Wow this is really cool!!! I was kinda skeptical at first but the voice command gameplay actually worked for me, and even picked up dialogue from a lady walking by on the phone lol. You guys/girls did a great job on this, really unique game mechanics. Didn't play for too long because I wasn't in a quite space, but will definitely come back to it.

i appreciate the attempt at emulating the cartoon styles from the 60s, and i think it turned out pretty well! the brush textures definitely helped with that.
the game's text was awkwardly worded and made it confusing for me to understand what i was doing at first, but it's not hard to get the basic plot. just some proof reading probably would have helped, but it doesn't bother me that much.
using voice commands to pilot the ship was unexpected, and novel! i think thats a really neat idea to make your game stand out more. i think i would have preferred simple forward, backward, left, right commands (i sometimes had trouble with the longer words reading my accent) but i also liked the idea of having to figure out what was what, and the standard order of the words made it pretty easy to do that once you got one or two words down.
The voice command gameplay was really good. I thought it was going to be dodgy at first with my accent, but it worked well and was pretty funny too. The art was really good too. Great job!
That was amazing! The controls were so cool, I don't think I have ever seen a game made like this! Overall a very good job, even though it got my phone boiling hot :D
Voice command! Awesome! Was difficult to remember all the pairs, writing them down helps a bit... Great visuals and sounds.
Plays pretty well, the voice command is novel. The style is just great! Nice work

I would love to try this one, this seems to be awesome ! But I don't use chrome (for reasons I won't debate here), are speak recognition tools did just exists on this bowser ? Or is this for anothers reasons ?

Voice controls!, nice
@lereveur: Thanks for the comment! Sadly our game uses Google's Web Speech Recognition API, which is currently only available in Chrome, sorry. As sad as it is, this situation makes sense, as the HTML5 Web Speech API specification was proposed and drafted by Google mainly, and it's implemented in Chrome via their own services, but I'm sure that eventually other browsers will catch up and integrate their own API-compatible solution.
Firefox for instance, has been adding a few options and changes for that, but there's no full support yet, so for the time being our game is "Chrome-only".

Thank you for your answer, I was guessing something like that. But, you know what ? I'm dumb. I have an Android phone, and Chrome is installed on it. -_- So, I tried this game, and this was very very fun to play, especially for me, because I'm french and my accent is not so bad, but I had some difficulties to pronounce correctly some words (special mention for "pepper", wich was mistaken a **very** lot of times with "paper" - and so that poor thing had to deal with some swear words for a while XD). I finally reach the end despite of this, and I laught a lot. I like a lot the art too, and the hilarious dialogues. Very well done !

I felt pretty dumb talking to my screen at work but the voice command is a really nice touch. Great work !

The voice commands really make this entry stand out, and is a unique gameplay mechanic that, combined with the robot's jumbled dictionary, requires the player to discover what each command does.
On top of that, the 80's cartoons aesthetic is masterfully done, and really got the look and feel perfectly.
Great entry!

Love the concept and the classic cartoon style graphics. I did not expect to play a voice controlled game, that was interesting. Great job.
Seems like this would be really cool but I can't get the mic to work on the game. He just keeps say "I don't understand". But looks like a great concept!
Hey @simplepotential, some notes, the game is only available on Chrome (desktop and android) because it uses the speech recognition api's that (as far as we tested) are only available there. Also, check if it was the https site, because to access the mic, it requires security. And maybe by mistake you denied the access. Anyway, thanks for trying the game!

Wow, this game is great, probably the best LD39 game I played so far! The voice command controls were hilarious. I got my ship fueled and the electronics repaired. More please!
I was a bit dubious about this, but I found that I really liked it! ...and my two-year-old in the next room thought it was hilarious. Really great job engaging with nontraditional interface, and I love the overall mood of the game too.
I will say: I ended up taking a screenshot of possible commands, because I got so sick of saying help in the first area.
Enjoyed the use of voice controls to progress the action, very cool idea. Not sure about the 'Ren & Stimpy' art style but it is campy and made me laugh to look at it. Nice job!
Cool game! An original idea and excellent graphics. Although I'm afraid my english pronunciation is not very good :D I think I need to practice more. Congrats! Really good work.

