Wow, the art and gameplay are amazing, can't really give you any critique, it's just that good

Directions unclear. Played for about 5min and didn't seem like i was doing anything but buying resources and putting another tile down

This would be a great board game, one of the most tightly designed games I've played this jam. The manual was mostly find, I was just a little confused about adjacent buildings helping you build stuff.

Very interesting, I loved the idea, and would love to get more into the game and strategy. It's a bit obtuse though.

Well done.

This was actually something similar that a friend of mine wanted to do. He's a huge fan of board games. I love the art and thought that went into this. And thank you for putting lots a time into the manual!

I quite like the concept, and on a high level it is well executed. The art for this game looks awesome, and I think that it works well with the theme. I did have some trouble figuring out how the tiles affected each other, it took me a couple of times reading through the rules to figure it out. Once I did I found it to be an interesting game to play as a single player. This is definitely a game that benefits from having someone else sit down and play it with you, doing so brought out a whole challenging side of the game because of having to compete for the tiles and the pressure of not being able to just accumulate money.

I would have liked to have a way to go back to the menu or at least view the manual from the gameplay screen. I was playing in fullscreen and had to alt-f4 the game and restart it. While having sound, especially some kind of background track, would have been nice playing it single player I did not notice it when playing multiplayer. I did see a little layering issue when winning the game where the tiles were on top of the text telling me the game was over.

Overall a great game, impressive work for a 48 hour game! This feels like a game that I could keep coming back to over and over as a board game with a bit more polish behind it. Well designed, fun to play, great job!

Very nice and polished experience for the most part. Obviously sounds would have went a long way to making it feel more interesting to play. The tutorial was a great touch and I could tell a lot of time went into making it. It was maybe a bit lengthy though. A lot of mechanics to explain. I was hoping it would be a bit more fun that it was unfortunately though. Maybe it was the balance or something, but I felt a lot of time I was just sitting for many turns to buy gems, and my first game I screwed myself by not leaving enough space around a tile to get enough workers for the victory tile. Also, the win screen is a bit broken. Annotation 2019-10-09 215835.png Still very nice job. A lot of work here for 48 hours.

Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, the game's definitely meant for multiplayer. I added single-player for ease of play, but the balance's completely broken in that case. The game in its current state is probably best balanced around a 3-player game. I wanted to alter the game parameters based on player count, but time was running out.

As expected, the main criticism appears to be around the obtuse (and just too numerous) mechanics, and the poor documentation coming with them. Apologies for this, I ended up spending so much time on game design and visuals (in large part, just figuring out how to get all the information on-screen without it being a COMPLETE mess) that at some point I just had to commit and go all-in on programming. This also led to unfortunate "bugs" like not being able to return to menu (escape *should* have worked, like everywhere else) and the above layering error.

Fun fact about this: you can actually build new districts over existing ones, effectively replacing them. The game will behave like the tile was previously empty. That's just mentioned in passing in one of the later pages of the manual, however. Real easy to miss.

Unfortunately, due to sudden family matters I won't be able to fix these for a while.

The graphics are spectacular for 48h!

At first I jumped right in, without bothering with the manual. Boy was I lost  Even after trying to comprehend the manual, I had a hard time understanding how the mechanics work.

Overall a very well executed and splendid looking game   that I sadly don't have the patience for right now
