NAMU by ekun 2021-10-10T03:40:50Z

This was great. It's the kind of game I need to play at lunch after a stressful meeting. And just listening to the music and watching the leaves sway in the breeze and the trunk hover back and forth, it's easy to zone out and relax, which is one of the best parts about chill games like this.

It will Fall by jeremyfa 2021-10-16T18:20:04Z

When I started playing this, I hadn't seen any of the screen shots, and when the platform started tipping, I was like WOAH, so that's what this game is! I love the feeling of dread when it's tipping despite throwing all your pieces at the other side! I think the shapes of the pieces is clever, so they all fit in the platform or each other (until it turns into a giant heap). Would be cool to have a next-up feature to show upcoming shapes.

Upheaval by bentglasstube 2021-10-10T02:11:43Z

This was the most engaging game I've played so far. It was very cool how each section needed to be illuminated to be discovered, and that the walls moved (took me way too long to realize that...) but I was able to beat it in about a half hour. Having the music change as you got closer to the amulet was such a rewarding mechanic and is what made me keep searching for so long.

A Crumbly Planet by kumber 2021-10-16T17:48:49Z

Really nice! I love that the mechanics are discoverable by trial an error, that there was a fake ending in the middle, and the hilarious sound effects! (I have to admit I didn't save the bear, poor thing.) Nice game!

Hang in There Until Meetings Are Over by junjunlowpoly 2021-10-12T05:02:27Z

Soo close! I was 5 away from being hired by the squirrels, but the cats got me... Thanks for making this. It was unique and insightful. And personally, it reminded me that the effort I spend trying to please people at work has just as much an effect on me as it does them, if not more. Sometimes I have to remind myself to be authentic.

The artwork is fun and adorable. And I liked the funny conversations and responses. Thanks for sharing this game!

Tribulation by Adrenallen 2021-10-12T05:18:30Z

I like the iso perspective and the creepy decoratives. The music was WAY creepy, making me feel like I was going insane, and the gray around the screen edges was a great idea. I also really like that this uses the mouse and arrow keys, since most games I've played here use one or the other. Nice game!

Jenry Javelina by PBG 2021-10-16T18:09:56Z

The fact that I was laughing out loud before even starting is a great sign! I love the theme, colors, and that you had real music in it. One thing that would be fun to try is to make Jenry (and the camera) follow the mouse cursor, so that it would be more fluid and they keyboard could be just for jump and run. And a powerup to make him fly for a bit, since who doesn't love flying pigs, well javelinas...

LD49: Homeward by LMB 2021-10-10T02:23:24Z

I really enjoyed this! I like how the choices affected your delta, not your amount, so they could have long term consequences if you make a bad choice early on. Very cool!

Sir BaLancelot by FabDynamic 2021-10-16T17:29:46Z

Fun game! My favorite part is that the story was part of each level. And I love the music. Reminds me of Monty Python.

Reliance (Working Title: ~Generating Cosmic Forces by Eric Schmiel 2021-10-10T02:34:10Z

I liked that you got the game mechanics implemented and a neat concept for a text based game. I think if you had more time to add different responses, or made it more clear how the score worked, it would get real playable real fast. Hopefully we can see a finished version after this!

Stack Up by Barney25052 2021-10-10T03:30:48Z

This was great, my favorite parts were the grow and delete orbs. Reminded me of ant man a bit, how the character has to scramble over giant furniture and vehicles. Nice work!

Bomb Mania by Stefan Jovanovic 2021-10-10T03:22:52Z

I was really impressed with the graphics, as were a lot of folks! Beautiful, great color choice, nice animations, including the dust behind the character when it moved. And I loved the flag at the end of each level. Nice work!

Haywire by ScalphaMission 2021-10-16T19:41:40Z

This is so cool! I'm a huge Factorio fan, and I love some of the unique elements of your game, like the "output" blocks around the edges, the fact that you can feed outputs of one assembler into another, and how the assemblers keep running even if there's not something to take the inputs quite yet. It did take me a few tries before I decided to build everything net new, rather than repurpose the starting factory (otherwise I died before I could finish the new factory.

