Fun little platformer.. I was weirdly transfixed with the player character while I played. Very unsettling. I didn't realize at first that you could jump higher by double tapping the jump button faster so I was briefly stuck on level 3. :P I quite liked your interpretation of the theme, it kind of reminded me of the game Flower.
I loved the battery loss/gain mechanic at play here, really well implemented. I died a bunch of times but the levels are so fast and quick to restart that I had no problem sticking it through to the end.
If I had one bit of feedback about the final boss it's that it's not necessarily made clear earlier in the game that you can jump off walls to gain the necessary height. Maybe a level or two earlier that have platforms with enemies on them that can only be reached by jumping off the walls.. some way of teaching through gameplay that it's possible, for players who didn't instinctively test for wall jumping from the start.
Anyway, with more levels, polish and development I would readily pay 10-15 bucks for a game like this on Steam. Great job.
Fun entry! I love the approach to the assets, and would love to see this expanded on with more time for polish. It was unclear to me at first what was happening when I beat a room because I tended to be in the center, and didn't notice the trap door appearing, but I realized what was going on on my second attempt.
The gameover/credits screen music is hilarious. :)
Great little game, absolutely hilarious what it understood. I screamed 'PRESTIDIGITATION' at my phone and it got what I was saying. Anyway, the game was a lot of fun. Loved the art style and execution, though I'll admit I cheated and wrote down the commands because my short term memory is awful.
@chris-coe - Sorry about that. The ship moving on its own is intended as it's always being pushed around slightly by the exhaust "bubbles". It just wasn't picking up your inputs. The game will default to analog stick controls if it detects a controller is plugged in, otherwise it'll be WASD. Not sure if there's a bug with controller support so I've uploaded a keyboard only version with the controller support removed.
Great bit of feedback about usability that I hadn't considered though, thanks! :)
