I really liked the game, I am impressed with how developed this was especially for a jam time frame. Maybe adding snapping to the building could be the next step if you wanted to continue this project.

midblue 2022-04-05 02:23

This is a massive game considering the time you had! Very impressed, especially with the attention to detail — I tried to wall off my stand and the fact that you not only had already covered this case but that you had SFX for it too! Not bad, not bad at all :)

fredrik-rosell 2022-04-05 19:31

This is some impressive work! Great game!

0x746564 2022-04-06 00:10

Couldn't stop playing, had to try and find a way to stop them from eating all of my hotdogs! Thought I would build fences but they just kept knocking them down!

Very impressive for a jam game!

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-06 12:03

Yes @0x746564, its inevitable

Thanky you all for your feedback!

dobryn 2022-04-06 12:29

the game looked simple on first view but as I kept playing it, I have to say its quite impressive.

from a mechanism perspective you have put a lot in considering the time frame of the game jam.

tetrapteryx 2022-04-06 12:48

This is both a hilarious concept and some seriously impressive work for a jam game! I really like that you can switch between queuing up buildings and just watching the chaos ensue.

etrealjunior 2022-04-06 14:18

Congratulations for the very intuitive game, I love these resource management games, I'm amazed at how you build this in such a short time, balancing in this type of game is usually very chaotic for me a really great entry, I believe you can work more on your project in the future, because It's very cool, if you can give your feedback in my game I'll also be very happy a big hug.

sagiii 2022-04-06 16:36

Hello! The concept is funny. With more effects and a work on the game feel it can be even better.

black-flag 2022-04-06 16:39

The amount of systems in this game is very impressive, especially in a game jam! Each one also felt quite polished and complete. The shop system worked very well and I like the fact there are two layers to any object, the time it takes to make and the cost of it, I feel like it could lead to some very strategical gameplay! The sound effects were nice too but I felt like there could have been some music in the background, and maybe some more coherence between the weapons and the actual surrounding eg cannons and walls but defending a grandson, I suppose that juxta position is what made me rate it very highly in humour! Overall, I really enjoyed playing and the game feels very feature complete! Great game!

mopifish 2022-04-06 17:47

Super good concept, it seems all the systems are in place, but it just lacks some balancing. The build times felt insanely long. I always wanted to build elaborate setups, but it took so long that I ended up dying immediately :( I recognize I probably should've used more spikes as opposed to setting up a money making compound turn one though, haha

great entry :)

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-06 17:55

@mopifish the time it takes to build stuff can be "shortened" by parallelizing. You can buy additional drones. For that - of course - you need money which comes from "decimating guests" and using the advertisement flags. But yes, such games often are hard to balance in that short time especially if there are not much testers.

I found that ALL streamers I watches playing this game tried to but spikes and fences somewhere else than waht I thought is the most logical spot (near the sapwn) so maybe a tutorial would have helped, too :D This said, minds are different! As developer you always got a specific view on things and that leads to missing possible culprits like that

Thanks for the feedback!

mopifish 2022-04-06 18:01

@mopifish OH!! THATS what the drones are! I thought they were like gunner drones haha

adangtran 2022-04-06 18:37

Cool concept. Always interesting to have to consider tradeoffs. For me, it would've helped if I could have some information on what the items did and/or their stats to make better decisions and choices. If it was on there, then it was a bit unintuitive on where to look for the info.

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-06 18:52

@adangtran in fact I totally forgot to add this. Initially I wanted to create a "factsheet" which you can open in build mode.

2022-04-06 21:18

Nice reinvention of the towerdefense. The story about Kurisou and his/her BBQ is very cute. The balance between the costs and items is good and the information about the refund is very helpful. Only thing I missed is a description of the items - e. g. the beartrap.

Very good work!

wegpast 2022-04-06 22:15

I had a really fun ride here ! It's at first a bit hard to understand where to put obstacles and traps, but when you understand that the best way is to begin by enclosing your hot dog cute dragon then building a looong way with spikes to it, you can make a pretty decent score :p I wish I could zoom and/or pan the camera. And I couldn't find a way to go from building a thing to recycling without going in and out of the building mode... Thanks for this cool game, I liked it ! Sans titre&.png qsdqd.png

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-06 23:14

@wegpast interesting idea! This definitely looks better than my approaches - starting at the spawn :D

