LD49 — Unstable

Nukular Falling Tower by blearn 2021-10-20T09:52:17Z

Would be cool if we could wear more hats, and collecting them would give us points at the end of the game, that would push me to gather more of them. The controls were okay, maybe a little too slow when walking, and as someone wrote before, the dodge didn't seem to do much. The music and art was nice, and the animation on getting hit was cute. Overall I had fun, wish it was a bit longer! ;)

Wow, I'm impressed by what you delivered in such a short time and with a team of 2 ppl only!

The art is sweet and the music fits perfectly. I like the fact we're not immediately thrown into the game, but there's a skippable intro with a story first, then a tutorial. However, with further levels I found it difficult to read the tips and serve customers at the same time, as there were so many of them right away! Especially due to the waiters bugging by staying next to customers' table, not doing anything (sometimes even with the 1st customer, which at later stages was really painful). This is really the only bug I've found within the game.

BTW, if you'll develop this game after LD49, with all what's happening on the scene, maybe you could add some sfx to alert the player that sth has happened? Eg. machine is broken, food/drink is ready, customer getting impatient etc? I remember DinerDash having special sounds + animations for each event, that was really helpful to keep track of what's happening.

I also appreciate you added sound/language settings, unfortunately the sound ones weren't working when I tested them.

Congrats on making such a great game, I had a lot of fun and I hope you'll develop it further!

CandleLight by PaulLyaudet 2021-10-21T15:09:46Z

A real GEM of a jam game!

The art is absolutely fantastic, the level design is really on point for such a short time. The candle being the timer and our main light source, and having to wait to adjust its height to pass levels are brilliant ideas, it all fits perfectly together. Pyromaniac tendencies are kicking, I had a blast just watching the surroundings burn (glad there were checkpoints) :D

The music was pleasant and atmospheric, though the loop could've been a bit longer. Sounds of stuff burning were great as well. I always appreciate when there's some settings in the menu, and yours was the most developed so far, so well done on this too.

Like others have already said, controls on the keyboard were a bit funky, it was quite hard to aim because of depth perception and WSAD not being perfect for this camera angle, but nothing game-breaking. I also agree on the light issue - holes in the floor were sometimes not visible enough, I had to remember where they were from my mistakes to avoid them.

All in all, one of my favourite games so far, félicitations pour votre superbe travail !

Toil and Trouble by bassguitarbill 2021-10-20T09:28:56Z

I tested a few games with brewing potions' mechanics and I must say your's the best one so far! Very cute art, the brewing was hard enough to be entertaining for longer than I thought and the cat giving tips was a nice idea as well. The music was pleasant from the beginning to the end (I admit spending a bit of time in the attic doing nothing but listening to the radio with the Ghost :D). All in all, a really well-made game that I would love to see more of, congrats!

Unstable Rocket by asdeph 2021-10-20T10:10:14Z

The controls are hard at first, but it gets better after some time... couldn't keep my rocket alive for more than 10 sec anyway :P I really like the art and music, though you could turn the crushing sound down a little, as I kept loosing a lot at the beginning, the repeating loud sound was a bit too much. Nice entry, a little balancing and you could make a cool mobile/browser game!

Happy Glasses by VarunDevs 2021-10-20T07:38:41Z

I agree with all that's been said before - the music needs a bit of polish (though I found myself humming it after I finished playing :D) and the background could be of a different color to see the water drops better. I got stuck at the same level as another guy, the one with a long line of spinning squares, and the cup teleported itself to the other side of the screen a few times, but overall I had fun :) Would be a nice, classic phone/browser game if you add more levels and polish the weaker points. And most important: Congrats on finishing your first LD game!
