LD39 — Running out of Power

Planet Nanadoo: Quest for the Powered Fruit by MrTroy 2017-08-03T02:30:08Z

Nice work! I like the concept a lot, and it good! That said, I had a few issues where I just couldn't figure out what to do with the SOS beacon when I got it. I tried hitting x on it, carrying it to the base and hitting x there, all sorts of things, but couldn't get it working. I also found that when I shot with the character it would go where I was facing, rather than one of the cardinal directions, which made aiming very difficult, since if I was running away and tried to turn around quickly it didn't aim straight back. I wish I was able to see what happened later in the game, since over all it was pretty cool. Good work!

Recapitate by superpokeunicorn 2017-08-03T02:46:28Z

Nice art, and it was a fun concept as well :D. The head hitting the floor felt a bit strange, but I suppose it makes sense given that, you know, it's a floor.

Solar Defence by w1n5t0n 2017-08-03T03:40:36Z

Nice! Aside from a few hiccups like getting stuck on the edge of platforms, the fact that it seemed like you could shoot through the top box but not the bottom one, and the fact that when I launched the game in the default resolution it meant the score display was off screen it was quite fun to play! The jump was very floaty, which could be good or bad depending on how you intended it. It meant that I had to worry more about prioritizing what enemies to shoot. My strategy evolved into hanging around the middle platforms where I could jump into the light to recharge, and just ducking down to the bottom layer whenever enemies approached. Adding a top box/crystal where the light is could be interesting, but it may be too much to deal with. Nice work!

All Systems Online by stormforce02 2017-08-03T03:29:34Z

Quite a cool concept, it reminds me somewhat of Captain Forever, (which you should be able to find by searching the name). The movement felt a little slow, but that may be because I never got many engines, unlike some of the reviewers here :D. If you polished up the AI and (in my opinion) made the movement a little more fluid, it could be quite fun! I would also have preferred an easier way to choose what items to buy, since I'm on a laptop, so it's hard to scroll to the correct item. Good work!

Don't Let the Light Go Out by BeamKirby 2017-08-03T03:07:23Z

That was one of the first games that I've tried out that was fun enough to play for a while. The different robots and their different attacks were pretty cool, the first time I saw a snake I had no idea how to deal with it, I had to figure out that I was able to shoot beneath me, which was a fun discovery. The art was good in game, but the font/that strange effect was rather annoying to read. I liked the evil chuckle, although the rest of the sound effects felt too jarring to listen to for a long time since they kept on playing on repeat. Try pitch shifting them to make it a little less repetitive perhaps? Over all, a really fun game. Good work!

Breaking Down by Jose Souza 2017-08-03T03:19:40Z

A very impressive game! It was complete, and it features graphics and music that are quite lovely. The fact that the controls were so heavy and the music was so calm contrasted to a somewhat annoying amount with the time limit, but I imagine that was your goal. Great work! I'm really super impressed.

Running Out of Power by Jordanfb 2017-08-03T14:40:34Z

@razveck, were you trying to play the game on a desktop computer? I should have specified that it needs to be played on a laptop, otherwise there's no battery to charge and use up. Thanks for the bug report!

@gentel oops, yeah, those are from when I was debugging the movement of the screens, oops. Every button should work, even if you use the arrow keys to get there, not that there's much reason to... About the idea for a minimum bound: yeah, that probably makes sense to add, I was going to add a setting which allowed you to "start" the game at a lower percentage than what you were at, and then it just wouldn't count the scores until you got there, (and I even added that in the hover text over the asterisk if you drag the slider as far left as possible) but I didn't have the time. Thanks for the review!

Running out of robots by Offz 2017-08-03T02:58:35Z

That was pretty fun! I sometimes had difficulty figuring out what station the robots wanted to be sent to (the circle with the blue right side?) and I kinda felt like it could have just been a single screen with no need for the main character who got shoved around a lot, but I kept playing it, so add some music and it could be pretty catchy!

After the Crash by Nalozyc Shade 2017-08-03T02:10:12Z

It was an interesting game to play through, and I think I mean that in a good way. I didn't quite know how the power meter in the bottom left was affected, so it kinda felt like it was there to arbitrarily fit the theme, but maybe I just didn't get it. The story was interesting, and the characters seemed pretty realistic, although I can't say I've ever had this experience myself (and hopefully never will). Good job!

SpaceReturn by Larx 2017-08-03T15:03:37Z

That was a lot of fun to play through! I think you commented in another space game about how terrible yours was, so I clicked through you username to find and try it myself. I have to say I disagree entirely with your pronouncement.

