Great game. I was hoping for more than 3 levels. The move meter probably could have been more obvious as it took me a minute to figure out why i was randomly getting killed. Overall great job. Give our game a try if you get the time. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic
I like the fast forward feature so I dont have to wait. the rotate planet feature also can come in quite handy. please give our game a try if you have the time. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic
haha, pretty basic, but for being made in 1.5 hours I guess it is what it is :) First Jam?
Haha, the prince art remonds me of my daughters book King Baby. Digging the art style for sure. Give our game a go if you have some time. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic
Digging it! Nice and to the point.
@xmatos Thanks for the comment. Theres actually a time limit that we implemented into the missions, but we didnt have enough time to fully play test and define proper timers for each of the missions. As a result, all missions were just set to no limit so that people would have something to do. A valid crit for sure. DLing your game now and Ill be sure to leave a comment :)
@meronsoda Much thanks man. Yep our recipe for this game was LibGDX, Tiled, and Box2d. We will have to check out Overlap2d for future jams. Thanks for the heads up on some of the things to fix. There have been a few bugs that we woudl have love to have done away with before the deadline, but such are the ways of the jam. I was the artist for the game and was getting my laughs from putting the various references in, so Im glad that you had time to notice and appreciate them too :)
@croze Thanks man, yeah the sounds are half of the fun haha. Unfortunately the music isnt working in the build for some reason but I cant get the guys to fix it up for a 1.1 fix yet :-/ The crashing when you hit people thing is really really weird. Maybe we can put some time in and put in some of the fixes and features we didnt get in before the deadline if the interest is high enough.
@wheffle Thanks for the play. Yeah youre exactly right about the padding on the tiles. Weve had to do this before on previous jams but it always ends up an afterthought. Just didnt have the time to go through all tiles and adjust before deadline. Interesting glitches with the food issue and gas gauge, those are new ones. Much appreciated.
Man those walking sounds are killing me, but a good game once I figured it out. Mushrooms Suck! :) maybe you can try our game if you get some time. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic
gave up after getting killed by those star dudes about 20 times. give our game a try if you get the chance. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic
Hah very cool. Simple and elegant. Music was quite nice as well. Give our game a chance if you get the time. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/belaruse-panic
@veilastrum Yeah, we didin't expand on the ball throwing directly within the game, instead option to put a blurb in the description and letting players work it out for themselves. Using the mouse button after throwing the ball, you could activate/deactivate the teleportation in a sense, allowing you to bounce the ball. The tiles covered in black "vines" retain the tile's effect on the ball, but do not allow teleportation to them.
We did discuss a checkpoint system but had some other items that we wanted to address before the submission deadline.
@kokonaught thanks! We posted a postmortem about our known miss on the checkpoints, it was discussed but didnt get implemented before time was up. As the artist I had a pretty good chunk of work to do, and to top it off, I had to bow out at 48 hours to go to work on Monday, so I had to pick my battles in that regard. I did intend to do more with the textures though and even add some animations, also I wanted to do more with lighting and make unique player sprites for left and right facing animations, but time didnt permit. All of your feedback is on point and well received. Glad you enjoid the game!
@kokonaughtoh, and the purple tiles are "sticky". They significantly impact slide and bounce physics on the teleball.
@saoi-games Thank you for trying our game and for your awesome review! Digging the stream!
It took me a minute to realize that the tiles were spikes and that the purple guys were "magnetic" but got it. I made it to a stage that seemed to have no exit after I killed all the enemies, though admittedly, I never bought any items. Maybe I needed one to get out of that hellish looking level?
I am a fan of this type of game, and this one ramps up quite quickly with a ton of fish spawning. Nice an chaotic. The music is definitely nice. Great single person entry.
I can see where you were trying to go with the vision. Some obvious bugs, key remains in my inventory after I die, and I dont know but I believe the downward attack doesnt actually reach outside of my hitbox perhaps? Ill admit I never found any ladders and was wantering around floor 1 for some time. Decent single person Jam attempt.
I actually had a good time with this one. The sounds are comical especially the first time I heard "Bang". Interesting mechanic, but one I was out of arms, I had a hard time. The dropkick is pretty powerful though.
Not a bad one. A couple of things though.. I can press 2 any time even though im not standing in front of the merchant and I get a message saying I shouldnt buy anything I already have. 2nd, the SMG is practically unusable. the slightest click and my ammo is nil! I wanted to try to eliminate everyone, but couldnt because of the SMG issue. Thanks for the game, please give ours a try :)
Decent ramp up but felt the power-ups were lacking. Overall a solid effort given the time you said you knocked it out in.
Was really getting into this and played it for some time. I was working on the Tree quest. Then when I was trying to figure out what to do with the milk, In the town, I clicked on the stone sculpture with no blue light, and the game crashed.. "Unable to find Graphics/Faces/Yoinker Face test" Ill give this another play through at some point. Please try out our game.
I didnt know what an Idle clicker was... and now I do. I guess it fits in the loop really well :) good music and nice sketch style art.
It was a bit of a tough one to sit through honestly. I think I figured out the ending based on the logo on the helmet, but I couldnt sit through it anymore. I do love the vector graphics.
I dont know if it was just me, but looking around with the mouse was really difficult because my mouse moves out of the html5 window and my character woudl stop turning. I was able to work around it by bringing up a menu and then moving back to loop it over, but it was nearly unplayable. Interestingly, after I clicked the keypad in the last room, everything started working. Good attempt!
Took me a bit to figure out what I was doing, but finally got it. Playing the web version had the sound get out of sync with the visual queues, however writing down the beats and the tones allowed me to get through it. Nice on the bass spanning the break/loop point. I also had to learn that I could change the height of the items with the left click after I dropped them. That wasnt in the instructions, and wasnt intuitive. We did a musically based game as well and Id be interested in what you think.
That fan...... Good game. Im not sure if there is an ending but I got through a few days of work. I like the multi use thing but it was killer when I highlighted a wrong word. argh! Needs undo :)
I was able to play, for some reason R to restart didnt work, but it seemed that refreshing my browser took me to where I left off. I got to a victory room with the QR code and got pretty excited that maybe there was something more.... Should have really done more with that. Not sure how it fit the overall theme, but a solid Jam entry.
Im guessing there is no end? I got to level 101 and had over 11000 coins. Once I figured out how the powerups worked, and with a bit of early luck, I became unstoppable.
Mad props!
I hope you try our game.
Took me a moment to realize I had a double jump, and there was some bug that allowed you to spam jump and rocket pretty high. Sound was good and reminded me of Slot machine tunes for some reason, but fit the feel of the game well.
Took me a bit to find the final ending gate, but I did clear the game.
I hope you give ours a try.
The end screen didn't quite fit, but if this was your first attempt at a Jam, nicely done. Some pointers for future jams (that I hope you participate in) Try to go with smaller sprites so that you can fit more on the screen. It was kind of hard to react to the stages because you had so little time to react, once you saw them. Overall, a decent first go.
I hope you give our game a try.
