Hi, it's me again! I hope the score did go up by more than one because I gave the game pretty high scores.
Anyway, for the game itself, the game is nice and well fitted with the theme, I like the concept! The models are nice and the sound effects are good too, but I had some issues with the game so here there are other suggestions of how to make your game better:
- The inverted pitch is nice for the joystick feel but it really makes the game so much more frustrating for no reason, flip it back!
- It's kind of hard to navigate in the world, I sometimes didn't know where the core is. The core being the main light source helps a lot but a minimap would be cool :)
- Balance the game, it's really easy to lose control and die, maybe a wave-based system would be better
- I think you should add a high score system so it will make the player more interested in the game
Hope I helped! :)
Hi, it's a really nice game! I like the theme in that game :) There are two major things I think you should improve in your game:
- Make icons for the traps, it took me a couple of minutes to realize that these are the traps in the corner.
- Make the tutorial more intuitive, maybe create a tutorial level?
Overall, it's a good game :)
This is a super cool game! Nice to know there are other no-game-engine people around here (we used C++ btw) ;)
It's a really fun game, the "Oh no!" sound gets me every time, I really liked the part that the player had to go through the wall in order to proceed in the game. The aggressive lady is a good addition as well. The graphics are great.
I really appreciate the no game engine approach, we did as well and god knows how hard it is! high five!
In short, you nailed it!
I really like the 8 - bit art style and feel of this game!
There are three things you might want to improve: - The goal of the game is kind of unclear - The end of the game messed up to me too - In the intro, give more time to read the text, I wish I could read as fast as @sayumeki ;)
Have a good day :)
That game was really fun! I really liked the way you took the theme, very original. I see you had a hard time with the game engines, yeah, I hate when the game engines just decide to not cooperate. The graphics and the music are awesome btw :)
My first impression playing this game was "How the hell did he manage to make this game in just 72 hours?!" This game is really well made, the theme connection is a little bit weak but it's ok, it's a great game anyway ;)
I really liked the intro, it's kind of rare in Ludum Dare games. The graphics and audio are super nice.
Good job! :)
Hi, that's a really nice game, I love the concept and the music and everything :). But I had one thing that I made me taking 1 star from this good game, the controls! I played both versions and in the first one the physics wasn't great but it got fixed, in the other version the cursor was visible and I couldn't spin the camera too much. So that's my major problem with your game. But other than that, that's a great game :)
It's a really fun and interesting game! The overworld music is absolutely amazing, the combat system is cool as well. Good game mate :)
I really liked the game! It's a nice and relaxing 3D platformer. The graphics are super awesome and the level design is also well implemented.
Good job! :)
I'll get those goddam gnomes someday!
I just finished with a score of 37000 which is pretty normal. This is a really fun and relaxing (relaxing?!) game! I love the 8-bit retro feel of that game, in the graphics and the audio, which are awesome btw.
Good job!
Hi, that's a really good game! it's really polished, I really liked the way you went with the theme, it's really original! the graphics are simple and cute and the music and the sound effects are great too. The intro was nice as well.
Notice that sometimes the alien bumps really fast in the same place and you get about 10 points.
Have a nice day :)
Awesome game! :) I love the consept. The graphics and audio are amazing.
No, this is not for grinding ;)
Ok, the captain made it feel stressful like I'm really losing in a race :) The graphics are well made and so as the music, the game itself is pretty polished, although there are some bugs in the wiring system. The only problem I had with this game is the difficulty level, maybe it's just me (probably ;) ) but I had to watch the solution video because I couldn't figure it out myself, but I think I actually did solve it and I didn't even notice, maybe play a sound when the machines are crafting?
Overall, this is an awesome game! Good job :)
The game is really polished and fun, but hard :) Good job!
Hi, it's a nice game, I survived only two puzzles :P but it's a fun game. The game makes you think and that's cool. The music a super good. I really like the intro :)
The is a really fun and diffuclt game! I really liked that you took the fire thing the other way around. The graphics and the music is nice too!
Overall this is a good game that I had loads of fun playing :)
Hi, I really like that game, it feels like the Doom guy went camping :D
The concept is good and so as the graphics! I'm sure everyone let you know about the camera issue, it's ok... it's your first 3D game. I really like the fog visual effect (enemies popping out of nothing got me jumping sometimes) but I think you should make the fire always shown through the fog, which will make the goal of the game even clearer.
It's a really good game, great job! :)
BTW, amazing game description
Well, I got to 3, is that good?
