Mb for this, I wanted to preshot the itch.io and published instead of keeping it in draft ^^"
Amazing level design, amazing mood, graphics and overall experience feels very polished. The only critics I could make on the gameplay is that with the various camera angles and low luminosity the navigation is sometime hazardous and I did not always understood where I was going. Even that was not that much of a bother
Elegant, simple, and beautiful. Well done !
Just amazing! I usually play&rate only web games but I couldn't resist myself after seeing this short video. This is one of the best games on this jam. It's so polished that I wouldn't be suprised if I saw it on Steam. Really great job guys!
Edit: btw this is first time I rated a game 5/5 in all categories!
Ooooh amazing lighting in only 72h !! GG
These graphics in 3 days, howwwwwwwwwwwww. Amazing visuals and mood. That said, I'm afraid I didn't love some of the mechanics - the keyboard controls were very difficult in places (you did warn it's better with a controller, but I don't have one I'm afraid...) and that combined with the fact that I wasn't seeing where I was going made the progress a bit too annoying. (By not seeing where I was going I don't just mean the dark, but rather some specific places in the dark in the rear of the room where I just couldn't see there was a gap between the walk and the wall and kept falling in) But I guess it's just a part of the challenge of the game! Also one small thing - there was a room where burning stuff made it impossible to progress, but the candle could jump to safety; would it make more sense to throw the candle into the last save spot regardless of whether it survived or not? Anyways, the visuals are just absolutely out of this world for LD, well done!
Awesome concept and game itself! Many cool game mechanics. My favorite is low passage when player have to burn out for needed height. BTW my entry has a similar name XD
Pretty nice execution. The visuals are stunning and the sound design is pretty solid. I think the controls need a little bit more tweaking, but other than that good job!
This is an Incredible game ! The only bad point of the game is the 3D platforming which is really hard to see where to jump in the fog if we can't control the camera but this aprat the game is amazing ! So much great ideas, congrats !
WOW !! this game is epic !!!
Wow! I think this is an excellent game in terms of mood, and execution quality of both graphics, audio and gameplay-maps. I love the idea of the character being a candle - serving two purposes: 1) creating the atmosphere, but also 2) to show time elapsed. Well done, this is excellent.
Graphics are really appealing (reminds me of disney standards !). The gameplay is nicely balanced, thank god there is check points ! The effects and lights are amazing and this is a clever mechanic. Bien joué, la France est présente
Really love the art and direction. Beautiful game, and the gameplay is fun and smooth. I could see a lot of unique puzzles and interactions you could put in an adventure game like this. Thanks for submitting!
Excellent execution! You guys are pro! I'm happy to see such high level of quality on jams.
Just Beautiful :astonished: :crystal_ball: And as a keyboard/mouse player it wasn't that wild :) Great job!!
Great idea for a game. The graphics are really good. Fun game play also!
Amazing game ! It's a really cool concept, and very well executed. The end is very cinematic, that's impressive. Mechanics are easy to understand and well introduced.
The little detail that bothered me is that it can be hard to know the depth of a platform in relation to where we are sometimes.
This is probably the best entry I've seen so far. With relatively little assets you created a lot of different gameplay aspects. The music fits great, the lighting and particle systems are amazing, the idea is original, the use of the camera is professional and the legs of the candle are a gem. The only commentary I have that includes feedback are the controls. While they themselves don't feel wonky, with the camera from this perspective it sometimes becomes a little unpredictable where you land after jumping. Amazing entry!
I **LOVE** this game! The atmosfere is amazing, graphics and sounds blend together very well! As suggested, I played with a controller, and I was not disappointed about how polished the gameplay was!
Good job!
Very impressive work, you seem to make a great team! Had to play on keyboard since that's all I've got, but I'm sure it's better on controller as you said. Some areas were difficult to stay balanced or judge depth, but that's a common issue with games like this. The game reminds me of the "Little Nightmares" games, with the lighting & atmosphere.
Anyway, great work!
This is such a ***wonderful*** little game! The setup, use of the theme, mood and technical execution were all superb. You folks really brought this little candle to life! I honestly could see this expanded into a longer mini-game with other mechanics added to it.
Thank you very much for doing this. It's ridiculous that this one does not have higher ratings!
My only complaint is that the moody music could be a bit longer, as it felt like it could develop into something really nice if it continued on!
This game looks brilliant (pun intended), the only feedback I have to give is that the camera made sometimes difficult to gauge the direction of some jumps, otherwise, great entry!
No shot this was made in 3 days but if it was then good job. really nice mood and graphics nothing exciting but relaxing to play
Wow, really nice polished graphics here. I fell in love with this candle :)
Just wow! The art is incredible, the concept is smart and the atmosphere is top notch. There were a few jumps that were hard to judge due to the camera position, and a few spots that were too dark, but otherwise the puzzles were clean and the game was smooth start to finish. I appreciated how well the checkpoints were placed and how fast the game moved forward. The procedural animation for the candle and the candle's feet were great, as well as all the fire VFX and volumetric lighting! Obviously the game is very short but the quality is at a professional level no doubt.
