LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Golfploration by Nicso 2022-10-04T03:57:39Z

I'll be honest. I didn't think I was gonna like this. Turns out I simply went to the "easteregg island" first and was left somewhat confused, but when I started going down the correct path, I'm happy to say I was quickly proven wrong. Still, the ten second timer didn't seem like an issue, when would I ever be in a situation where that timer would get even close to zero? Then I got to the part where you have to jump several islands to reach the ball, and I saw the number two hover over it. Pretty close call! That's not the only time you are forced to part ways with your ball for a longer time, but it was the most impactful, and I loved it. The fact that you had to shoot the ball in a specific way, then walk/jump your own path before being able to reunite with the ball, great stuff!

It was right at the end I started wondering, "Ok, but where is this going". The obvious answer was right around the corner, and I realised; "Wait a minute, is it going to tell me how many shots I took??" The number 70 made me quickly refresh the page, and now, after a couple more tries, I'm happy with 17.

Some relaxing music in the background for this is always nice. The graphics are alright, and even though you mentioned it worked better with a controller, and I can see why that would be the case, I ended up using keyboard, honestly works just fine. Again, loved the puzzle/platform elements. Very nicely done!

Parcel Problems. by Jacob Diaz 2022-10-03T18:20:46Z

I want to have a serious talk with the guy up the line sending all the random stuff I didn't need. Made my job very complicated!

No, I love the chaotic atmosphere. In such a messy environment, I love how you only need left and right mouse button to play. While moving items was a little awkward, that awkwardness didn't really feel out of place. It felt like fumbeling through all the mess in a stressful situation, and the heartbeat effect just added to all that.

I did have an issue with the visual effect. After a couple of restarts, it ended up blurring my screen to the point where I couldn't actually read the order I was supposed to package, and it was quite headache indusing to be honest. It did fade over time, sometimes I swear it faded back in... I believe I can understand why it's there, but I would have liked the game more if that effect just didn't exist, I think it was chaotic enough without it.

All in all it was pretty fun! I like the graphics, the picture of my family on the top shelf really kept my motivation up! I really like the simple controls and how everything is sort of tied together. (I had a fun "Ahhhhh!" moment when I realised the finished package had to be sent down the very same conveyor belt! Didn't know where to put it the first time I tried and got fired, but got it the second time! Sidenote; I never read instructions or tutorials, as of writing this I see you explained this in your description, that's on me...)

Now I'm rambling and I don't know how to wrap this up, so, in short, I ran into some issues with the blurry stuff and some items and boxes getting stuck, but I had fun!

Tool Packer by Krynxx 2022-10-03T17:42:36Z

It's really interesting to me how simple jobs like this can end up being fun! I thought I'd do a few packages then end up quitting, but I ended up doing quite a few, mostly because I wanted to see more tools on the shelves and how big the order whould get. Then it did get to a point where I had to focus up and pick up some speed, with only a few seconds remaining for the delivery. Do correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the difficulty stops increasing after a while? I must admit I did stop around $500 as I didn't notice new tools or larger orders appear, but still, I enjoyed working in that warehouse!

Some chill background music would of course allways be appreciated, but I didn't miss it too much, since the sound effects are nice on their own. Love the graphics, and the cursor feedback when hovering something interactable (I just love those little things!) Nice and smooth controls, and I very much appreciate the mouse sensetivity option! A nice little warehouse sim!

Void Well by Helzinko 2022-10-03T02:06:42Z

I must say, I really enjoyed this!

After writing that first line I went back and tried again, and ended up figuring out a trick to climb relatively easily, and while it ended up being somewhat samey because of that trick, I still really do like it! I personally can't say I've played or seen gameplay quite like it.

Love the aesthetics, the look and overall atmosphere of it was great. The first few times I tried it I didn't get very far, and I actually think I liked the sort of intense, dark-ish, mysterious music looming in the background. Sadly when I climbed without a worry it all turned less intense and more repetetive, so I stopped at 100m. Though it wasn't very fast (I played that run for a little over 10 minutes), it seems I could keep going forever.

That said, if there was an update that prevented me from tricking my way up, and rather have me climb in a way I'd think it was intended to be climbed, I'd for sure play it again! Like I said, I really, truly enjoyed the first couple times I played, so with that "loophole" changed, I'd say this game offers an interesting new twist on the vertical climbing platformer, with a nice gloom-like atmosphere, smooth controls and a kinda addicting need to climb just a little higher. Very nice!

