LD35 — Shapeshift

windowframe by managore 2016-05-07T08:06:00

Absolutely stunning entry. Level design on point, ambient moody atmosphere, really fun to play through.

Chamane by Spotline 2016-05-07T09:24:00

Absolutely amazing. Having a clearer idea at the beginning as to what to do may have helped, but I got it eventually, and what an experience that was.
Audio engineering was probably the most impressive I've seen in an LD game in a long time, and indeed even more impressive than many other games outside of LD.
Graphical style was beautiful, reminiscent of Proteus, but the changes in the game as you progressed brought out it's beauty ever so much more.
Really, really impressive.

Shifting Stronghold by alyphen 2016-04-20T07:06:00

Hi all. Thanks for playing! The Mac build we have up now should work better.

Shape Research Lab by SaintHeiser 2016-05-07T07:07:00

Absolutely stunning. Ridiculously hard while still being ridiculously entertaining. Takes a couple of minutes to get used to but after that you feel like a ninja when you complete levels.
A lot of content for an LD, could use some sort of level selection screen, and past that just expanding upon the idea with more mechanics could work really well for a full game.
Really nice job.

Jelly and Chrome by Yngar 2016-05-07T08:49:00

A really cool mechanic, and quite a nice graphical style. The hills rolling past was quite relaxing.
Handling was sometimes a little weird, the car flipping over caused it to roll diagonally a few times, but it's not impossible to get the right way up again.
Things that would really add to this a lot would be music and AIs/online multiplayer. This way you'd have competition and more atmosphere.

Do not play by AtomicVikings 2016-05-05T18:21:00

Haha, neat graphical style, weird but fun take on the infinite runner. I actually quite enjoyed playing this. Making the controls slightly more responsive would help, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Morph Space by LukeZaz 2016-05-07T07:29:00

Quite pretty, and an interesting mechanic to get the enemies to move over the mines. Perhaps it would have been more exciting if that was the only way to destroy them.
Sorely lacking music and a lot of other sound effects. These would have added a lot more depth.
After a while there wasn't really anything to do - perhaps adding some sort of congratulations for taking out all of the enmies would be nice.

Moonlight by Phaix 2016-05-07T06:35:00

Beautiful atmosphere created in this entry, really neat dodging mechanic. A pretty impressive amount of content for an LD game, too.
Really enjoyed playing this.

Maze Runner by varuns 2016-05-07T06:22:00

Pretty simple idea, but nicely executed. Minimal graphics and a smart little maze.
Level progression and audio (other than the simple footstep and smashing sounds) could add a lot to this.

In Artery by FurtherForm 2016-05-07T09:09:00

A really interesting entry. The mechanic is novel and very interesting, but sadly got swamped with enemies very quickly and didn't know how to avoid the large amount.
Collisions also seemed slightly off. A fruit fell in between where two of the keys I had enabled were and it didn't collide.

White Square by Nesfero 2016-05-05T18:17:00

Nice square, I guess.
404 when I hit the page, as with other commenters.

Silver Bullet by pavel_insight 2016-05-07T10:05:00

Very interesting. I think Mary #2 is the fake Mary, she refuses to answer about fetishes, and although she answers the same about where you met, she answers differently about the book every time. Mary #1 insists she has never read that book. Mary #2 also never states she is not the shapeshifter, merely accusing Mary #1 of being a shapeshifter, unlike Mary #1 who does.
Mary #2 comes out with a snarky comment after shooting yourself, as well, while Mary #1 is immediately angry at Mary #2.
Of course it's possible that the third Mary is the real Mary and everyone featured is actually a shapeshifter.

Super Sentinels by Brightstar 2016-05-07T06:42:00

The mechanic feels like it needs a little work, but the music is decent and the level design is alright. I couldn't figure out how to complete it without taking damage from the spikes, but you can jump relatively quickly from them so you can still survive.
Reflecting projectiles could be a bit more satisfying with some visual effects and perhaps some better sound effects. Perhaps if you'd got the robot destroying in it could be better.
As others have said, making the shapeshift mechanic more intrinsic to the game could help a lot as well. At the moment it feels very much like most other platformers (aside from the neat projectile reflect mechanic)

Trollslayer Road - a text adventure by BigAnt 2016-05-07T06:29:00

There's not really enough here to play, sadly :(
You set it up nicely and I was looking forward to reading the story, but past the first question, there wasn't anything to do really.

Sharpshifter by jonnopon3000 2016-05-07T09:05:00

Nice, simple mechanic. Perhaps allow more customisation as to how you "shapeshift" though, just getting them as you level doesn't really give the player that much control past the scope of the level.

A not-really-an-actual-game based on the theme "shapeshift" by Michael Feeney 2016-05-07T06:25:00

That's a very pretty fish you have there :)
A full game in this style could be really cool. Would like to see you finish it at some point.

Super Morphius by RoboNebula 2016-05-07T09:01:00

Moody atmosphere. Interesting level design. Sadly controls felt very clunky and the game itself quite buggy.
I nosedived after the first group of enemies and was able to see the entirety of the level without actually being in it.
Neat graphical style, audio was very repetitive though and got annoying quickly.

Cliff Shift by Drury 2016-05-07T07:35:00

Interesting mechanic but as soon as the raiders start hitting you there really isn't any way to escape. You die really quickly after that.
The music's really good and the atmosphere is well done. The graphical style is pretty neat, lots of nice particles all over the place and nicely done sprites.
Making the AI more predictable so the player could figure out a way to actually avoid them more easily would go a long way to help this entry.

Splash 'n Shift by linseyray 2016-05-07T09:30:00

Very pretty and weird mechanic. Definitely very experimental, if you could use this and make something with an actual aim it would be amazing.
Very good work with limited colours, particles, and a nice audio, fitting with the game well.

Shapey Jets by Yumeito 2016-05-07T07:12:00

Neat graphical style, the scrolling backgrounds worked well, health bars, score etc were about as good as they could look. Player sprite was slightly rough around the edges.
Shapshift wasn't really that intrinsic to the game. Seeing it become more important as a game mechanic would be nice.
Audio was well fitting.
Eventually enemies just stopped spawning and nothing happened. Was this intentional?

Adolf by mennchen22 2016-05-07T07:20:00

Physics feels a bit weird - remember gravity is a force that accelerates the player, so jumping isn't just an up/down motion - it's the force of the player jumping giving an initial velocity, followed by the continuous force of gravity eventually reversing the momentum.
The graphical style needs work, it looks like you probably didn't have an artist.
Collisions could be done a little better, often my helicopter would explode and it didn't feel like my fault, it felt more like the game's. This needs to be avoided.
Sound effect feedback could help a lot on most actions.

The music was pretty good, and from a writing standpoint a lot of the narrative was pretty funny and I enjoyed that a lot.

A really cool graphic style and some neat arcade-style gameplay.
Audio fits it realtively well and you've crafted the atmosphere pretty well.
Only thing that would make me play more would be some sort of competitive feature, such as online high scores.

Cool mechanic. Could have done with music during the actual game, but your choice for the menu was fitting.
Only big complaint is that it's too easy. When you do slide of the screen, it's anticlimatic and you don't really feel anything, but you can stay on as long as you play safe.

Pretty addictive and nice take on the theme.
Making the gameplay fit better to the music would be nice, although after having done audio games in jams before I know this is hard.
The music is very well done, and the game plays pretty well.
I noticed my controller vibrating but couldn't figure out the controls for changing shape on the controller.
Would be really nice to have some sort of competition, either online highscores or local multiplayer would be really cool.
