The sounds effects are prime. :D Fun runner game, okay overall.
Took a while to realize that you have to hold down "s" or "down" to keep on sliding. I like how silly the audio is. Good work!
Solid runner game! Good work on the sound effects, I kept smiling the entire time playing the game, because they are so silly.
I love the sound effects, they are hilarious, I enjoyed playing with this!
It would be fun to print the next Morse character that you need to catch and you'd have to avoid the other one. :)
Whoops, sent review on the wrong page. Also, thanks to everyone for your kind words!
The player movement felt very intuitive and nice. I'd reccomend using another font, because it was pretty hard for me to read. Other than that great Entry
@buni Thanks! It was a problem to even execute html-version in ldjam page. That's a resolution problem (outline really is a mess), it looks pretty nice at [itch.io-version](https://surweaver.itch.io/morse-deliverer)
Interesting take! The fact that you can generate a level with just a string is really neat!
Really like the sound effects. Drags a bit on as the words get longer, but for a good challenge it is really fun! Keep it up!
Interesting! Good smooth graphics. The sounds are hilarious. The levels get really challenging. This is a random suggestion but it might be neat if the dots and dashes made noticeably different "dot" and "dash" eating sounds to highlight the dot/dash difference whiel you were eating them not just when you are regurgitating at the end. But that's just a stylistic suggestion!
@candlesan thanks for your comment! That would be a neat detail! I made those spellings after eat sounds so I didn't think about it in that way at all. That's a good suggestion!
I gotta admit, the controls felt really good ! Loved the animations ! The gameplay felt a bit repetitive, there being only two actions made obstacles feel a bit samey. I actually think simply speeding up as the game goes one would've helped because you would need to react faster and sooner so you can't just get in a rhythm.
Have to have a 42 somewhere in there haha! The ending screen was a bit confusing, whether I died or reached the end it always said I gather everything. I assume it's not relative to the total amount of symbols but rather the one that passed ? But since most obstacles have only one way of being passed it seemed a bit weird to me.
Another small thing that could help with long levels is a distance/progress score. Numbers going up are satisfying :P
I'm not sure if the level dubbed "Try this..." has an end or if it's endless, I got to 24 words and 235 symbols and eventually made a mistake, as I wasn't paying too much attention anymore.
Seeing the sliding animation kept me going haha
Oh also quick side note : the itch.io page doesn't link back to the submission, you did add the ludum-dare-53 tag but if you look in the "Edit game" page that will have added a field for you to put the link to this page ! ;)
pretty cool little game! I love the approach to teaching more about Morse code.
When I would collide with red signs, the stats would say 4/4 words 22/22 syllables or whatever, probably based on what I have ran so far, but maybe should be out of the whole level?
agree with above, the sliding animation is top notch haha the mood is on point
Thanks for the feedback, @patatenouille! I completed the statistics of the latest in turn and did not write very well, I know about it, I should have included the total number of characters. It displays your collected number of characters and the number that would have been if you had not missed some of the characters. All levels are finite, I made a too long message, I didn’t manage to pass that level myself. It takes concentration for too long a period of time, that's for sure. Thanks for the tip about the url field on the itch page!
I thought about speeding up the run, but I wanted to be in time with all needed sounds and other things in Compo :D I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks for playing, @whywhy! Agreed, the total number of words and characters should have been included. At the end of the jam, it was already squeezed out and somehow didn’t think about adding this :D It was worth adding more intermediate elements so that the player knew more data during the passage, and not just on the final screen. On the other hand, it's a runner, so it's quite dangerous to add some more distracting interface that can make you concentrate on the game process and make you lose or skip characters. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, it was helpful!
The game has a simple concept as far as endless runners go but I think it works well! I wish it had a little more variety and that the levels were shorter and faster. But you can tell a lot of detail went into the game. From the little particles as you take a step to the voice acting. Great job! Congrats on your first LD game!
Very funny sound effect and I like it  But the game feels a little bit repetitive though. Maybe adding a few challenges would make it more interesting. For example, you can help others, who don't know Morse code (like me), learn it: give a simple sentence and make us to collect the correct syllables. Anw, great effort on your game! Always appreciate handcraft stuffs.
Great game!
I would have liked another statistics about the correct number of alphabetic characters additionally to the number of words and morse code symbols. Also, instead of having "?" mark the wrong characters I would have preferred the character which we actually collected.
Nonetheless, the game was fun to play and the sound effects and graphics were really enjoyable and light-hearted.
I love the presentation! The character is both cool and funny at the same time, and the sounds are very entertaining. Running, sliding and jumping felt very nice and kept me playing. I liked being able to create my own levels too, that's a very nice feature!
A level generator is a really cool idea for a Jam! I wish there was some third ability like an attack with breakable blocks or something to add more complexity to the game itself. All in all, morse code was a really cool idea, good job!
Fun lil runner, I do like the idea of collecting the morse code snippets as you go, the resolution is a lil small due to the play window on LD, could do with a bit o'music. Feel bad for the poor guy's thighs with all the sliding going down, good fun, good work, cheers!
Combining morse code and infinite runner is a great idea, and the basic game mechanic is well implemented. I really like the level creation tool.
