The in-game tutorial is fantastic. It doesn't feel out-of-place and it does do a good job at explaining things.
The guiding arrows are another nice game design touch.
The music fits the game too. It's one of those games that switch the music depending on the situation. It's always a good touch when executed properly. The only thing that kinda annoyed me is that it gets too loud when you lose. I get the idea, but it hurts my ears. My sound levels are usually quite high to fit the average sound level of the game. When some sound is x2-3 times louder than any other sound in the game, it creates this unpleasant feeling of "this is too loud".
The sound effects are good as well. It's a good touch that defeating the monsters inside your zone of comfort makes this pleasant sound.
The platforming + danger area combination works well together. Sometimes it feels like a puzzle because you have to consider the time it will take for your comfort zone to catch up with you.
I really like the feel of jumping in this game, the controls are responsive enough. The movement in general is a bit different though: it's too fast. I can do a jump well, and then run off the platform after landing on it.
The game stutters a bit in the beginning when playing a web build. Maybe a little loading screen could help there?
The graphics are simple, but they do their job and fit the gameplay.
Regarding the comfort zone: I failed to understand what affect its speed. Sometimes it gets back to me almost instantly. The other time it's so slow. Some other time it just stucks somewhere until I "drag" it by entering it again. It feels inconsistent.
It's unclear what's the purpose of HP. It looks like the monsters are instant-kill, no matter how much health you have (you usually have ~20 due to the danger zone).
Difficulty-wise, it's quite hard. :D It's not a casual jumping puzzle platformer. I tried 3 times and found my demise pretty fast. The tutorial was the most straightforward part for me. :D A game this hard could benefit from either occasional checkpoints or smaller levels.
I think I'll come back to play this game some more on the record; I added it to my list.
Overall, great job. It's quite polished for a jam game to be honest. Extra points for making a web build of a game. It's much-much easier to test the game this way.
If you like this review-like comment, please consider doing the same for my game. :)
The game protagonist reminds me of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. :D
Nice game! I think you have developed the topic well. Its innovative and the gameplay is very intuitive.
The idea is pretty novel as far as I can see. At least, I can't remember anything similar. The comfort zone's movement sometimes confusing. For example, it doesn't follow by character after jumps into higher platforms. So I was have to moving slighter far and the return back.
The menu is nicely integrated with the game.
I didn’t immediately realize that you could "collect" enemies in your comfort zone. I tried to jump over them within the comfort zone :)
The first impression is that this is a fast platformer where you need to have time to react to the zone. In reality, it's almost a leisurely, measured walking simulator.
One of the bugs is that the comfort zone does not always follow the player. Often I had to go back for it to start responding to the player’s movements again. Or hit my head or against the walls, which also “repaired” the zone movement.
And music. I really didn’t want to be outside my comfort zone. It's cool.

Hello @irinaM @anper,
The in-game tutorial is undeniably impressive, seamlessly weaving into the gameplay and proficiently directing players through the mechanics. Additionally, the arrows in the background serve as valuable aids in player guidance (although I would suggest considering a brighter color for improved visibility).
The concept of the comfort zone is intriguing, but it seems that leaving the zone doesn't result in player death, and you're left with 34 HP. I'm uncertain if this is intentional or a potential oversight.
The transition in music when departing the comfort zone provides excellent feedback to players.
In conclusion, outstanding work! This game demonstrates a remarkable level of polish.
To echo what others are saying, loved that the tutorial works so well at establishing the basics and then immediately puts you into the game to implement what you've learned. The contrast between the tense mood outside the comfort zone and the soft mood inside it was really wonderful too. Nicely done all around!

Amazing game! Really innovative on the design of comfort zone. The music is match and reinforces the atmosphere. Especially when the I leaves the comfort zone, the music actually made me pretty intense. There are still some work can be done with graphics. Overall a fantastic work!

Only a black screen with music for me unfortunately.
For the theme, the only thing that fits is the comfort zone. Graphics can be improved but for a game maded in 3 days it's good. What I liked about this game is the music, which changes when you step out of your comfort zone. Overall, it's a good game.
Really cool idea and a unique take on the theme. I felt like the comfort zone followed me very slowly and I spent the majority of the game waiting for the zone to catch up.

Very good tutorial! However there could be improvements made on the level design where the level feels pale after some exploration. Perhaps adding more mechanics related to the mechanic of comfort zone will make the game more dynamic. But overall great little game!
I found the concept of the confort zone to be really interesting! Yet i found it a little bit slow, so the rithm of the game Is a little troubled by that to me. I think this could really benefit of a fastest rithm, made like a core precision platformer or something. But very cool! I loved the idea of integrating the main menu in the game, it was really cool and the tutorial is amazing :) The music gives a good vibe too and the movement of the character is fast and responsive, really liked it! Good game! :)

Interesting mechanic with comfort zone!
It became very easy once I found that the zone will follow you if you get very far, I don't know if it's intentional design.
Music fits it quite well too

I liked the main mechanic of the comfort zone and the fact that you can hop when lightly pushing the jump button. However, it seemed to be a bit too slow for my taste and I think a smoother transitioning from the comfort to the outside of comfort music would have helped. Immediately cutting one on to the other was quite jarring.