Though the game has some balancing issues (i.e. always running away pretty much just lets you survive), and there's no real point to using floor or making an interior at all, I really enjoyed it! If you polished it up you could try selling it for a couple bucks, because it was actually quite fun to play :D. Great work!

After Dust by Island 2017-08-03T03:58:22Z

That was such a super cool game that it makes me sad that I had such difficulty figuring out how to play it! I must have encountered a bug in the inventory system or something, since it seems like I was never able to do anything with the items that I picked up. I would pick up a piece of paper with the computer passwords on it, but then the computer option would still tell me that I needed a password. I also was unable to use the gun to storm an alien hideout, and I wasn't able to use the welding tools (I thought they went with the escape pod, maybe I was wrong) It seemed like there were just some bugs using things from your inventory. The nugget of a game is there though - I was searching around, and when I found the gun for the first time I was super excited because I was ready to go and storm the alien base, but when I went outside I still wasn't able to go to the base. I really want you guys to fix it up, because it's a really cool game idea, and the presentation was quite good as well. You could try adding sound, but really it's not needed that much, just a quiet background piece for polish. Please try fixing it cause it's super cool!

Power Up by MMM 2017-08-03T02:40:28Z

I liked the art style, but as some other reviewers said, it was all on the left hand of the screen. The fact that the "stream" of power bubbles were at such a strange angle made the rotation quite confusing, especially since I'm pretty sure that there were different sized bubbles as well, so you couldn't see where they were located. The audio was nice though, it had a nice moody feel to it which fit the darkness of the graphics and the rest of the game. Good work!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

TCHOU by Sirkovitch 2020-10-06T03:49:00Z

Your itch.io page is 404ing. Perhaps you didn't make the page public? Shame since the images look nice. Good luck! Edit: Now that it's playable and I played it, let me just say that was not what I expected at all! Very entertaining and a fun way to use the theme without being too boring. Only thing is that I wish I could have TCHOU'd during the final cinematic sequence in celebration! I liked it! Nice work.

Loopy Particle Simulator by nusan 2020-10-06T05:04:05Z

This is super fun! I would've loved a way to determine for sure what particle was what just because sometimes in the free play I lost track of which was where (and a checklist of which particles I've made for completionist's sake but I guess there's something to be said for exploration). With a save/load function and a massive list of particles this would be fantastic! The only other thing that was slightly annoying was that there was no way to split up particles (which I guess is probably scientifically accurate? But still) but that meant that you had to create some particles twice which wasn't great. Super fun, super pretty, and solid music as well! Nice work!

Stuck in a Loop by AdroitConceptions 2020-10-06T03:58:03Z

A very literal take on the theme! The controls were a little frustratingly slow to respond but I imagine it would've been too easy to win if they were too responsive. The ball didn't quite match with the low poly background, maybe a low poly (or visible faceted) ball would've fit better graphically?. The music fit the game pretty well. Nice work!

Mind the Gap by coderTrevor 2020-10-06T03:45:49Z

I liked the graphics and the puzzles were interesting. Flying the drone was quite fun although obviously that was just a sub puzzle. The music from the boombox was a little loud but I guess that just goes to show I'm on the mom elephant's side :P. Nice work!

load_save(); by rubr 2020-10-06T02:18:58Z

Nice work! I imagine it was a ton of work to implement so many different weapons in a single weekend! The style is all really coherent and solid! I wasn't able to beat some of the later levels, just because there were so many, but I imagine with some practice I could get better at dodging and juking them. I tried to use the trap and stunning weapons to set the enemies up for later runs but sometimes had difficulty with that. The game was a lot of fun!

Caterpillar Cowboy by eldogg 2020-10-07T00:56:29Z

Pretty dang fantastic! Lots of fun, from the concept to the graphics to the music to the sound effects to the voice acting! Every once in a while I would fall off the edge but I got reset so that was fine. Also obviously the final win screen seemed a little rushed but getting the wings was a fun ending to the tale! Good buildup and story as well :D. Nice work!

while(true) by TomekS 2020-10-06T04:23:10Z

This is really cute! It turns out I can type left, right, and move very quickly! A ton of levels which is super cool, I also love the art and aesthetic, from the old style "code" on the left to the static at the top of the camera view. I absolutely love the animation for falling off the edge of the map it's hilarious. While the gameplay gets a little old (especially on the hard mode, I didn't realize there were a hundred and one proc gen levels wow!) it's quite fun, I made it to level 21 before deciding to take a break and write this. A very coherent and nicely styled game! Nice work!