Yes, the camera movement is a feature that has been requested several times now. And yes, we wanted to add a "recycle" button but I forgot it in the final crunch

phillip-scott 2022-04-07 20:38

I had fun with this one! The audio was a little.... odd but liked the concept and good execution!

raphiell 2022-04-07 23:52

Cool tower defense game, I thought the concept was cute. I struggled to actually defend the hot dogs but had fun! Some music would have been nice.

bangkerpow 2022-04-08 00:49

There's a great framework here that a little polish could make shine but a solid game overall.

alex-stewart 2022-04-08 01:34

This game really hits the nail (or I guess the spike in this case) on the theme! Really fun mechanics in play here. The only issue is the build times being too long. It makes it hard to build a good way to counter the incoming party guests. Overall, it was a fun game!

conradoclark 2022-04-08 02:10

Cool game! Kept trying to see if I could get far, and well, I think I got an incredible tactic nailed down by now haha:

hotdog.png

Seems a pretty simple and minimalistic strategy  I only used wooden fences and catapults for defense, and I had to try and position them in a "clever" way to stack as many people as I could near the catapults and wreck them all together.

Then I just started stashing money because even the wooden fences wouldn't get destroyed seeing as everyone was just dying so fast.

Good job on this entry! I've played a lot!

conradoclark 2022-04-08 02:12

I guess I'll try leaving the notebook on just to see how far I can get with this build  I'll let you know what happens

conradoclark 2022-04-08 02:37

Oh, sooner than I thought (pretty good results, though haha):

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-08 15:27

Thanks again for all your feedback!

@conradoclark nice one! I love seeing uncommon ideas like yours coming up! We always had only the usual "lane building" in mind but really cool approach!

(At least in theory) it is actually inevitable that at some points guests will come through and eat all the hotdogs. The game has 14 waves, and after tha last wave it starts over at wave 6 but with increasing "guest stats" (damage, health and speed) so at some point the guests will be incredibly fast and/or onehit all the buildings while not taking any noticeable damage from even the catapults :D

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-08 15:28

I wonder which strategy works out better in the "late game" - yours or the classic lane building approach... @conradoclark

This is a super huge game idea! But I like that it's well done and polished, however I had issues with the game loading initially. I had to actually refresh 3 times to get the game to load, and the Im Scared of Dragons button never actually worked xD

However once I got into the game, the build mode vs not build mode is really cool and I loved watching the things being built. It was a bit hard to see but overall it was really fun!

Nice job!

firesplash-entertainment 2022-04-10 12:05

@sarah I think you were playing WebGL. The "I am scared of dragons" button is actually the quit button which is not working in WebGL :D In WebGL that button does only freeze the game (No idea what unity thought by doing that, in earlier versions Application.Quit() simply did nothing in WebGL)

zimny11 2022-04-10 12:37

Awesome art style! "Advert flags, earn money" nice one :) Only thing missing is some fitting music. Nice done game. I had fun trying it out.

flyingkaida 2022-04-10 13:14

DRAGON!!! A friend of mine suggested I try this one to for dragon reasons and I'm SO glad I she did! I love it! It's so hard or maybe I'm just horrible with defenses lol. Trying to build walls around the house to funnel them early into spikes and advertisements. And JUST as I get it all set up, BAM wall down. Ugh, silly humes, I just want to tell you about these great hotdogs, not SELL you them. fff whatev lol. Great game, I've enjoyed it a lot. Now excuse me, I'm going to play it some more.

And yeah, I've found that the quitting buttons on html5 does just crash the game without actually closing it. I did the same. I don't know if there is a way around this if you want it both html5 and app. Love rts', love kingdom management and all. so fun!

sarah 2022-04-10 15:48

@firesplash-entertainment yes I was on webgl!! And I was wondering what the button did the entire time haha, makes sense that it closes the game since it's red! However, I actually had recommended your game to @flyingkaida and then it got pointed out that the button just closed the game and I giggled a bit xD

saintchristopher777 2022-04-15 00:17

Wow, impressive jam game! Definitely a lot of work put into it. Great concept, fun gameplay, and hilarious idea too. Great work!

sarah-alexa 2022-04-15 19:03

A little difficult to get going in but I found it hard to put down. The free form tower defence gameplay was very fun. Managing resources, drones and taking out customers to preserve your stock is very fun! A little difficulty balancing if you keep working on it would be great and maybe highlighting the hot dog stand and enemy spawns as they weren't immediately clear to me but otherwise, great job and I'll probably be back for more! Great jam game!
