LD46 — Keep it alive

Space Ship E.V.E by silkworm_sweatshop 2020-04-24T00:35:30Z

bruh that music is SOOO good. The camera controls very weird and is pretty finicky in the browser but the music! the concept is good but the asteroids are a bit much. Other then that the game is very cool.

Monster Love by Endurion 2020-04-24T00:04:33Z

Cool game! It is very hard though i retried level 3 like 10 times. I have no idea how to deal with the nests :D. The swatter feels a little small to me but appart from that great execution on the concept and nice level design.

Simon DJ by JanGamesDev 2020-04-23T01:01:47Z

This is a very nice concept! pretty fun to play. It was a bit hard to tell which button i was supposed to push or what slider i had to slide but i think that might be because i'm not playing it in vr :( . I felt like the notes didn't really fit the beat as a would expect from a rythm game and it felt a little slow that's but very fixable. Other than that super cool! nice job!

@endurion @denis123 @jangamesdev @silkworm-sweatshop @patatenouille @technogoth you guys warm my heart thank you so much :) really giving me motivation to keep working on this iw ould really like to at least put some textures on the walls haha and add the story in!

One Step Darker by thijs9907 2020-04-23T01:18:43Z

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with everyone here. movement is a bit awkward and slow but graphics, animations and atmosphere are really cool. I really like the music it reminds me of the theme song of gwyn Lord of cinder from dark souls. cool game nice puzzles! great job

EDO by Jozef 2020-04-24T00:14:09Z

Very cool game! concept and executions were pretty good! fun and challenging! art and music were very good too. The sound for the tentacle grab is top notch paired with the animation it feels really good!

Elementrees by Mathieu Semin 2020-04-23T00:37:42Z

Very fun to play! super interesting concept. One of my only gripes is that the mouse disapears under the trees and the enemies and often lost it and couldnt shoot straight anymore. Music was very very good but did not fit the game style very well and as someone said above the font is a bit hard to read but all of those are some very fixeable issue. All in all splendid game!

Time is of the Essence by primed-pixel 2020-04-23T00:00:20Z

Nice concept! Surprisingly good execution given the time constraints! It feels a lot like wario ware and because of that i was expecting the games to be a little on the shorter side. Like Simon says is one pattern to complete and then snake you need to pickup way too many apples to complete. Art was also pretty good. all around solid game good job bro!

The Priest and the Bandits by TheDestoryer 2020-04-23T00:14:54Z

Control scheme was very interesting and actually is was actually pretty fun to move around. I thought it was a bit frustrating that the camera was locked on the priest instead of the thief because the priest moves so slow. Collisions with the environment were also very restrictive and a bit frustrating. all around pretty fun to play nice job !

Monstrous Affection by PatateNouille 2020-04-23T23:52:00Z

This is really good, graphics are amazing! very fun concept. I like the physicality of it because it gets so much more immersive when you have to physically put the items in the machines instead of boring menus. That being said, The controls are a little awkward like when you try to mine something and the focus keeps changing between everything near the player and also the character feels a bit slippery. It also got a bit tedious putting the items in the machine cause getting on top of them was long and the controls weren't that precise. Then i realise you can stack as many rocks as you want on your head and that made it better. But you got a crazy amount of content for a jam game! Just when i thought i finished it, it turns out it was all just a tutorial level and theres another level. Second level i couldn't finish because even when i fed the monster he kept eating the steaks but the food bar never went up. Anyway great job super cool game :p

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Fate of the Dice by Joror 2024-10-08T16:59:29Z

absolutely amazing for a jam game! great strategical depth, tutorial was well done (and needed so thank you for that!) art is pretty good and sound is decent, it's just a whole package! I think as far a constructive criticism the only nitpick i have is that i would've prefered dice to not share so many moves but it really is just a nitpick. good job :D

Silk & Snare by MartensCedric 2024-10-08T16:12:46Z

The web building is a very interesting and intuitive mechanic! I bet it was quite the challenge to program but it's very well done. It took me a couple times of dying randomly to notice i had a food meter. It also took me another couple tries to notice that you didn't need to stay on the flies to eat them, making the difficulty so much harder than it needed to be hahaha. It's a farely well executed concept but i would love to see it expanded a bit as it is a bit barebones at the moment but quite fun all in all. good job :D!

Slime Store Simulator 2024 by gamesplusjames 2024-10-08T00:09:23Z

I'm super impressed by how much you were able to do in so little time. The only downside i find is that there is really no challenge as you can just wait for more custommers. Game looks great!

Enter the mines by ownedstuff 2024-10-17T20:35:20Z

@ale Hey! thanks for the in depth feedback it's very appreciated! These are all very valid points. We had to rush the level design to get something playable in before the deadline so that's why there's not many landmarks i placed one or two in the level with the hope that the rails do a good enough job as a landmark by themselves.

For the items you should have been able to pick them up by holding down left mouse button but it might be a bug with the ldjam player? i had mouse issues when playing on it. They are spawned at random in the map so you probably just didn't find the purple ones but they should all work.

So for the battery life i totally get it, it does run out pretty fast. It was supposed to be like you have to manage your battery conservatively and not keep it open near the cart or just flick it at times. So yeah maybe the tuning is off, you get 2 minutes worth of battery for a 5 minute level. But you also get three days to fill the quota so if you can't make it in one day it's not the end of the game. We also had in mind that you could buy a better flashlight later in the game but didn't get to it so yeah it would have made sense to buff the only one you get in this version.

