It took me a second to get how it works, but I made it to the bottom and it broke my nail?! I enjoyed seeing what new thing would be discovered as I went deeper. Changing the music probably would have helped a lot... even just speeding it up as you got deeper. I liked the sections where you couldn't see the nail... I got scared maybe the timing would change.

Thanks @neonjeff  Speeding up the music is a great idea, I wish I had thought of it then!

How much unexpected fun just hammering a nail! Nice touch with the handdrawn graphics.

Best game ever!! ))) Hi score: 2021-04-26_164247.png

All the different background layers and scenes made me happy to spend 3 minutes repeatedly pressing the space bar. Great job!

blackopsben 2021-04-27 00:20

haha, wow! Breaking the nail is actually quite infuriating! lol! Well done!

dudeax 2021-04-27 04:44

Both relaxing, and incredibly frustrating. I really like the art style!

Great game! I reached the very center of the earth after seeing so many weird things on the way! I guess the Earth exploded? ahah  221.5 depth, maximum I suppose? That was fun! Congratulations :v:

THis game is very funny and I literally laugh out when I play it! THe hammer-in process looks interesting because you have to keep a good tempo and rhythm to nail it. Also the background is pretty funny, especially the first time I nail in the guy's house lol. GOod Job!

silkypantsdan 2021-04-27 23:09

Love the concept, and my feedback is similar to others as well. I wondered if it might be an idea to have a bonus if the player keeps a good tempo? i.e - get a good rhythm and it hits further, miss a beat, or go slow and it hits softer?

Awesome work all the same!

Great backgrounds, the parts where you don't see the hammer and nail are a bit stressful but otherwise very nice game.

Nice game and creative take on the theme. The art was really cute, I liked the variety of the backgrounds a lot, and the background music was relaxing. It's exactly what you claim, just hammering a really long nail. I think I accidentally destroyed the earth at the end though, but that was totally worth it. Nice job.

Nice game, just i think something is missing we don't really have a goal to reach maybe it's a problem for me :/ The idea to change background during progress is a good thing that make me want to see the following. Great job =)

Unique take on the theme, I like it! I enjoyed discovering the differing layers and seeing what was coming next. The main gameplay loop did get a bit stale after I while, but I'm sure there's some speed strategies I don't know about. Nice work!

guax 2021-04-30 02:22

I think something of a holding and letting go of the spacebar would've worked a bit better, but it's a fun take on the theme, and the art is pretty charming.

boxedmeatrevolution 2021-04-30 02:57

Took a while, but I figured out how to hit the nail without breaking it eventaully. It would have been a nice touch if something happened once you got to the center of the earth, but overall it was pretty fun seeing all of the art you put in.

I really loved the visual style of this game, the way the objects looked like paper cutouts and cast shadows on the background was really unique. I wish the hammer and nail were closer to the background so we could see the shadows they were casting more clearly, it would have really driven home the paper-cutout style! I also appreciated that you could time your hammer hits to the music to keep the nail from breaking, even if you couldn't see it

This game was really funny and interesting! :D I had a great time playing it. Everytime I was like, oh there is a house, I guess I am hitting a nail in the roof? Nope we go further, maybe we are repairing a table? Nope we go further. It continued like this for a while, and it was very amusing to me XD.

The game is about hitting a nail at the right time, but that was not much a challenge. For me the real game was seeing what we would come across next as we went further down. Everytime there was something interesting and new to see, and that made me want to continue. The ending was the perfect cherry on top, and I think you could not have done it better.

I dont have much feedback here to be honest. I think the game was perfect in what it tried to achieve. Amazingly done! :D

I made it to the core, which I assume is the end of the game, though at a depth of 222.0 it said I broke the nail. I assume that's the victory screen, though considering 'breaking the nail' is also a lose condition, I would've created a different screen for the win condition.

The music gets stale rather quickly, it would've been cool to add in more instruments the deeper you go; Either that or making the song longer than 4 measures. Initially I tried swinging the hammer in tune with the music, like some sort of rhythm game, but that's way too fast and the nail breaks.

I enjoyed the art a lot! The character in the house was a fun touch, along with the mermaids. The 3D model for the walls surrounding the core were nice too! The art is definitely the strongest part of the game.

The gameplay was more tedious than fun, but the variety in decorations as you move deeper made it enjoyable the whole way through. This is definitely a unique entry! Great work.

A neat little game, although sometimes pressing the space bar with the same rhythm creates slightly different results.

This was surprisingly addicting! 220 in 140s I assume that was the victory screen but I was left a little puzzled whether it really was or not. The backgrounds are a really smart way of conveying plot! The hammer sound got a little annoying after a while. Music was very bare but somehow fitting. One of the best use of the theme I've seen!

Hey this was fun! Played it with my whole family. My six year old daughter won:

Funny concept, hit's the theme 100%! Love the parallax effect and it's fun uncovering the different earth layers. Good job!