It would be interesting if you added things like rocks you could scan as extra commands to add more interesting gameplay after you've mastered the basics?

Recurring Detective by RedGuyFromHell 2020-10-06T03:39:19Z

It's a shame there isn't all that much there story wise, I like the graphics a lot and the mood is quite good! Some lighting and it would look fantastic! Solid music, interesting seeming story, could be interesting to finish it! At some points things got a little disjointed since I talked to people in the wrong order, but it seems like it's a work in progress so I'm sure you guys are aware. I've had some good luck with using Yarn Spinner to deal with story stuff like this and to manage story state and it works with Unity, you guys should check it out. Nice work.

Return to Loop's Bend by kristinamay 2020-10-06T02:00:22Z

You guys need to include the Love2D dlls in the windows upload (idk about the other ones). Otherwise only people who have Love2D installed can play it. Edit: Now that I can play it I did so! It's definitely an interesting start, although obviously unfinished. It was quite ambitious of you to take on making a whole town during a game jam! The art is interesting, although there are some places where the implementation could've been improved like making sure you spawn by the door of the room (and I think you should change your blend mode on your sprites to stop the weird outline like on the librarian's hair? Either that or maybe turn off blending or something like that to get a pixel perfect sprite. There's some setting which I forget from my time making Love2D games). There were clearly some interesting story points planned like the convention and the graves being dug up, so it's a shame they couldn't get finished. Goodness knows I've overscoped many a game so I can't blame you for that, now you know that you need to make a little smaller game next time! Good work.

GUNRAIL by Sisyphean Games 2020-10-06T03:15:39Z

This was a lot of fun! I enjoyed making and upgrading the trains. I felt like the maps benefited from different strategies (but also there were some strategies which were simply better like getting a bouncing cannon early). The art was simple but it worked, same with the audio. Nice concept and nice work!

Caterpillar Dissent: Deliverance by Skleembof 2020-10-06T02:27:37Z

Nice work especially since you had to pivot so late in development! The art was impressive and I enjoyed how massive I grew. I think the controls could've used some work but you knew that it seems. I wish there was more to explore and more to eat!

Mission: Robo by Edvard Sandquist 2020-10-06T03:27:57Z

Nice work! I don't know why some of the characters seem to come up far more often than others? I saw countless Q's and U's and barely any if any C's at all. Strange! Side note your music doesn't play any more after you get around 1:40 in, presumably the track just isn't looping? The graphics look great and I could see this being used to practice typing. Perhaps you could add a challenge mode which speeds up faster? That and a character per minute challenge would be fun! I thought it would get faster but I decided to stop around 400 seconds in because it was taking too long to speed up to a challenging rate, but maybe I'm not the audience for the game! Good work.

Sisyphus Beetle Takes His Daughter to Work by pee-thief 2020-10-06T22:39:52Z

I came into this expecting... not this... I intentionally didn't look at the screenshots before playing it and was surprised and entertained when I first made my way up the hill and saw the great art in the background! Super entertaining, very apt audio (if a bit loud), and a fun concept. I'm not sure if the time share is really an escape from hell but I guess to each their own! Nice work!

The Ages Among Worlds by Victor Vk 2020-10-07T01:35:04Z

Interesting experience! I assume that the game part is rather unfinished, but it looks pretty as other people commented. I could see this as a multiplayer death match style map especially with the portals linking the islands. With some animated materials like making the portals all swirly and adding some particle effects this could be quite nice! If you want to focus more on the art side then I recommend partnering up with someone else who can focus on the programming. Often times game development discord servers will have spaces to form teams (if you don't know where to start perhaps the reddit.com/r/gamedev discord server? Or perhaps one focused on the community of a game developer that you like!) that way your next jam can be even more fun!

Fleder Flopin by Diefleder 2020-10-06T01:23:45Z

Nice work! It was quite challenging but I worry the challenge leaned towards the frustrating side instead of the rewarding side. I felt like I couldn't see some of the things that were hitting me and I couldn't make some of the jumps so I was stuck around on the ground unless I was able to get some of the speed up cubes, but then I'd get hit and then slowed down back to the beginning. Best I got was a couple laps. I liked the aesthetic and thought it was strange but fun. The music and sound effects were fun and light hearted. Maybe a different style of game exploring these aesthetics? Good work for a weekend!

