I like the elements of strategy! It felt complicated at first but I started to get the hang of it as I went on.

Very cool concept - I love the puzzle aspect of the game, and the interaction of the different movement mechanics was interesting. It took me a while to realize that the purple and orange plants alternated direction each step - when I first saw the arrow I thought that they would continue until they hit an edge before changing. The animation of the times changing was very satisfying, especially when it was green plant going over it. I did end up a bit stuck with too many grey squares at the end of the game and never got another green plant, but that is just how it goes sometimes. Overall a great job, congrats on your first game jam!

interesting mechanic. it took me a second to understand that the diagonally moving plants would alternate directions. you might want to opt-out of the audio category if the game has no sound

It looks very nice for a very first game, this is impressive! The gameplay seems really interesting. I wanted to try it but I can't get the controls to work, I tried clicking and some keys but I get no reaction :(

I used gdevelop5 too :D

@togo-sepultraut We were rushing to get the game out in time (We didn't realize there was an extra hour for submitting XD) So we checked that box and then realized we should had let it out. I don't know if we can change that now? Thank you so much for playing!

Nice work on this one, and great job finishing your first jam game! The gameplay reminds me a bit of Plants vs Zombies, and I really like the turn-based strategy loop you've designed. The overall concept is very cool, and similar to real-world crop rotations to keep the soil nutrient-dense. Welcome to the Ludum Dare community, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next! :)

Congratulations on your first jam game!

The graphics are pretty cute and the overall idea is great! As already mentioned, some music would be nice to make the game even rounder.

Also, for your (hopefully) next game, you could try to add the instructions into the game, I actually opened two windows, one for the game itself and one for the instructions.

But hey, it´s a nice game and it´s great game for the first one you submitted!

A very clever idea, I liked it a lot. Having to manage the health of the different tiles and the evolution of the plants was quite complex, but really fun.

I also liked the graphics, the plants were super cute and I love the little animations. At first I had a bit of trouble following what was going on, since the plants moved instantly when pressing the end turn button. I think it would have been a bit easier to follow if the movement was animated so you could see them moving, or if they moved one by one with a slight pause in between. That's a nitpick though, I'm really impressed with your first game, and I hope to see you around!

Good work on your first game! I think the puzzle is fun and has great potential. Need to play a bit to get the hang of it, as there are a lot of rules although in the end it is quite simple. Very cute plants, good job!

Pretty cool idea that fits the theme very well. I only feedback I have is to have the crop effect in game but after a couple of tries its quite easy to remember, green heals the rest damages the crop. Good job!

very nice to see another game made on gdevelop! i think your idea was very original, and the mechanic is good. for your first game, it already show nice aspects of game design, and you should totally continue in that way!

i liked plants sprites, but was not a fan of the tiles, it made the screen a bit messy.

i hope i can play your next game during the next LD and see how you progress until then!

Nice little puzzler you guys made, I think it's a really strong effort for 1st timers! Managed to get 196. Looking forward to your future entries!

ynis 2023-01-17 17:36

@appoxgames Thank you for playing our game and for leaving feedback! I agree that the effects are not obvious enough from the start, next time I think we'll try to make a tutorial or create visual effects to better emphasize the effects.

ynis 2023-01-17 17:45

@amarokczukay Haha, I agree on the tiles making it too messy! Nice to see someone else using Gdevelop. Thank you for your feedback!

ynis 2023-01-17 17:46

@sgtweirdo 196 points is not bad at all! As far as I know, the most points anyones gotten this far is about 235.
