this is good take on a classic game like doodle jump. the bounce sound effect ties in the feel of the game nicely but gets a little irritating when the player gets stuck between two platforms
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Happy Blast!

Audio seemed to work for me just fine.
This feels soo 90s with the music, colours and type of gameplay. Like some kind of weird shareware game. Don't know if that was intentional, but it's a funny aesthetic :)
Not much to say about this except that I haven't seen a dribbling character in these types of games. Bouncing between the floor and ceiling is interesting and changes the feel a bit.
@leviathon That's a good point, thanks for the feedback. To be honest, the platform mechanic doesn't work very well in the translation from 2D to 3D. I have some ideas in mind, but will have to come up with something better.
@pdotjpg That is hilarious! Thank you for the feedback! I grew up on 90s shareware and definitely take that as a compliment. I'm definitely inspired by 90s music; and that's more on purpose.
The music combined with the smile on the face brought me great joy.
It was funny, though the controls are very sensitive (but you can get used to it), I also noticed that you can fall down without consequences.
needed a deathscreen / some way to restart if you fall off. music was pretty good.
Audio worked for me (Firefox on Linux). The collision is a bit weird - if I hit a platform from the side, I can cheat my way up. All in all, a simple, yet decent game.
if i touch the edge of the platform there will be kind of bug( i will suddenly jump up for a relatively long distance) probably you can fix it in the future. Anyway, the game is fun~
Bouncing on the platforms felt good, and thy are very forgiving with how you impact them, always pushing up even when I sort of clip the underside. The parts where there appeared to be an impassable arrangement of platforms was a bit irritating , as was having to restart the browser each time I fell down. Some kind of game over or at least restart button would have been nice.
The overall design is great fun, the ball and platforms perfectly match the soundtrack and sound effects (which were working for me in the web build by the way). Good luck with game jams in the future, this is an excellent start. Well done!
This is such a happy game! Smiley face, bouncing up, what could be happier than that! Thanks for making me smile :) Feedback for improvement: polish up the collisions. Nice entry!
Hey don't worry the most important thing is that you tried and you learned and had a fun experience, I like the bouncing and boosting in the edge of the platforms, Adding checkpoints or a lose state when falling and working on the colors would be great feedback from my side, Nice entry man well done
I like the simple premise, in addition to a really smiley character :) Getting stuck between two platforms is a bit of a pain, so a little room for improvement there - but overall a very happy game!
The music works fine, but is there a way to lose? Because I fell and nothing happened, had to refresh the page to play again. :/
The game instantly reminds of doodle jump or similar games. So the good news is the audio was working fine for me but at some point I got stuck between to platforms
Don't worry - Overall you did a good job, especially for only 1 person :)
Nice to have: If I move out of the screen it would be nice to reappear on the other side.
Audio worked for me too. At some point it was more fun to jump by side-hitting platforms, than regular jumps:D Don't worry about game state, whole jam thing is just about journey than destiantion
Good start into game development, but there is a lot of room for improvement. What I am missing most is a score, like to see how high you get.
Nice job with the game. The music was pretty cool. I loved when the ball was between two platforms and bounce back and forth. It was fun to watch and hear with the sfx. I was able to bounce up by hitting the sides of the platforms. You might want to use some ray casting to detect whether the ball hit the side or the top of the platform.