I am currently at wave 30, and it's hard to tell if the enemy is getting more advanced. Maybe an easier enemy in the beginning and a harder one at the end?

Really enjoyed this game and how easy it was to get the hang of. Nice job!

The Walls Are Tumbling Down! by zubspace 2021-10-12T02:04:25Z

I was really impressed with this! The sounds and animations were great. The procedural map with walls that could be shot were really nice ideas. And the store to spend and earn coins was icing on the cake. Awesome game! (I honestly liked this more than BOI by the way...)

Home Renos Inc. by Pincushion 2021-10-05T06:27:54Z

Really like this game, it took a bit to figure our what could be placed where, but I think I got the hang of it. Was really cool how you adapted a well-known block stacking concept to use a brand new theme and set of mechanics. Love the "Nope nope nope" :D

Wizards Quest by Lakea 2021-10-12T02:40:07Z

Wonderful game. It reminded me a lot of my favorite turn-based card games. As soon as I entered a room I was thinking, "Now, who am I attacking first and how much health can I spare?" Well done!

Libra City by djee 2021-10-16T17:16:57Z

This was a neat game, and I like how you made the theme about huts in a village. I wonder if there's a way to make random-generated levels, though maybe not all of them would be solvable? Love the music too!

Everything's Fine by Patsui 2021-10-10T03:10:09Z

Really nice work, especially the detailed animations (like swimming in the reactor). There were some things that I couldn't tell how they worked, like whether turning off power helped cool the reactor. Or if I needed to do anything for the players to recharge in the lounge. But it was fun to play, and the alarms definitely fit the theme :)

Helico Pter by 3LSTMsInATrenchcoat 2021-10-12T04:36:55Z

This is for sure the most addicting game I've played this competition. Well done! The comments make it clear there's lots of levels I'm not good enough to get to, but I had a blast on the few that I could beat. Well done! I love the artwork, especially the little pixel trees and grass. And the color scheme is great too.

EDIT after seeing the note about "I" for invincibility I got to see the whole game. Love it! This has been my favorite game so far.

Unstababel by ubershmekel 2021-10-16T18:37:10Z

I like that you could choose to build a lot of small towers to earn money, or one big one. And I like that you have to earn money to get the blocks that are good for tall towers. Makes for a nice progression. Nice job!

Explorer, Beware! by Tiago Cruz 2021-10-12T06:01:13Z

OMG when I found out you can jump... :face_palm: Love the game. And the main character and animations was adorable. Thanks for sharing!

Critical Mass by Parker Nalch 2021-10-16T19:01:44Z

This was awesome, I love when going into overdrive and it pushes the debris away. My favorite concept was not having too much fuel, in addition to too little. And great graphics and music too!

Rise of the Emoji by LaurenceOgden 2021-10-12T05:54:12Z

:eye:  :video_game:

Dr. Frank by enricomandelli 2021-10-12T05:25:58Z

Wow, that tv shader with with low fi audio is awesome! The game is fun, and the graphic really match the style too. Nice work!

A Gift in Good Faith by python-b5 2021-10-05T06:16:30Z

Really like how the font and music and theme all tied together well. Monster was a little too fast for me, but was fun to get a few gems. Really like that dying only sent you back to the most recent castle, not the beginning.

A Gift in Good Faith by python-b5 2021-10-10T01:06:42Z

Just a thought, I’ve seen gifs in your other posts, and the Minotaur looks slower than when I played it. I think a lot of people felt it was too fast to escape. Is it possible that the Minotaur speed is somehow tied to frame rate, so on some machines it runs a lot faster if it’s playing at say 120 FPS? Idk just a thought, since it would explain why some people found it very difficult. For me, I was only able to get a couple of the gems.

Jam Fall by StaticBits 2021-10-10T02:52:35Z

Great game! I love the idea of actual jam being part of the game. And the main menu and persistent high scores were impressive to have for a compo game.

