That was a nicely meditative experience. I had some trouble attaching the wings - first with actually identifying what they were, and second with getting in the correct position for the slot to actually show up. But I did it and surprisingly most of the other parts were relatively intuitive.

risingleaf 2023-05-02 06:08

Assembling my own spaceship was definitely a fun and entertaining puzzle. But how is this game related to the theme?

mlists 2023-05-02 06:15

I really enjoyed it! 3d puzzle is a genre of game I didn't know I wanted. Maybe giving all of the pieces at once would be a good way to increase difficulty?

chompdev 2023-05-02 06:21

@bmacintosh - Thanks for the kind words! Glad you were able to figure out the wing placement; I agree that it could definitely be smoothed out a bit.

@risingleaf - Happy to hear you had fun! Yeah, our original idea was to have ship parts delivered to you through the warpgate, and then you'd assemble them and manually pilot the ship to its final delivery point. We ran out of time today and didn't get to finish the ship flight/delivery part. Thanks for playing! :)

@mlists - That's really nice to hear! Thanks for the encouragement. I love that idea of having multiple parts at a time and trying to figure out which order to install them. I'm definitely excited to explore some ideas like that in a post-jam version!

daniillenin 2023-05-02 06:21

Relaxing game with great atmosphere of space void and loneliness. The only thing i wanted after is to shut she doors and fly that star system around...

jampla-games 2023-05-02 06:36

Mission Completed! Enjoyable game. Good balance of easy pieces, medium, and tricky ones. Some good clues with color dots and then the highlighted area when your there felt good too.

jimmybobb 2023-05-02 08:34

Nice Relaxing ship builder, I always love the feeling of floating around in outer space in games. Impressive game mechanic for the short amount of time. As per you other comment, I can totally see how you would have run out of time for more gameplay. Well done on submitting!

bopohx 2023-05-02 22:53

cool visual picture. nice music! cool idea! good game

aivaxela 2023-05-02 22:59

nice little space atmosphere with this one, little sad that I didn't get to fly my freshly built ship!! but I understand the time crunch is real. took me a fat minute to figure out where the piece that covers the windshield went lol!

wolfier 2023-05-02 22:59

I liked this a lot, i feel if there was more time in ludum dare you could make a game out of this i could play for quite a long time.

My only criticism is that some of the parts i was like "what am I looking at" and kind of wish they had names.

tomas-paim 2023-05-02 23:05

That was very relaxing. My favorite part was going inside the spaceship I just built and installing the doors lol

braveskin 2023-05-03 07:25

Quite a chill space-Lego sort of game! The design of the gate was particularly cool. I wouldn't have minded if it were more difficult, perhaps by having more than one part to place at a time.

colinweiss 2023-05-03 09:12

The game assets are twice the result with half the effort.

klausklapper 2023-05-03 10:02

Interesting take on the theme and unusual genre. It worked really well for me, I enjoyed the lush joy of simply putting together (what I hope will be my) space ship. Visuals are very basic, but get the job done. Audio works well. I didn't encounter any bugs either. Reminds me a bit of this Indie game where you have to cut apart old space ships (can't remember the name right now), just the other way around. Definitely good fun. Great job!

krassenstein 2023-05-03 17:56

Such a relaxing game, thanks for letting me play this on stream, you can find your timestamp on this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1jjtp0dcDg

@daniillenin - Thank you for playing! Glad you found it relaxing. We really wanted to allow the player to use the cockpit and fly the ship away at the end, but had to cut that feature on the last day. I'm looking forward to trying that in the post-jam version! :)

@jampla-games - Awesome, glad you reached the end! Thanks for the balance feedback. I'm happy to hear the highlight was a helpful feature.

@jimmybobb - That's nice to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you for the nice, helpful comments :)

ltyrosine 2023-05-04 02:56

Really loved your game. I have and old dream of one day creating a game where player walk inside ship, land on planets and so on, this ship looks so prepared to it. =)

Very nice and relaxing game, congrats.

leyamez 2023-05-04 05:37

Loved everything about the game! wish there was a bit more guidance on where parts might fit sometimes, but was really fun otherwise! loved the music it meshed so well with the game :)

chybby 2023-05-04 07:31

Good job on the warp gate effect and the space background.

I liked that you eventually had to go inside the ship to install the final parts.

I got stuck on the bit that went under the ship for a while.

fabula-rasa 2023-05-04 09:54

Pleasantly relaxing, almost meditative experience. Music is very well-chosen and compliments the general atmosphere. Ship graphics are simple, pleasant and clean. It was a pleasure to build it. Movement felt fluid and I encountered no bugs.

