I cant seem to figure out how you are supposed to interact with the game. So far, only thing I was able to do is to push the two towers around with my body to aim at the enemies. But it doesnt feel like thats the intended way to interact with the game. Do you have any further instructions?
@raxah you just need to get close to the object and click on it. You can do it with levers to buy new towers.
I think this game has so much potential! But unfortunately the controls are really unintuitive and not explained.
Some suggestions to improve the control issue: * Try keyboard only, or mouse only with automatic grabbing of objects? * Add a highlight to the object when it's ready to pickup. * Small tutorial or in-game text
Nice submission though, the atmosphere is great.
i really would've liked some explanation for the controlls. took me a while to find out how to move...
@christian-zommerfelds thank you for feedback, i didn't know about the problem with controls because for me it looked ok. By the way, do the rules allow me to change it now?
Looks nice, unfortunately I didn't really understand what to do
For people who came to the comment section to figure out how to play/what is going on - I think I eventually worked it out:
- Hold Space to move (towards you cursor) - Left click on an object to pick it up when you are close - Right click to put it down - There are automatic guns and rocket launchers and torches that you can position around the room - Bad guys come out from the red lights at the side of the room - The grey cogs should be put in the shute
To the creator - this is a cool game, but you really need to convey what you're meant to do/how to do it! It took me a good while to figure out how to do anything, and I nearly just rage quit after dying 5 times in a row not knowing how to do anything, or what I was meant to do.
Once I eventually figured it out: it's pretty cool! I liked the light mechanic where most things are dark, and the fact there are hidden guns in the dark that you can use. Pretty neat game idea and genuinely had a lot of fun playing it
(edit: looks like you can also buy more guns/resources using the switches in exchange for 5 cogs)
Probably not I'd say, since it's not really a bug, but you can maybe link a separate v2 version of your game and mention it in the description.
I updated the description, so now you can understand controls better

Love the sfx, the animations look really great too.
Great job! Great sfx!
A good idea that needs some work on its controls. I think an in game guide to the controls is needed even if it was just copy pasted from what you had in the description. An indication on an object when you can pick it up would be very helpful. I would have appreciated a grace period of 30 seconds or so before the enemies really start coming in. It took me quite a few tries before I had a grasp of what to do to not instantly die. The art, sounds, and effects worked together well. I enjoyed the game once I got the hang of it.
Really unique tower defense! The controls aren't very intuitive but mechanically everything comes together in an interesting way. I love how you used light, and how there are secrets to find on the map.

Looks like a very promising game! A detailed tutorial would definitely be useful. I managed to reposition the cannons, create another one, and defend myself until the bad guys started coming from both directions. I'd say the game idea is wonderful but needs polishing. Good job anyways!
An interesting premise, but tough to figure out the controls fast enough to do anything.

It took me a minute to understand how the controls worked but once I did I had a lot of fun! I liked the concept of printing turrets and placing them down and thought the visuals worked very well! Great job!
the visuals are awesome. too bad its really hard to understand what needs to be done

I liked this game! The lighting added a moody feel, and I really liked that towers didn't automatically aim towards enemies, I never saw that in a tower defense game before. The simple mechanic of picking up drops from enemies to return to base was also refreshing.
The controls were also strange to me, particularly because this is a control scheme I'd never encountered before. It's not bad, it's just hard to pick up because I don't have experience to pull from. When I saw the game, I envisioned a standard WASD to move, and maybe a GUI to buy towers from. The result however was space to move towards mouse, which I'd never heard of, and both mouse buttons to click/place, which I have heard of, just not in a tower defense game. Even though the control scheme might be better for this game, most people have different mental images of what the game should feel like.
Honestly though, once I learned the control scheme (which wasn't too hard after reading your instructions a few times), and learned how to interact with the world, the game played nicely. It felt satisfying to create a solid defense. I lasted until the fast robots came in, I didn't have enough towers to hold them off. I don't think I could have gotten enough towers, since the movement speed was so slow. The movement speed in particular was a killer for me. There were plenty of gears around for me to build a favorable defense, but I simply didn't have the movement speed to collect them. I'd recommend plain doubling the movement speed, it would probably make the game easier a good bit, at least until stronger enemies appear. Alternatively, if you want to keep the movement speed where it is for moody reasons, I'd recommend allowing the player to hold several gears at a time. Or just make it so that when you step on a gear, it adds it to your gear store. I might've played for a whole lot longer if the darn movement speed didn't bug me so much.
Regardless! I really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work, please participate in Ludum Dare 51! See you around!

This game could really benefit of some kind of tutorial, it is not clear what to do at first and that makes it a bit frustrating, I'm sorry. The graphics are great though!
Also, please use .zip, instead of .rar, not everyone has WinRar on their system :-)

As people mentioned before, this game could really use a tutorial. The graphics are great though.
