Well polished game inspired, I guess, by Paper Mario and other plateformers/RPG that uses flat characters in a 3D world ! (I used this process in my game too  ) The characters design, animations, sound design and environment are nice, even if we feel that you lacked time to make it a complete game, but it was an ambitious project ! Congrats !

lazzydev72 2020-04-20 16:25

Nice Good Graphics nice Game play but there are two problems 1.The charector dose not exist on the 3D World. it looks like it is stick to the screen.

2.It is not accurate to the given theme.

But well done i enjoyed keep it up.

Loved the graphics and the 2.5D style on the characters. The sound design was super nice as well. If there was an objective, I didn't find it. I found the combat system was nice but the exit battle action didn't require confirmation. I think this area could be tightened up a bit.

Overall, a nice demo of things that are to come! Replacing the textures on the world items to match the aesthetic of the characters will help lots.

Good work!

attx 2020-04-21 01:42

Really liked the style of the game. I also couldn't find any objective other than getting into fights and not dying. It could be a nice start to a very unique and stylish game! I felt like you could just feel the story, even though one wasn't present.

caps-unlocked 2020-04-21 02:38

Fun game! I really like the design of the main character.

My critique would probably be to add a bit of a more intuitive control scheme.

I'd like to maybe see this game worked on further. I had fun with this and a full game would be cool.

markwolf 2020-04-21 07:00

With a bit more of time this could have been a really nice game. 2.5D graphics and mood are exquisite

turritom 2020-04-21 12:20

i like the mood and the graphics :).

ryannielson 2020-04-21 12:20

I really like the art style and the graphics. The mix of 2D character and 3D environment is great. It really reminds me of Paper Mario. It was a bit strange how the character was always in front of the 3D objects, but that's a minor issue considering the time limit. The turn-based combat system works well, but I would have loved to see more attack types and options while in combat.

Overall great looking game that I'd love to see expanded.

beavergames 2020-04-21 12:24

Great game! I think what you need to do is add a tutorial, or a more intuitive control scheme. I wanna see this game being worked on more. Just please, add a tutorial.

cyclonicheart51 2020-04-21 12:25

Really fun game, spent a bit playing it. The main character animations are pretty cute!

vivek-sharma20 2020-04-21 12:26

Yes i agree with comments above some basic how to play is required otherwise you can feel lost in a big world. Graphics and audio are cool.

theaidency 2020-04-21 12:26

Wonderful art style and mood, loved it! Glad you provided a WebGL version too. Battles did feel a little more annoying than enjoyable, but apart from that, great job!

haoro 2020-04-21 13:23

Really good game ! I loved the graphic and "world" music (the fighting one was a little disappointing after hearing the first one x) With some more gameplay mechanic it can become a really interesting game, good job !

chocolat-endive 2020-04-21 14:49

The game looks very nice on screenshot, but on my computer, I just have the character on a black background. The music is nice.

jk5000 2020-04-21 14:51

The graphics and the music(beside the terrible fighting music) is really good. The gameplay is okay, but it feels a bit basic. Overall is this a fun and pretty well made little jam game. Well done.

marxy-37 2020-04-21 14:55

I like the "2.5D/Paper" graphics style you chose for the game. Music and Mood are good too... It feels like a very polished game, almost level of triple A games... But Gameplay speaking there isn't much to do, and the small amount of enemys they don't feel balanced at all...

But don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but i felt like the scope of this game was way too ambitious for a 3 day game jam, even for a team... (Did you worked on a team? Otherwise you shold be proud of your accomplishment, man)

Anyway... Great job!!! Keep it up!!!

matfernandestt 2020-04-21 17:00

@chocolat-endive oooh.... that's bizarre! can you send me a screenshot of the occurred?

