It would be more interesting if it has shooter elements, but anyways good job
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD57 → Interstellar Dragon - Into the depths... of space!

Love the graphics on this one!
The dragon was so adorable, really liked the ship movement, and the fact the he used the handles while moving. Also the music was cute
The game itself is very standard, so it's hard to find a reason to play this one too much
But again, really like the details - in fact it would be nice if the dragon would move one stick forwards or backwards for up/down movement, and the other for left/right - currently he some to move the sticks only for one axis
Very chill game with the relaxing music. This kind of game really needs a leaderboard, but I understand that could be challenging to implement for a game jam.
A very cool and relaxing little game, feels nice to control, and really nice art! Death sound jumpscared me a bit but made me laugh.
Really cute art! Does the game have any validation that there is a clear path? It sort of seemed like it usually had a way to go without running into anything (until later in the game). It felt deliberate, but could have been pure randomness.
Thanks everyone for the feedback and compliments! This one is my first game jam (decided to do compo as it's just me and for a challenge) and I had a great time working on it. I realise I can reply to people via mentions so I'll do that now for the feedback:
@atsh Thanks for the compliment! Yeah I like the idea of having the two sticks be for left/right and up/down respectively, the way I did it currently is as I wanted both moving and non-moving animations to get decent time in the spotlight, but I agree that having each stick do a different thing would be cool.
@tad-i-guess Thanks for the compliment! For the death sound, I was wondering if it was a bit loud (not overly so but a bit louder than the other game things), I decided to keep it as it's like "Oh no!!" and will draw attention to let you know that the game/round is over.
@zirrrus Thanks for the compliment! For the question, technically there's no validation, but I did test this to make sure that the density is decently low at the start and then increases further into the game/round. I also spawn the asteroids with a decent amount of variation in position and velocity, so gaps should very likely open up as the asteroids move past each other. As it's an arcade-style game I thought this good since it's a bit of RNG, but should be decently fair too via testing.
@k1n @dnp Thanks for the compliments! I also agree with both bits of feedback here, they'd be good additions and I'll take notes.
@sicosiber Thanks for the compliment!
For a first game jam game you've outdone yourself! It's a simple concept but you polished everything very well. Nice visuals, fun mechanics, fluid gameplay, and music as well. Nice work!
Such an adorable dragon! Also, I’ve always loved space-themed games =)
You can't shoot asteroids... Too bad.
@dingbat @torte478 Thanks for the compliments!
@gbegreg Thanks for the feedback! I shall take notes on this for the future
The movement felt good, especially enhanced by the sprite animations and how all the visuals fit together well. Music fit well too.
For this sort of infinite dodging game I think more spread out obstacles might be nice, and varying their movement more could also help. I think I wanted more to manage or more things to have to think about and try for. As is it felt like either I had openings to avoid damage or I didn't.
Congrats on making the best death sequence I have seen all game jam, it has a pause, audio feedback, and leads to a game over. For future game jams I highly recommend making a web build so more people can play your game. Fitting the tutorial into the home screen was a nice touch.
The high health gives the player time to decide how many obstacles to carve through while trying to survive, which I feel adds to the strategy of going for a high score. Looking forward to seeing what games you make in the future.
@jovialknoll Thanks for the compliments! I agree that the spawning of the obstacles could be more fine-tuned for the future
@nbumgardner Thanks for the compliments! Yeah I had a web build effectively ready, but for some reason it was showing the font as just black rectangles, even though I did the same with the font (at least pretty sure) as I have in other things (where it worked), so I had to just have the download version which was a bit of a shame
A very polished minigame, well done guys!.
Simple and easy to learn game. I wish there were more ways to deal with asteroids than just dodging.
I really love the cute graphics. However, gameplay suffers from being a bit too simplistic, the only thing you can do is dodge constantly. Compare to other endless-runner games where you have coins to collect, power-ups to help you avoid obstacles and so on. Looking at your profile I see this is your first game jam game which is a really impressive achievement, give yourself a clap for that.
So cool that you can just relax and play this with one hand while enjoying the 2D art and that adorable ship. Congrats on finishing your first compo game, and you even made music! Looking forward to seeing some of your progress in future.
@eugenik @kr4ft3r Thanks for the compliments!
@bloodbane @outish Thanks for the compliments and feedback! I'll note these as ideas for improving in future
Like art style of main character, but i don't like asteroids spawn, after 100k point there is to much of them, so you cannot dodge them further.
