Cool attempt, bro. Didn't samurai have curved swords though?
The feeling of swinging is kind of cute, like my mother sweeping broom under the table.
Honestly a really fun game, was a bit disappointed you couldn't dash through enemies, but it wasn't a huge dealbreaker. The final boss having shorter down times but less HP would've probably made the fight more intense, also maybe better tells for which attack he's about to pull off. Great game!
Really fun game, the boss had a massive difficulty spike, but it was still fun to keep fighting him whenever I died.
Amazing! I really like the back and forth sword action, and the fact that you can swap arrows out of the air. Very fun.
I quite enjoyed that. Being able to dash through enemies mentioned before would have been fun. The enemy variety was pretty good as well, I found myself targeting specific types first to reduce the amount of damage I'd take. Good overall game, well done!
The slowdown mechanic is really cool, and it helps you (or at least better players than me) really plan out your attack plan. My only complaint is that sword sound was kinda grating. Since it's the thing you hear the most in the game, you really want to get that sound right. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.
Cool game. Felt fund to dash around a spearman and see him attack where I just was.
I liked the slow down mechanic- and the fact that the music slowed down too was cool!
That was good, I really liked the focus mechanic, it would have been much too hard without it I think.
The sword sound was probably the wrong choice though, sounds more like I'm swinging around a lightsaber or something. I liked the music overall, and slowing with the focus was really good.
I liked this :). The art was cool and swinging the sword felt very purposeful since it would not go back. It felt a little hard to dodge stuff at times. Maybe a force roll back would have been interesting.
Feels like Sekiro + Hotline Miami, which is a really cool combo. The sword swing is super satisfying. Enemy tells are also pretty good (boss was quite well designed, imo). The slowdown is a cool idea, but felt kinda janky – in particular, the sword swing feels super unresponsive (animation ends quicker than cooldown timer).
If you kept working on this, you could end up with a really exciting, high skill ceiling game.
Fun game : ) I loved the slowing down mechanic, getting more 'focused' it was really cool. The varied enemies were pretty cool though I would have liked to see the ranged enemies have a projectile with more contrast to the ground. The boss battle was super fun and took me a few tries to finally beat.
A simple idea that's well executed, given the time constraints.
The time slowdown effect upon taking damage is a novel way of automatically scaling the difficulty as the player makes mistakes, but the way it's currently implemented makes the game feel a bit unresponsive, especially when you're near death.
The visuals are generally pretty good, but I think some sort of walk animation, or at least a footsteps sound effect, would have helped to make the character feel less like he was floating.
My main complaint with the game is the lack of a hitpoint bar for the boss, or at least some kind of feedback to make it clear that I'm making progress as I hit him. He has quite a lot of hitpoints and by the end I was starting to wonder if I was even hurting him.
One little detail I liked was the ability to strike arrows out of the air, but I was disappointed at not being able to do the same to bullets.
✔️ The slow motion when you got hit was a nice touch.
✔️ The levels were nice and short, meaning you didn't need to replay much.
✔️ Good variety of enemies.
➖ Maybe have some indication when some of the stronger enemies were going to switch attacks.
You nailed the "samurai fight" gameplay! I like the aesthetic as well, simple but charming visuals.
