Haha, this was devilishly cute! It was fast and easy just as a game for LD jam should be. Cool entry my friends :)

Reminds me time of armokgames and their fighting series. Good game! I would add some upgrades between levels tho.
Simple, cute, with some bouncy effects, it's just really fun to play!
Oo Aaaaaaa haha this was a fun play, nice job! (also, i fell off the map  maybe an invisible collision would help with that  )
This was a lot of fun! It has a great variety of enemy types for a game made in such a short time period. Impressive! It was very funny too. Love the grappling trident ahahha.
Congrats on a complete game (very bittersweet ending )! As for feedback, I understand you two were under a big time crunch (as are we all :cold_sweat:). I think more focus/refinement on the grappling mechanic would have increased the fun factor a lot, as I mostly just used regular attacks during my first playthrough. Second playthrough I only used grappling and it was quite enjoyable! Just to throw out some ideas: maybe add a level which forces the player to grapple enemies, or maybe add a visual effect on successful grapple hits to make them more satisfying.
Funny game, the audio was hilarious. The whiny adventurers
Graphics were also nice and very cute. Mechanics were ok, but sometimes I couldn't use the grappling trident when I should have... or maybe the wall was too far. Enemy AI was good, as they could pathfind their way around places and do different attacks.
Anyway, good game and story. I played it all the way through and had fun. Too bad the cat didn't actually help with the raids.
p.s. found your game because you liked our instagram post about Ludum Dare
Very cute graphics - still appreciated the cat even though they could not get blood soaked :D
The animation are very smooth and a nice touch to have the adventures indicate that they are about to attack - a dodge roll or similar to counter it would be a nice touch.
Overall a solid result! ( And bonus points for a fellow Godot-dev ;) )
@boxedmeatrevolution Thank you for the feedback! Ideally we would have like the grapple to go out and back in if it was too far to grapple but didn't get time :(
@tomssuli The audio was mainly just me making random noises so thank you xD We did stuggle a lot with making the mechanics feel smooth so that's definitely something we will try to improve next time! And awesome that you saw us through Insta!
@lucavazz Next time, blood soaked cat will be the first thing we add! xD Thank you for the feedback!
Excellent game! I could not figure out the grappling hook. I mean, I shot it a couple times, but it never seemed to shoot when I was trying to shoot it. But other than that, it was a fun game! Cute enemies, sound is better than you imply in the above text, most importantly cute cat! Not too hard, not too easy (pretty easy though :P ), quite well done!
@laaph Thank you! It may be that what you were firing at was out of range but we didn't get time to add an animation that would make it obvious that that was happening. Glad you appreciated the cat though! :P
That betrayal at the end! Did like the game and there was a good progression between the levels. Nice backround music would make the game even better (But, as you wrote, the whole audio thing was new to you guys). On another note, since you wrote that your last game in LD47 "failed" - this whole thing should be about learning and having a good time. And your game gave me a good time. So please have fun!
Pretty fun game! A few remarks: - The final text-screens would loop if I clicked, so I could loop through the closing (de-)briefing and the final screen. - The jumping felt a bit unpredictable. Sometimes the game wouldn't let me jump even though I had clearly been grounded. It seemed to be an issue with the way the game handled the checks to determine if the player could jump again after landing, as it felt similar to issues early iterations of my own platformer player controller. - The grappling hook didn't work reliably either. It would seemingly randomly shoot in a random direction for one or a couple of frames, sometimes connecting to a wall I didn't mean to hit at all.
Those are the more critical remarks I had. Otherwise "Halt" was cute in both the audio and visual aspect and the adventurer-killing itself felt surprisingly satisfying. You get (imaginary) bonus points for the cute cat. Congratulations on building your LD48 game!
@chuchugeralt I had fun writing the ending haha! Hopefully we manage to put some music in for next time as we haven't managed to get it in for any jam yet! Apologies, I may have worded it badly but I just meant we had decided to do a super simple game that we could really polish last time but "failed" at meeting that goal and made it far too complex for ourselves haha! Don't worry! We have lots of fun even if we make it super stressful for ourselves!
@sigill Thank you for the feedback! It's always good to hear what doesn't feel right! I think we will definitely be learning a lot from this one if we ever make a platformer again! Glad you felt satisfied by the deaths :P
Pretty cute game, I enjoyed it! Congrats!
This is a really interesting platformer/tower defense game. I wasnt quite sure what use the cat was from level 2 onwards and also some controls at the beginning of the game would have been cool.
Obviously your missing sound and apart from that your going to hell the game didnt convey the "Deeper and Deeper" theme to me that much.
I liked the funny story as well, so all in all goo effort.
@deadmanjw Thank you for the feedback!
Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to add instructions for controls so we put them in the description instead. As also explained in the description, we didn't get the chance to add the cat mechanic where he would have soaked up the blood and used it to heal you but that's a future endeavour! :P
We did have sound? May be a bug though so if there was definiely none, would be great to know what browser you were using etc in case it can be fixed! Thank you!
Originally, we had wanted to make the dungeons deeper so the idea was to stop the adventurers going "deeper and deeper" into the dungeon but with the size of the players and platforms, the levels would have been far too large so I had to settle on "slightly deeper than it is wide" xD
Thanks again for the feedback and do let us know about the sound in case it is a bug on our end :)
As promise, I finally had time to play your game on stream :) Here is a link to the correct place in the video: https://www.youtube.be/watch?v=Sx1MQ445u7k&t=12660s
What a super cool and cute game! I really enjoyed it until the end! Sometimes I had issue throwing the grapling hook, I don't know if It's me not understanding a part of the mechanic, my mouse eating my right click or an issue with the webgl version. I know webgl may sometimes be capricious with repeated mouse click on chrome.
Your story is really fun, the graphics are really nice and cute, and the difficulty progression is fair but still challenging! Congratulation, this was really enjoyable :smile_cat:
Neat and cute game. I wish the grappling hook had further range though, I think at Shrine 1 I would have liked to be able to take longer shortcuts by latching onto the overhang or ceiling or something.
@togis Wow thanks for playing on stream! Was very cool to see someone actually play especially seeing issues like with the grapple since it is very obvious to us how it works but clearly is a bit confusing for most people that have played! It's probably not your mouse but our maximum grapple distance which we now think we should maybe get rid of and just have no max distance.
Thank you for the feedback!
