This is super fun
Well done! The instruction popups were really nicely done and the game mechanic was fun too!
Very slick.
Couldn't get music to play (on Mac+Safari) but really enjoyed playing!
Nice! It was pretty intuitive to figure out. For some reason, I really love blackmold being the enemy. And the looping in a square to grow faster, and the bird were fun mechanics that made it richer. Very cool!
Thanks for the nice feedback so far!
@josh-roby but the other sound effects worked? I don't have a Mac, so I cannot test Safari myself, does the developer console show any errors?
Very cool idea, and very well executed.
It took me a few mins into the first playthrough to understand the rules, but once I did, I was hooked! I really loved this game mechanic, super unique - almost reminds me of board games rather than video games, but it's the kind of game that would be so tedious to play on a board, constantly counting up points
I'd personally prefer a tutorial popup or two, where perhaps you're shown how to defeat the black mold, rather than being told with the rules at the start. Interactive rules, rather than static text pages. I read them several times but it didn't make sense to me, yet playing was the ultimate was to learn.
It took me maybe five minutes to realise that you had to build ON TOP OF the enemy to defeat them, and then it reduced their defence points. Once I realised that, that's when it all clicked and I saw how genius this game was.
Fantastic job, I enjoyed my time with this game a lot!
Really cool idea, enjoyed playing it! Graphics is simple bot does its job. Sounds also are nice. Good job!
This is a very cool game. I love the game mechanic and the fungus-theme. It is fun to play, and I will play it again. The only downside may be, that it is very slow-paced.
This is an interesting boardgame, I enjoyed playing it :)
Balance wise, it feels like once you've got a few mushrooms up the economy becomes secondary, with number of cards available dictating tempo of the game. Maybe could have either a throttle on the amount of cash you get (no savings between turns, or mushrooms decay after a while and new ones need to be built) or some means to dump it into getting more actions (able to buy new draws from the deck, but at doubling costs each time, or something?)
I liked the mechanic of having to expose open sides to the enemy in order to attack, meaning that there's a balance that needs to be struck between connecting to the enemy and keeping yourself safe - but it can never be perfect because of the draw mechanic.
When further developed, I can also see some really pretty visuals coming out of this with animations of the mycelium spreading out fractally through the tile, combining to form mushrooms and overwhelming the enemy areas. Good work ^_^
Great game man! I really like the graphics and the music for this. The unique idea of this game mixed with the card mechanic makes this game stand out! Maybe could do with making a bit more difficult and have the bird play more of a role.
I really enjoyed playing it! It would have been neat if there was more features to spend the points on since they did accumulate a lot as the game went on.
Good job. I enjoyed playing this game. As others has mentioned it might need a balance tweak, but on the other hand I liked winning on first try :) And with further development I guess this would only be the first of many fights between shrooms. Music and sfx worked on my mac, but only with chrome. And I kind of liked the slow pace.
This was a fun and sort of relaxing game. I really enjoyed the art and music.
Interesting game. Rather easy though. And it feels a bit like the theme was added as a second thought.
Great relaxing board game, may be a bit easy, and I was expecting you can keep some unused cards for next hand.
Good game, nice mechanics.
Cool game! I didn't have enough time to enjoy all the game, so I saw the bird only once. What it makes? It is one of that games I will play after, and maybe many times :) very relaxing :)))
This is one of my absolute favorite games from this compo, I really like the game play, wish there was more depth to the game though, since I was winning overwhelmingly every time. Good work!
@evgeniya-zapolnova glad you enjoyed the game, the bird strikes down and eats a random tile. He only appears seldomly, because too many tiles would be destroyed otherwise.
The game was very relaxing and calm to play. Though initially I didn't fully understood what we had to do in the game, but eventually I kinda almost figured out how to play it. But the main thing I liked about the game was that even though I didn't fully understood how the game mechanics initially worked, I never felt bored. I think the art and calm music really made the atmosphere super cool and calm. As usually I rarely play turn based games, so I don't know much about the genre.
But either way, the playing experience was really soothing and fun. I wasn't able to dominate the land though and win the game, but still had a lot of fun. And considering that it was made in compo, it was super polished. A great entry! :)
Nice entry! The instructions were clear and the atmosphere nice. Right now it seems a bit random both in the enemy behavior and the cards allowed each time, relying "economy" and strategy to a second place. However I completely understand that this is a compo game and I respect the complexity / gameplay reached in this time and I would like to see it expanded ;-) Good job!
nice idea!
