LD25 — You are the Villain

Renegade Theologian by rpgwhitelock 2012-12-17T08:49:00

Gosh, hope it's working, I was able to 'finish' it on each platform test I did.Tthough occasionally I would think myself sure I had them all only to realise I had one more to get. I wanted to avoid showing numbers but perhaps it's too mysterious - the number of books to collect is 8.

Glad it's atmospheric!

Renegade Theologian by rpgwhitelock 2012-12-17T14:13:00

I just tested it again on windows and web, 8 books reveals the secret in the sky. Keep loooking for books!

I think if I updated it, I would ensure that every time you collected a book it revealed the secret gradually rather than all at once. Better feedback from actions that way.

I haven't played Slender, but I have heard of it.

Renegade Theologian by rpgwhitelock 2012-12-17T18:15:00

After the books are collected you bask in the knowledge of what you have achieved! Also look at the sky goat. :)
Other than that there's no endgame. Enjoy the forest!

Renegade Theologian by rpgwhitelock 2012-12-17T23:31:00

Ah. I might have replicated the issue some have described. If you are sure you have found all the books, and nothing seems to change, be -sure- to look up and around at the sky!

Renegade Theologian by rpgwhitelock 2012-12-21T14:03:00

Maybe it should have been 'stealing the books' rather than collecting. It is all very thinly referencing Charles Darwin.

The base of the sky is a Unity default augmented with FX and particles. In retrospect I should have set Terragen2 running overnight or something to make an original one. The ground, tree & enemy textures are original, compared to the game logic & music they really didn't take long to make.

LD26 — Minimalism

Huoheian by folmerkelly 2013-04-30T10:35:00

Enjoyed this. Can see a lot of potential in the idea too.

Real potential here for a super-hexagon like title.

Don't Freeze by rpgwhitelock 2013-04-30T12:01:00

Thanks for having a look everyone. Perhaps later in May I will use the furthering of this idea as a project to learn some more C# & Unity dev.

Just about to start adding some more to this so I can start learning C# . Cleaning up the project a bit right now and trying to think of ideas.

Anyone have any ideas of what they would like to see? My initial thought was something involving staying warm, creating a strong sense of appreciating the warmth, a roguelike gameplay structure, you will freeze eventually whatever happens...

any thoughts or ideas are welcome.

Hello.

If you chance upon this page you may be interested in knowing that development of this entry is continuing under the new title "Into this Wylde Abyss".

I'm interested in audio mixing, so was pleased to see how this worked out. Nicely tied into the theme too.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

I Contemplated the Sun of Limbo by Evilion 2014-04-29T17:55:00

Compelling environment and audio with a strong visual style. Worth expanding on.

The world beneath by Spotline 2014-04-30T23:40:00

Really nice. I often hit an exit. I wonder what a better way of providing end points would be? Maybe a sight or event that left you satisfied and happy to turn around?

our god lives underground by Andrew Shouldice 2014-04-29T19:55:00

Really good. I think the noise/static effect is overplayed in LD, but you it had a nice contrast against the silence underground. Dante in miniature! Top down Gustave Dore.

The Sea Has No Claim by dukope 2014-04-29T17:30:00

Much potential in this. Bit confusing at the moment and it took me a while to find my first wreck, but it is a satisfying process! Like the visual aesthetic and audio design, not so keen on music which feels a little incongruous.

The Sea Has No Claim by dukope 2014-04-29T17:32:00

Oh, I tried both versions out too :) So the audio/music comments relate to the post-comp ver.

Ocean RESCUE by MerlijnVH 2014-04-29T17:50:00

The sea creature is very effective! Could definitely be faster paced overall and would really benefit from some added atmosphere via sound. I found myself wanting a radar to get a hint of where survivors are, and to get home too.

Under Google by mustaine 2014-04-29T21:19:00

Didn't know what to do. But the setup felt like a cross between the IT Crowd and Half Life. Brilliant. :)

The bunker game by hansolox1 2014-04-29T20:55:00

Enjoyed a Dark Room, so keen to see more of this. Keep it up.

Very nice! Great ambience and a world you can interact with.

God Hunter by iJohnF 2014-04-29T21:05:00

Very well put together. For an update I would like to have more meaningful choices to make. Perhaps if I could see what to click on next I could weight up the risks/trades involved. DesktopDungeons is a good ref.

Nice complete feeling. Good atmosphere!