TimeHop by Isha 2020-10-06T00:48:52Z

Nice! I obviously haven't beaten this entirely yet, but I'm about to beat the second level as it were without spoiling too much, and I'm gonna leave the game open so that hopefully I can beat the entire thing! It's a fun way to make the clicker last longer and it also means you get to revisit the parts that you've seen before and it definitely fits the theme. It also doesn't require too much manual clicking before you get to automation which is useful since I just spent all weekend clicking to make my game! Nice work.

I kinda wish your upgrades influenced the stages outside of the one they're from? Like they upgrade the stage above them or something? Maybe that's in the game and I'll find it when I get further!

I love the variation, they're all different and cool in their own way and it's really interesting to see how! Note: on the third stage you can click and drag which is easier but maybe not intended? It's up to you obviously and I do appreciate not having to click constantly (but it kinda makes the auto one not as useful)

Final edit: I beat the game! It was a lot of fun, I absolutely loved the 3rd level I don't think I've seen mechanics like that in a clicker game before (maybe I just haven't played enough clickers). Nice work!

Loopbot by ctpeepee 2020-10-06T01:58:31Z

Oh man this was a tough one! I beat all eight levels although a few of them like level eight it took me ages. Part of the problem was that I kept confusing which key did what (I'm on a US keyboard maybe that was part of the problem?) I honestly didn't understand how to make my character move the way I wanted it to until level seven or eight, most of the early ones was just random keymashing and then hoping I made it... Perhaps letting the character move the way it would move during the practice session would help me figure out what beat to use? Cool game! While the graphics were obviously kenny graphics the fantastic music when you failed or died or whatever was great, and the beats all felt rewarding when you pressed them which was fantastic. Nice work!

Loopshoots by Stipple3D by stipple3D 2020-10-05T23:58:42Z

This is fantastic! It's a really cool combination of pinball and pong! I'm glad you're making a second version of it with some polish this could be super cool! I wish that you could see the loops constantly and that you could aim better so that you could target where you sent your balls to better space them out, I often found myself having to abandon a few balls since they were just too far away, or I found that I had two balls that were following the same path a second or so apart so it was super easy to keep them both alive. If I could aim at the loops and I knew how long each loop would take I'd be able to use the different timings to split them apart and juggle more balls and thus get more points! That and a little polish and juice and it'll be great! Super cool!

Loop Drifter by Lvl3Mage 2020-10-06T00:01:30Z

Edit: Last time I couldn't play it but it seems like itch.io hadn't loaded the game yet or something. It did and I was able to play! It was a lot of fun to play! It was a little punishing at times but at other times you made a perfect turn and it felt fantastic! At times it felt easier to just go backwards through the course since you don't drift out that way but it was fun! When I finished what I think is the last level and hit continue it seemed to error though? Nice work.

Internshit by MattC 2020-10-05T23:47:36Z

I enjoyed it! While at first I had no clue what to do I spent a couple of "loops" just looking around to find all the interactable objects so that I could then optimize my route for the final try, and I beat it! I enjoyed the mood of the game and I think everything was quite coherent from the art to the writing to the actions.

Orbited by CampfireGamesUK 2020-10-06T02:06:47Z

Nice job! While I understand the game is incomplete (I assume you'd be shooting at the things on the planets with your gun?) it's still an interesting world to move around in. I liked the graphics, the music was a little simple but it worked with the space theme. My main issue with the game was that the camera would jump around when you swapped orbits and sometimes it felt like when you swapped orbits you went the wrong way in the new orbit. I imagined it would be like a figure eight where the cross in the middle of the eight is where you switched orbits so you keep your general direction, but sometimes it ended up being more like an m where you switched orbits and also dramatically changed direction. Sometimes you sped up strangely and that was also a little odd, but nice work. I hope you keep working on it and finish up the guns that you made since they looked fun and made some fun effects! Nice work.

LD57 — Depths

Bedrock Rush by superjai 2025-04-19T23:29:18Z

Nice work! Very funny vibes with the characters and the sound effects. It kept me coming back for more I kept playing the first level until I made it much further up the scoreboard from where I started. Only two things that I noticed were that it kinda felt like the physics of moving along the track were slower than the physics of jumping and flying around, which may totally have been intentional but then did make big hills quite punishing, and then that I couldn't quite tell how well I would do on the scoreboard based on how well I was doing in the race. It was really cool to see the seemingly procedurally generated tracks, but that was tough with a global leaderboard it felt like you had to get a good track to get high up there. Lots of fun, I could totally imagine playing this with my friends in local or remote co-op!