Great game, the level of polish is incredible for a jam game. The level design is smart and the graphics are amazing, well done!
This is how it's done. The whole thing is so well rounded that by the end of it, I honestly forgot that it was a Ludum Dare entry and was expecting to go for another few hours on an intruiging and atmospheric puzzle platformer journey. I'd ___really___ like to see more of this.
I failed the second balloon because it fly away and then walked into the background and drop to infinite.
Walking candle is cute and there are fun puzzle mechanics with the light with burning flame - and you had time to implement many of those in this game. There are also normal maps and other graphic details in this game, which is nice and fits in to the game. The light would have a shadow-dot below it while jumping, because there are no way to see where it going to land. Also the light would be a slightly more bright, while can't see whats in the room.
While the background music is good but way more looping, and there are not much environment details, like other small lights or particles, or the "story elements", the base of the game is like from the real playable game. The tween between puzzle-rooms does make game play in the parts and like story in small chapters, which is kinda fun and important to story line based games, which this full reminds. The mechanics are very simple but there is much ways and lot to do. I don't know is the lamp a walking gadget or is it enchanted, the game play is engaging, even while did not reach the end because there were some small bugs in level structures.
My fav of the jam, absolutely fantastic. Could see it being a whole 6-10 hr game
Gameplay could get a bit annoying (but I don't like too much of a challenge in my gamejam games, so that might be just me). The jump with the first unstable platform was outright frustrating. Took me 5 tries each time to land on it, and then I'd fallen down with the platform anyway.
Apart from that, it's beautiful! Giving this any less than 5\* in mood or graphics would be a crime. Well done! :tophat:
This is top-quality graphics for a 3 day entry, it's absolutely beautiful!!! Congratulations for making such an incredible game! 5/5!
Absolutely blown away by this one... The level of polish is incredible, and I think you've got a really great little mechanic here (I only died a couple of times due to falling off the level so I didn't actually see it, but I assume running out of height is a game over too?) If this is 3 days worth of work, I can't wait to see what you could do with this and no time limit!
Amazing game and one of my favorit on ld49. Here one little thing that i didnt like - controller. He have same problem as the Little Nightmare. But for ludum its epic anyway. Awesome job!
Very cute premise with a ton of fun gameplay potential. The graphics are outstanding, as well as the level design. As mentioned above, the mix of low light with some holes in the floor could be frustrating, but once you fall and die once or twice, you know where they are.
The music loop is nice and moody, but very short, the other sound design is on point though.
Overall really fun, and probably the most beautiful game I've played in this jam. Nice work :)
This is soooo good. Original idea, cleverly used for gameplay design. 5 star graphics, audio and mood. Very good looking lighting in Unity which is insane.
How interesting to be a Candle!!! It soo cute! I enjoed your atmosphere. Lightning and post-proccessing looks awesome!
I think this game is more relevant for "Keep it Alive" than "Unstable". But it was dandy work.
This is beautiful, idea is orginal and execution is amazingly good!
I see one problem - it's hard to recognize where the candle stays, so it makes hard to decide where and when the player should jump. Maybe some shadow under the player or something like this would be helpful.
Overally, great job!
A real GEM of a jam game!
The art is absolutely fantastic, the level design is really on point for such a short time. The candle being the timer and our main light source, and having to wait to adjust its height to pass levels are brilliant ideas, it all fits perfectly together. Pyromaniac tendencies are kicking, I had a blast just watching the surroundings burn (glad there were checkpoints) :D
The music was pleasant and atmospheric, though the loop could've been a bit longer. Sounds of stuff burning were great as well. I always appreciate when there's some settings in the menu, and yours was the most developed so far, so well done on this too.
Like others have already said, controls on the keyboard were a bit funky, it was quite hard to aim because of depth perception and WSAD not being perfect for this camera angle, but nothing game-breaking. I also agree on the light issue - holes in the floor were sometimes not visible enough, I had to remember where they were from my mistakes to avoid them.
All in all, one of my favourite games so far, félicitations pour votre superbe travail !
At first, I thought it was a clipping from a movie. That's how I was impressed by the graphics of this game. My first thought was that it is some kind of indie remake of Beauty and the Beast. There was also a talking candle. Perhaps it is worth revisiting the old cartoon, many years ago I loved it very much. And by the way! I already have a version of the next game for you :) I'd really like to see such a light bulb drawn in your style https://www.vont.com/product/vont-bulb-color-smart-light-bulbs-smart- bulbs/. I fell in love with it after a week of using it at home. Now I want to see something similar in the game, lol. Hey guys, what options would you suggest?