Anyway, you took the theme in a really original way, it a good game! :)
I really like this game! The art style is great and so as the audio :) I had a really fun time playing this although I got to only one ending (I might try to unlock the other endings later) :(
The only issue I had with this game is that when I got the letter from that girl I went downtown and she wasn't there, or maybe it's just me.
But anyway, I'm really impressed by the amount of content you guys managed to add in such a short time, not even considering the art, amazing job :D
Hi @airola, the problem with the level loading is caused by the size of the console windows, it supposed to be full screen. As for the error, it happened when you tried stepping out of the shown area at that specific level? I'm currently trying to solve your issue, but if you have a Windows 10 computer laying around it would be better to play on it.
Ok @airola, I think the problem is caused by the sizing of the command line window, that's why the levels are so messed up. Here is a [link to a website](https://techjourney.net/how-to-fully-maximize-command-prompt-window-in-windows-8-7-vista/) that tells you how to maximize the console window in windows 8, do this in the first level after "maximizing" the window.
If you need more help just tell me! :)
Hi @koljam and @acdia, thanks for playing our game! :D
I hate those bugs but we didn't have time to fix them, maybe the next game engine will be less buggy ;). Yeah, this time we have dedicated more than half an hour for the level design :P glad you liked it!
Really @acdia? I programmed the enemy AI part and let me tell you something, it's not the best AI...
Thanks again for playing our game!
Hey @philstrahl, thanks for streaming our game! :)
I think the issue was because you had a lot of things running on your computer when you played, we didn't program the engine quite efficiently so maybe it couldn't function right because of no RAM available... maybe the next engine will be better ;)
But if you are still interested you can try it off-cam (by the way, running through the buttons as fast as you can helps sometimes), anyways thanks for playing our game :)
Thanks so much for the nice feedback @brenno263, @postmeridiangames, @chief141, and @lazzydev72! :D
Wow, that's kind of embarrassing, we didn't know about Nethack, oh well... We used special characters in our game (not that crazy when I think about it) but we could use them only on entities, but we may change it in the future @brenno263 :)
Really @chief141? we were very concerned that the gameplay is bad, it's nice to know the gameplay is good :D
Thanks @lazzydev72! I think we will ;)
Ok, this is a tricky one @sandra-martinez... :) I guess you started scrolling from the top, right? I think this is happening because the levels can't be printed, is there a "res" folder? Can you try downloading a different version if it doesn't work?
Thank for trying hard playing our game btw :)
It's a really original way of going with the theme, I really liked the story!
The concept is interesting. I found it kind of hard to navigate in the level and as @vizitas said, I didn't have much time to read the text but it was ok, I think you should make the scope half-transparent and maybe make the circle bigger.
But overall, I really liked your game! :)
This was a fun, yet difficult game. I love how polished the game is and the graphics are awesome! Great job on that one! :)
Jumping around as this squishy ball felt super satisfying! :D I couldn't find any ending to the game but I got a score of 27, so that's cool.
I can see the potential of making this to a fun platformer game, so if you want I think you can keep it going :)
I didn't see any connection to the theme in this game but you said that you didn't have time to finish it so maybe you didn't have the time to add the theme in.
It has potential, consider that. Have a good day! :)
It a really fun and original game, I was so focused while playing it :D
Again, the way you dealt with the theme is very original.
Awesome job! :D
Hi, just saved the alien from the evil army, I'm such a good person ;)
I really, really had fun playing this game, the combination of protecting the truck and fighting the enemies really reminds me of my first LD game, but you guys did it much better :)
The graphics and sounds are awesome!
Amazing job! :D
I really like the simple and straight forward feel of the game, the graphics are nice too! The game made me really stress at the beginning so that's a point for you I guess.
A really good job! :)
Really nice and relaxing game :) the boost is kind of annoying though :P
That's a really cool game! :) but it's really hard too, so I didn't make it past level 1... :P I'll try again later, but that didn't stop me from being impressed by the quality of the game :D The graphics are great and the audio really gets you into the mood. Overall it's a good game, maybe I'll have better feedback when I actually finish it ;)
I did actually had an issue playing this game, when I had a fire extinguisher picked up and I tried walking up the stairs and the room was a little bit on fire, I couldn't go up without using it...
But anyway, good job :D
Hey @acidmanrpgz, I played your game and really liked it! The concept is really interesting and the way you fitted into the theme is super original, keeping your soul enemy alive in ordered to win! About winning, I didn't manage to win any level, I don't know if I'm just bad and don't know how to play but the Hydra circle was following me and I didn't have anywhere to go, so that's unfortunate.
It's a really good game, great job! :)
BTW I really liked the soundtrack!
