First thing first, I love the artstyle!
Controls are a bit funky, it is really hard to focus on spell sequences, placement and orientation at the same time, at first it was a real challenge to hit a fireball. But I wonder, point&clic for placement and cursor location for direction would've made it waaaay smoother, but the game would've lost this part of challenge/reward kindof thing that comes with succeeding to master the controls. It is a whole design choice by itself. I guess for a quick game with less than an hour of gameplay, it makes sense to chose this over more QoL, but at some point down the line of designing lots of spells, mobs and bosses, even level design...Content in general, it might imply some restrictions from a "player capability" perspective. I mean, what even is the point of a game that is too hard for mere mortals with average attention span and focus, to play ?
Cool game! Thought inducing about design choices.
Great game, very reminescent of magika and I do believe we need to explore those mechanics more, the controls are a bit clunky and I understand its a design choice to make the miscast a punishment instead of just rewarding getting the correct sequence, maybe it needed a bit of a visual element to remember what button was what. Still great job on such a small timeframe! Kudos.
Great artstyle, and I like the challenging gameplay! I enjoyed kiting around enemies and casting my dinky little fireball spell as fast as I could before inevitably mis-inputting it and eating damage. I do wish there was a way to cut off my spellcast early if I know I messed up.
For a game that encourages you to experiment and try different things I think it's a funny choice to have certain spells damage you, but that's exactly the reason why this game ended up being pretty memorable for me. Kudos for sticking to these brutal design choices and for making such an interesting game in a short amount of time!

Fun gamplay, great work! Did not have any problems with the controls. Couple of minutes and you can get used to it.
I love the voice acting, and the 3d models are really nice! I also love how you can use spells before you "learn them" if you restart. I had a lot of fun with this, great job all around!

The controls feel good and the visuals are very impressive, good work!

this is like an object lesson in how to jam! like, you decided to use very few or no textures, but you totally made that work as an art style. really impressed by how far you pushed the concept, too. If I had one criticism it'd be that having all the enemies moving on diagonals, but the player on the arrow keys, made the difficulty pretty brutal (and you also had some intentionally brutal design choices in there....) It also felt weird to be casting spells with my WASD fingers. Loved it though!
I'm very, very happy that you chose to have the wizard guy hum along to the song at the end of the game.
Great audio and sound. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there was more than one enemy and someone tryed their best to make sound effects for the second one (won't spoil it here). I would like to see a little more visible feedback on each element. Lack of healing is preventing the player from experimenting, once you have it, there are already game winning spells in your arsenal. Lastly, I was able to bug myself into very low movement speed, is it possible that it is connected to your damage?
A great idea for a spellcasting mechanic. I found it easier, and more advantageous, to just make use of the fireball throughout though, and water heal when not in a battle. The other spells were too difficult to remember, and no design decisions forced me to make use of them. I was also far too tempted to take all of my battles to doorways where the enemies would get stuck. If you could make it harder for me to make things easy on myself, the game might be a little more fun. I really enjoyed the art and the audio. I think it would be really helpful to have a door creaking open sfx for when all of the enemies have been killed in an area and progression is possible, as making the same tip to a locked door several times was frustrating. The game was fun and engaging enough for me to manage to finish it, so well done for that! Great visuals, and the chests were satisfying to open. I'm not sure why, but with each hit of the fireball, enemies sank further into the ground before dying. Great game, and thanks for sharing!

@xsangyhix Hello, thank you for your feedback. Regarding slowing down, speed is not related to damage. You found a bug! We have implemented a patch, so thanks to you no one will experience it in the future :)
Very fun gameplay! The theme of spells with a combination of letters is very interesting
Is Wizzard a reference to Terry Pratchett's Rincewind?
Very cool idea, I finished it with a 38150 score. Some balancing issue tho, as the base attack spell is just the best base option and do very little damage, you ended up cheessing them in corridors. At the end the Air Chick is very op lol. It's also a bit hard to aim, maybe a twin-stick gamepad approach would have been better.

