I think the game needs more challenge.

I think the game needs more challenge.
The art is cute :). The game is too easy, even if at -350 it's impossible to pass the sharks without taking a damage :/. The game is fun overall, good job :)
@lorwon Thank you! And yes @scienitive I wish I could have made it more difficult and a bit longer, if time allowed.
The game looks fucking amazing imo, the hitboxes of the fishes seem a bit too large but that really is the only thing I can think of as not positive, well done :)
I got hit once by a small fish :P Not sure why some of the very big fish move and others don't. I wasn't sure why moving up / down was needed until I found the big fishes and need to move up a bit. I found myself holding down all the time most of the time.
I really liked the art. especially the sea weed which you have on the side of the narrowing path. Oh and the chicken thing is really cute too :D
@phealsout Thank you!! And yes I should have made the hitboxes smaller, especially on the Sharks because sometimes they can get stuck in the wall. And @noel-widmer Thank you!! I agree that you mainly just have to hold down most of the time, and you only really have to move up in certain areas with a lot of fish. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice game. I especially like the music! I was able to reache the treasure without taking any damage :)
Nice little game. The fish don't really look scary, so I wasn't sure if I was allowed to touch them or not. Making them look scary or angry is a good of showing the player that they are enemies that you are not allowed to touch. The graphics are simple, but they work. Good job!
@zimny11 @sheepolution Thank you!
Nicely done, looks professional and plays well.
Congratulations on the project, I will make some observations when playing your project, 1 strong point your character he is very cute and charismatic, 2 the enemies are so nice that I want to touch them, I will make suggestions 1 put a layer in front with low opacity blue to be kind of embarrassed like the bottom of the sea, instead of the player holding down clicking and when he starts to climb, keep working on this project and evolve, soon he will reap good results, a big hug, and I await your evaluations regarding my game.
@aquasheep3000 @etrealjunior Thanks for the suggestions!
cute game. I like the smiling fishes
Cool game, very charming and unusual pixel art style. The music is great!
If you're looking to expand it, I think having a way to restore lives would be neat, especially in longer levels. I would definitely play more. Great work, congratulations! :trophy:
It's nice to see variation in the fish! I like how the music makes it sound like you are marching into the depths! The duck looks quite cute with its scuba gear. I first tried it without taking any damage! It's actually a good thing to make your game jam games easy, though it may have been a little too easy, but at least it was not to hard! Maybe adding some fish that go up would work good.
I like the music, and the way how the game shows a obvious change of difficulty: first very easy but eventually shows some difficulty. But I find that some sharks chase me but the others do not. I don't know is this a bug or just meant to be like this.
Simple, yet ~~somewhat effective~~ neat.
Some remarks: - The screen is stretched in a horizontal direction rather than vertical. Since the gameplay is vertical, to me it would have made more sense to have the aspect ratio the other way. Was this intentional? (Perhaps to shore up the difficulty?) - I really like how, on the one hand, the minimalist look of the art is both very effective and ~~somewhat~~ cute, but I can also see how it could've been produced very quickly by someone (more) experienced (than I am). - Music is nice. - Are the sharks _meant_ to mostly not move? - Just 'Game Over' when I found the treasure chest was a little disappointment. (But at least there was a chest and it didn't just stop at the bottom.)
_EDIT_: Made the language a little less negative (see strike-throughs), accentuate the positive!
@cavedens @pijamar @ratrat44 @youk @remco Thank you so much for your thoughts! Even though the gameplay is vertical, I made the aspect ratio horizontal so that it would fit to the ratio of most screens, as well as to hide whatever obstacle is coming up so that it's more of a surprise when you reach it.
The sharks actually have their own AI different to the fish (The fishes' AI being to just keep swimming back and forth until they hit a wall.) The sharks were actually meant to slowly creep towards to player until they get hit, then quickly swim back down. However, something weird occurred with their hitboxes (sometimes they get stuck in a wall) which is what caused their movement to be wonky. You get the 'Game Over' screen (albeit with a "winning sound") when you reach the treasure chest at the end, only because I didn't have enough time to make a 'You Won!' screen, so I can fully understand if that was a little disappointing. Still, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
Was a short, sweet, and absolutely adorable game! The smiles on the fish made them deceptively approachable :P I think I would have liked some alternative movements/behaviors in the fish, e.g., swimming in circles, floating up and down a bit while swimming left and right, etc. I ran into the same issue mentioned above where the sharks got stuck in the wall, so maybe that added to the previous concern about variety in fish behaviors. :( All that said, it's really great work despite its simplicity, and I'd love to see more of our birdy friend. :D
@meep Thank you so much! :)

This was just downright adorable. The premise was nice and simple, which allowed me to appreciate the art and the little things (like the bubbles coming out of the snorkel) a lot more. ^.^ Nice job, and gratz on the compo submission! :ok_hand:
@coleslaughter Thank you so much for the feedback, and for playing the game on stream as well! I really appreciate it!