I wish there would be a bit more creativity allowed in how you assemble things. Or maybe allow me to paint i after I'm done building :smile_cat: But I guess that would be a very different game.

Great job overall. And thank you for a small detail of allowing me to admire my creation after I was done building, instead of just quitting to the menu. Great jam job!

daniil-vakhrushev 2023-05-04 15:01

Meditatvive "clamp stuff togaether till it works" game. Good job. Space feels very nice.

ping78 2023-05-04 17:55

What a nice and relaxing experience. Mouse sensitivity option was a nice little addition. One small nitpick: Why (Space and C) and not (Space and Shift/Control) or (Q and E)

"fly the ship away at the end, but had to cut that feature on the last day" Noooooo!!!! :frowning2:

Anyway, Nice work.

chompdev 2023-05-04 18:47

@bopohx - Thanks! Glad to hear you liked the visuals and music!

@aivaxela - Haha yeah that window piece and a few others can be a bit tricky! Flying away at the end of the level would be so cool - I look forward to adding that feature after the jam :)

@wolfier - Thank you for the kind words, Wolf! That's excellent feedback about part names. That was actually part of the original design but had to be cut on the last day. I think you're right that it would add a lot to the game.

shiiro-10psi 2023-05-04 23:19

This was a nice little puzzle. It was a little bit hard to tell how far way the parts that I was holding actually were.

emeraldalkemist 2023-05-05 17:47

It's a good game overall, but I wish you could fly the spaceship. The graphics are great and the music fits the game well.

alexkik1515 2023-05-06 09:02

i like the game. Music and graphics are is very good also)

yoddaa 2023-05-06 10:29

very good and relaxing game. I love the idea. good job.

skleembof 2023-05-06 17:02

I really like this idea of building a ship piece by piece and trying to figure out where they go with subtle visual cues on the pieces. It forces the player to pay close attention to the layout of the ship which increased immersion and left me wanting to fly it after it was built.

ph-neutral 2023-05-08 00:01

Man, I love these kind of games. It's relaxing and engaging even with basic graphics ! Makes me want to make my own Ship-Builder game as side project. Thanks x1000 for including WASD/ZQSD/Arrows as controls. I was fearing I would have to put my fingers in awkward positions yet again. ^^ Also the only problem I had was that I didn't see you could move Up/Down so I was stuck with the ladder for 5 minutes. My bad tho. The game itself is a good prototype of a finished game I would pay money for. Keep up the good work :)

rapture 2023-05-08 19:17

Camera is a little messed up, but experience overall is very pleasant.

solidhinken 2023-05-08 19:20

I've enjoyed building my own spaceship. Got me hooked right away!

alchemic 2023-05-09 07:22

What's here is good, but I really wanted to drive my ship at the end!

I like the part snapping, it seems to work well. Though when it came to the doors, I feel like numbering them was unnecessary, I would have liked to place them in any door frame.

The snap spots underneath the ship took me a little while to find.

I've been playing a bit of Hardspace Shipbreaker recently, and this is like, the opposite of that lol, so it feels a bit strange.

I like it!

stingby12 2023-05-09 08:46

I feel like a bunch of these Ludum Dare games are really specific in terms of audience. This game was really boring for me, but I guess the point of it was to make a **glitchless speedrun any%** of it or something ?

arron-fowler 2023-05-09 11:00

I liked the look of this and although I found the controls a bit baffling to start with I got into the flow. I think a bit of a hint early on as to where things needed to go might have got me into it a bit quicker. I had a nice mellow time playing it though. Good work

oddballdave 2023-05-10 20:17

An interesting idea, and that sets it apart from most of the entries. I was really enjoying putting my ship together. Unfortunately half way through the mouse controls glitched out and I couldn't get it back to a point I could continue. What I played was fun though. It looks great, and the simple visuals help the gameplay. Great entry.

Good stuff :8ball:

chompdev 2023-05-10 20:40

@tomas-paim - Thanks, Tomas! I'm happy to hear you found it relaxing. Yeah I really wanted to add more internal components like the doors but didn't have time for everything else. It's nice to hear that was enjoyable!

@braveskin - Much appreciated! That's really great feedback. I definitely want to explore some more difficult puzzle ideas after the jam. On the first day of the jam, we actually had multiple parts the player could install at one time, and we ended up streamlining that later with the one-at-a-time objectives. I totally agree with you that it ended up on the easy side :)

@colinweiss - Thank you for the kind words, Colin! I'm slowly learning that during jams, very often "less is more".