@marxy-37 yup, all by myself (I mean, the overworld song, the enemy detection sfx and the battle menu icons I downloaded on the internet after I realized could not made in time for the compo category)

synystercola 2020-04-21 17:34

OMG this reminds me so much of Paper Mario. I really like the concept (even if the battles are a little on the easy size) and this is super cool to get done in a jam. Well done!

chocolat-endive 2020-04-21 17:55

@matfernandestt Of course! Here it is:

empheon 2020-04-21 19:31

Love the art! I also like the music except in fights, which is quite stressful and frustrating due to the very short loop. I think this game would greatly benefit some story though, but you still did great, well done :)

sadsmile 2020-04-21 19:34

Very cute duck! The paper mario feeling was strong in this one! Sadly, the combat theme really turned me off :( But otherwise a cool entry

fidrik 2020-04-21 20:01

The magic spell felt quite OP, I love the art style though, wish I had done that with my game as I usually make 3d games. Like others said it reminded me of paper mario. well done!

magus77 2020-04-21 22:29

i love the flipping of direction <3 and the pokemon-style fights !

jackcaunter 2020-04-21 22:37

The animation is really really well done! The way everything flips and moves is really nice. Would have liked to have some progression in terms of the gameplay, but I understand that's hard to balance. I like the art and music! Good job :)

macdoom 2020-04-21 23:23

Mario RPG and paper mario going on here! Loved the 2.5D Nice work!

rjerez192 2020-04-22 00:57

I love the mix between 2D and 3D. Graphics are really great, I feel a little too much post processing. I didn't like the combat music and attack UI it feels unpolished against the rest of the game. Good job overall!

ukumeme 2020-04-22 02:08

I absolutely adore the paper cutout art style! Other people have mentioned that it looks like paper mario, so I'll probably get to playing that

prof-suarez 2020-04-22 13:51

Cool idea, would love to see it fleshed out more

ulisses 2020-04-22 14:48

Amazing art work! I love!

gelgavish 2020-04-22 18:07

It's a really fun and interesting game! The overworld music is absolutely amazing, the combat system is cool as well. Good game mate :)

stu 2020-04-22 19:45

Love the artstyle! Not a lot to the gameplay but you made a fun little thing in a weekend and that's a success in my book!

cronobreak 2020-04-23 06:54

Really fun, thanks for the good laugh :D

pleyad 2020-04-23 12:56

A really nice looking game! And the general music is an absolute banger  ! I felt the attack system to be more sophisticated than it should've been, I would have rather explored the beautiful world, because you make it look really appealing. The music during the attack scenes was quite brutal on the ears, another point that made me want to explore more. But nonetheless a cool and beautiful entry!

echonia 2020-04-23 13:01

Nice 2D visuals, nice blend with 3D. Really liked the arts and feel coming out of the game. I think it's weird that the character portrait/Health Bar goes from top to bottom of the screen depending if you're in overworld or battle. I belong to the design school of consistency so that's just maybe my point of view.

literal-games 2020-04-23 13:05

Nice, it would be great to see a fleshed out version with a story! I couldn't figure out how to beat the tomato gang enemy, seemed like they were too powerful! But maybe I'm missing something. I appreciated the fast forward option once I found it, and I could see how the battle system could be expanded. Great job!

khud0 2020-04-23 13:32

I like 3d games with 2d art and yours looks good!

doritolord 2020-04-23 21:21

I liked the sound design and the visuals. Didn't like the fact that there wasn't an objective. Also i don't think the potion thingy worked for me, but maybe that's my bad?

battlecat 2020-04-24 07:10

This was really cute. Had a Paper Mario feel to it. I didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing though. Here I am, on a beach with enemies I can fight. But why am I fighting them? What am I trying to accomplish?

Apart from that it had an impressive amount of polish, except for the battle music which got old really fast - but what are you gonna do in 72 hours?

trexxak 2020-04-24 09:01

The visuals work great together, well done!

junebug 2020-04-25 04:51

Love the visual style, it's obviously reminiscent of Paper Mario. I'm curious how the player is rendered, they get rendered over top of some of the obstacles in the overworld. Why not just place them in the 3D world? I liked the battle mechanics, although guarding seems to never be a bad decision. Do you plan to take this further, or will you be leaving it after the jam?

zzox 2020-04-25 19:47

Like the 2.5D look. Could use a little more polish and some of the sfx were a little jarring, but other than that great work.

oxters 2020-04-30 16:44

This is a really cute game. I like the control scheme, simple but powerful.

dimesto52 2020-05-07 02:18

nice graphics but strange control and it seems to me that the boss tomato is unbeatable

cheesepencil 2020-05-11 21:28

Why didn't you play and rate other peoples' games?
