I loved this game, the theme of using a spoon/fork instead of a staff I found brilliant, the game just needs to be more polished but other than that, I enjoyed it a lot.

Pretty simple game that is done quite well. I enjoyed the artstyle and the boss fight at the end was pretty neat. I wish it had more to do with the theme of summoning, but I guess summoning a lot of spoons can count :p Well done!
simple complete game I love it. great concept!
Really fun simple little game! Enjoyed the cheat mode after beating the boss, really fun time!
Cheat mode achieved! Nice game. I had to play through it a few times to get the hang of the controls. This would definitely be better on a gamepad. Boss took a couple of times to beat. Once i got cheat mode though the game and the boss were easy, but i still had fun playing it with the cheat mode on. When the game finishes there is no way to get to the menu or to shut it down. Fun game, good job.
I did not like that I only hit an enemy right in front of me one out of six spoons. You are firing 6 spoons/sec, I want to feel that power, not be hamstrung because I spray spoons up and down. Adding a leveling system with increased spoon firing speed is the play here. In addition to just firing spoons straight so I can actually hit targets. Additionally, getting contraIII style shot modifiers would also make this more interesting.
When the boss is at the top it's kind of pointless, I think the portals raining fire down should move side to side as well, other than that great game!
I am glad to spread justice against the evil fork society, spoons prevail! Silly fun, more spoon mechanics would be epic!
Very interesting idea! I like that they used cutlery as the main characters.
A very humorous take on the theme, just reading the description of your game made me laugh. Gameplay was good, although I think that the number of enemies ramped up a bit quickly, I was still trying to get a handle on the controls and there were forks flying in from four or five enemies. Dodging the thrown forks felt very difficult, especially as I was trying to line up my own attacks.
The animations and audio design were great, especially for the boss fights portals. I did think that dodging the boss was a bit easy, nothing ever hit the lower floor, so I just had to wait each cycle out while the boss was flying and then hit when it was on my level. The music was great.
Overall a great game jam game, well done!
.
Sweet and short game. Even though I'm team fork, I did enjoy the experience. Good job!
Short, sweet, simple. Great job!
The controls threw me off for a second but once I got used to them, the game was pretty easy. It reminds me of Metal Slug. :D
Hilarious concept. The music is really good, I love the use of silverwear samples haha.
The gameplay is a little straightforward, and it's pretty short overall, but it was fun regardless. Great job!
Also you can kill the boss before the fight starts :p
This is a well-put together entry with an amusing concept. I appreciate that you are able to press and hold to shoot (a basic thing I know, but there are quite a few shooters out there that do not do this!) and I really like the background art with all the faint utensils. The movement feels a bit janky, especially when it comes time to jump - it feels like it's a bit delayed and difficult to get a handle on the precise movement you want to make. I also think the firing was a bit weird - you almost always miss the enemies until you learn that you can crouch and shoot, then it becomes almost a breeze. At the start though, the enemies always seem to get you first since they crowd around the ground and throw forks constantly.
The music is really well done - too bad the menu music doesn't loop as I think it's a good blend of gentle high bells and that buzzy synth bass. The game music is quite interesting - I like the guitar chords, feels almost jazzy but a little bit off, and still sits well in the background without being too distracting. It definitely is not the sound I would expect with this kind of concept, but I think it still works pretty well to create a more distinct experience. My main issue with the sound is that the sfx are too loud, especially with all the noise from the enemies throwing their forks.
Surprisingly, the boss battle was way easier than the main gameplay, mostly because the boss is very easy to hit and the attacks happen on platforms where you don't really need to be on unless you really want to hit the boss up high instead of waiting for the Flying Forkman to spawn next to the player. I don't really mind - an easier boss for an LDJam is probably better than having one that's just unreasonably difficult. Still, I think the boss could have at least attacked by firing some projectiles at the player after spawning in a different part of the arena.
Overall, I liked what I played - there's a lot of room for the game to have more depth to it in the main part of the gameplay. Good job and nice ending! (Quick note: I just tried to press "p" for cheat mode after focusing back in on the window after writing this review, but nothing happened.)
Short and simple but tremendously adorable. I love the little animation for firing, with the portals opening up in front of you rapid-fire. One little glitch I noticed: you can absolutely damage the boss while he's on screen, but before you've moved far enough to the right to trigger the fight. (Relatedly: also love the effect for the raining forks!)
Also: I don't say this often enough, but props to a fellow Godot dev!
I enjoyed this! It helped me out soooooooooooo much when I realized I could hold the "shoot" button down rather than hammer it. Also I couldn't get the cheat mode button to work, but I did enjoy playing this and the concept is hilarious.
And I agree with Random-storykeeper - the fact that the boss was easy was actually REALLY refreshing and nice!
Fun game lol
The boss fight is a bit boring and the movement controls need improvement, but the cool story, decent graphics, and audio, along with some humor and mood, help balance it out. Focusing on improving the boss encounter and movement controls could make the game more enjoyable overall.
The portals opening up and throwing the forks looked great. Once I found out there was no downside, I basically taped down the shoot button
Good fun stuff!sweet graphics and a really fun take on the theme! All round Great Work!
Oh no! I couldn't play your game... I was hoping for an HTML version! Let me know if you upload an HTML and I will give it a try, the game looks really fun from what I can see from the screenshots!
