Wow multiple games for the price of one! I like that one of the buttons is broken too. Really cool idea with the screen failing.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Screen of Death

I really enjoyed the minigames and I loved the art style for the concept
This is such a cool idea. Also, it makes me really sad, to see an old device like that slowly die. But it is pretty funny to be playing snake and just not being able to see what the heck is going on anymore. Really great work!
really cool idea! sadly, windows-only means unplayable. :(
5/5 across the board for me on this one. Great idea, awesome execution. Especially impressive for a game jam!
@subvertissement Yeah, we were hoping to get other versions out there (and, who knows, maybe we still will), but it only works in Windows for now. Couldn't test out a Linux build at the time and it was having some weird slowdown issues when we tried to build for Mac.
Best Game Jam Game I've ever played. As someone who collects retro games, I can appreciate the attention to detail with the broken lines that Gameboys get. 5/5
Incredibly unique implementation of the theme! Really cool :D
I LOVED the art style it was SO pretty, easy 5 star in graphics!! The mood as well was superb, and I loved your take on the theme. It was very nicely wrapped package, but I was a little disappointed by the minigames. They were super minimalistic and not very fun, I would've loved if they played more into the dying screen part of the game.
Really solid entry though, absolutely beautiful too
Well done, thou I enjoyed the snake the most. Audio is cool, thematic. For a second there I forgot what the theme was and kept waiting for some secret level or game appearing once the screen turned bad enough :D
5/5 for on nearly all counts for me, excellent entry! Love the concept of an old busted gameboy being central to the theme of your game.
game collection! they all nice games. I really admire authors who can make a lot of games in a short period of time.
The game ambiance is superb ! Graphism are beautiful, sounds are great and the whole concept is really smart and reminds me of the Pico 8 "corupt mode". However, the lack of real ending makes it feel a little... pointless ? Like I could just play Hedgehog 2 for hours without seeing anything and get an infinite number of point.
the game is gorgeous and I loved the idea of the screen deteriorating, but i must admit that it becomes a bit hard (in the bad way) to play the game, but i think that the concept is genius and if used well could do a great full game.
I like the idea of an old gameboy sort of a think, the art style is super cool like the music, 8-bit my favorite! Overall GJ!
all this work in one jam ! realy awesome !
Funny and unique! The old school vibe is amazing, and mini games are well-chosen given the little problem we progressively meet. The only aspect I would criticize is the theme, as I don't have the feeling to "delay" the inevitable. Apart from that, it's all good!
Really invent approach! I liked the retro style and SFXs. Everything works nicely, but there is a bug with lines on screen which don't disappear when you launch another title. All of all, good idea!
@wild-fat This may the only time in my life I get to say this without winking afterwards, but “that’s not a bug, that’s a feature.”
The inevitable deterioration of the device is primarily told through two visuals: single dead pixels (a failing LCD screen) and glitchy vertical lines (dirty/corroded cartridge contacts). Though I understand there’s a certain flashy item in one of the games that might repair one of those a little bit…?
Very well answered main theme. I like the retro GBC-like look of the device. Nice hints to the games of that era. Impressive you managed to fit everything in 72 hours. What would have been funny in my humble opinion is if you slotted in `Credits` cartridge, the screen would magically get fixed - that way allowing everyone to see real names in the credits :)
It's a somewhat sad experience as the quickly fleeting joy of a personal / handheld entertainment system decays into unusability. I enjoy the environment, it brings back childhood memories of playing game boy in bed with a flashlight - though fortunately I got on with the gbc and haven't experienced these lcd defects! This is the first game I've gotten a chance to review of the jam, and I have to say, it's going to be really friggin tough to follow.
