LD26 — Minimalism

Undercolor Agents by farmergnome 2013-04-30T00:00:00

Quite difficult on single player. I'll try to grab my bro later to try it out. (cause this was MADE for mulitplayer!)

Land of the Free by uberneen 2013-04-30T00:38:00

Liked the dark satire of the whole thing. Not much gameplay, but it was fun nontheless.

Stargazers by Cake&Code 2013-05-05T20:53:00

Loved all the references :) The graphics fit perfectly alongside the concept and gameplay. Really beautiful!

# by Tim Bumpus 2013-04-29T02:52:00

I got stuck really early on (blame my Ludumed out brain) at the part with the three bouncing yellow blocks guarding the other small one. I first found it odd, but the restrictive movement grew on me.

FreeFall by midgard 2013-04-30T03:22:00

Pilot Wings anyone? :) Felt very much like that great game. Good job!

Pilot & Command by HeyChinaski 2013-04-30T03:15:00

Hilarious idea, done extremely well! The minimalism aspect adds something I can quite put my finger on, but its awesome!

Escape Shaft by Zathalos 2013-04-30T02:00:00

You took the idea of a basic shooter, and turned it into a puzzle game by simply limiting the amount of ammo. I'm impressed! This game would sit right alongside PacMan and DigDug if it were in an arcade.

Chromatater by Jim Haslett 2013-04-30T23:26:00

This game looks good, but it sadly freezes up before I can play. Look really interesting, though!

Planes by phaze0 2013-04-30T23:32:00

Graphics and audio were perfect! I used to remember being addicted to one of these games wayyy back. Good job on recreating that!

Ten Levels by rujo 2013-04-30T23:11:00

Such a unique idea using the level information as the bits of the level! I really liked that aspect of it. I could see this becoming a lot more interesting if expanded upon...

Onion Harvester by cacciatc 2013-04-30T23:15:00

Such a difficult life the onion farmer has! :) I enjoyed the mellow music and the plentiful amount of checkpoints given. The only gripe I have is that the moving platforms seemed to have some odd physics.

Blue by TheFudster 2013-04-30T02:42:00

I liked the gameplay and paint mechanic, though the dialog -while good- was a little slow and unminimal.

XYZ by ataxkt 2013-04-29T23:53:00

Very "minimal" concept executed surprisingly well! The game has a very quick feel that I wasn't expecting in a puzzle game.

S by rodrigomotta 2013-05-01T02:33:00

I was carrying around the musical note, but I wasn't able to do anything with it. I really liked this idea, though. It's quite abstract!

Huoheian by folmerkelly 2013-04-30T03:45:00

Great graphics and sound. Stupid spikes are stupid, though XD. Really tough.

Kipple by rxi 2013-04-30T03:41:00

Good use of the theme, and quite funny, though the gameplay was a little lacking.

Rogue Pirates by Richard Matey 2013-04-30T02:07:00

Hilarious voiceovers, glitches, and everything! I loved how the ships would bounce around randomly (please don't change this if its a glitch).

Quest by Scott McBee 2013-04-30T00:40:00

Really liked the idea! Gameplay felt underdeveloped, but with only 48 hours (or less) to work with... Really cool idea.

Mondritron: 2026 by Dotanukii 2013-04-30T03:29:00

Good use of graphics and sound, and I found the gameplay to be fairly unique and difficult for a shooter. Good work!

Pixl by JaviCepa 2013-04-30T01:00:00

Quite enjoyable, even in single player. I loved how the movement of the squares was physics based, which was quite funny to watch when I got big enough.

CREPITUS by ENDESGA 2013-04-30T00:34:00

Gameplay reminded me of Super Crate Box, which is never a bad thing. The enemies seemed to have just a little too much health, and it felt like the action was slower because of it.

Quest by vinull 2013-04-30T23:30:00

The simple-shaded 3D graphics looked really good, and the gameplay was simple but tougher than I expected. Good job!

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-29T10:12:00

Oh, when you die the animation repeats until you press any button on your computer. One of the many things I forgot to make clearer. Thanks for the compliment :)

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T00:43:00

@Dax
I got off work with an hour left to go in the competition, and I didn't have about a third of the content done. I had to do a rush job on the menu, though a simple "Press Z to play" could have worked instead of the mouse...

@Jim Haslett

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T00:44:00

@Jim Haslett
I'll upload the game to YoYo Games as well and post the link here soon.

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T01:09:00

Added a mirror link at the top of the description.

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T01:37:00

@moomoo112, Yeah, I should probably fix that, I'll upload a new version soon, but until then, you can restart the room by pressing "T."

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T01:54:00

New version updated! Removed the infinite falling glitch and made Z and X start the game as well.

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T03:11:00

@IHateATMFees XD I had actually planned on having the ability to shoot up and down as well, but I only remembered to put it in minutes after the deadline. Lack of sleep can do some weird things :)

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T03:12:00

@netadept Actually, you can kind of do a wall jump if you throw your shuriken up against a wall and grab it. I'll take that idea into consideration, though, when I add on to the game!

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T03:35:00

@DaGamesta
Switched over to Dropbox per your request. I've learned something new for July, now!

@Dietrich Epp
My original idea was to remove the need for HUD elements like life and score, but I will think about that for newer versions.

MiniMaul by CloudiestNights 2013-04-30T12:03:00

@stqn That is another thing that never got past the idea stage. I'll add more lives in a future update.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas!

Tulip by Ian MacLarty 2013-04-30T01:31:00

34.83. I grew some tulips, and I stared in awe at the minimalism. This game right here sums up the theme perfectly!

Play The Game by Fervir 2013-04-30T03:36:00

Gameplay was fun, good use of minimal controls.