Nice game, quite similar to Magicka on the basic design side but with its own quirky style. There's a very Naheulbeuk/Discworld vibe to it, which I appreciate. Some issues with balancing I think, as well as kinda rigid controls.
Overall a big kudos for you to achieve such a result in a jam!
Awesome work! I really had fun playing. Polymorph spell and the room with chickens are top :)

Looks nice! Reminds me of magicka. Sometimes it is hard to aim for me, maybe that is because of lack of aim directions, but feels great in general. Are you going to continue development?
Very nice game ! I Like the art, and it's really fun to play it. It looks like magicka (good point for you). However, it's a bit hard to aim.
Nevermind, congrats for this game guys.

Hi very nice game, had much fun playing it :). Was wondering what program did you use to make 3d assets?
I see great potential, this game looks very nice!
Top tier game. The art and atmosphere are top notch, and the core mechanic is clever. I beat it! I think aiming as others have said is a bit of a challenge, and I felt to some extent the best spell was the very first one (the ||chicken|| one is OP of course but it doesn't give you money). There were so many spells, and so many were just not terribly useful, that I would just use 1 or 2 at a time so it kind of defeated the purpose of new spells. The ||heal|| spell also made it nigh impossible to lose, and the very last stage is a bit too sprawling (I was walking in circles to find what I missed). All in all, excellent entry!

Hi @vizitas , thanks for feedback. For 3D modeling we used Blender. For texturing we used Adobe Substance.
Very cool. Damage felt a little low from fireball but that's not a big deal. I found aiming hard as well when trying to specifically hit things.
All of that said- I enjoyed it a lot! great animations, good audio, cool mechanic. It's obviously got stuff in line with Magicka but a very cool entry.

I just want to say, thank you for pausing and waiting for us to try the spell combination first before throwing us back into the game. It's a lot of combinations to keep track of, so it's good getting used to it. And it quickly feels like I've mastered a bunch of cool combinations.
I really liked the combination mechanic to cast spell, the art was nice too. the only thing that really bothered me was that it was so hard to aim. i think the gameplay would have been better if we could aim with the mouse and have point and click movement or if it was controller compatible. Aniway i still really enjoy your game. Good work!
This is a really nice take on some Guantlet-like spell and loot mechanics. Really fun to play, and I like the spell instability/damage mechanic.
Graphics are amazing and concept is neat but gameplay is really boring because you are functionally invincible. Just spawm water shield and then you have no concept of taking damage. Even if you do, you eventually get a free heal spell. Then at the end you get the insta kill combo (chicken ring -> fire ring), which isn't even challenging because you can constantly pause to bring up the spells so you know what to type

cool game! Giving some real Magicka vibes. Quite like the idea of comboing keys to cast spells. My only suggestion for improvement would be to somehow improve the aiming.

The spells were fun and diverse and the Ai worked decent (noticed they run away when low on health and alone). The movement is pretty bad in my opinion, better switch to mouse like Diablo, just right click to move somewhere and use aiming with mouse to cast spells in a direction, this will greatly improve the overall gameplay experience. The enemies have a hard time to hit you, maybe make them a bit more challenging (little less HP, little more accurate when attacking). Overall great entry.
A fun well made game, good graphics and sounds and nice level design too. The game play works well, though hard to aim between the normal 4 directions. The effect with enemies getting slightly stunned could be done better, maybe so it take a certain amount of hits before they get stunned otherwise you can just spam fireball and they can never get close to you, then stronger enemies could be made to take more hit's before getting stunned. Learning the spells is difficult but the enemies are not, which is what I feel the game is missing!

Very fun gameplay, I loved finding new scrolls or accidently learning a new spell by simple "asdfwasdaswda"-dom :D
It felt a bit weird to get the right angle to actually hit an enemy, and the enemies are in general a bit bullet-spongy, but that's all the criticism I can find really. Great work!
Really cool art style! The game looks great and the concept seems fun the problem is the controls getting my character pointed in the right direction was very difficult. I spent most the time missing because I couldn't figure out how to get the player to move the correct way. It could be a really cool game if that was solved! Still congrats on the game!

