Delightful, and works pretty well. Very smooth gameplay, I enjoy flinging the asteroids out of my way. Love the graphics.

smooth gameplay and good art style
Nice to play and nice art. Chill and good!
Oh my that's a very interesting game you have here. Got me a little bit confused with the controls, but me big smarty managed to read description and after that all was good.
I did feel like ship is a little bit too, I don't know, floaty? Like, I felt that I could really Tokyo Drift my way through the space, but even if I did 180 turn, ship was like it was stuck in a butter and kept going the other way. And I also was avoiding asteroids since I thought they are obstacles. At some point I kinda felt fuel mechanic is just punishing: once you didn't get money to refuel and flew too far away it's pretty much game over.
With that said, I had fun! That could be a nice project if you decide to work on it further. :)
The controls felt a bit strange, but actually worked pretty well. I enjoyed the meditative collecting of trash, and the meta progression was good. Some thoughts:
- I would have liked to have some kind of ending? I got to a point where I'd upgraded everything to its max, and there was nothing more to do. It seemed like the trash respawned? - The description says "There is no friction in the vacuum of space", but there's a lot of friction if you stop the thruster. With the limited fuel, I'd have liked to have been able to take advantage of the vacuum by drifting, but I couldn't, since it just stops after a little bit when I reduce the thruster to zero.
Anyway, nice game!
@jaco-van-hemert Thanks for the detailed review! Yes, there really is an issue with momentary slowdown. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time for the endgame.
@0x0961h Thanks so much for the review! This behavior when turning 180 degrees was intended (but there's definitely room for improvement here)))). I didn't have time for an in-game tutorial, so I had to include it in the description.
I really like the graphics. Maybe I would choose a different sound for the garbage.
@borisfrommurmansk spasibo za obzor))) Originally, the garbage collection sound was more meditative, but for some reason, it became significantly distorted when exporting the project.
Great game! Completed it 100%, then flew to the edge of the map. It would be cool to add some Easter eggs to the map, like an UFO or something like that.
@pvb Haha! Glad you liked it! I had the idea to add UFOs and cows in spacesuits, but didn't quite have enough time :)
Is this your first time participating in a game jam? You did an amazing job! The game feels very complete, and the art style is very consistent. I’m not very good at controlling my spaceship, but I had a lot of fun, haha.
The ship is so cute, lots of character. The idle animation gives it so much life. Great job with the parallax and "screen shake" to give accelerating a sense of scale. Initially I was avoiding the asteroids afraid of crashing, but kind of love that you can just barge them out of the way. A little bummed I got to max upgrades so quickly, was hoping to push for more. Had a good time, great job.
A really nice game with good visual, art style and sound design, the movement of the spacecraft feels smooth and the control feels responsive, and I love space games:)
I do feel thrust above the second level is a bit redundant in the current gameplay loop, it's difficult for your magnet to grab the junk during those speed, and the map size and density of junk field doesn't justify using them for travel either. They also consume fuel faster, so overall just use the first level ends up being the most efficient. Maybe some added features such as environmental hazards would give more reasons to use them.
not bad for first game!!
It’s a pretty fun little game — though holding down the mouse button for too long gets a bit tiring. Other than that, it’s quite enjoyable; I got a bit hooked :)
What a piece of art! Really nostalgic vibe! I love color palette of the whole game and the consistent style including the music!
Cool game, that's impressive for a first game, there's a lot of attention to details and gamefeel. The gameplay loop works pretty great and having to choose between refill and upgrades is a good idea. My only gripe would be with the controls, I dont find it necessary to have to click to steer the ship, locking the mouse cursor inside the window and just moving the mouse could be enough. It could be great to also have a full keyboard input scheme as well (steering with left/right arrows maybe).
This was really well done! Especially for a first game :O I loved the art. The saturated blue and orange on the dark background really made for a very pretty and cohesive style. I also really liked the parallax effect you gave to the stars :D The upgrades also felt meaningful. Maybe it would have been nice to have a 'finish the game' upgrade, such that there is a nice end to the experience :)
If I have to nitpick, I could say that it was a bit unclear to me whether I could fly on top of the planet. And I did not really feel the need to fly far away from my station. Perhaps the rewards could have been bigger the further you get, but it would be risky to do because of the fuel? And finally, I wish it was longer :P
Great submission! I really enjoyed it :D
Interesting control scheme. Very polished feel.
thank you for bringing attention to the existential threat posed by space trash
first of all I'm a little biased because I love space games! Second of all, this is your first game? Congrats!!! This game is beautiful, super polished and has awesome audio and music. I really enjoyed this!