Oh, very nice. I really like the concept and the mood of the game. Getting out for the comfort zone feels really trippy :) Great entry !

Good idea! Graphics is clean, and the use of music in the game is pretty well. Just a few thoughts: Is the difficulty too low? The fact that the character hp auto regenerates makes the concept of enemies and losing health outside of comfort zone ineffective. Most of the time, all I need to do is rush through without any real consequence. Even when your health is low, just have to wait for a while. But overall, I think this game is great and has a lot of potential for expansion. More abilities and interactions with the comfort zone would be fantastic. I'm really looking forward to it! Great job!
Nice idea. loved the music, very fitting.

That moving comfort zone seems like it would be hard to code. Well done with that! I found myself getting tired of moving slowly with the zone and ended up running ahead and waiting for it to catch up, which I guess really ties into the message of getting out of your comfort zone. Good use of mechanics to tell a story!
Nice! Managed to get to the end and it was a really cool concept. I couldn't quite work out the mechanics of the comfort zone and how it moved but maybe that's the point! The sound when you leave your comfort zone is absolutely terrifying and I think that's great. Really adds to the anxiety of it. Great work!
For a ludum dare game, this is really well polished, nice work with the tutorial. I gave you a pretty high audio rating, I thought the music and effects when out of the comfort zone were really cool.
For the mechanic itself, its unique and interesting, but in its current state it basically just makes platforming more tedious, since you try to push your comfort zone where you want it. However, I think if you had time to flesh it out, it could be cool - like certain things can only be done outside of the zone, and maybe some enemies are only dangerous when in the zone or something. The high speed when out of the comfort zone was cool, add to that!
Good work and congrats!
Very fun!

The game concept is really interesting. I wish the comfort zone would fallow player a bit faster, it gets stuck sometimes. Some more game mechanics would be nice, but I get that there is just so much you can do in limited time. Besides that, that was fun game to try!

Awesome and clever concept fits great with the theme! I enjoyed the minimalism. One thing I didn't quite figure out was why sometimes my comfort zone didn't follow me until I moved maybe further away, is there some factors that prevent it sometime? Anyways, really good work.
The concept of comfort zone cleverly fits the theme.
The music and music switching are quite good.
It would be great if we could express a deeper theme through the concept of 'comfort zone'.
Loved this. It's great. Wonderful concept and a great use of the theme. The sound design is perfect; the instant feeling of peril when you leave your comfort zone is spot on. I didn't have any issues with the game at all. Good stuff :8ball:
I don't really understand why the light follows me in some places and not others

One of the most unique platformers I've seen so far in LD! The zone was a little glitchy (or at least not behaving the way I'd expect), other than that I really liked this. Lots of potential for speedrunning, and unique puzzles in the maps with how you move faster outside the zone than in the zone. The camera and collision were a little jerky at times but now I'm just being nitpickey.

I absolutely love the game's theme and its innovative mechanics. The choice of music enhances the overall mood of gameplay. The design of the tutorial is simply brilliant; I love how seamlessly it's integrated into the game. However, I've encountered a few issues during gameplay. The comfort zone frequently stops following me when I jump or fall, and my health points seem to be stuck at 34, inadvertently making me immortal (allowing me to cheat lol). Aside from these issues, well done!

I liked the concept and the game was engaging. I also liked how there were two different sound tracks: one for inside the comfort zone and one for outside. One small thing I would change is making the shadows brighter so the player can see where they're going.
When I play this game, I feel the concept of the game, it is the soul of the game, can attract my interest and keep them interactive.
A good concept can make a game stand out. In addition, the visuals and music of the game also had a significant impact on my experience.
The visual effects of the game screen may not be so delicate but it is also characteristic enough, and the harmony of the music combined with the atmosphere of the game makes the whole experience more pleasant.(It's so CCCCUUUUTTTEEEE)
In addition, the difficulty and balance of the game are also key elements of the quality of the game, they can ensure that the game is challenging but not too difficult.
All in all, I think it’s a great little game that has the concept, the visuals, the music and the gameplay to keep players interested and engaged.
This is a measure of the quality of a small game, and this game gives me a lot of fun.
If you like my reviews, check out my game too! Absolutely stunning! Thank you!!
Great game, very intense being outside of the lights area and the music when you are in the dark is fantastic, loved it!
Definitely wish killing enemies in the comfort zone recharged health, otherwise I'm just waiting around. Neat idea!

Brilliant on theme and innovation ... for some nitpicking: some sfx would have been nice. There are also details worthy to be mentioned e.g. the shaking the camera on environment collision, when you jump and hit the ground or just hitting the wall. Also the use of the two soundtracks as feedback for being in the comfortzone or the D A N G E R Z O N E - where you move faster, interrestingly - this was a good idea!