This is my favourite jam game so far -well done! Quite innovative and I really like the graphics. I prefer to use WASD for movement so I wonder whether an alternative control scheme keeping the spirit of the game would be possible. Also it can be a little hard to aim, and it would be convenient to be able to easily cast and move. Hope to see more from you :)
This is what we wanted to in our game) But we did it mush worse) Graphics is very cool, nice animation VFX of spells is something unbelievable, wonderful! You have to get used to controls but you do it. What confused me is that I constantly was doing wrong spells which led to self-damage. But it is what you need in order to learn to use correct spells. Of course I used fireballs the most often :) Turning enemies into chickens is really funny :) But then I understood that even chickens damage you! I was so upset killing chickens) Sound is nice, like in a good production game All mechanics work nice, no bugs spotted Environment is nice, I would love to have such in our game Overall this game is... nice:)

Fun spellcasting system, great graphics and audio, and overall nice polish. I think the game could use some balancing because after learning the chicken transformation spell, enemies were really easy to kill.
wow, nice graphics!

Greatly appreciated the Linux build  Feels a lot like Magicka and like Magicka it could use some more precise controls (with mouse or with analog stick), even more spells. More undesired spell effects could also bring much more fun to the game. A couch co-op mode would be a nice touch as well.
Overall nicely done & dobra robota
Hey! I want to mention right away that graphics are very great. But gameplay, that's where it gets complicated. It's hard to hit your fireballs with that type of controls, sometimes enemies kill you from a very big distance (I still don't understand if it's a bug or they jist can do some sort of range attack). After you die you need to go and complete the same tutorial which is fast but still a bit frustrating. Overall, cool game, thanks for that! I enjoyed it! Good luck!

Had a blast playing this. There's potential to be more than a jam entry. The spells became a pain to remember at the end, had to press ESC to read up on them all the time. Personally I would suggest that you move the input display close to the center of the screen. It's really the core gameplay. And if you want to make the combat better you should invest in a very basic targeting system. Great job!!!

Love the art, the sound, the general idea and especially the chicken spell! Controls were difficult at time to actually hit the enemies. Just like with Magicka I did a ton of unintentional spells.

Cool game! I liked the funky spellcasting mechanics, though I did find it super hard to line things up so that you were facing an enemy. Might be better if the enemies had less health. Really enjoyed the presentation, though, with the sound and graphics!

Seems like a really cool concept that could be good for a rogue-like/rogue-lite style game if you ever want to develop it further post-jam. Could be better with a bit more enemy variety, and maybe a few balance tweaks (for reference, I'm pretty sure the powerups are random in that final room, and I got the airchicken powerup in like my second chest which made the game a bit of a pushover). But overall, very fun, and with a bit more time I think you could make this into something really cool with a few more spells so it gets harder to remember how to do the more basic ones.
Cool game, nice graphics, rare to see fully animated 3D games for a jam like this, well done! The controls were pretty awkward though, it was really hard to aim the spells where you wanted them to go with this control scheme. Given that it seems you're supposed to be a ranged character this make the game more frustrating than it should be. Also there doesn't seem to be any way to quit the game?
I will start my stream about 9pm Uk time. Hope to see you there. https://www.twitch.tv/thesoulselector
A straight 5 stars game! Super funny and very polished (I actually open a notebook for write down all the spells ;D) Great job! Untitled.jpg
Really like the concept ! Match perfectly with the theme.
The only things that bothered me was the arrows controls and aim. I was wondering if the game should have been quite triple A tier if you had diablo like input like moving with mouse click and aming with mouse position.
Still a great entry for a Ludum, Gj !
Wow! This game feel like a comercial game, i think is one of the best, awesome job! is all great
I little hard tho lol

Had fun, beat it! Liked the amount of spells you were able to get in and the variety of them. Some ideas if you take it further, I could see some of the spells helping you with certain level obstacles (hitting a switch you can't reach otherwise, etc) and perhaps enemies that can be only affected by certain things. Nice job!
Little hard but fun
