Definitely gets me in the Halloween mood! Excellent graphics (like omg, how did you do this in such a short time frame??) and I died laughing at the character howling/screaming at the doors of the houses. The combat felt a tad bit sluggish, I would've liked if it was sped up a little more. I could've explored that game world forever - reminded me of the fun I had as a teen playing Sneak King. Excellent work! :)

yaroslav-kravtsov 2019-10-08 00:40

C'mon, you are using Synty Studios assets (Fantasy Characters and Knights packs). You should opt-out from graphics nomination.

pcoridan 2019-10-08 00:55

@yaroslav-kravtsov Chill out, we tried quite a few times when uploading it to do that. Even now it doesn't work.

tero-pulkkinen 2019-10-08 01:24

this was pretty nice experience. But you're using lots of assets and it causes frame rate problems on my laptop. But the assets look amazing. I had little trouble figuring when the fighter actually hit the enemy, but otherwise looks good.

conroy 2019-10-08 02:01

@arielle-stroman and @tero-pulkkinen Thanks so much!

tomeks 2019-10-08 02:22

Very nice looking game, seems like tons of work for such a short time frame, one thing I would change is to make the damera orbit without the need of pressing the mouse button . Unlike others didn't have any frame rate issues, played full screen on my 5k mac screen.

umsee 2019-10-08 02:58

This game made me feel pretty ...Mixed. I loved the music and the graphics but the camera, Not so much and the animations were a little off throwing me off my game feel. It was so hard to hit enemies and the trees were always obscuring my view although I wanted to play this game I couldn't.

kr0s 2019-10-08 07:18

The graphics look nice, the lighting creates a nice Halloween mod, but the combat is glitchy as hell. Hard to hit enemies.

zhorky 2019-10-08 13:47

Nice mood. Even though it ran pretty slow on my older hardware i had quite some fun trying it.

eryph 2019-10-08 13:49

The graphics and lighting are beautiful, but i'm sad that the combat mechanics were this poor... I could zoom out camera to the sky, making me see the bounds of the map, looked weird x) Good job anyway, that kind of 3D games are incredibly hard to do on a game jam !

venik 2019-10-08 14:05

The graphics of the game are very beautiful, great gameplay. Good work. But I'm not sure that the topic is revealed.

catiliangames 2019-10-08 14:21

I know you used some pre-made assets, but it still takes skill to build such an atmospheric game. Howewer, the game was quite laggy for me and controls were a little unnatural. To be completely honest, the main mechanics of collecting candy and fighting weren't all that engaging to me. Don't get me wrong, you built something very complex here, and I think what you accomplished in 3 days is amazing. Good job!

deathstorm 2019-10-08 16:11

Trick or Treat....

That game was nice to play. Had some fun. A bit more polishing and this game has really some potential :)

Keep going, Well done

tommyflower 2019-10-08 16:38

the game looks good and the music in really nice. But it was very laggy and hard to play because of that.

tonzuko 2019-10-08 16:41

The graphical style was really good and the fighting felt snappy. The halloween mood was on point!

mattwagar 2019-10-08 17:02

I'm assuming this was an asset flip, so it's hard to tell what you did and didn't do. But I'll assume you at least did the level design and the candy mechanics. In terms of level design, I think it's all laid out very thoughtfully. Definitely conducive to a non-linear experience, but knowing generally areas with light are where enemies are. It was fun to go off the road and find a graveyard with cute particle effects. In terms of the candy mechanic I didn't quite understand it. I mostly was just hitting enemies until I eventually died. Also the UI for both the candy and health is pretty bare bones. If this is your first time using Unity and wanted to throw together assets to make a cohesive game, I think you did a great job!

conroy 2019-10-08 17:29

@mattwagar Indeed we are just two coders, with little to no modeling / animation ability, so we used purchased assets. We've both been using Unity for almost 2 years, this is our 5th LD :)

kanacell 2019-10-08 20:54

as in the previous comment, it's easy to see the use of assets but you juste said that you're 2 coders so it's quite understandable but you did good to create atmosphere with also the music. The attack ranges seems a bit simple/weird. Anyway, for only 2 peoples, great job to you !

alchemic 2019-10-08 21:25

Low framerate as others have said. I like the idea, but it gets repetitive quickly. Some kind of time limit or objective would make the mechanics feel a bit more cohesive. Nice atmosphere, it was fun to explore. The physics seem a bit weird, I got stuck a few times.

Regarding the use of assets, of course that's perfectly fine, but it is a bit distracting. I always prefer handmade assets, even if they're extremely bad.

a-french-canadian-studios 2019-10-09 02:02

Never got any candy from enemies. Laggy framerate. Appreciated the concept but I think my version was broken.

autumn-schutt 2019-10-09 15:01

The graphics were really nice, and it was a great concept. The framerate was pretty low on WebGL so it made it kinda hard to play. But there is clearly a lot of work put into this and it was nicely done. Thanks!

humphreysmedia 2019-10-09 15:24

Funny little game and very themeatic to the month! The audio caught me surprise when I got tricked, but I love the assets, especially the houses, they're supe quirky! On issues I had were that I didn't realise I recieved candy until I looked at the counter, if there was some kind of user feedback that would have been amazing! Also if I could shop down the grass with my sword, that would be a lovely extra touch. Other than that, a great game!

rebecca-harrison 2019-10-09 15:26

Fun little experience! I'm not sure exactly why I sometimes got candy and sometimes got witches and I could go back to some houses to knock again but not others? I got 45 candies though which is legit. Had to turn off the sound because the witches cries were too loud.

hydrate 2019-10-09 15:44

Nice music and graphics! I love the mood! But I haven't got a single candy after killed 5 enemies lol,

flying-dog-fish 2019-10-09 17:03

Nice game and atmosphere, but where is the candy? It's a bit laggy and the music just stops playing at some point.

m-dam 2019-10-10 14:23

You should have credited the fact that the visual assets were not yours.

The gameplay itself needs a lot of improvment, there is almost no feedback to the player's actions.

pcoridan 2019-10-10 15:50

@m-dam Opting out of graphics and music is enough to point that out. Care to elaborate on almost no feedback? Swing sounds hit animations on the mob and knocking sounds on the door and animations to go with it What else could we add? You could be more constructive then whine about assets as stated earlier we are two programers and wanted to build something a little more grand this time.

elysiagriffin 2019-10-30 02:31