Domino Traverse by Huntrt 2021-10-16T20:01:12Z

This is a really interesting game mechanic! I did find the controls hard to get used to, and maybe arrow keys for the different effects might have been better, but once I got the hang of it, it was really fun. Nice job!

Bridge is Out by sslees 2021-10-10T03:05:12Z

Thanks everyone for playing! I wish I could have implemented a limited number of blocks in time, or even better, a way to gain money each level and use that to spend on materials. I had so much fun working on the tank tread physics that I think I enjoy the "climb the junk heap" approach more than designing a better bridge.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Great Filter by T C 2022-04-05T01:50:30Z

This is the first game I rated so far, and we're off to a great start! The two things I noticed right away were the great background music that wasn't too repetitive, and the impressive animations (my favorite was the spinning globe). After I started playing, it dawned on me how impressive it is to write an AI to play against for a gamejam game! Also love the Futurama reference; and how the title, promo dialog on the ldjam page, and the theme all tie together nicely. Nice job combining a turn-based game with an "inevitableness" aspect of the black hole.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Impending Doom of a Thousand Kitties by RalfZ 2022-10-04T04:28:50Z

Man I can barely type after that! So much clicking, and I could've sworn there's more than 33 cats, but that was my score. What was the other thing in the sidebar besides the food bowl? Love the game. And the colors/art reminded me of Good Pizza Great Pizza.

HAZCAT - Toxic Feline by johnnysix 2022-10-07T00:16:49Z

Such a cool game, with a lot of love put into the music/animations/slime. I REALLY like that the cat auto jumps as soon as it lands, never seen that before. Would try to play to the end but the screen shake and music restarting every death was driving me bananas! :D Really nice job.

Destroy Blocks by mdotedot 2022-10-04T04:14:19Z

This was great! It took me a few tries to get the hang of things, but I finally got it. I like that rows of 10 score, but columns don't, and that made me organize the blocks a certain way. And I love that there's more than one music track! Or at least it sounded like it switched things up after a while. Nice game!

Raiding By Myself by wildmusketeer 2022-10-04T04:05:39Z

Really nice! I love that the artwork is a combination of pixel art mixed with 3D. The game was fun, and it was great to try and figure out what steps I'd have to do/record in order to get through the levels. I also love the thunder noise in the background, added to the spooky dungeon theme!

Curse Of Infinity by Sky 2022-10-06T23:36:23Z

+1 to all the great things people are saying about this game! I saw you post a progress update during the compo and am so happy I came across this and got to play the end result. Props for such a complete/well-rounded submission. Having a playable 3D game with great art, music, scoring, menus, controller support... I'm really impressed!

EPOCH by Wouter52 2022-10-06T23:50:55Z

This game made me smile! Reminded me of the games that came on more than one floppy disk... Really impressive graphics, very creative entry. I also really enjoyed navigating with a mouse, even though I completely expected a console game to use arrow keys. Guess that'd the y2k38 bit!

Hovering Bird by Xpycm 2022-10-04T03:21:39Z

This was really awesome, with a lot more strategy than I expected. At first I was just always moving towards the closest card, but then I found it better to try and set up lots of cards for the next turn. I ended up getting 13 on one. Made me smile to think of playing Flappy Bird in real life. Well done!

$EasyMoney by sslees 2022-10-04T19:28:28Z

@glove and @bobo-oh, thanks for playing! I totally agree, I think the game would be more fun if you could control the timing of things. I was inspired by Brash Bandicoot 4, especially for the double jump and gravity flip. It would be fun to make another version of this where the player could activate events/powers too!

$EasyMoney by sslees 2022-10-04T21:09:17Z

Based on some great feedback, level 2 was too frustrating... Good news, I've moved it to the end and made the "impossible" jump a bit easier too.

@kory and @tharky, now you can try the other three levels if you want (they're lots more fun!)