A nice and polished game for one impressive LD journey :)
Hi @convg, I played both versions and had double the fun playing this game :) The graphics and the audio are well made and the story is really cute :D
Here are my suggestions to improve your game:
- Make the father's pathfinding better, he gets stuck very often - Make a reason to collect money, like a shop or something like that - Make the father more important, at the moment, he just walks. Make the enemies go for him as well and it will add a whole new element to the game, it will even help for making shops (where you can buy health potions for you two)
Oh and also a thing I wanted to ask you, is the dungeon generated randomly every level or the game is just longer than I thought?
Anyway, amazing job!
BTW, when you restart a level, it keeps the money you collected from the last attempt.
Ok, that' a really good and polished game :) the idea is very original. The graphics are absolutely awesome and so as the music. The game is pretty simple and I love it!
Good job! :)
I wasn't able to make it but it's a great game :) The graphics are very good. I was really surprised by how complex the game is considering it was made in 72 hours. The only thing I think you should add is a minimap because I kept getting lost.
Great job! :)
I really like the art and the audio of the game, they were amazing! The story is really quite original as well.
I have two things I think you can improve: - The controls are super weird, make it that 'W' and 'Space' will do the same thing (it's pretty confusing to have Space for jumping and W for ladders) - Make the water physics better, right now you can get into a loop that you start floating normally and as you float you're getting deeper and deeper and get out of the water higher and higher
But overall, it's a really fun and cute game, especially for your first Ludum Dare game, good job :D
I really liked the art style and the audio and overall had fun playing this game, although it's kind of hard ;)
Good job, it's really polished!
It's a nice game :) I love the art style of it! I sometimes got stuck on one control, just to let you know :P
Good job!
I don't know if it's just me but this game made me feel unstoppable, like I can jump anywhere I want :D
I really like the concept of the game, the graphics and audio are nice as well.
There are only three things I think you should work on: - Make the pieces of music fade more smoothly into each other (or just make a main music) - Make items easier to collect - Be clearer about what each bar does (like HP and stamina)
Overall it a nice game, good job :
This is a really fun semi-rage game, I had a great time finding all the traps :)
The only issue I have with this game is that it's too short (jk, I know it's super hard to make, trust me, I just really enjoyed it).
Great job! :D
It's a really cool game! :) I really liked how you simplified the concept of running a ship and still made it really fun. That's a really good game for your first Unity game, keep it up!
Nice job!
Hey,’ it’s me again! :) I played the game for real now and my high score is 194 (is that good?). I really like the idea of the game (the story too). The graphics are really nice. I think there are only two things you need to improve in your game:
- There is no way to tell how much energy is left on the computer, so maybe add an energy bar. - Instead of throwing items off the platform, just add a sell basket next to the fuel one, it will save a lot of time
Overall, it’s a really fun game, good job! :)
I don't know what I just played but I know I love it.
Yeah C++ no game engine team! Let's go! :)
I played both versions and all of them were fun! I really liked the way you combined keeping the fire alive while attacking with it, +1 bonus point for encouraging the player to fight for more fire. The audio and graphics are great!
Good job! :)
That's a reallly nice and simple game! :) The graphics are excellent and the lighting is good as well, Good job!
Any chance for a Windows build? :)
I really liked the idea of the game, and it's well-executed. The graphics are great and the game is polished. Here are my suggestions to improve the game: - Make the graphics less noisy because it's kind of distracting - Make the game easier but it might be just me - There were runs which I didn't get any module for a long time - You might want to improve the mouse- aim character animation, it's kinda weird right now
Overall it's a really good game, especially for a game jam, and I had fun playing it :)
So, first of all, it's nice to see another person with a custom game engine. I really like the game, I love the feeling of the freedom to move in space, but this game is SO hard, I didn't manage to find my way out of the lab.
Here are my suggestions: - Make the game less dark or just make the flashlight last for more than 5 seconds, it will make the game less confusing to play - Make the rooms less repetitive so it will be easier to navigate
Other than that, it's an awesome game :D
This game was a blast to play! I really like how you took the idea of the time loop and made it really simple and fun. My only suggestion to improve the game is making the laser being stoped by the block, it could be cool and it makes the lasers way fairer than now.
Good job :D
I don't know what I've just played, but I know I like it. The dialogs are funny and easy to understand. A really nice game, you clearly aren't a big fan of Elon Musk I think.
My only suggestion is to add more time to read the dialogs
I really liked this action- tower defense game. It's very cute and really satisfying to win. I didn't really understand how the theme goes practically with this game but that's ok. As @kaganobik said, the microwaves are loud.
