You two are hecking brilliant! This was such a fantastic little game! The pixel art and music are so beautiful. The menacing feel you created in the beginning by revealing the devil... damn. I had to play the game again to find the secret room everyone was talking about in the comments. It made me LOL so hard! Very creative!
Wow, I just found a little gem. Your interpretation of the theme is fantastic! Very creative. I hope you continue working on this. And I just noticed this is your first LD. Well done! Your choice of the music and artwork was very fitting.
Pretty solid and smooth mechanics! I had fun! I got all my stats up to 100. Them piggies didn't stand a chance! 😆 I found that the dropped coins posed a greater threat since they blocked my shots! Perhaps bigger and more difficult enemies could spice things up.
Pretty solid game! It kinda reminds me of Into The Breach (made by FTL devs). You can really make this into a bigger game, I think you've got something good here! My only feedback is about the ending of the game, I got 100% Upload but still got a "Game Over" screen. I get what you're going for here. But perhaps the player should still be "Victorious" and rewarded, while the Unit/pilot dies on the battlefield at the end?
So they really do have fun in movies when they steer through densely packed asteroid belts! Haha Pretty cool idea and fun game. Held my breath a few times. There were a few times when one impact counted as 2 or 3 and killed my ship instantly when I had a 3 impact shield. Other than that, I had no other problems. Smooth piloting commander O7.
Your game is beautiful. Unforgiving, but that's life I guess. Very different interpretation of the theme. I just wrote a rather long-ish comment, but I don't think I'll be posting it. I'll just say instead that your game gave me a lot to think about. Thank you for this experience, truly.
Well done! I really enjoyed the game. Teleporting was fun! And the programmer art was cool haha 👍 While the game is simple, it felt pretty smooth and I was never confused by any of the mechanics. Keep it up and definitely enter the next LD!
This is a gem in LD44. Amazing art, sound... characters, everything! And it fits the theme so well! I honestly can't say anything bad about it, it's so polished. I hope you guys decide to make a longer game out of this universe with this art style, that would be awesome!
It's really impressive what you two managed to pull together in just 3 days. The mechanics were easy to pick up, however I didn't know I could move during combat scenes until I read your description. I noticed the monsters changed based on the tiles I were on (like sea monsters on water tiles). I don't know if I was just lucky or if that's built in. If so then that's a nice touch. I don't know if you made all of the art yourself since you opted out of the Graphics category, but it was nice regardless. Nice work! 😄
Oh my, this was great! I love the art, the humor... everything! Well done! All I can say is that I want more of this! P.S. I wanted to send a few icey bolts on Fred the Vampire's way at the end, haha!
I wish I had a Gameboy to run this on it, this is so cool! WebGL will do. It's amazing that you made this in 48 hours! Beautiful pixel art, music and story. And Ollo is such a lovely little kitty! :)
Space Munching Simulator 2019! Haha, this is great! Amazing visuals, it looks really polished. I had some minor framerate issues. I also ran out of things to munch on pretty quickly. The only remaining grey dots were pointing to tiny aliens, not enough to sustain yourself. I don't quite know what the purpose of the guns were, since I just munched on everything instead of shooting it, haha!
Unfortunately I couldn't get passed the 3rd level (with 2 souls). The first soul seems to be on a building with 2 platforms, but I can't jump on them, no collision. The nearby buildings seem to be too far from it as well. Am I missing something? Please let me know, since I'd like to continue playing.
The artwork is really nice, I like the little Shinigami Shina. :) I enjoyed the conversation between her and Enma and it was what kept me playing, to see more of their interaction. The combat mechanics could use a little improvement in my opinion. Being unable to move while attacking lead to a lot of damage by crows that could have been otherwise avoided.
This is really good use of the theme! The lying fireflies almost jebaited me, haha! I have one feedback. I feel like the game is about searching and finding the end before your candle melts away completely and yet I found myself dying to spikes a lot and never actually died by melting away. Perhaps the spikes shouldn't be instant death? Instead decreases your candle size. I feel like that would make the game more difficult, but fairer at the same time.
While the main mechanics of the game seem to be about survival and hunting, the bow and arrow mechanics are underwhelming. The audio needs to be balanced since I could barely hear it and the music was mostly coming out of my left speaker. I don't mind the graphics, I think it has a certain charm to it, but it certainly requires polish.
The pixel art has a certain charm to it, I really enjoyed looking at my little ship traveling through the ship. It does set the mood of the game. I feel like the music fits the game as well. The combat mechanics are... rough. If you happen to get too close to the purple enemies, they'll continually jump at you, without you really being able to do anything besides hitting them quickly before you lose too many coins. You got something nice here, just gotta polish it up, tweak a few things and fix some bugs.
