Fun little game, really like your art style

gamepopper 2020-10-06 19:02

Funny entry, not sure on how it fits the theme aside from working in a repetitive routine? The gameplay had a Paper Please type of feel, but with a lighter sense of humour.

nikolai-shkurkin 2020-10-06 19:13

Looks great and I appreciate the voice acting! Would be good if the first nog you verified was a guaranteed "good" with a confirmation from the narrator, and the second one was "bad" with a similar confirmation. I had to wait until I did all 6 before I got some feedback on what was right or wrong (the very first nog I got had slightly discolored box art and I wasn't sure what to do since I was still learning how everything worked). Also "there is an extreme amount of cream headed your way... don't worry about it" is hilarious. Thanks for the chuckle.

squidzilla 2020-10-06 19:20

A lovely ode to papers please, complete with Slavic voice acting! Wonderful gameplay, I now know the ingredients to Sweet Nun Nog by heart :') I went full corporate, laughed my posterior off. #THICC #TOOSALTY

ancient-pixel 2020-10-06 19:25

Haha, that was quite humorous! I think my game is the production side, and yours the quality control in the other room. Its good to see more people doing something in that direction. Bye for now, i have to play some golf!

mattc 2020-10-06 19:31

Awesome little game, reminded me a lot of Papers Please. Awesome theme with the eggnog, narration was super cool, 10/10.

Game got stuck after day 6, never found out how the CEO reacted to the :green_apple: eggnog.

blood-jackal23 2020-10-06 19:35

This is the best game I played in this jam thus far. Hope you add more to it

My only criticism is that I think it needs a better tutorial

But overall, very good job

pedrohph 2020-10-06 20:10

SOOOOOOO FUN! I laughed with each boss' message. Good job!

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-06 20:15

@mattc Yeah the game is supposed to end after day 6 but we did the point reward thing backwards. If we make a full version it will be fixed for sure.

klaus-peter 2020-10-06 20:15

Played it 2 times and the song in the one ending is realyl awsome! The other time I also got stuck after day 6

eugenik 2020-10-07 02:19

Controls felt clunky. Game overall fun though.

dharby 2020-10-07 04:18

Always nice to see a humorous entry. Good job!

netmute 2020-10-07 11:51

Aaaaah, it never stops! I turn keys and press buttons and scan things and nothing ever changes, it feels like my job

The sound was on point, and you even did voice acting  That was a fun entry

samurguy 2020-10-07 16:47

Like the others are saying, very funny.

scharma 2020-10-07 16:52

Nice game, super chill. The Papers Please formula was applied nicely, with a more chill theme, which made it kinda relaxing. Congrats!

nocity 2020-10-07 22:56

Nice humor and chapeau for pulling off a Papers Please-like plus voice acting in just three days

dak001 2020-10-07 23:10

great game. nice humor and best voice acting I have ever heard xD

noah-kuhn 2020-10-07 23:16

Really, really fun game. Had a blast playing it and loved the voice lines

fabula-rasa 2020-10-07 23:22

Oh, the song at the end made me laugh so much. Voice acting was cool and the sounds as well. You did a fine job on the graphics as well. Messages for the corporate were just great and juggling corporate and public approval required some planning.

Gameplay gets so repetitive that after a while you do indeed feel like you're stuck in a loop

tomeyro 2020-10-07 23:22

I like the art style and the gameplay + music was really calming.

forgeronstudio 2020-10-07 23:54

#### Ingredients: - eggnog, which I have no idea what that even is - funny Gandalf with no beard - outstanding voice acting

Fantastic work!

maychant 2020-10-08 03:01

It's great! I slowly got super efficient as I could remember the colors and some of the ingredients. How many endings are there? I got one where I was fired before the last day, and when I complied all along I got stuck at day 6. Is there another ending for if I defied the order only on the sixth day? It's super exhausting so I'd rather not play a third time if there's not another ending.

sophiemae0 2020-10-08 04:14

This reminds me of Papers Please in a good way. The designs on the eggnog boxes crack me up. It was almost fun to be caught in this loop. Great Job :)

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-08 06:50

@maychant There are two endings that both involve you losing your job. We're working on a full version that will launch to steam which won't be as exhausting :) Thanks so much for playing it, especially twice.

@sophiemae0 Thank you so much for playing and your kind words. Keep an eye out for the steam version in December.

@forgeronstudio haha you have to try eggnog if you ever get the chance, its a beverage composed mainly of cream, milk, egg and sugar

@tomeyro Thanks a lot!

