I had a rough time understanding what I was supposed to do in the beginning, but other than that I had a really good time, I think this might be the most ambitious game I've played so far! the voice acting was really good and set to mood perfectly, I also think this was a really interesting take on the theme.

Adding the new wind mechanic at level 2 was really punishing tho, fuck me did I have to redo that maze a few dozen times, haha.

I found the mace upgrade, but after I entered the next area I got booted back to the title screen so I think I won? overall I think this is a good entry, I just think it's too bad that most people probably won't play it because of the download size. I think a 1GB download is a big ask for a game jam if possible maybe make a web build?

boxedmeatrevolution 2021-04-28 00:49

I also got booted after the wind maze, so I guess I also finished. I can tell there were a lot of plans for this entry, which probably didn't all get fully realized in the game jam time. Hope you will come back to this in the future!

liss1024 2021-04-28 18:10

@simex Thank you very much for your feedback! The version of game we submitted for jam was very raw and bugged, even player wasn't able to get at third, last level of the game. We are looking forward to continue work on this project, already made some fixes not for jam:) About size - yeah, it's the biggest issue for us. We will see what we can do about it:)

liss1024 2021-04-28 18:14

@boxedmeatrevolution Thank you! Yes, we will continue making our game better:)

nabo369 2021-04-30 13:55

Interesting idea for a game, I like the idea of you having to fight in hell while maneuvering through each layer

skoopidy 2021-04-30 17:04

For those who read the comments we have already reduced the zip file to 500 mb ^^

unagiv 2021-04-30 18:07

Wow, this is serious. I loved it. The athmosphere is great. Congrats to all of you <3

skoopidy 2021-04-30 18:15

@unagiv very sweet of you, thank you :)

tiseno 2021-04-30 20:29

Could not play the game

CreateProcess() returned 2

baconinvader 2021-04-30 21:07

I also got the `CreateProcess() returned 2` error

andrewaprice 2021-04-30 21:37

Unfortunately I can't give a rating because I got 'CreateProcess() returned 2" error.

soarendev 2021-04-30 23:37

Wouah really ambitious project ! That means quite impressive overall, but of course hard to polish everything (and that's normal!).

I liked the mood, and the intro cutscene was clearly a big big good point of your game :D Really hope you will continue working on this beacause i'm sure you can really polish these rough ideas.

(I'm still amazed you guys took the time to do voice acting for a game jam submission hahaha)

Anyway, Bravo to you guys for achieving this in 72h :muscle: :muscle:

skoopidy 2021-05-01 06:19

@tiseno @baconinvader @andrewaprice sorry for the inconvenience, i have fixed the game, if you feel like giving it a try again i would greatly appreciate that.

skoopidy 2021-05-01 06:20

i wonder how many people left negative ratings because our "fixed" game didn't work (┬┬﹏┬┬)...

skoopidy 2021-05-01 06:23

@soarendev thank you a lot! hope we gonna provide our players with... shall i say, smoother experience on gmtk (ノへ ̄、)

tiseno 2021-05-01 10:56

A little bit too hard, I could not survive the first room even once if I tried to fight. But hey I could just skip it by running past them :D

The next level I found some sort of secret? But I was not able to pick it up, I was not able to activate guiding lights either. And the wind mechanic was impossible to understand for me so I never got past the lava :(

andrewaprice 2021-05-01 12:39

Great graphics, theme, and story! I couldn't make it past the wind maze - it kept blowing me into the lava, and combat was a bit fidgety.

bmacintosh 2021-05-01 20:59

What, no humor rating even though it's a comedy? jk. Very ambitious game, especially in level design, and it works decently enough. Combat is pretty hard, I think only succeeded by abusing some AI quirks - best tactic seemed to be to run circles around the enemies while swinging, and sometimes they would get stuck and I could stand behind and hit them. Perhaps a block or parry could provide a cleaner experience there.

I don't think anybody rates games if they can't play them, I know I don't, I just skip them.

plepletier 2021-05-02 15:27

Good game!!! The ambient and the graphic is amazing! In some time my char slid and walked alone and i fall in to the lava! kkkkkk I also found it difficult in the battle. The char is slow to attack and almost never dodge to enemy attack!

timo-gass 2021-05-02 15:35

Nice looking game. Sadly the lave killed me and doing the labyrinth over and over again wasnt a lot of fun :/ Anyways a solid fundation to improve on!

vphyre 2021-05-03 03:42

I liked the idea that you implemented. The 3D graphics are interesting, as well as the sound too. I think the controls are ok, although at times they were inaccurate. I feel that in the end your project could deliver more things or different goals, although I recognize that the short time of a game jam always results in sacrifices in the game. In general I think it was an interesting experience. Congratulations.

thinh 2021-05-03 06:25

Pros: The mechanics worked well for the most part and the UI was good for the most part on the title screen.

Cons: The game was fairly difficult, you are unable to kill all the enemies in any given area for how much damage you output compared to how much you receive. On top of that, I felt very confused on where to go in the game entirely, and ended up going into a "passage" that immediately took me back to the title screen.

Overall, the game was pretty alright, there's definitely room for improvement which I saw you posted on later after which is great!

skoopidy 2021-05-03 09:06

@thinh @vphyre @timo-gass @plepletier thank you for the feedback. yeah, this is a common issue with our games – lack of playtesting.we are aware of crushing difficulty and we are going to address it in the final version and in our next games as well. thanks for playing our game!(^人^)

min4uk 2021-05-03 12:35

@plepletier that was wind pushing u to lava )))

plepletier 2021-05-03 13:53

@min4uk yes, I read this here, but in the game I didn't see any feedback showing me that it was the wind.

jakob-hellermann 2021-05-03 19:18

Liked the different spin on the graphics, very different to most other games here.

skoopidy 2021-05-04 07:40

@jakob-hellermann thank you, although we didn't make the graphical assets we still put a lot of effort into tuning animations, tweaking materials, picking just the right props and ofc building beautiful content rich levels (✿◡‿◡)

min4uk 2021-05-05 07:08

@plepletier i will work on it next time better :D , thx for your feedback :v:

leyaotang 2021-05-10 17:36

It was like a 98 - 2004 dungeon crawler demo game. Very demo indeed. I felt a little of the dantesque atmosphere. Too much little bit of all due to the rushed art. In contrast, the opening voice over was the rare jewel here! If you would like to expand your dantesque game please take a look at my paper about the history between videogames and Dante, it is in Portuguese mainly but you could take a sip from it I think. Congratz hell friends! My paper - https://www.atenaeditora.com.br/post-artigo/12894 Paper abstract - When thinking about phases and distinct scenarios and characters on a hierarchical structure, there is light on adventure, action, and RPG games. The culture of digital games relates to that, in what concerns our skills as readers and players. However, what have strengthen this culture? One of the most relevant contribution is the Middle Ages’ rhizomatic book The Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri, that acting as modern semiological tool reflects and establishes audiovisual, interactional, and ludic aspects on literacy, even though it keeps entertainment as key of the entire process. The research aims to identify the exchange between occident and orient in what concerns the dantesque work adapted to serious electronic games, carrying out considerations about its reverberations on teaching-learning contexts.

yaroslav-kravtsov 2021-05-13 17:03

Wind section on level 2 and no checkpoints - it's a game breaker. But in general quality of your game is good enough and I would like to see more games like this on Ludums.

abdul-zakkar 2021-05-16 19:36

I think I made it to the last room with the crystal floor, mace equipped! The game looks awesome and the vibe is great especially with that first voiceover. Combat was a bit fiddly in my opinion, and that wind section was very challenging! Overall very nice.
