Is it bug? Didn't lose any cat souls, when cthulhu get me
This game is funky, I like its vibe
I really liked the graphics - the combination of the 3d walls and the 2d sprites worked really well for me!
@leoatopos That is a feature. You only lose cat souls you collected in the current level, the souls from the previous levels are safe from Cthulhu.
Hi, well done! This was very satisfying to play, the movement system felt well and I enjoyed collecting the cats, multiple levels gave it a nice level of variety, the music worked well too!
If you were to continue to work on this game I would say that my main feedback is to add some indication how you get to a new level, was it time based? Was it score based? I wasn't sure.
Had a good time playing it!
Very simple, yet you do feel captivated, and the music is cool!
@joanna-skorupa Thanks. That's a good idea. You get to the next level by catching all the cats in a level.
Neat game, liked the music, and the graphics worked well. Cthulhu is kind of hard to dodge, but the fact that you only lose 1 (?) soul per hit makes it manageable.
One thing I'd love is an indicator showing you where the closest cat is, even if only toward the end of a level - especially once you're a few levels in and have a massive maze to search for a handful of cats. Fortunately they mostly tended to accrete in the corners of the maze over time, but there were still one or two right up in the middle that were a pain to find.
Overall, enjoyable and holds together well. Well done!
So fun to play. Also liked the sound effects. I guess you made them by yourself. I also made the harvesting sunflower sounds by my own mouth :D It is fun to do things like that. good job mate!
@avareii Thanks. Cthulhu takes 3 souls back (but only those you picked in the current level so it might even take 0). Good idea about the indicator, it's already on my future improvements list.
@hayricakir Thanks. Yeah, I recorded the sound effects (if you can call them that) with my phone.
I had a fun time playing this game! I enjoyed the cat skateboarder animations, the way they would float around made them feel like ghosts while I was going after their souls
I love the wild and crazy design in this one! :) You're the grim reaper on a skateboard, chasing a bunch of scooter-riding cats through the Win95 Maze Screensaver, Pac-Man style! All while running for your life from Cthulhu, of course. :)
Cool 3D level with 2D sprites, and the lighting is nice too. I like how the levels slowly expand, but allow you to get used to the mechanics in a smaller space first. The character animations are fun, and the cat AI is enjoyable without being too evasive and difficult. Nice work getting everything implemented cleanly and finishing the jam!
Such a cool game! Some feedback I've got:
- I think the music and sound effects are awesome, although: I could not really understand what he said - The graphics are good, but somehow the ctuthluhu, the cats, the grim reaper and the maze did not really fit well together I think. Individually I like all of them, but put together they look out of place. A bit like having steak with a glass of CocaCola in a fancy resteaurant. :-) - When capturing the last soul, the game immediately moves on. The game could take a view seconds there to give the player some headspace to prepare for the next level.
@wouter52 Thanks.
What Harvey says is: "WON'T HURT.", "WHY?" and "THAT WILL DO." using his special voice like Death from the Discworld series, which might explain why it's hard to understand by mere mortals.
A few seconds to contemplate your achievement after completing a level is a great idea.
Cool game :) I loved that cat souls followed the reaper like tiny ghosts and that they had scooters when running away. The cthulhu moving through walls was a cool idea. The music was nice. It was a little weird that the maze seemed 3d while the characters 2d, I only noticed that in like lvl 3. Other than that, well done.
The map is in 3d, looks super cool. I noticed cats and reaper are both on skateboards lol, explained why they are moving at same speed.
Thanks for letting us know what he says it was driving me nuts, heh.
FUn pac-alike! The cats are super cute on their scooters!
I love this idea, 2D sprites in a 3D world. With easy to use mechanics and a nice backing track :D, nice work!
Wow it is actually more challenging than first meets the eye. Strong Pac Man vibes and that's no bad thing. I liked the 3d elements and the art style. It's solid
Song is pretty funky, but I'm calling Cthulu if you get anywhere near my cats!
Cool game. The movement feels fluid and I love the music. The level switching is a bit jarring. I didn't even realise it was a level switch until I read some of the other comments. I initially though it was some game over restart. The cats tended to stack up, and its super loud when you pick up ten at once.
I keep seeing your avatar on all the games I have been rating recently so thought I would check your game out. Its interesting how this often seems to happen in this event.
Cute game, I got to almost 100. Does it end?
Loved the vibes! Usually mazelikes a'la Pac-Man have camera further back so you can see more or the entire playfield at once. The game would be a lot less chaotic and skill based if that were case. Can't hate a grim reaper on a skateboard though, nice job!
Cool game!
What I liked: * Music was really good! * Gameplay was pretty fun, and it took me a while to figure out the trick to avoiding cthulu * Atmosphere/art is nice with the 3d maze
Issues I had: * Would be nice to get an indication for the number of cats left in the level (especially on the last level I spent about 2 minutes looking for the last cat and I started thinking there might be a bug) * I had a bug on the first level, the first time I played - after catching all the cats, the next level didn't start (I was stuck in an empty maze).
@Ido Thanks. Sure it ends, you only needed a few more.
Cool and funny game! I agree with some other that there should be some feedback when you finish a level. Right now we don't know if we won or lost because the game doesn't tell. Nice entry anyway!
Nice tight controls, groovy tunes, nice job on this :)
I get this glaring, hard-to-see error when I load up the game. Untitled.png
Groovy music though btw!
@tweekstudios Thanks. Never mind that, it's just a warning.
Worth it just for the cats of scooters
Fun game! Never thought I'd be stealing cat souls. I felt like crusader on a mission to steal cat souls by the end of this.
Music was great really set the tone and vibe for me. Nice pacing. I liked the ghosts following you.
Nice little game. Good graphics and audio, fun gameplay, and a really annoying antagonist! Good work!
Dang those cats are fast :) I enjoyed chasing cats. It made me feel like I was the Ghost from pacman.
Pretty cool! Feels like pac-man in some ways. I would have liked the cats to be bigger and look a bit better. I enjoyed running away from the cthulu, but eventually I got into a pattern that meant I was very safe. Would have been cool to have something like the super pill from pac-man
Fun game! Loved the cats :)
Got to hunt down cats riding scooters as death on a skateboard whilst Cthulhu is chasing me this game really speaks to me. Had some decent challenge as Cthulhu was very hard to avoid until I made a game plan. I like the decisions made for the visuals and the music was great. Was nice and fun with great mood well done.
This game was amazing and extremely addicting. I loved the music also!
You should have a very good reaction speed to play this game!
Nice game, had fun getting all 99 souls. The reaper on a skateboard concept really got me laughing :joy:
While 3D maze and 2D sprites to look a bit weird, strange enough they fit quite well.
My only suggestion would be to add some indication for the cats, so I am not wandering aimlessly through the maze. I think it would be enough for the last ~5 (or last ~10%) of level cats. As they are constantly moving and hunting down the last ones takes some time. An extension to this could be a minimap, but the minimap only gets filled as you move along the maze. And you could see cats in the minimap only if you went over the place before. Providing a guide and as well a visual indication in case you have some space unexplored.
@bloodycoin Thanks. An cat indicator was actually planned, but there just wasn't enough time to implement it during the jam. Minimap with a fog of war is a great idea, I'll use it if I ever decide to expand this game.