Cool graphics and a surprisingly deep system, great job! Controlling with scroll wheel is more challenging than i thought.
This is an impressive entry! Congratulations on your first game and your first jam! I really enjoy the visuals and how well the theme is conveyed. The collecting mechanic feels satisfying, but I think it would be more streamlined if the ship turned toward the mouse.
Unusual controls but they work! Congratz ;)
well for your first game this is awesome. keep going. i think for starting out 10 pieces of trash to collect at the beginnig would be a bit easier to find the way into the game and then increment. in my first play i was collecting fifty and was way way off from the station, but hey was nice experience.
I like the concept a lot, especially for a first game this was amazingly well executed. The art is nice and simplistic. The control scheme took some getting used to. Mouse wheel did not properly work for me, and clicking to set the new vector could have probably done better with a smooth transition rather than instantly snapping to it. Other than that, really nicely done!
The theme attracts me at the first glance and the game is so fun! (Though the control is a little bit hard for me)
the art style is really neat~
Really pretty game with a fun and relaxing gameplay! The music really adds to the overall vibes as well which was nice. The controls took awhile to get used to though
Beautifully made game! And that too its your first one! Thats insanely good!!
Loved the premise, art-style and the entire mood of the game. I am loosing all my gas before I can find any oil reserves though XD
@xeridian No worries, bro! The station's got your back. You can refuel and even upgrade your fuel tank there.
Sorry that got cut from the tutorial - time was not on my side! 😅
Nice game  well done !
Great game! There already are a lot of gameplay elements and it feels satisfying to collect all the trash. Great job!
weird controls, i didn't understant it at first, but after i understood it, it was a fun game anyway, very nice graphisms !
I loved the reality-inspired controls and inertia of the ship...and the art!! One thing that _slightly_ confused me was that the UI seemed to imply I would _lose_ money when depositing trash at the station (by prefixing the gains with a `-`), but I got past this confusion pretty quickly.
This is a fantastic first entry into Ludum Dare; well done.
@caer My bad, I missed that minus sign. Good catch, thanks! And thanks for the feedback! :)
Really nice clean art style! love the colour palette and the parallax effect in the background.
One thing I think would improve the flow of the gameplay loop is automatically depositing trash when docking at the station, I think I expected that to happen every time I docked, and wondered why I didn't have the money to refuel until I remembered the Jettison Trash button 😅
I like the UI design, very nice
for some reason this game made me think about time dilation and length contraction. 10/10 проснулись))))
Nice game! I love the simple style and the intense music. The acceleration effect is really cool. The gameplay is very addictive, but I'm expecting something special at the end when I upgrade all my spaceship. В целом очень зашло! Screenshot_8.jpg
That's a very cool entry, probably one of my favorites so far. The idea is cool, it's well executed, it's pretty. I wish there was a bit more attention paid to game feel, like particles behind the ship, a more dramatic effect when accelerating into an asteroid, the UI being a bit more reactive to what happens in the game, etc. that would have make the game much more polished. I **love** the screen shake when accelerating, it's very well done. I know this is time consuming and that time is a limited resource here, obviously. But, I don't really like the 3 upgrades system, I feel like it's everywhere in games these days and your game is already enjoyable to play without it, so I wish it was even more enjoyable to play without relying on that upgrade feature.
Anyway, overall it's a very solid submission, congratulations!
Tried to pull off a trick shot and use my fuel to coast back to the space station, unfortunately out of fuel means that no coasting so I lost all my space debris :(
Double whammy of first game and first jam! You did a great job! Interesting direction with the controls using wheel up and down for thrust level. Hope you had fun and are going to take part again!
Great work, looks like a complete and finished entry! Quite addictive too. Also I fully expected that bumping into stuff is a no-no, however I found later that it doesn't matter and I can go full blast, crushing everything in my way.
Played till I maxed out and then ventured into the deep space :) But man, this game looks astonishing and well polished. I am so in love with the look and feeling of this game. This sci-fi space ambient is dope. Kickass entry for solo first jam :raised_hands: space_cleaner.png
Well done, as many people in here I didn't understand the coommands at first time. Use the mouse wheel for increasing speed is interesting. I like the graphisms, especially the color choices.