(Sidenote, I've not mentioned the "trick" I used to climb so as to not spoil it for others. If you don't know what I'm talking about, do msg me, I'd be happy to let you know!)

Machine! by KITmani 2022-10-03T02:53:38Z

Ok this is pretty fun. The other word I'd use is probably frustrating, but I think that's only because I'm bad... I played it a few times, quite like the core concept. I think sound effects would have kept me playing quite a bit more. Also maybe a way of multigrabbing several boxes at the time, but maybe that's just me wanting a tool to help me, again because I'm bad, I don't know for sure, best I got was 32k... (Forgot to take a screenshot of it, pressed R too soon...)

So after writing that first paragraph I did go back to try again, mostly because I like all the different machines with their various recipes. I didn't do very good on that last run, a new recipe made the good ol' brain.exe freeze for a second too long. At this point I'm glad there's no cool machine sounds and/or more mechanics with the boxes, because I might play this quite a bit more... While me wanting to play more is technically a good thing, I also need sleep!

All in all, I like the idea, it has a simple, clean and nice look to it (Love the scribbles on the sides briefly explaining how the game works), though unfortunately missing some cool machine sounds. The game gets increasingly difficult with more and more complicated orders and recipes, but I did also experience getting some machines that simplified / sped up some processes too, which was nice, so again a really nice variance of machines and recipes. Enjoyed it!

@linus-lindberg You legend. Never used itch.io before. Thank you for the heads up!

LD53 — Delivery

Deliver or Die by Imphenzia 2023-05-01T14:11:06Z

Started assigning items to specific keys. Of course, when new items were introduced that conflicted with that system, I had to improvise, but that stressed moment of having to improvise was probably the most fun. Great graphics, nice music, interesting concept. If there were more items I'd probably have kept going for...too long...

Ended up spamming my keybord to see what would happen. It broke, but I got to 104.

Pineapple Police by tomrijnbeek 2023-05-01T14:27:37Z

I have now experienced turn based pacman, and it was pretty fun, so thank you!

I really like the graphics. As for the gameplay, I like it, but I'm not sure how far it's possible to get. I got to 17, at which point the police had me cornered, and a delivery due in three turns was on the other side of the map. I had two options. Either go straight to the delivery, which meant getting caught, or run away safely, which meant failing to deliver on time. Either way, the customer would never recieve their pineapple pizza. Truly a sad moment.

Bord by guin36 2023-05-01T13:37:42Z

The ending got me. Took me a few tries. Every time I failed and saw the bord fall down again it sort of felt like "Getting over it". Pain. Pretty satisfying to catch it again before it could reach the bottom.

Note; I had to restart once because the bord managed to lodge itself in a corner so I couldn't pick it up.

DeliverZ by Plokie 2023-05-01T14:53:24Z

Alright. This is fun. However, I have one problem, and it's the truck. To me it doesn't feel good to control. If it was more fun to drive, I would 100% deliver all of these packages. I started going by foot only, but the map is too big for that, so the truck is needed, just needs some more responsive controls. Also the zombies are extremely strong being able to push me around while driving.

That's a lot of criticism, but here's the thing. I absolutely love how the packages are not only meant for delivery. Roadkill on zombies is fun, package-kill is gold.

Update; I got a kill by extracting a package from the van. I honestly love it.

Joy by Neollok 2023-05-01T14:33:55Z

@Snotax, @tompudding, @teadrinker, @belea Thank you very much! Yeah, one of the bigger things I'd change would be the pacing, i.e. faster recharge and movement.

@linus-lindberg Thank you! And very nice! Was hoping some people would find it!

@fabian-denter @glove @real-human-1000 Thank you all so much!

Also @glove I agree. The bit with grief didn't really go as planned, but I ran out of time and quickly put something together, poor time management from my part X) Same goes for a couple of relatively frustrating challenges unfortunately, but I absolutely learned from those mistakes. Thanks!

Joy by Neollok 2023-05-02T00:17:12Z

@jcmonkey Like "Getting over it"? I was thinking about taking the same mechanic, tweaking it a bit, dropping the theme and making it even more like a "Getting over it" type of game.

I'm very sorry the phone pole took your joy, not my intention! X)

Box Rush by Phyrocast 2023-05-01T13:52:14Z

Nice animations on the character! The game would be fine if I could set the sensitivity, and the mouse would lock to the screen. Right now I'm practicing moving the mouse at snail speeds and containing it within the screen area. So, with better mouse controls, this could be pretty fun. I sent a package, but I can't press the first button again to get a new box to fill.
