Interesting take on the theme. The first person view could benefit from a reticle in the center of the screen. Good job!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Zombie shooter FPS Top view

These are really two incompatible genres. I like the motion blur of the fps controller. Please do one thing in your update routine:
- Cursor.lockState = CursorLockMode.Locked => when in FPS - Cursor.lockState = CursorLockMode.None => when in TopView
Otherwise it is hard to play. :sob:
I liked it, but please add a crosshair or something it was very hard to see where to shoot. Also in the fps mode i thing your gun should have been a bit higher as the zombies looked like giants
I totally missed when or how you get to FPS mode T_T. Nice game, could do with a bit more feedback, a little screen shake or flash when you get hit or your base gets hit.
Won the game, but hit a bug in my first play. When I upgraded the tent for the first time, I was suddenly inside the tent (maybe to close while upgrading) and then I was switched to FPS mode and fell through the map.
@gemberkoekje you have to move away from the camp to switch to FPS mode.
@KayZ ah, thanks!
This is a bit confusing, to say the least. Still, you did manage the theme, and that is something!
Interesting idea, I think I would have preferred it to have a top down building stage, then a FP shooting stage. Was good though
Good job. I personally don't like control scheme from top side, when you have to control like in FPS, but at least it feets theme very nicely. Good luck with your next project.
Hey there. Quite interesting idea, well executed how the controls smoothly animate from top-down to first-person perspective. Adds a nice new level of strategy to the game (walking to the side, to get to first-person view and see farther).
As for what to improve, I think the graphics would work better if they were more consistent. You used 3D models with high detail on the weapon and the zombies, but the tent and the trees outside the camp were more in a low-poly style. Having all those be done in the same style would surely improve the overall look for your next project!
@apace Thank you for your detailed feedback! ...I loved your game
Controlling is a bit hard, but I enjoyed the game anyway. I like that I had to upgrade the base. Good job)
Well, nice concept. Did you made the model of the zombie? It's pretty amazing. Good joooob!
The game is pretty fun, but I will prefer see the bullets
I like the idea, fits the theme perfectly, and it was quite fun. A few points to note (a few of them have been noted by others already): - The zombies are too detailed compared to the other objects, they look out of place in comparison - Getting attacked really needs some sort of feedback, either a sound effect or something like a red flashing screen, first playthrough I did without noticing that I was being attacked - Some zombies liked to get stuck in the ammo-building - Personally I feel like it would have been better to switch between top down/fist person view with a keybind; when I spotted zombies at the other side of the tent in top down view I had to walk further then really necessary to be able to shoot them accurately - As a plus-point, the rectangle that others asked for earlier was added, which helped with aiming
Overall good idea, maybe not perfect, but still well done :D
Thank you guys for you critical feedback, i will definitely think about it with my next projects!
The zombie models looked awesome!
What I loved * Ran smooth * Custom engine gets extra stars!! * 2 really incompatible genres, but I loved what you tried to do with them!
My Thoughts * graphics need to be a little more consistent, I loved the zombies, but the rest were a bit too much on the low poly side. Having them all in 1 style would definitly increase the overal feel, vibe & atmosphere of the game. * Bit confusing at first glance * Control scheme was a bit weird * Like someone else had stated, crosshair would be nice! * Fell through the map once after switching to fps mode.
I’d love for you to review my submission as well.
Good game. It took me a while to get accustomed to the controls. I think that you should aim with the mouse when you're in top view, since that was my main issue with the game. Also, it's hard to see the bullets when in top mode.
Great work!
Nice game, the controls are neat and getting used to it is fun. Out of the other entries this was was indeed fun to play.
It could use more weapons and grenades. Or turrets. But of course - not everything is possible over the weekend.
Keep up the good work.
I got through 4 waves or so before stopping. I don't know if it's just the web version, but mouse sensitivity was SUPER high on my computer in first-person mode. Moving only a tiny bit would move the crosshair a lot, so it was really hard to aim. Also shooting at long distances didn't seem to hit the enemies.
It's an unusual concept, but I couldn't figure out what made it switch between top-down and first-person mode. Is it just on a timer?
Last comment, I think switching tank controls for a more traditional WASD would work better.
Also nice graphics! The shadows are very fancy.
Quite confusing and kinda difficult to control. The graphics look nice and polished though and the concept is very interesting!
Interesting take on the theme. It could have used a mini-map in overhead view, and I was always a bit confused as to what the upgrades did, but the shooting mechanics were pretty satisfying.
Bit hard to control - turned mega fast in fps, and seeing where you were shooting in top down was hard. Yet and interesting combo!
Hey there! Congratulations on your entry! I feel like we both had similar ideas on this jam. Take a look at my game whenever you can so you understand about what I'm saying. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand
Feedback time! What I like: I like swapping between the two camera modes, even though I sticked to the top down one most of the time. It's simple and straight forward.
What I don't like: Bullets are spawning kinda distant of what you'd expect of a gun. Enemies come in line, so you barely have to aim at all. I didnt know what to upgrade because I had no idea what each of the stations were for.