Li-Buried by Jordanfb 2025-04-08T23:50:44Z

whoops this is a comment I made on the wrong game. Ignore!

Li-Buried by Jordanfb 2025-04-08T23:59:41Z

@wolfier Thanks! Yeah originally the construction mode was intended to let you organize tables and place walls and floors and stairs and real shelves not just tables, but uhhhh turns out the game jam time limit got me. I'll definitely be releasing an updated version a little later that lets you set the position of things "correctly" with the editor mode and a few more things I wish I had had time for.

@ everyone else, thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

Li-Buried by Jordanfb 2025-04-15T04:46:15Z

Sorry to hear that @muriel it should be fixed in the post jam version on itch, but you can also use the pause menu "I'm stuck" button to have it teleport you back to the surface.

Drilly's Journey by Alex Davies 2025-04-09T00:15:34Z

This is the best game I've played so far this ludum dare! It's a simple concept but then goes super far. It definitely has the opportunity for slight speedrunning since if you get misaligned you can go off in seemingly unintended directions, but at the same time every time I went somewhere I would wind up in a cave, it was sorta like "I feel like I'm so off the path they can't have planned for _this_" and then it turns out you folks did XD. Lots of fun, I feel like I must have missed some of the game but I made it to the ending. Very cute, good concept, concise, nice work!

Web build didn't work for me so I had to download the .zip but I'm playing on firefox so maybe that's why.

Little Delver by Andreadbx 2025-04-19T23:04:02Z

Lots of fun! I kept playing until I reached the scoreboard, but even then I definitely wanted to master the grappling hook so would have played to get better at that as well. I wish that the camera controls were less "controlling" -- I wasn't able to aim my grappling hook where I wanted to sometimes and it would overpower my mouse and point me in a weird direction that prevented me from aiming well if I was turning quickly. I also didn't quite get how the physics of the grapple winch worked, it seemed to act more like a brake in midair which sometimes I used to my advantage. Maybe it did in fact add more force towards the rope attachment point and I just couldn't tell? Walking along the ground was a little icy and felt hard to control especially when I was trying to rush back to the battery charging station, but the grappling hook was fun so it was fine in the air -- maybe that was part of your intent? I also felt a little silly going back to the charging station before exiting the base to go on a retrieval mission, maybe you just stay charged on the base or something? But that was minor. Nice work with the game, I loved the voice acting and the sound effects you made with your voice. Nice ambiance and nice work!

Nine to Five Nightmare by RelicTooth 2025-04-09T00:05:20Z

Great vibes, loved the graphics, I thought it was gonna be basic and simple and then whoah it took a turn that was wild. Nice game!

A New Hell by Kaish 2025-04-20T00:54:18Z

That was fun! When I first saw your game had bouncing ball controls I worried I would be totally unable to control it cleanly, but you did a good job making it actually feel controllable (unless of course I made a goofy mistake and started bouncing around wildly!) I liked your interpretation of the theme and you made a clean platformer that didn't overstay its welcome nice work. I was torn on the shield/attack controls -- I wanted to attack/shield constantly, and with no noticeable cooldown I was able to do that by spamming the spacebar. I did have to cheese the first level with projectiles though so it did come in useful then and I tried to avoid it if possible. It was useful against spikes as well but felt like there was no reason _not_ to press it. Maybe a cooldown combined with some coyote time so that if you press it just before or after hitting an enemy or spikes you deal damage instead of forcing the shield to be perfectly on? If dealing damage/using the attack against spikes removes the cooldown it would still allow for close quarters play but would allow for punishing people (like me...) who just spam the attack? Worth experimenting! Nice clean UI/level progression/sfx/cutscene at the end, those were well done. Nice work!

Sub-Silence by Pusheeneiro 2025-04-08T23:08:29Z

Great vibe, I definitely was not good enough at piloting to get 20, would love to see a video of how someone really good at the game plays since it's a cool idea. I tried to use the engine in bursts, with the idea that I'd glide past the enemies? But that didn't seem to happen. It was tough since once an enemy was nearby it didn't seem like there was all that much you could do, but that did help the vibes! Very clean, very consistent, nice work. I killed at most 2 at a time before being killed myself, so uhhh... put me on those leaderboards.

