Fun game, but you should give a little more feedback on what is 'on beat' and 'off beat' other than just dying. Half the time I felt like I was moving on the beat and still got caught, even though I wasn't in the light area.
Looks very cool and the idea sounds cool as well. It is probably me but i have a hard time to distinguish what the guard lights are and when to move so i get caught all the time
@gemberkoekje On-beat was actually when the lights turned on in the level. I should have specified that better. Thanks for the feedback tho!
I saw the lights, but it would've been better if, for example, the screen would shake when you move off beat, and the worse you are off-beat the worse the screen would shake. That way you give feedback on player actions, instead of just showing the beat.
@gemberkoekje If I ever make this into a full game, I'll be sure to make those things, thanks!
Good use of theme. Wish I could see farther so I could see the guards. Right now the cone of their vision is not always clear and it can be frustrating to get "spotted" by somebody off screen who happens to be on the edge of looking your way.
Also, counting "1..2..3..4.." the movement beats the code is looking for are on the up beats of 2 and 4. Was confused for a while thinking it was going to be on the down beats, 1 and 3.

For me the idea was really fun, but the game was much too difficult for me. But the music is really good.
Interesting idea! Pretty challenging moving in the rhythm when you try to escape the guards. But it's kind of relaxing in a weird way...Also, not always clear what beat you should pick up, a visual indication in the beginning would be nice
Hahaha! I enjoyed the game. I was trying to implement a rhythm game myself but couldn't make the beat code. A really great idea and it gets hard sometimes. You accidentally follow the wrong beats.
Cool concept, nice style and awesome soundtrack, only issue is its hard to get the beat right, a little indicator that helps you keep track or a metronome ability would make the game easier to pick up.

Holy moly, this is a majestic implementation of the theme. Yeah, there are some things, already mentioned by others (clearer guard lights, cause of the death, etc), but this is a very good idea. It feels like I am in casual spy movie. The music is good, the feeling how I sneak by the guards beat by beat.
I rarely enjoy small games, usually I like to play (and want to make) games with lots of replayability, playtime, etc.
**But this game is exceptional to me!**

Fun concept and it is one of the best rhythm games I've seen this marathon. I was kind of worried how jazz would fit in this kind of game but you kept it simple enough that it was easy (at least for me) to figure out the beat.
I had some issues though. The beat detection seemed quite iffy at times and it can feel very bad for the player if he thinks he hit the beat but the program thinks otherwise. Especially in this game where hitting the off beat is very punishing. I would have tried something like guards turning towards the off beat action. Another issue I had were the guard sight lines. In some maps they were way too long and that gave player no chance to counteract when guards were turning.
But overall, as a marathon game (and hard genre to implement) it was very good!
Hitting the beat was a bit unreliable, but I was still able to enjoy it. Great job!

Pretty great entry! reminds me of Crypt of the Necrodancer just... more chill. well done!
Fun concept, and the best rhythm game I've seen thus far in this LD. The problems I have with it is that the guards turning around insta-catch the player, which makes it more of a grind to replay and replay until you get the right solution instead of actual skill. Good concept, good execution and a load of fun.

this was pretty fun, I liked the music too which helps a lot in a rhythm game!! Sometimes it wasn't clear when a guard was actually seeing you, so at times the light would be shining on you but you weren't caught and then at others it seemed like you were caught regardless. But that's only a minor thing. Great job!

I did not manage to get out of the first bit without being noticed. It really hard to tell whether it was because I was off the rhythm or was seen by the guards. Difficulty (for me at least) was way too high from the start. The game could have benefitted from a sort of practice area, less guards and time to get used to rhythm. Were lights pulsing in the rhythm? I’m left confused.
Music was good, the alarm really loud. Graphics in their own blocky way were charming. Overall I wish that I was better at this or the game easier. Idea is really interesting but I didn’t get experience it for more than couple of button presses.