@fabula-rasa Thank you :)

@noah-kuhn Thank you so much! perhaps you'll see more of the infamous CEO in our full version on steam

kaisenthegreatone 2020-10-08 07:50

Very fun. Voice acting is on point. Would like to do some taste tests too :D The nog with too much cream really got me  . Gonna do everything for the company. Sometimes it's hard to get the color test right though.

curly 2020-10-08 12:58

An interesting presentation of the game in the form of 1 level as 1-day and as I understand the game has many endings, pretty good, in general, in a small amount of testing time, I liked the game

chocolat-endive 2020-10-08 14:34

Really nice! I appreciated the overall humour in the events and the CEO lines. I didn't realise at first that I could click on the screen to get the ingredients for a particular batch, but I finally found out on the second day by clicking all around.

sollu 2020-10-08 15:22

GOTY

c0nt 2020-10-09 08:24

I grew strangely attached to the quality control of eggnog.

overlook-studios 2020-10-11 01:33

Really unique idea, never seen anything like it haha. I appreciated the voice acting and the overall idea you guys stuck to. The gameplay is very simple yet polished. It can get a bit slow at times and I think having a fast forward to end the day would be a good addition since getting 6 egg nogs done is really easy especially at the start. I think just from a graphical perspective having the side tabs text vertical doesn't look the best but I can see why you need it to be on the side for space reasons. Great job on the game!

roka-josh 2020-10-11 09:46

Really well done, amazingly polished, funny and very interesting. The ongoing shenanigans from corporate had me really hooked. My only suggestions would be to explain how things work a bit bitter, as for the entire first day I didn't scan any of the egg nogs because I didn't know how. Really well done!

rongo-matane 2020-10-11 09:50

Really good game! It might be the first where i followed the tutorial, as it was well presented and the narration was really cool. The setup is right up my alley, being a papers please fan. I love the feeling of getting to know the products, not even having to check anything because i already know what's wrong (just the same feeling i went for in Gorilla Taxi, with knowing the streets without having to check the map - thank you for playing :D ).

I love machines like that, though i first thought of it as a nuisance to do it every time. But i could quickly learn when to use downtime to authenticate, which felt really good, being efficient.

I only have one thing i think would make an improvment. In the beginning, the CEO tells me to "not go overboard with it". I think it would be good to only deny a sample if more than one thing was wrong, so it will stay a bit more challenging. Maybe this could also come as a second day event like "hey you did great, but 80% denied will ruin us. How about only denying when 2 or more criteria are wrong?". Or just vary the criteria in general, as in papers please - "we don't care about too little salt today".

Oh, what also just came to mind: Deciding to allow the bad samples is easy, no dilemma yet - because my boss tells me to, there is no big harm in it and it will actually harm the product that is made intentionally bad, which is good. I assume you go for something similar as in papers please, so the dilemma could be worked on.

Overall, a really good game that feels very polished and complete, and actually is fun to play :)

ninjacatz 2020-10-11 10:58

Music is very calming. I sit, sort out different eggnogs, and enjoy B)

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-11 11:15

@kaisenthegreatone Thank you so much for playing! We're working on a full version for steam with more voicelines and more gameplay!

@curly Thanks!

@chocolat-endive Yeah i wasn't happy with the screen either, we're going to work on a more tactile way to access the ingredients

@sollu haha don't know about that, but thanks!

@c0nt As did i. I had to research different egg nog recipes for this game. I think i know more than any human should know about eggnog.

@overlook-studios Yeah thats a good tip about the vertical tabs, we'll think about how to make that better for the full version. The idea was to make sure the tabs were covering the item you were checking so you had to close and open the tabs to confirm. As for the pace, that is something we noticed during our limited play testing and watching people play the game afterward as well. We're going to ramp up the difficulty and introduce more eggnog brands and more difficult machines as well as changing the quotas for the full version coming to steam

@roka-josh Thanks so much! Yeah the screen button wasn't clear enough. We're going to look into a more tactile way to present that, maybe as a stand alone button or maybe just add a blinking effect to it or something.

@rongo-matane I'm glad you liked it. Yeah we went for similar things in our games where players that played more and paid attention got a sense of progression. We're going to add more machines and make the existing one a little bit bet better with better feedback to player. We had to rush looking for sound effects. As for the progression, we also feel its a little bit lacking, we have many ideas how to spice it up for the full version. I liked your game a lot and i especially like that you took the time to write such a detailed response. If u have a discord i would love to join :) or you can join mine https://discord.gg/US6vMxP

pedrocoden 2020-10-11 17:04

Nice game!

mackandrius 2020-10-11 18:23

Nice one! I thought the music and repetitive tasks create this sort of meditative atmosphere. It was very enjoyable and funny, congrats!

sharked 2020-10-12 13:16

Not sure to get it, but interesting concept and nicely done !

omiya-games 2020-10-13 01:09

I snorted a few times, but was too pro-consumer to care about what the CEO had to say. Serves them right.

Was decently fun, with some clever design choices, such as info tabs deliberately obscuring the details you are supposed to be making comparisons to. It adds a bit of tension when trying to determine whether you've made the right call or not. Presentation was pretty good as well, with the story keeping me relatively immersed in what I was doing.