GTFD! by Valentin Roche 2025-04-08T22:05:04Z

Very cool! Would have loved some tracers to get a better indication of when the guns were firing since it took me a second to understand them at first, but it was a lot of fun. Eventually got to the point where I had thousands of coins but kept playing since it was just good vibes and fun to watch them come in and get destroyed by my army. I liked the concept of the tiles falling away as you descended further and further. I'm not sure if it was intentional that you couldn't place weapons on the tiles that returned after they fell away, but it made sense as a mechanic and definitely would have made the game a little more challenging if the number of tiles that fell away increased as you got deeper. I wasn't very sure about what exactly decided if you'd move down a level or not, it didn't seem to be number of waves (Since I would spam space like 20 times, although you also say that just adds to the wave count, so maybe it is number of waves?) and there was no obvious way to force it to go down earlier if you felt you were ready, so was a little confused by that, but overall very good moody vibes and fun and visceral to play. Just a little more player feedback for the actions they're taking (a noise when you spawn a new wave, an indication of what makes you fall etc, where the guns are firing) and I could play for a long time.

Inbetween the Depths by Keith Wang 2025-04-08T22:37:12Z

very fun! I maxed out all the purchases, eventually I got to the point where I was faster than all the fish and could just swim past them holding right then entire time spamming the OP air bubble gun. I enjoyed aiming the harpoon, I just A) rarely used it during early game since the bubble gun was faster and B) had difficulty switching back to the bubble gun if I missed a shot. Maybe with some higher level enemies that require both weapons to kill them it would force me to use the harpoon more. It's a shame I had to be forced to because there's something really nice about aiming it at a far away fish and hitting (or missing, having it wrap around the screen, and then hit them on the way down). Nice work!

EDit: I used the bubble gun mostly because it was easy to just stay at the bottom and shoot it off to the sides, and the reload was much faster than the harpoon so if I missed a shot it wasn't such a problem.

Yet Another Game About Digging A Hole by AploveStudio 2025-04-08T03:03:30Z

I haven't played the steam game, so it was fun to go into this basically blind (also my first time seeing someone else's hole digging game on ldjam, so blind there as well). The grapple was very smart, I got stuck pretty immediately without it. It may be helpful to put the controls on the itch page/here as well just so others know to swap to e and to right click to place dirt. I also made a hole digging game, but for different purposes (to store library books for ghosts), I think one thing mine kinda fails at is having a real deep purpose for digging the hole aside from it's fun, yours has the extrinsic motivation as well which helps.

Deeper into the Black Hole by On100Ruykajop 2025-04-08T23:54:36Z

Nice vibes. I also accidentally discovered whatever spacebar does. The transitions between levels were pretty hard since I couldn't recover my motion or tell what I was going into, but the visuals and sfx were fun. Keep it up!

Used To Be by Heiden.BZR 2025-04-08T21:25:25Z

I love a game with non-euclidean spaces. Nice work! I couldn't quite tell if I got to the end correctly or if I cheesed it by rotating when I wasn't supposed to, but either way made it all the way through :D

From The Depths by Whysguy52 2025-04-09T01:33:49Z

Nice work! I'm kinda glad you can keep playing after you die since I didn't figure out how to actually fight the bats until my 4th level. I'm proud to say I beat the 5th level without dying XD. The charge up was cool and nicely indicated with the flying upwards. Cool stuff! This could definitely become a lot of different things if you wanted to put more time into it. One funny bug I discovered was that I somehow stopped inbetween the doors or something? And my camera just looked out on the godot void. Keep it up.

Unfortunate Mishaps of Subsurface Uranium Mining by pierogo 2025-04-09T01:09:05Z

Nice work! Lots of programming went into this with remapping buttons and highscores, really enjoyed how the drill rotated when you turned, do kinda wish there was a way to turn off the shaking since it was pretty rough - or maybe I just constantly was running into obstacles idk. I was very bad at steering, I kept getting distracted with other tasks, but was fun! I liked how there were different alarms for different problems, it let me learn them to some extent.

High Pressure Arena by HexStart 2025-04-20T00:18:02Z

Whoah! Had a ton of fun, didn't score very well at first but eventually managed to drift and boost around the terrain and ended up with a 9825 high score after _many_ attempts. Witnessed on stream which was a lot of fun! I had to pick my engagements which really felt very "submarine" like, I couldn't just stand in the middle of the map and tank everything I had to dodge and weave around towards the landscape and then juke around it and face them head on. Only improvement I could think of would be a way to distinguish my missiles exploding other missiles harmlessly nearby me from their missiles hitting my hull and my health going down via sfx -- sometimes the screen shake wasn't quite clear how many missiles were causing me damage I just knew that I was in trouble. Very nice UI and loved the graphics in game as well the subs and seaweed were very cute, the colors very zen (and the different color subs very useful to know just how much of a pickle I was in). Lots of fun, definitely got into flow there zooming around. Nice work incredible job during a game jam!