Fun game, I made it to around 3000, unfortunately the Game Over screen prevented me from proving this haha!
The controls were a but confusing at first, but once you get the grip, it becomes clear what needs to be done! I personally love the upgrade system and was a bit sad, to see that there are only so few upgrade levels you can do - but it is a game jam after all!
Something I would have loved would be some kind of danger, like enemies you need to avoid, ship malfunaction or damage taken from asteroids. That would make achieving a high score more satisfying.
The overall look and feel is very clean and well put together. UI, music, sounds and art style are well fitting! Good job :)
The artstyle is quite polished! The game feels nice to play, but it would be even better with some more elements to it. For example: damage when hitting asteroids, or pirate ships chasing you. Strong entry overall
I finally collected enough, but unfortunately the fuel ran out!
The top-level acceleration feels amazing! This style is great, I hope you keep up the good work.
Nice little game, good polishing. A little bit weird controls, needs time to adapt. I would like to see ending/winning screen(
YOOO I this is so dang cool. Really appreciate the inspiration from Societies Stranding! One idea that would make it even better is if you took the minimap feature!
Loved this game! Very satisfying collecting mechanic, and the ship controls feel pretty polished. Great work!
this is the longest i played a ludum dare game, the mechanics are so simple but the endlessness of the trash, the way there are areas that have so much of it, the desire to collect all of them ++!!! the very good player controller make this game kinda addicting. the visuals are very simple and consistent, which totally works w the game, the music is pleasant, sound effects too. amazing game in my opinion!!!! bravo
That was a lot of fun! Good music, good art, and I enjoyed the vibes. It would be interesting to try out a more physics based movement system where you kept floating in one direction unless you actively braked -- seems like that would allow for more optimization of fuel usage. I also made it all the way to maxing out my stats but then I kinda wanted a final goal to reach for. Something like flying to another planet or something, but that's far outside a game jam scope. Nice work!
It's a very good concept. Moving around is nice, balance keeps engaged, there is nice fail condition and I like that hitting smth only takes away fuel. The only thing that got into my eye was that the big planet is as colorful and contrasty as the objects we can hit, so at first I was afraid to touch it. Could be full scale 3d game made with Kojima productions about gathering trash in space while trying to survive some creepy alien mystery going on =^_^=
Nice cleaner job! I hope that all that trash will be cleaned soon ^_^
Spectacular visuals. I love the art style, truly! The game is satisfying to play and controlling the ship is fun. It's a simple idea, collecting debris and it's done really, really well!
Very solid execution. Gameplay is a good balance of familiarity and novelty. Love how magnet is working.
Two things whuch can be better.
Could use a bit more content/progress, to look forward too. Maybe something small, like radar, or a laser to break bigger garbage chunks.
And there is still friction, in spite of what is stated in description. Making it impossible to fly around without using fuel most of time, just small thrusts here and there.
Best game I have played so far in this game jam. Has some comments said, would love an ending, or an objective, other than that, solid game, simple but so effective in everything. Congratulations, you are a great game developer!
Really fun game! Loved that you can upgrade at the station.
A very strong base for incremental games. Very good visual. Good controls.
I really like the ship's momentum. I played Outer Wilds a bit which has the same sort of outer space physics, but it made me so motion sick. This game is great because your perspective is fixed, which is much better when judging distance and relative position when making turns. And thanks for the arrow back to the station! Well done.
I like the game a lot. It felt a bit floaty at first, but I got used to the commands, it made me reflect on my physics classes, that I took so many years back I am embarassed to think how long it was! The graphics were quintessentially simple and effective, clean and very good to read. The UI flew great, the incremental gameplay was fun, even if I felt after a while there was more options for incrementing in more different ways. Definitely a great fun first game, can't wait to play any future entries from you!
I played for just a while but I had so much fun! I wish the arrow pointing the station was in a different color cause I didn't notice it. My husband watched me playing and when I started screaming "LOW FUEL?! GO TO BASE?! I'm lost in the space!" he pointed me the arrow:P I guess I didn't see it because the steroids are also red-orange
Good art and sound design. The game offers a calm, meditative experience, but it would be nice to see more challenges. Maybe adding events or unique pieces of garbage that tell a story through the environment would make it more engaging.
Gah!!! This is the game I've been trying to write for ages!
Well, not exactly, but this is the same idea I had for Orbitum Scaterum (which I've done for LD twice, and mostly failed haha)
