Good game bro

jyumonji 2022-04-04 02:34

Nice game! I love this visual style. But sometimes I can't see the words, is that a bug? XD

mikoziq 2022-04-04 21:10

@nicorm @jyumonji Thanks! I'll check your games right away :)

Update: I have found indeed, that spawning packages a bit too close to each other will cause this bug. I've tweaked it (they spawn within 5 meters from each other and not 4) and re-uploaded, cause it's breaking the actual gameplay.

frib 2022-04-04 22:06

TIL I am unable to quickly type "federated states of micronesia" correctly

ambrits 2022-04-04 22:12

Nice and simple typing game. A had a few issues though: - Since the words disappear as soon as I start writing, this becomes a memory game which I didn't really like. - The long wait at the start was confusing. - The description said to press enter but I didn'T have to that to score points:)

eli-haun 2022-04-04 22:20

Overall, It isn't a bad idea. I feel that you could slow down the packages, or keep the text on the screen (I can not spell these words from memory), also, sound would be good. But overall, I think you have a good base for something!

mikoziq 2022-04-04 22:25

@frib Trust me, there are worse nations that this one here :joy:

@ambrits Thanks for feedback! Indeed, you don't need to Enter the input. I am not able to change the description of the game ATM though, so I have to wait until JAM is done I believe to be able to modifiy the controlss subsection

When it comes to waiting, it was supposed to be a processing part where package is getting ready, but it got confusing yes. Thanks again!

@eli-haun Thanks for playing! Well, for a total of 15-20 hours spent from 48 hours available, I had to pick my poison. It's essentially a Minimum Viable Product, which I would personally expand toward Isometric space instead (like some of my previous entries). I wanted to try something new though :)

benbennett 2022-04-04 23:14

I liked the concept. It's like a typing, spelling, and memory game all wrapped into one. I did run into a bug where packages wouldn't start coming if I started after previously finishing a game. Had to refresh the page to play again. Overall great job!

foxwater 2022-04-04 23:50

Really liked the atmosphere created with the lighting and the art. I've not played a typing game that forces you to remember the spelling and I think that was a fun addition, very well done!

mlkvr 2022-04-05 16:05

Excuse me but French Southern What? hahaha oh I googled it French Southern and Antarctic Lands wow! A great one day compo game that simple, fun, in line with the theme. Also it was good exercise to remember typing country names especially for a casual map enjoyer like me even tho I made mistakes caused by ı i I İ differences in my keyboard. Great one once again congrats!

briibot 2022-04-05 22:08

Such a pretty game! I really enjoyed all the aesthetics of it! I didn't realize at first that the word to type would be displayed in the checker because I was typing nonsense into the bar while waiting for packages lmao but! I figured it out fast and it was an easy and intuitive game after that! The art was enjoyable and polished.

mwillsey 2022-04-06 03:49

Very nice pixel art!

owca 2022-04-06 14:58

Nice artstyle and pacing (time between boxes).

But seriously? label.png

mopifish 2022-04-06 18:00

Good game! I Liked the idea, and the art was cute and simple. Felt cozy and roomy. Feedback: There was a bit of a wait between packages, which really slowed down the gameplay. As well, the big packages you couldn't really see the full name making it pretty unfair.

Overall good entry though :)

harmadillo 2022-04-06 21:25

Found some runs suprisingly hard. Possibly just that typing place names is unfamiliar. Simple and effective game. Liked the art.

danashrulez 2022-04-07 12:22

Hey, very cute artstyle!

I tried playing the game in the WEBGL version from itch. But sadly, I couldn't get the game properly working on Firefox. Even after typing in the correct work, it was counted as a miss.

Another thing was, once the game ended, I tried clicking on going back to main menu and starting the game again, but it was not spawning any packages upon retrying and I had to refresh the screen everytime after loosing! I am not sure if its firefox issue or something else.........

UPDATE: TRIED WITH CHROME AND IT WORKED AS INTENDED, all the problems mentioned above was no longer present!