Where I belong by un_kirik 2025-04-09T00:48:01Z

Very cute game! Loved the cutscenes, loved the art and vibes, managed to make it home :). Took me until pretty dang far down that the shrimp not only heal you but speed you up -- I was saving them in case I got damaged but that was a silly idea lol. No clue how many paths there are to the bottom, that seems like an interesting challenge of level design since there were any number of directions I didn't follow.

The Atlantis Protocol by LianaAvk 2025-04-08T23:47:58Z

hahaha that was a fun time. I like the vibes and it was interesting hearing people's stories. I crashed the game by intentionally failing to turn the handle during the forshadowed emergency, it crashed with "NameError: Name 'valve_current_turn2' is not defined". Hope you can fix it, that was fun!

Dancing in the Depths by nrankin13 2025-04-08T22:59:23Z

hahaha I love it. Great music, great vibes, although I did feel a little creepy ruining poor dogman's day. You got a genuine jump out of me when I forgot about the rules. Lots of fun.

Scampi by apoly 2025-04-08T23:29:40Z

Apparently I'm not as fast as everyone else it took me 15:06 to beat it, but it was a lot of fun doing so. I enojoyed the vibes it was fun (albeit somewhat frustrating sometimes) to watch the arms at work. At some point near the end my arms were pretty constantly vibrating and playing sound just when I was moving around, but aside from that a smooth experience. It was relaxing and as someone else said it felt like it had a clear purpose. I think the minimap made it a little too easy, but maybe if that was integrated with the SONAR it would have been just a little more challenging but still relaxing? Not sure. Either way it was a fun time! I wasn't sure what would happen if I had bought all the wrong upgrades I wonder if you're able to softlock by not having enough oxygen? But not sure and didn't try that out, by the time I considered it I was too invested to scrap a run. Lots of fun nice work.

A Sinking Feeling by mortusnegati 2025-04-09T00:32:58Z

What an experience! Made it to the bottom with 534 points, I kept on wondering what exactly I was doing but then I was distracted from interrogating by trying to stay alive. Cute coins, truly did a very good job keeping me distracted and engaged, still don't quite know what just happened. Cool stuff!

An In-Depth Documentary about Pebbles by Neon Kuroasa 2025-04-09T13:10:08Z

Short but sweet! I liked it a lot, fun ending, and fantastic graphics and narrative. Nice work!

Grapple to Glory by jddoesdev 2025-04-09T00:39:32Z

Interesting! It kinda felt like the wind was arbitrary and basically just a slower reset than what would happen if you had fall damage and a respawn... I couldn't tell when it would kick in or not, so felt like I was getting annoyed at it rather than at my lack of skill. I did made it to the bottom, but I didn't really feel like I learned much. The grappling was fun though

You Gnome the Drill! by P3ngui 2025-04-08T23:39:46Z

I definitely struggled returning back to the drill, so I tended to stay too close rather than do a full loop, perhaps with more skill I would have been able to. Then if I missed an exit I would have to spam jump up the wall to get resources. Was lots of fun though and a cool concept!

Cursed Catacombs by Ballistic 2025-04-08T22:19:33Z

for anyone who is confused -- the build is in the source folder zip, not sure if it actually contains source code or not but it contains a build for sure.

Cool stuff, I like the creepy horror vibes, they sure do love their torture implements don't they! I struggled a little bit with the controls -- I couldn't enter one hallway unless I was crouched and walking diagonally and I assume that wasn't the intent. I also died and discovered why you only live once XD. Congrats on the finished game!

Super BAD Boy! by basic_eagles 2025-04-09T00:52:38Z

Dang what an intro! The music and cutscene really adds a lot. Fun game, I struggled with the itch.io browswer build as well but I'm on firefox so maybe that's why. The jumping was a little rough, and i struggled that I couldn't aim behind me (and if I jumped over an enemy I couldn't aim down at them), but it was lots of fun and had great vibes. Keep it up!

Slime Miners by Kveg 2025-04-09T01:40:53Z

Ayyy I win!(?) Maybe we all lose. Very cute game, was a little unbalanced but that was totally fine given it's a game jam game and its nice and short. Was fun optimizing and upgrading my way to the top. Cute art as well! Cool to see a game made in love2d! (I assume, given the logo on the website).