$EasyMoney by sslees 2022-10-07T14:31:51Z

@testsubject06 totally fair! I actually have the coins and the ground in the same tilemap, which I thought would be clever until it wasn’t… I think if I could do it over, I’d either use an overlapping tilemap with different collision bits, or just instantiate sprites at those coordinates when the level starts. Curious what others would recommend for this.

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-04T04:18:21Z

Wow, there's no way I'll be able to type all the names and read all the facts, but this game is awesome and the style is so cool. Can you publish a post-compo bird catalog so we can enjoy? Very creative

Speedrun for light by _mK_ 2022-10-07T00:00:53Z

This is a fantastic platformer! The wall slide and wall jump physic were so satisfying, and having the screen ratchet over like a typewriter was so cool! And that was such a good way to implement the 10 second counter. Of course, the music and graphics were really good too. I hope to make games like this someday!

Press me...or die by Vykri 2022-10-04T21:31:17Z

Most humorous game I've seen so far. The colors and style and story all went very well together! Very nice job. I hope you got to enjoy your cup of coffee irl!

LD52 — Harvest

Harkonnen Daily by asfdfdfd 2023-01-16T23:54:35Z

haha I love it! Once I realized I was dropping humans into the worms, I understood the AAAHHHHHHH sound... Poor humans. Very nicely done and awesome graphics!

Harvest Dune by rrsmtz 2023-01-17T00:07:45Z

This is amazing! I haven't beat it yet, but it's fun enough to keep trying. Love the terrible noises and screen shake when the worm is almost there...

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-10T03:54:31Z

This was so nice! I enjoyed playing and the music was relaxing. The isometric layout and the particles when you click were my favorite parts. Well done!

Rookie Harvester by VA_kuro 2023-01-17T00:25:03Z

I REALLY liked your artwork. I also like the instructions up front so I knew what all the buttons did. Nice job

Combine Harv-racer by procrasteroid 2023-01-10T04:17:33Z

Really enjoyed this racer! The corn growing back was awesome, and it helped me see where the track was going to turn, though I swear the cows appear in the track more often than elsewhere. Fun game with satisfying art and "cow pixels". I was steering with both hands by the end

LD58 — Collector

Clean Line by Jesús González 2025-10-10T05:24:45Z

You did a really nice job on the artwork and the animations. When I completed the first level, I was so excited when the whole thing slid down to reveal the level above. The level design was great too, the rocks where exactly where I wanted to put track, which made me plan around them. Can't wait to try the post-jam version too!

LOOKING FOR THE GOOD STUFF by Ntimi 2025-10-21T03:57:54Z

This was so satisfying trying to get back with it getting harder and harder to see. I love the randomness of the houses, the pros and cons of choosing upgrades, and of course, the charming art and music. And something about black and white plus orange was such a perfect color scheme. The swaying trees, the creepy sounds when you get too far away, all of this combined made the perfect game.

Invasive Spectral Projectiles by HacksawUnit 2025-10-10T05:10:49Z

I ended up playing this game after seeing a few of your posts on the feed throughout the event. You clearly have a passion for game development, the artwork, the mechanics, the theme, etc. As with others, it's too hard for me, but it reminds me of Cuphead (which I also can't beat) and I think you executed it perfectly for the genre. If I ever get much better at this kind of game, I'm going to remember the creepy skeleton pirate thing and come back to this.

The Tacks Collector by Coda Highland 2025-10-10T05:02:02Z

I clicked on this game because of the clever title/theme. I enjoyed it and appreciated it more after playing a couple times. I'm always a fan of games that have double jump, and slowdown was a really important mechanic for this game. Nice job.

Tiles Collector by dhim 2025-10-21T01:17:27Z

This is the most unique game I have played, and I really like that it's a game inspired by your love for math and for computer science. Very quickly when playing, I immediately wanted to write a program to help me solve these puzzles.

I love the color picker. I rarely see cool interfaces like this, it's always just a lot of buttons all over the screen, but you came up with an interface perfectly suited for how it was being used. I also like that the game was part of a bigger webpage with links to the source, the change log, etc.