I Dream of a Beam by ocmu 2013-04-30T01:20:00

I liked how the enemies changed the music, and I liked how "minimizing" multiple enemies in one shot changed the sounds.

NinjaFlare by 8BitPimp 2013-04-30T02:26:00

Wow. Please improve this post compo? The graphics were simple and gorgeous. The gameplay was tough at the start, but really improves on the endless runner formula. This game reminded me of Nidhogg for some reason... A huge 5/5

NinjaFlare by 8BitPimp 2013-05-01T22:41:00

I've found out that the game is even more minimalistic if you only use z and x to move. It's quite difficult, too.

Sky Tea by OysterKLAN 2013-04-30T00:56:00

Such a simple and demanding platformer :) The gravity was a bit strong, but it was balanced out by the perfectly spaced jumps. I was quite impressed by the level layout. One of my top games so far!

Arena by rogueNoodle 2013-04-30T03:09:00

Loved the bullet wrapping around the level (reminded me of Forget-Me-Not on iOS) and found the gameplay quite challenging.

QbQbQb by rezoner 2013-04-30T00:20:00

Wow. I'm blown away by the polish of this game! I loved the changing music, I loved the graphics and idea. *slow clap* While this is most likely unintentional, I found that pressing A and the left arrow key at the same time moves the planet twice instead of once, which actually turned out to be a really cool idea. My only nitpicks about the game are that it was too easy and that a warning sign and sound would be handy for when a stack is five high. This is quite a wonderful game, and you deserve a top spot!

Square Quest by duskpn 2013-04-30T01:36:00

The graphics were quite imaginative for only being literally a pixel big. Fet like some places were inaccessible, but it was still enjoyable.

One Crate Sokoban In The Dark by stqn 2013-04-30T03:43:00

I liked the minimal view and the randomly generated levels. The only thing it really needs is multiple boxes and goals.

Minimalist RTS by aaron9000 2013-04-30T03:03:00

The CPU was evil on hard, and amassed a huge army in one lane XD Good game.

Procedural Island Happiness by nonatomicpaul 2013-04-30T03:26:00

Quite a happy amount of islands! Not a lot to do, but that's what the instructions say.

Ablaze by ignifluous 2013-04-30T01:07:00

Felt like a single player version of "Spaceteam." I didn't really understand a ton of what I was doing, but it was fun to try to fly a spaceship.

Zombies Ate My TItle by billybombill 2013-04-30T00:51:00

Gameplay did remind me of Binding of Isaac. I liked the use of limited ammo; it made rushing toward the stuff lying around more intense XD. Quite difficult, too.

A-Void by kingsman142 2013-04-30T23:34:00

I liked the piano music and feel, but the gameplay seemed to be lacking some speed.

Touch Blocks, Avoid Spikes by ecbambrick 2013-04-30T02:18:00

The only problem I had was with the controls. I would sometimes move a space too many because I would hold down a key for a half second too long. Besides that, the graphics and sound were calming and beautiful and the levels thoughtfully designed.

The Unseen by Lamprabbit 2013-05-01T00:51:00

Really nice idea with some clean and wonderful graphics. Found the pulse to be very hard to use, but I guess that's the point :)

Lookin for Love <3 by Filth and Money 2013-04-30T03:07:00

Potato! Normal Doodle Jump gameplay, though I did like how the circle created the path of the hearts.

Platformer '81 by foyosoft 2013-04-30T00:06:00

Fairly simple gameplay, which is to be expected with this theme. I like the Castlevania style jumping.

Potato The Destroyer by Cory Martin 2013-04-30T01:24:00

Gah! So tough XD Gameplay was spot on retro, though it seemed to lag a bit (possibly because I have a gazillion tabs open right now). Level design was simple but challenging, and the graphics were very crisp and distinctive.

T.O.M.B. by Knighty 2013-04-30T03:01:00

Very, very tough. And addicting.

Cage's Ghost by headchant 2013-04-30T02:13:00

The game felt a bit too slow and random at the beginning, but the graphics and audio were great.

Huit by nddrylliog 2013-05-01T02:26:00

Really liked the graphics, but the gameplay (to me) did not fit the theme very well. Still a good game, though!

Cubique Noire by Detocroix 2013-04-30T03:19:00

The entire game reminded me of LittleBigPlanet for some odd reason. The story felt very noir-like, and the gunplay was fun with the reloading mechanic.

Screaming Cubes by Shigor 2013-04-30T00:30:00

A fun little spaceship sim with some interesting gameplay. I would be interested in seeing this polished up!

Battery by onzephyr 2013-04-30T01:50:00

Wow, this is such a great idea! The constant persistent part that the battery plays added some really cool connection between the levels! Good use of the theme, too!

Cube Defender by kratorspore 2013-04-30T01:27:00

Graphics and audio were clean and simple. The gameplay was unique, but the controls took a little getting used to.

Long Live the King by Dax 2013-04-30T23:21:00

I found the gameplay simple, but refreshing for this genre of game. Pretty good game for the limited time!

The Square - By Suese by Suese 2013-04-30T01:03:00

And then it was a diamond :) Simple game made tougher with the delayed attack animation. Quite funny, too XD

First, You Take A Potato by KevinZuhn 2013-04-30T02:31:00

XD That is all 5/5

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Atticus VII by Deconstructeam 2014-12-10T21:59:00

Day 1:
Jettisoned the embryo lab, killing everyone on it. Watched it drift slowly into space sadly clicking on it hoping it would return. It didn't.

10/10 would fail the human race again

The Ace of Gases by spike_xp 2014-12-10T18:31:00

I ran it once and it worked fine, I picked up some sort of a vial, interacted with two different objects, and then he game crashed on me. It seems like it could've been interesting, it just didn't work for me. :(