Very interesting, good work.
I really like the idea with the voice commands, very innovative! What library/engine did you use for voice recognition?
@guckstift we used the html5 [speech recognition API](https://shapeshed.com/html5-speech-recognition-api/)

Great little game, absolutely hilarious what it understood. I screamed 'PRESTIDIGITATION' at my phone and it got what I was saying. Anyway, the game was a lot of fun. Loved the art style and execution, though I'll admit I cheated and wrote down the commands because my short term memory is awful.
I really, really enjoyed this. It's extremely creative, and all the elements work together to create a thematic atmosphere. Really excellent work by your team!
I was about to suggest adding music, but then realized, it uses the microphone...
If you do another jam, I would be interested in working with you as a musician.

Hahaha, that was fun. I left the entire goal of he game, and kept trying out commands with my kids and keep laughing. Loved it, and it's super fast loading time.

Wow! Graphics are really cool & Use voice commandes for move the ship is a good idea! I still can not make him understand platypus but it's funny :D
Nice work!
That was a lot of fun, and very amusing. Everything works really well. I hope that you make this into a larger game, because I want to see all those commuters sitting on the train bellowing "platypus" into their phones.
My wife tells me that next time we go on a trip, she's going to give me directions using these commands. I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell the difference.

Hehe, that was fun! On my phone I always had to press twice the button as the first time would fail straight away... dunno if that's a known bug! Otherwise it all went fine!

I loved this game! Both ideas were really unique and fun, and I liked the challenge of having to figure out and remember commands. I especially liked the second game; the voice commands were a perfect addition to a nice little logic puzzle. Well done!

The gameplay idea was great! i really like it! i hope you turned this into a full game soon!
The only "bad thing" for me, didnt had all the comants at sight every time, maybe add a clickeable notepad with all the comands is a good idea!, the need to say help every couple of seconds was a bit annoying :grimacing:
Good job! Enjoyed this a lot. The voice commands twist is pretty nice and it works perfect.
I loved this! This is a novel idea, and it's one of my favorite LD entries so far.
To illustrate some of my fun:
- Me: VERIFY == Computer hears: "Is there a fly"? - XD... I guess this has more to do with the Google interpretation, but I still enjoyed it XD
- Me: GALAXY WINDOW BANANA APPLE SPACE PLATYPUS FATHER WINDOW BANANA - XD XD XD
- Me: TOMATO POTATO - need I say more?
The graphics are fun, great!
I can't say I noticed the audio much, but it didn't hinder me in any way. Maybe some suitable music would help?
Overall GREAT entry. Loved every moment of it!

Hahaha! This one was hilarious! The voice commands actually worked really well for me. I was confused at first why the commands are all weird but than realized the robot said his translator circuit was broken so it all made sense. I think that the two biggest things that are missing from the game are some music (maybe something like Happy Go Lively to go with the AMAZING ren an stimpy-esque cartoon style, obviously not that exact track but something like that) and funnily enough some voice acting for the robot. Voice acting can be a bit of an ask as it appears like something not used often in LD games, but I think it could add even more humor to the game. Other than that this was a very novel game.
That was fun x) I'm not english so my accent is terrible, but I manage to make me understable to the robot x) Congrats for this awesome game :)

Hey! very interesting idea! funny voice commands haha
but if I but if I but if I buttefly beautify but if I but if I but if I ..
verify !!!
xD
Art style was great, gave the game some character. Voice commands worked very well. Overall, I think the game is well polished for a jam game and I am excited to see you all experimenting with voice commands! My main criticism is that while the keywords are entertaining and add more character, I spent too much time just going back to the help sequence to remember a few words. I think there is some interesting ground to explore with the idea of discovery and association between words and actions. As the game stands now, there is too little word discovery/association and too much memory/recall. I personally would prefer more complicated word combinations, but once found they stay on screen as a reference. Thanks!
Excellent idea!

