This is quite an interesting predicament - so this serf owns a house, but no clothes? It was pretty tragic to see him nakedly T-pose on top of the carrot chest, days at a time. This is the first Ludum game I've seen made in Unreal - which also accounts for the nice lighting in the scene. However, I wasn't able to get very far, as I couldn't figure out how to pull a carrot from the chest in order to plant it. I'd like to see this further developed, but I thought it was neat!
This is a great commentary on the impact of modern capitalism. Another day still no carrots.
@instanttrain First time developing with Unreal for a project so it lacks maybe a few of the features we aimed for! I updated the description with controls since I couldn't get the HUD to work at the start.
Press 'E' at the chest to buy carrots and 'E' to plant them!

Had some trouble with figuring out the controls before the description got updated. It feels of course very rough but I do like the theme, maybe with some more polishing I would have enjoyed this quite a bit more.

Great idea, of course the implementation was lacking, but it's easy to see what you were going for :)
Wish the timer wasn't so harsh though... maybe give the player a minute or something like a short time bonus for planting carrots?
Could have been a fun little arcade game, the days were a bit short so it was hard to figure out what you wanted to go for at first. I wish you good luck for your future Unreal projects !
It might be my computer, but the game completely died on me after a single day. As for the bit I saw: A bit of a tutorial or a "Press E here" popup would help. And yeah, a 48/72 hour challenge is not the best opportunity to learn a new thing, but on the other hand, if you join again next time and do another Unreal project, you'll be able to use what you learned this time so all good!
@gemberkoekje Not sure about the game crashing like that since I never ran into that problem. I disagree on using a 48/72 hour challenge to learn a new thing not being a good opportunity. I think it helps one learn a lot in a short space of time, even if the end result isn't great the knowledge and skills gained can be huge.

The idea is okay and I like the music. The days are way too short, and there is not nearly enough to do in the game. But at least I hoped you learned a lot about using the Unreal engine.

Game very well done, I liked the fun provided, good job!
Game looking majestic, being three-D, but gameplay feel not much so. Anyway good luck with future UE projects!
Nice idea! Could have been added more creative things if you had more time, but in 72 hrs, it good work. Please visit my game too and rate it. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/the-dumb-robot

The game look really nice and it's a great an unique idea, though I wish you had more time to fill up the gameplay more, the days seem a bit too short. Overall - nice game!
