Sorry, but I couldn't find how to control the game? Is there some controls that do something?
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD52 → Haunted Harvest 3

@tero-pulkkinen WASD should control the character, space should harvest crops. Were you stuck at the introduction (with text on the screen)? Spacebar progresses that but on retrospect that is not very clear.
Hope that helps!
The web version of this wouldn't load for me. It just hangs on the unity load screen. The game sprites in the image look great though.
Even though the art style is amazing and the change of soundtrack when the scarecrow gets near is perfect, i must admit that the controls are a bit confusing and the scarecrow is more frustrating than scary
My god I wasn't expecting a stealth Horror. I really enjoyed the scarecrow hunting you, although it gave me multiple heart attacks, ahaha!
Thanks for this game!
Nice concept, but game have little problems with UI scaling.
Music and graphics are awesome and I loved the concept, I found that the scarecrow spawned close to the house and raced over immediately every round, so I died a lot. But it's fun and I managed to get 3 crops in one go at one point, so I'm pleased with that!
What a quick scarecrow! hahaha
Nice game!
@tero-pulkkinen you move with WASD and hold space to harvest crops.
Could not buy vision or intelligence which made the game unbeatable
Game has potential. if you implement game balance, felt like only can harvest three wheats for round 1 then round 2 only obtain one wheat. and round 3, zero. it quite a challenge. you can only out run him round 1. but for round 2 impossible.
@achilnos Was the web build embedded in the Ludum Dare page not working for you? It does not work for me using Firefox, but I also made a page on itch.io (in the links) that works for me.
@caldane The vision and intelligence are sequential unlocks, you need to get speed -> vision -> intelligence. If you did get speed vision should have unlocked.
@pusheeneiro I am sorry to hear that, I thought I had locked down the UI. Do you know what resolution you were running it at, or can you explain what scaled wrong?
@smilewood In full-screen web version on 3440x1440, I don't see down part of the screen.
@pusheeneiro Ah, interesting. I designed everything around a 16:9 aspect, and I thought that I had it restricted to not run at any other resolution. Apparently going full-screen in the web build overrides that. I am not sure that I know a way to fix that without redoing all of the UI, sorry.
Since you have a larger monitor then I do, could you try running the download version? I am curious if it has the same issues.
@smilewood Thanks, I've now given it a go.
Like the general scary feel from the scarecrow chasing you and how the music changes when he's close as it really makes you feel on edge.
I did have a few problem however as the game wouldn't give me money for wheat and so I couldn't progress the game. Then on the third night the scarecrow would suddenly get super speed and instantly catch me ending the game.
Look and audio were on point though so I feel like I would enjoy this game alot without the above issue.
@achilnos Thats... new. And a bug. It looks like the scarecrow was not getting the animation reapplied for some reason when exiting the shop, and the animation does a lot to slow it down. I think that I have that fixed, I am going to update the web builds with the fix.
As for money, at the start of the game you should get 1 coin for every 8 collected wheat each night. There is an upgrade to improve that price, but we did not have enough time to make sure that those prices were any good. I just tested it and I seem to be making money as intended.
Thanks for giving it a try and for the feedback!
Fun idea, and great work on the tutorial/exposition! I love this take on the Harvest theme, and it's pretty intense trying to sneak through the field and grab crops before the scarecrow discovers you. I love the "you got got by the scarecrow" gameover message, haha. Nice work on the jam! :)
@smilewood Glad the feedback was helpful. I'll give it another go this evening after work
Ethans friend here... nice job my dude! a few things i think might help... I would have the farmer move just a bit faster than the scarecrow because you have to stop moving in order to farm, or allow farming while moving. Im sure youre already working on it but an expanded game space would be cool too. This game really does have a lot of potential! would be cool to have different levels of game play as well where you have to farm a certain amount of crops to get to the next level and theres other "enemys" like literal crows chasing you or something to that extent. Fun stuff, man, keep it up! Also your brother killed it with the soundtrack!
Edit: after playing a while i see youve put a lot of thought into some of those specs. Took me a while to realize you can go "home" though, Id include that in instructions.
Nice game! I agree with the others - nice visuals, sounds and atmosphere, but it's pretty much impossible to progress as the scarecrow gets quick on the second / third night, and even before that it seems a bit too fast / unavoidable. It would probably be nice to have some mechanics to distract it / slow it down.
Otherwise it's a cool concept!
Funny concept! The scarecrow is very well executed, the hops with the particles sells him as a baddie perfectly. Nice job!
It was confusing at first because I didn't know that you had to *hold* space to harvest. Also, it seems a bit to difficult, as I only got 11 crops until several attempts :-P Other than that nice polished entry and nice take on the theme!