Btw, I made a game really similar to this one in LD43, so high five :D :hand_splayed:
Ayyy, I made it to 40 seconds on hard mode (it's not that impressive when I think about it). I really like fast and crazy games, especially when they're polished, like this game :)
I would add the ability to hold the button instead of repeatedly pressing it, it was really hard to make the super sharp turns.
I didn't encounter any black square so yay, great game! :D
First of all, custom game engine gang high five :hand_splayed:
The game reminds me more of Adventure than anything else, there is something about walking in quiet, dark rooms that make this game so fun to play, I didn't manage to finish it but I'm bad at video games (heck, I managed to beat our own game only once :) ).
The idea is really original too, keep it up!
Ok, this game is an excellent time burner, I just spent half an hour playing it without noticing, +1 for you. I really like the descriptions of the upgrades and the music was really good as well (yes, I know it was added later).
Amazing game and a really good job!
I like the idea of this game, and a point and click game is a good way to implement it.
Btw, custom game engine gang high five (SDL, nice) :) :hand_splayed:
Keep it up!
The game looks, sounds, and feels very good. I love the cute art style and the dialogs, there are two things that you might want to consider adding: - Better game instructions, I couldn't understand how to make up my mind about who's the murderer based on the items and the dialogs - Make fewer things to check
Overall, it's a solid and well-polished game, good job! :D
I really like the idea of the game but I have some suggestions to improve it:
- Better controls, the current controls are really annoying, the player feels slow and kind of unresponsive, and sometime I'll just get stuck on a slope even if I jump
- Checkpoint!
- The slide is pretty weird
Overall, it's a nice game, just some control work is needed :D
The game is really well polished, the mood is amazing and so the assets and the animations. A really nice game idea, you integrated the theme really well into the gameplay.
Btw, watched your game at PixelProphecy's stream, it was fun :)
I managed to get to 76, yay!
Maybe it's just me but this game reminds me of the graphics from the beginning of the internet, it was pretty fun to play. Yeah, I didn't like the theme either...
Nice job! :)
Oh my god, this game was so amazing, weird, and creepy at the same time. I've never seen anything like this, especially in LD. The game is really creative, polished, and unexpected.
Amazing job!:D
Ok, this game is really fun and looks really cool, but it's SO hard... I'm bad at video games but this is something else.
The art style is really nice and I like the music, they really put you into the mood.
Here are my suggestions to improve the game:
- Better controls, I got stuck at corners sometimes - The camera has potential but it needs to be smoother - Health packs, please!
Awesome game, mates! :D
If you told me that a single guy made it in 72 hours I wouldn't believe you, this game is so cool.
First of all, the controls a very easy and intuitive, when I had to go up for the first time I didn't even think about it and it worked, so that's +1 from me. You may want to make the stopping less snappy, the spaceship shouldn't stop immediately after letting go of the mouse.
The assets are really nice as well, and I really liked the music.
Awesome entry :D
Thank you so much @raffe! Yeah, the game gets more fun after you learn the mechanics (and the weird controls...). The only thing that we didn't have time to do is the animation :\ but the monsters are cool anyway :D
@adiwan there's an indicator actually, the circle is drawn on the ground, but it's pretty blocked by the GUI, so we might add an additional indicator in the future, thanks for your reply :)
@tubadude99 and @chocolat-endive, yeah the game is pretty hard, it took several time for my friend and I to finish it, and we are the developers.
@chocolat-endive it works on Wine? nice, I'm really surprised, I berally excepted it to work on Windows
@cookienoir yup, raycasters are very simple and fun to make, especially with the great tutorial we found for the rendering part
@andrei009 No problem, let me know if you get more problems :)
Thanks @feiko :) we aimed for that feel
Hey @c0nt, good luck on your OpenGL learning journey :D
Yeah, you mentioned the main problems we have in this game, the controls aren't the best, they're pretty unintuitive and annoying for the first time. About that input lag after reloading, originally we did it when there was no reload animation and forgot to adjust it to the animation so there's now a weird lag after the animation is done.
About the start, we would love to add a tutorial level but we had about 20 minutes before the deadline when we were finished with the level design, so we stayed with the "Controls in the LD page" but the writing at the start was a pretty bad idea.
Thanks for the feedback :)
Thanks, @dumbdumb, making a game in OpenGL isn't as hard as it sounds :D
Thanks @hicko !
