@silas-reinagel the link works now, thanks for letting me know it was bugged
Fun game, great level design and menus. The mechanics are nice, it is quite nice to play! Well played !
great entry! i wasn't expecting the twist. the movement felt a little unwieldy, but in a fun way. it felt really good once you reached top speed and the feeling of "oh please just make this jump" really added to the vibes.
unfortunately it seems that the retry button on i think the 4th level doesn't work, so i had to stop playing there. i don't think i can reach the end without making any mistakes 🤪 but i'll check back later in case it's fixed!
I really like how sharp the controls are. At first I was sad you didn't have time to implement the animation of wolf killing sheep when it catches up to you, but then I saw how dark (yet incredibly awesome and cinematic) the cutscene at the end of level is and boy, I don't think I could take seeing this cute animal dying every time I mess up. Great job!
Cool and easy concept. Level Design is also good. Each level adds some new features, so there are new challenges each level. Graphics, style and font play really well together :)
I think the wolf is kind of bugged, sometimes he went invisible or he wasn't seen at all and I lost the level. But sometimes I had more time at one point of the level where as in another try he would have already caught me.
After dying in the 3rd level, the Game froze for me.
Very cool game, loved the rolling part (especially when bumping into obstacles). The change in mood at night was very cool :). Sadly, in third level, after failing multiple times I was left to my own devices :D I was standing in one spot for a really long time, nothing happened. Went all the way back to the speed up, retried a few times and only during night the wolf found me. After I failed again, the game crashed - buttons didn't work anymore (the ones you get after you fail).
@zachsbutt bug fixed, you can now retry on the 4th level
Awesome entry! I loved the art and the narrations. The physics were quite wonky at times but it is quite fun to play. Reminds me a lot of sonic the hedgehog.
I found myself a bit frustrated at the start, I feel the game didn't give me enough leeway to practice the controls before thrusting the wolf at me. I was a bit put off of the rolling aspect due to how helpless it makes you. I think the joy of this kind of platformer comes from a mastery of timing and control, which in concept is a great fit with something chasing you, but it kind of falls apart for people with less patience and a slower reaction time / casual attitude. I appreciate the effort of building the levels with rolling in mind, I know that sort of thing takes effort.
A really nice game! That sheep rolling downhill definitely gave me giggles. Unfortunately, I've found this to be the major gameplay issue as well: it's really frustrating to lose control over your character in a fast-paced platforming game! I think something like a button that puts the sheep on its feet and stops rolling would be a game-changer, or anything else to fix that frustration. Another small detail: I wish the "restart" button would be available via keyboard - it's a bit frustrating as well to reach the mouse every time you want to restart.
Anyways, fun game, nice idea, good job!
This was really creative and I got mad sonic vibes! The wolf killing the sheep in the dark with the blood splatter was a really cool effect. The hard part was bumping against a wall and rolling slowly backwards, but the quick game loop made it not so painful
What an awesome game! It really feels good when you can roll really fast and keep the momentum. One thing I'm kinda pissed with is you roll with quite a momentum when hitting a wall, and the hard to stop roll momentum doesn't help with this. Despite all of that, this is a great game with a nice twist. Well done!
It took a while to get the hang of but I was enjoying it. Rolling down a hill felt great, reminded me of how good it felt to go fast in the old Sonic games. Ultimately I stopped playing because I got too frustrated, felt like I couldn't afford to make even a single mistake, or else I'd have to do the whole level again.
Perhaps shorter levels or checkpoints might've helped? Once I'd already proven I could beat part of a level over and over, I didn't want to have to keep doing it just to get to the bit that I'd got stuck on.
I think you nailed the creepy mood though, great contrast with how cute and bright the rest of the game is!
Really cool idea with an interesting movement system! I did find myself getting caught on stuff quite often though I would just chalk that up to a learning curve. Even without a song playing in the background of the gameplay the mood of the game was great! Y'all captured the transition from the bright and upbeat green hills to the gritty terror of a wolf so well! Fantastic work guys1
I got somewhat frustrated by being forced into a roll when colliding with a wall while jumping. Apart from that it felt great! One tricky bit with fast moving 2d platformers is that you can not see what is coming up, so inevitably crash into any obstacle the first time around, and then have to memorize the course in order to be able to beat it. Maybe zooming out when you get faster could reduce that issue.
I really liked the graphics and the parallax effect with the background was really cool! I also really liked the idea of the rolling mechanic as well! It was quite difficult too, but that just be me being bad... I liked the sound effect for walking and the background nature noise added another layer of polish to the game! I also liked the use of different paths in level 2!
The restart button should maybe be tied to the keyboard because the mouse isn't really used in gameplay, that's a nit pick though, so not a big deal at all! An animation of the wolf eating the sheep would have been nice too, because it sometimes felt as though I could've outrun the wolf but they were able to capture me when it didn't look as though I was touching them.
Overall, the graphics are amazing and I enjoyed playing!
Looks lovely with the multi-layer parallax and very cute sheep. The rolling mechanic is very good. Challenging gameplay  A nice entry.
Its a good entry, need some tries to get used to these meany walls, game is pretty cool, good job.
I loved your concept and it was great fun once I got the hang of it. I enjoyed the speed of the game but because I kept hitting walls (and then rolling all the way back) there were some very frustrating and slow sections. The rolling back is a good idea for a penalty, but I thought it was implemented too harshly as it frequently meant insta death. It honestly made it a bit too frustrating as sometimes it felt like I was being punished for the level design/game mechanic rather than my own skill. With a bit of tweaking it would really add to the sense of urgency as I would need to make up for lost time instead of give up in frustration. The ending of each level was awesome and I liked the style and narration too. Pretty much the only things to improve were the severity of the hit-a-wall penalty, and maybe adding a key to restart the game instead of having to use the mouse to click a button. Overall, great submission!
It was a very fun mechanic you guys also introduced very well! The scenes with the Wolf really surprised me and added a lot to the mood. In the 4th level, I didn't figure out how to keep my momentum to get up the round "Sonic hill" and keeping the momentum from the very beginning wasn't something I had patience for. The Wolf also didn't chase me there, so I would have had to walk back slowly everytime. I think the absence of music fits in the game, but not when it takes several tries like in level 3 for me.
I like the concept of the game. I think I encountered a bug where the wolf just stops chasing me, and I don't know why.
Cool rolling mechanics, although a bit frustrating when hitting a wall and bouncing back / losing control but maybe this is part of the theme. The menu music is really good, reminds me of Portico Quartet.
Please let us restart the game via keyboard.
Awesome graphics and really cute sheep :) Rolling back is a bit hard to dell with, since there is no way to stop. I think if a player is rolling, pressing space should stop the sheep. That way there would be a way to save the sheep even if the player messed up for a moment. Anyway, great job with the game!
Rolling physics are very jank and surprisingly punishing. In particular in the second level it seems like there is a jump that you can only make if you are rolling, so you really have to memorize where it is. Love the idea though and for the most part it is quite fun
Pretty nice game, I like the art style and the movement is quite unique, but a bit awkward to control at times.