I hope that you get to share your puzzles even after the jam is over, and that someday a company like NYT wants to buy this game from you.

Carrot Collector by F1Krazy 2025-10-12T03:25:38Z

Really nice job on making a well-rounded puzzle game. I like that there are new mechanics as the levels go on. I thought the last level was great after you fixed it. Nice work on this, and really impressive that it was done on TIC-80

lone alien by Verbante 2025-10-12T04:26:16Z

When I saw this I realized how perfectly a UFO game fits the theme. Well done for that, and nice job making such a clean and easy to understand UX. I was able to figure out how to play really quickly. I love how the friends were sometimes easy to confuse, but very fair because they were in fact different. I saw something about 2-player support? Is that real or just something built into pico-8?

Key Master by ancooper 2025-10-13T04:11:31Z

Woah, I kept playing over and over thinking there were some that weren't possible, and I would run out of lives. Then I discovered there's a whole other tower with more cards to the left! Nice job, and excellent pixel art.

Attic Thrifter by Sthor726 2025-10-20T19:39:03Z

This game gets bonus points for being one of a few that can suck me into the game and forget my surroundings, even if just for a few minutes. As others have said, the beauty of this game is in its completeness. Artwork, screen transition animations, musical sound effects, a menu screen, and easy to learn mechanics. I like that you can learn how things like how the rat and holes in the floor work with a little trial and error rather than being too verbose telling the user how they work. Nice game!

Super Sucker by leorean 2025-10-12T04:17:05Z

This was such a well done, complete game. The graphics and audio are amazing. I love the animations when transitioning to a new area. I love that different areas have different color pallets. Seems like a great example of doing a few things really well vs a bunch of things poorly. Simple concept that was very satisfying to play.

Cryptozootography by Jahwffrey 2025-10-21T15:00:45Z

This was great. I love that you move automatically, felt like a Disneyland ride. Best photo I got was the Dodo, but no bigfoot. Really clever idea and great execution. Something about the lighting and how the trees were 2D made it seem like a storybook too. Great game!

Paperboy: Time to Collect by sslees 2025-10-13T04:51:38Z

Thank you all for the kind words. I relied heavily on Cursor to build the "engine" for this one, and while I was really impressed by how it was able to draw everything with no image assets or anything like that, there's no way I would have been able to come up with that on my own. It did take a lot of fiddling to get working, but in the end I was really happy with the result.

Glow below by robin_schmitz 2025-10-12T19:27:35Z

My favorite part is the unique controls. I love that it really felt like paddling. I would second what others are saying and request a free-play mode where you can collect without a time limit. I love that the whirlpools push you away from them. And I like the lighting and coloring. Nice game!

Pumpkin Jam by SoloAdventurerGames 2025-10-12T04:10:29Z

This is the first game I've playtested this compo that was Halloween themed, and it was really enjoyable. I saw the teaser you posted of the trees when developing and knew I had to check it out. Really nice entry for a compo. It reminded me of collecting gems in Spyro. I think playing with a trackpad was my downfall, so I might try again with a mouse to see if that makes it easier to control. Overall I love it.

Reap In Peace by ssiannas 2025-10-12T04:44:14Z

This was great. I'll admit it took me an embarrassingly long time before I realized it was going to be an idle game, but it made me smile once I put it together. Nice upgrades. As with any idle game, it's always a guessing game how many more upgrades there are and how long you want to play. Nice job team!

Currency Collection Corvid by Elanor 2025-10-20T19:24:26Z

This was a nice, simple game with fun little animations. Great job doing audio for a first time game too! Most people skip that early on. I learned what "corvid" means, and now I feel like I know what the world looks like to a crow. Wish I had gold coins I could leave out for them.

Space Cleaner by Cahard 2025-10-21T04:07:37Z

I really like the ship's momentum. I played Outer Wilds a bit which has the same sort of outer space physics, but it made me so motion sick. This game is great because your perspective is fixed, which is much better when judging distance and relative position when making turns. And thanks for the arrow back to the station! Well done.