Nice job, team! I found the idea of voice commands very cool, so 5 stars in innovation. I would have enjoyed this game better in fullscreen. It looks pretty solid and worked so, good entry :)
Nice change of pace from the other games out there. I thought the first round was pretty funny and a good twist to the normal voice command type stuff. I thought the game was REALLY well paced, I thought it was going to maybe get repetitive but you knew how to pace your game just fine. The art is absolutely amazing and very professional looking, to the point where it's almost unfair :). Great job!

Holy shit, this game is genius. I really wish there was more, because the two minigames you had were both very solid applications of the voice controls, and I had lots of fun with both of them. The graphics were also solid and the dialogue was quite funny. Honestly, it's hard to come up with any suggestions on how to improve this. One thing: I ended up writing all the words down so I could refer back to them, but this could have pretty easily just been in the game, and I think would have made it more user-friendly.
I'm also really impressed at how accurate the voice recognition was. Technology these days, man.
Anyways, this was great. I had a lot of fun the whole way through, and everything was very polished. Awesome job!
Really unique concept for gameplay, I liked the twist, although I have to say the gameplay felt a bit boring after you figured out which commands to say. That said, I loved the art style and the UI, reminds me of Hanna-Barbera animation (I'm guessing that's what you were going for). Overall, cool idea for incorporating voice commands, good art, but could use a bit of improvement to make the gameplay itself more enjoyable.
Ingenious idea and extremely well designed . Even the fact that it works on Android makes it so professional ! Wonderful work !
Good graphics and game Design. I loved the art! The audio fits as well!

I am amazed at how well the voice commands function. It even censors swear words. It was really fun trying stuff out. My only real complaint would be that the possible commands you can say are not always on screen, you either have to memorize them, ask for help more often or write it down.
At the cable section, after getting [Spoiler] Tomato-Potato right, i thought all the other connections had to rhyme as well. That would have been a nice addition.
The sound effects are really nice and blend well into the game. A little bit of music would have been cool too.
Overall pretty fun to mess around with :D
The game mechanics are great. I love the idea!
How did you do the voice recognition? Some post mortem would be cool about that!!
@pavel-kouril: We used the [HTML5 Speech Recognition API](https://shapeshed.com/html5-speech-recognition-api/). We can definitely elaborate a bit more on that in a post-mortem. Thanks for your comment!
And really, thanks **everyone** for all the feedback!

Well, an instant 5 points for innovation. Didn't expect to see any voice recognition entries on here :)
I really like the graphical style. Reminds me of those "edutainment" games we had at school when I was a kid.
The Audio is also excellent, but lacking in having some nice bgm to go along with it.
Overall this is a great entry. Fantastic job guys :)
Wow how cool of an idea is this. Very Clever:)
I never ever played a voice recognition game before,
the sound it's a bit disturbing take care with it haha ;D
In games like that, i belieave that the hardest part is to do great mechanics, but you did it ok :D
Thanks mrtwister, elmismopancho, mspawa, and Ignius :)
wow! really cool!! great entry.

I've seen a few games that reacts to sounds/noise, it's really cool to see one made for a LD! Great concept, id' like to see more!
Great idea. Great execution. Great job. It kept thinking I said 'hope' instead of 'help', but the other commands worked fine. Well done!
The idea seems nice at first, but I'm on vacation, and I don't have a microphone with me. Also, the background noice would probably mix the commands anyway...
I can't give a fair rating as I can't fully play it, but the graphics that I saw at the beggining seem nice, so extra points there, I guess...
I have not seen an entry like this before. Nice idea and very unique. Clever but not hard to grasp. Good job
Very original idea! I had never played a voice recognition game and it worked way better than what I was expecting.
It's just a bit difficult to remember the commands so I spammed the help option a lot :p
Overall a very good game, with a great mechanic and very well built. Congratulations :)

One of the coolest games i have tried! Great controls, beautiful graphics, good sounds, great humour!
cool. English is not my native language. I have a serious problem with the pronunciation for the robot. This is a great game to learn pronunciation.