Fun game! I love the cute cute pixel art! And like a couple of other people mentioned, I do agree the starting wait time feels a bit long as you are almost sitting for 10 seconds without having anything to do initially, but once the boxes start coming in, it is absolutely fun!

jzucc12 2022-04-07 12:46

Fun typing game for sure. The time to type is just short enough along with the text disappearing when you start to add some good tension. Two main notes. First is that some of the names are way too long. Second is that it took awhile for the first box to come through and I thought it was a bug. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Good work!

rickylee 2022-04-07 15:03

Wish there was sound! looks great, and solid gameplay, so smooth and well made! I like the ambition of getting over 1000 score :') I didn't notice any ramp up in difficulty? Great submission!

dock-frankenstein 2022-04-09 13:30

Great entry. I got confused at the start because I was typing the labels properly, but the game didn't count them. Turns out if you hold down shift or have caps lock enabled it won't recognize the labels. A simple `if (input.ToLower() == expected.ToLower())` should fix it.

Also this happened: Screenshot 2022-04-09 152105.png

Except these issues, it was quite an enjoyable experience (except when I got the 163 character long labels). Good job

diego-escalante 2022-04-09 20:43

I think it was a nice experience. The packages coming in from the top was a nice sneak peek into possible difficult countries; that was a really nice detail. I think the game felt a tad slow. You had to wait a long while between each package. Maybe this could be a way to increase difficulty as you go: keep the same time limit to tag each package but decrease the time between each package so that the player has to keep constantly typing.

Nice game! I bet it would feel very complete with a few sounds and some background music! Well done

mar3k 2022-04-12 18:11

Great idea, but still feels like it needs some polishing, also it was very difficult for me since I'm not so great at typing. But overall nice entry, well done.

sulo 2022-04-14 12:44

Nice little entry, the graphics are quite cute. I wish there would be a bit more of a difficulty curve. Maybe there could be some names with unclear typing or some smeared address. Anyway nice idea!

angiemon 2022-04-16 16:19

Cool Game! :D Finally something providing me with much needed vindication from my humiliation in the Windwaker post office ^^

In honour of this LudumDare I played until the shown number ;)

spellinggameboxes.jpg

Was a cute, fun game. Spelling games aren't new to me since I participate in LudumDares but this one was especially nice executed, just felt really nice enetring those countries :)

(I also liked that it's actual words and not gibberish ^^)

Seeing the parcels in the upper row first gave it a nice touch! The minecraftian graphics looked good and give it a clear image, colours were also nice :)

This could be a great typing/geography learning game for schools ;D

I have to say the super long tags... good idea, but simply impossible for me! I understand that you can see it as soon as it enters the labeling area as I'm gonna call it and then you have time until the parcel leaves that area, for the long words this sadly is simply too short I think, maybe there should be a scanning area (in the upper row, perhaps?) where you can already see the label?

Also, I was a bit torn about not seeing the labels as soon as you type - because although I wanted to see them it also was a nice gameplay mechanic that you have to remember - so maybe players can toggle it and get a bit less points or after a certain time it gets toggled?

Would also workd great as a learning game to like show the flags and you have to type the name of the country :D (RIP me, if you ever do that haha, I suck in geography! ^^ but gamification of things, especially learning is in the rise, so who knows? :))

A very cool entry, especially for one person, maybe you can add a bit sounds like a cute 8bit music and player feedback sounds :) Good Job!

guilloteam 2022-04-20 10:40

That's a pretty simple game, but it works pretty well. The first big box had an ridiculously long text, which I found really funny, but I did not get anything longer that Afghanistan afterwards. Is that a very rare event ?

I found the very beginning of the game a bit strange, because it takes at least ten seconds before you have anything to do, I tried to click on things and type stuff, but nothing responded. It was not a big deal, but making long intros without interactivity nor explanation is a bit disorientating.

The concept is pretty cool, it could be expanded into a full postal center, where you must label packages and send them to the right destination. Cool stuff !

solanumteam 2022-04-20 10:43

I really like the concept and I had fun playing it, since I like typing games! I'd suggest to not let the words disappear after you start typing, because it becomes a memory game (it's okay, but not with such big names) and to slow down the packages a little, at least on the big boxes. It's basically impossible to type that fast xD Besides that, great game! Keep it up ^^

criobite 2022-04-21 03:44

Hey, not bad! It's a unique take on a typing game, and I think you executed the idea pretty well. The visuals do the job quite nicely. Some of the country names are hilariously long!

But yeah, solid entry!