While I thought deliberate obstructions such as downloading ingredients, unlocking the judgement machine, etc. added to the tactile feel to the game and some level of tension, those obstructions were rather easy to work around, to a point where I came up with a short routine that would save me significant amount of time per carton. Another thing that sort of takes away from the challenge is the lack of change in things to judge, which makes memorization a rather useful shortcut to get more egg nog out the door. It also didn't appear getting more egg nogs out actually factored into any score, so I didn't feel rewarded for over-performing. One final nitpick is that I found the tutorial to be really long, and think it could have been shortened, perhaps by requiring the user to go through only one or two tabs, then slowly escalating the details they need to pay attention to the next day.

Still found playing this a pleasant experience.

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-13 02:20

@omiya-games Thats fantastic feedback, we agree with all of those points. Our full version of the game will slowly introduce testing requirements to the player over time. This will make the beginning tutorial much shorter. The game will get harder as it progresses and the machines and test will become more complicated. You have a good sense of what needs to be changed because our thoughts are exactly the same as yours. Thanks for playing and thanks for the thoughtful feedback

@mackandrius Thank you very much!

@pedrohph Thanks!

@sharked ahh perhaps our tutorial needs to be more clear and shorter

jmoocow2003 2020-10-15 04:01

This was a fun game. I liked the kinda relaxed feel it had with it, and the music. I also liked the voice acting and art style. Overall a very good game, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it in the future :)

coryru 2020-10-15 04:02

This made me laugh really hard. I honestly sucked at this game and that is on me. I loved the Papers Please feel to this game and I'm excited to see more. You mentioned on your stream that you were continuing on with this idea and are aiming for a steam release. Good luck and I am looking forward to seeing more.

kaldrin 2020-10-16 22:45

Wasn't expecting this type of idea for a jam, a good surprise! I like how the way it's designed makes so the player, like the employee he is would do, ends up finding speedrunning methods to do his tasks as quickly as possible, that'd be by memorizing the required information or optimizing the transition times and even the display bug that display the next data if you send while it's loading xD

I liked the humor of it, pretty cool, and the russian accent makes it even better!

The game crashed after the eggnog blogger died though

I'm not quite fond of the way you interpreted the loop theme, I mean these are more or less levels one after another even if yes they are quite similar and such an employee you could say they're stuck in a routine loop but, idk, I think this not very loop-ish, my opinion though ^^

Doesn't make the game any less good though, don't worry! The audio is very good, repetitive but not annoying, like it should be because our position is repetitive.

I tried not listening to the CEO nad doing my job but I got fired :c

Also clever point to make so you can't have both the classified information and the actual current eggnog infos displayed at the same time, it forces smoothly the player to memorize them, which is more interesting in terms of the intended experience, and makes them faster in the long run!

Congrats for this entry! It was pretty fun ^^

harmadillo 2020-10-17 13:23

Fun game. Loved the style and humour.

jenny-bourke 2020-10-18 00:16

Cool game! I don't think I played it correctly but I liked the eggnog rap

pee-thief 2020-10-18 02:06

love the nog rap

shakedimus 2020-10-23 00:01

hahah the text and voice-over was really funny. I also felt the pressure to do well. I had a laugh but I wouldn't call this game fun. I don't know if I didn't play long enough but I think it needs some more mechanics to really keep people interested. Graphics were nice and sound effects fitting and the voice-over was done well. Good job overall

matootsy 2020-10-24 15:28

Funny concept. Very clean desktop interface. Nice art and audio. But for me The fact that we must put the key and turn it, then put the finger then push the joystick then a button again is funny at the beginning, but really annoying at the end. It give the mood, but a shortcut would be nice. I felt the routine of this job. It's a bit in the theme in this way. In short, good entry, funny small game.

malai 2020-10-25 15:51

Nice voice lines :D Good humor, in the end i want berserk and ruined the factory xD

coleslaughter 2020-10-25 22:28

[We played your game on stream this weekend!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/781046795?t=00h27m24s)

As a fan of Papers Please, I can definitely say you nailed the stressful rapid-fire analysis gameplay. I also like how I slowly warmed up to the 3-factor authorization system. First I thought it was unnecessarily convoluted, and then I learned how to min/max the time spent on it and it turned into another little fun thing I had to micromanage. Awesome job all-around on this one!

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-26 05:52

@coleslaughter Just watched your vod haha, lots of great ideas for nog puns! Nogturnal was my favorite. Thanks so much for playing, we're going to make a full version for steam and i'll try my best to include as many of your puns as i can :) Be sure to check out the talk show channel on the in-game radio for the steam version if u decide to buy it

vphyre 2020-10-27 02:20

Your game is very different and unique. I like the graphics, as well as the sound and the dubbing. It is fun the mechanics of analyzing a product to check if it meets the quality requirements. The controls are simple and functional. In general it is an interesting experience. Congratulations.