Thanks, @asfdfdfd, it isn't as hard as it sounds, no with the internet anyways... ;)
Hey @hadik, thanks for your honesty, we decided to focus on getting the theme into the gameplay itself, so it might not be the best fit. I'm glad you liked the art, clean and simple is the best we can do ;)
Thanks, @wakobu! About the engine, it's not really our main game engine, we developed it in 3.5 days before the jam (a long story), @ovid and I have our own more advanced engines, but they're not quite ready for making a real game so here we are.
Btw, what do you think we should balance?
@wakobu, you can actually move in the light circle when holding the gun. Low frame rate huh? We didn't encounter FPS lower than 30 when testing, even on other computers, I did get some major frame drops when I tested it yesterday. Guess that what's happens when you make a game engine in 3 days...
ohhhhhhh @wakobu, my bad, yeah we didn't want to make the weapon too OP but we might have slowed it down too much
Thanks, @kuro, the controls are so annoying at the beginning... and I made this game!
Hey @invixel, thanks for your feedback! Yeah, we have only 2 types of enemies, shooting and melee, in order to make the enemies more interesting and unexpected with no time to develop multiple AI's, we just randomized the sprites for the enemies so the would not be persistent.
The controls are a pain at the start, but you get used to it in the second run.
My friend made the enemy sprites and I still have nightmares ...
It's a nice and cute game :D
I would suggest improving the player's bullets though
The game was really weird and unexpected and I really liked it. The art styles are really nice and unique but the lack of sound takes off part of the experience (although it's probably because of a lack of development time). A solid game, good job!
btw, I liked the Minecraft easter egg ;)
This game was a blast to play, and you say you developed it in 15 hours?!
I really like the idea and how you implemented it (15 hours...), I got stuck at some point because I'm not smart enough but it was really fun.
I found a bug we jumping into the ceiling, you just get out of the level.
Great job! :D
I was hoping someone will make a game like this :D Swingin the sheriff around is just so satesfaing. The game lacks a goal a little bit but the score system is nice as well. The game is very polished.
Overall I had a really good time playing this game, good job! :)
Ok, if a game makes me taking pen and paper and writing down things I automatically like it a lot. I really like your game, it was a really nice logical puzzle that involved exploration (and the exploration kind of blown my mind)
I have some suggestions that you might want to consider: - The signs are a kind of a missed opportunity to place the text on the object itself - The vent thing is kind of glitchy (I accidentally dropped it through the ground one time) - The music is a little bit too repetitive
Keep it up! It's a really good game :D
This game has a really creepy feel and I like it. :)
I like the message of the game.
I had fun playing it, but my brain wasn't big enough in order to finish it :P
It's a really original idea and it's well-executed and polished, keep it up! :D
A really cute 2d platformer game, the concept has a really big potential for hard puzzles. My only suggestion is to make the looping-sound less annoying.
Keep it up, the game really has potential with some upgrades :)
ally like this game, there is something about flying in super high speed that makes everything better :) My suggestion to improve the game is making the camera a little bit higher and not directly behind the ship because it can get really nasuating when spinning around a planet
Nice job! :)
I really liked the cute graphics and the music too :) The concept is interesting, having to move back in order to jump higher was really cool.
The controls feel kind of slow and unresponsive, however.
This is a solid entry, keep it up! :D
A really nice and simple game and a solid entry. My only suggestion is to make a car turn like a normal car and don't just slide, it will make the game harder though.
I made it to 47 btw :)
Great job! :D
This is a really cute game with an interesting concept, although I couldn't finish it due to the stone strength, but it was really fun! The art style is really nice and I laughed again and again to the sound effects.
Keep it up!
I like the feeling of freedom to move in the 3D space in this game, the visuals are very easy and nice on the eye, a nice idea overall.
I really like your game, let me explain, it has a really cute art style and the goal and the game mechanics are really easy to learn. Here are my suggestions to improve this game: - Make the music less repetitive and loud, it gets pretty annoying - Make the player a little bit faster - More levels please! - More enemy types
It's a really good first Ludum Dare game (way better than mine anyway ;) )
Ok, this is a really original idea. Man... when was stealing so fun?
A really nice game to burn some time with. Great job! :D
TThe game concept is really interesting and well implemented, the art style and the music are awesome too. I couldn’t finish the game due to its difficulty but I really had fun!
Nice job! :D
Ok, this game is really well implemented and I like the idea. It took me a while to figure out the first puzzle but it was fun :)
You might wanna lower the explosion sound at the end of the level, it's a bit too loud.
Couldn't tell it was made during a Ludum Dare. great job! :)
This game looks really cute and fun, I did go through some levels and it was pretty challenging! :) As @seskon said, you should remap the keys to the normal QWERTY layout.
Nice job!