Doctrines - LD57 Game by Riggen 2025-04-08T02:40:41Z

Very pretty game, sfx very solid as well! There's a lot of potential for sure, I hit a couple bugs with some cards not playing, but dang it looked great and you swung for the fences with all those complicated card mechanics.

Lost in Depth by No_Luca 2025-04-08T21:42:42Z

Interesting concept! I liked the lore, although I had some difficulties with the controls on levels 2 and 3 and couldn't seem to pick up any items on level 3. Keep at it!

What the bag! by Mamboman 2025-04-09T01:18:19Z

great game! I played it a bunch of times until I got 5 stars. That banana is tricky! It took me a while to figure out the trick but it was quite clever. Would be fun to see other levels with similar mechanics! Very cute with great audio nice work!

Descend by artemco 2025-04-09T00:21:55Z

Nice! Elegant gameplay, although I did find that just fleeing down the rope was enough to get me pretty far while still controlling the enemies. I do wish that there were different sounds for me killing something vs something damaging me since I wasn't quite sure if I hit some that got close or if they hit me without checking my health, which was a dangerous thing to do. The sword swing felt like it was slightly off from where I expected it? But I kept playing and trying and trying. Didn't make it to the bottom sadly I may not be good enough.

The fate of Carl by SagaDev 2025-04-09T01:01:23Z

Nice stuff! Impressive animations on the guns, nice intro animation, interesting concept. I think I got maxed out around 1k deep. Definitely needs a controls page (or you can write the controls here on this game page) to explain how to get started since I had to die before I even saw the defense management position. Did you folks compose this music? If so that's awesome.

Abimes by Kessel Nebula 2025-04-09T02:04:05Z

Screenshots look stunning -- it would be awesome if you posted a downloadable build, for some reason I can't play at all on my browser

Fall Off by HB10001 2025-04-08T02:56:09Z

Nice! Turns out I shouldn't go base jumping if my skill here is any representation of it. Art is cool, restarting was a little finicky I had to click it didn't seem like I could use my keyboard, (and I restarted a lot XD). Nice work!

Laying Pipe by C0SMIC 2025-04-09T01:59:44Z

Had to play the downloaded version since the UI didn't work for me online, but it was worth it :). Made it to the bottom, hahaha what a time. Great vibes great music, was creepy looking out there into the black with nothing to see. Loved how the fish changed as you got deeper and darker, they looked very pretty glowing in the dark. Nice work!

The Depths, A Floppy Cat Adventure by KataStudios 2025-04-08T02:50:35Z

Incredible! My poor laptop was struggling, but the game was super cool. Very fun controls and lots of settings as well.

The Depths, A Floppy Cat Adventure by KataStudios 2025-04-08T23:56:53Z

tried patch 1.0.2 and it failed to open, it created a txt file next to the .exe saying "failed to open file!" unfortunately that's not a very helpful error but it's what I got for you. I was able to play earlier though I just wanted to give it a shot again.

EDit: Yeah I guess I didn't understand the patch was just a patch, not all the game files. I was definitely expecting to just be able to unzip one thing and play, but glad it's an easy fix.

Depths of Color by threegoldeneggs 2025-04-09T02:52:44Z

Very fun! I kinda wish I had waited and played this on my computer, I was too excited by the idea and so I played it on my tiny phone. Was still a fantastic time (final score 1350 or so). I’d like to say it’s because of the phone but I’m also just bad at spotting things. Nice work!

Hollow Choir by Forik 2025-10-12T18:59:55Z

This was super cool! I wasn't able to make it past what I thought was the normal coffin, but maybe I was just confused by the coffin types or the different herbs. I loved the vibes and the drama of it all!

Claim thy Land by ranejeb 2025-10-12T18:25:47Z

Lots of fun! I beat it after a couple tries, honestly the only jarring issue was that I could never figure out how many decrees I had left to place. Controls and music and vibes were great. I think I was confused about the dwelling houses (name on the card) vs the barracks (named in the field card). Also hit the classic deckbuilding issue of too many types of buildings so you don't get the buildings you need, but every once in a while a reroll did save me. A good time I look forward to more! I played the latest version since I'm not able to rate anyways :)

Space Cleaner by Cahard 2025-10-12T17:50:41Z

That was a lot of fun! Good music, good art, and I enjoyed the vibes. It would be interesting to try out a more physics based movement system where you kept floating in one direction unless you actively braked -- seems like that would allow for more optimization of fuel usage. I also made it all the way to maxing out my stats but then I kinda wanted a final goal to reach for. Something like flying to another planet or something, but that's far outside a game jam scope. Nice work!