BTW i've been spending last week trying to add multiplayer to this thing and networking code's been kicking my butt but it worksEnterTheMinesMultiplayer.gif

Critters, Conjure, Cannonade! by PureGarlic 2024-10-08T16:37:27Z

this feels like an old flash game from back then it's pretty good! would be very easy to expand upon and turn it into something great! I think as far as constructive criticism, gameplay needs a bit more clarity, like what critters have what effects and intuitive understanding of what combinations would give what results but all in all it's pretty. Good job :D

Luca and the Candle Flies by greymouth 2024-10-09T21:20:05Z

Best game i've played of the jam so far hands down in terms of cohesion of the whole package! To me, everything about this works, the charming graphics, the light mechanics integrated with the puzzle design, story is introduced quickly and seemlessly and reinforces the core gameplay. It's very short and sweet but it's a gamejam that's expected, the important is the content that's there is tighly focused and the pacing is absolutely excelent. Very well done!

Abyssflier by v1ru6 2024-10-08T17:15:01Z

Ok so the swam of mobs looks really cool! it reminds me a lot of the machines from the matrix. A couple of problems arose when playing, first when the swarm is very far, it doesn't render in which makes it really hard to tell if anything is actually happening, next the gun feels very awkward the bullets sometimes just don't appear, it also feels to me like the concept of killing a whole swarm really calls for a full automatic firing mode instead of semi-auto. Movement feels a bit slow for the size of the arena and the speed at which you have to get to the rods to destroy the swarms. It seems like a shame to me that the swarms seem to share a health pool where when they get hit by the bullet they all go away at the same time. It detracts from the feeling of swarm that otherwise is very well executed. all in all it's a little undercooked but i think it has potential good job :D

Papufel Energy Inc. by Cafearatus 2024-10-08T18:07:28Z

the song is good!

Coven of Critters by JamieOK 2024-10-17T21:24:18Z

Hey that was a lot of fun! I had an issue where my camera would constantly rotate in random directions probably because of mild stick drift on my controller. I've never noticed the stick drifting in any other game so maybe adding tiny deadzones for controller would help? Didn't stop me from completing the game though.

constructive criticism (nitpicks): Everything in this game "works" for me, as a jam game this is pretty rare so big ups for that.

I think the visuals are very charming at first but get a bit bland towards the end as it is very samey and flat (specifically the environment, characters are cute as hell). I think maybe working with different shapes a bit more would give it a lot more interest. You did that at the beginning with the pillars they stand out more than the flat bocks we get later on in the main portion.

Gameplaywise it is very good. Mechanics are introduced one at a time with their specific little puzzle challenge it's all very smooth. the only downside of that is that the game is very short. The only movement specific thing that i would change is making it so that charging the big jump doesn't stop you right away, like maybe do a little slide while you charge Mario64 style, it would just help the movement flow a little better.

but those are very small issues and that's it really! Good job :D

Apparatus by evindor 2024-10-08T18:20:11Z

This is a very mechanically interesting game, music and art are also good. Only thing holding it back for me is the lack of progression, you get thrown into it way too fast with only a single challenge that has to be repeated multiple times until you figure out something that works. The game would benefit greatly from having levels i think. all in all aboslutely solid submission! Good job :D

Terramunch by Valmontechno 2024-10-08T17:59:24Z

I think the game takes a bit too long to get to the good parts and interesting mechanics. Movement is a bit slow and it is pretty awkward trying to dig up where you oftentimes mistakenly eat the tiles directly besides you screwing you over. Graphics-wise, the guy is absolutely hilarious and enemy sprites are very charming. Good job :D

Mobile Group [Ballbam]: Together We're Strong by Tgnics 2024-10-09T21:34:14Z

Very cool concept that totally works in my mind. Of course being a jam game it's a bit barebones but you can totally see how adding a couple more features would easily get this to a very enjoyable state. It totally feels like it could have been one of those very successful early flash games from back then! The bird are too fast too early (in my opinion) they're very tough to hit and i think it leads to the difficulty curve being a bit too steep but nothing major. All in all this is pretty good so good job! :D

HARVESTED by Chronicpain 2024-10-08T17:46:53Z

The game gives Portal vibes with the rundown lab aethetics, the werid gun and the whole arc of everything getting more sus and eventually breaking out of the lab environment. I think the overall experience is good but for me it is held back by a couple of pain points.

Movement is a bit slow, i don't feel the need for a run mechanic i was basically running the whole time. The base gameplay feels kind of weird where it's just run around left click on shiny things and right click on the middle thing but it seems like distance doesn't really matter so you can just stand in the center of the room and just look around and click on things. IMO it's missing a bit of challenge or just a little something more to make it really interesting.

This is also probably personal preference but i think there's too much text where it kind of bogs down an already pretty slow paced game. I feel like if you want to pull of the "twist" where things get weird you kind of have to let it play out naturally in the game with a little more environmental story telling. "Show don't tell" and all that.

On the bright side, i did play the game to completion which i don't do for every game so big ups for that. The artstyle is absolutely solid and ambiance was also very good! great job :D
