Well done! I really like the take on the concept, although I think that first screen you get is kind of daunting because there's so much to remember, but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty fun! If only I had this many trophies ;-;
It was fun to protect the trophies, I tried to protect mainly those in the center. I like the animation when the guys "boom". Well done

The pacing of the attack is good, love the subtle differences in enemy classes (hair, jetpack, etc.). I do miss a boss fight though, but it could be fun to see a boss try to grab 3 or 4 trophies, stuff them under its armpit and scurry away.
Love the tools and the overall idea. Great job!

Pretty fun! Felt like an old-school flash game.
Agree that the tutorial screen was a bit much, but it makes sense if you go through it -- blue guys destroy acid and lava, etc. I was expecting acid and lava to last longer and be more semi-permanent defenses -- since they got destroyed so quickly, I didn't see much point to them over the pump weapon. Also agree that a boss enemy would be pretty cool.

Got 558. Fun! Losing feels a bit sudden, didn't understand at first why I lost. It would make more sense that you lose when all trophies get carried off screen. Music is pretty good. Good job!

@vgel Thank you for playing! The lava, acid and ice are not that useful, and least until you get a lot of crystals, then you can spawn large fields of them at once. At least that was the intended mechanic, but maybe I screw up the balance.
@sharploaded Nice highscore! I completely agree with losing condition. The problems that I was not able to solve with that, if there is only one trophy left on the screen: - player gains score based on number of trophies on the ground, so having one trophy left does next to nothing for the score, - it is really easy to defend last trophy, and I wanted for the end to be inevitable with the spirit of the theme.
I should have spent more time on this one.

The game concept is funny and have a rather complex mechanics, and it's fun to play too! My suggestion is that I feel the feedback of attack is not clear, I can't tell which one I attacked and they explode far away from where I clicked, and sometimes it seemingly not attacking properly, it made choosing which to click a bit messy. But overall a good game, well done!

@yulotomorrow Thanks for playing! I made it so every time you hit an enemy it knocks them off away from the mouse, so defending the trophies would have been easier, but the feeling of hit and the visual of that are not great, so i understand the confusion :) And yes, there is a bug when sometimes it hit does not register. I tried to fail it, but I couldn't figure it out :( Thank you for feedback.

I understood the tutorial screen just fine. Glad I went through it, otherwise I'd have thought the blue ones just going through fire is a bug. (I did notice that the bike-pump does something weird to the blues, their sprite goes dark and it moves a bit over the map.)
Also the keys on top showed as 1, 2, 4, 3 for me, but I still needed to press 4 for the 4th item.
All in all decently fun, with some nice polish.
EDIT: Oh and it wasn't clear to me at first I could just move the mouse instead of click.

@remco Thank you for stopping by to play my game! If you hit (move mouse over) stickman it gets knock back from the mouse and turns red-ish for a moment. I must have messed up number order. It should be of course in order: 1, 2, 3 and 4. Not sure how that happened, XD And yes. You need to just mouse over the opponent to hit them. I did not want to make player click so much :)

This was a fun game, I didn't mind the pictogram instructions but they could be condensed. I would have liked it if some of the weapons stayed for longer, like the lava. But the pop sound effect was addictive and I played through a few times. My high score was 525.

The starting screen was a bit overwhelming before i realised it's much simpler than it looked. Took me a while to realise the pump worked on proximity, not by clicking. I like the depth with the different tools and enemy types, it had a nice progression to it

It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but when I did, I started crushing all those little thieves. The music is a bit abrasive, but thanks for giving me the option to mute it! Overall, this has decent polish and was fun.

This was a nice game. I liked the graphics, and the gameplay was interesting. I will say I found it a lot easier to just swing the pump around everywhere - I think the game may have benefitted from making the other tools more effective and easier to use. The start screen was quite confusing at first glance, but looking at it I feel like it's made to look a lot more complicated than it really is - a lot of it could just be summarised in a few words. It also could have helped to colour the stick figures depending on what they're immune to - i.e. have the red ones be immune to lava but vulnerable to everything else. Overall though, don't let the amount of criticism deceive you into thinking I found this to be a bad game. In many ways it was very polished, which is rare for a jam game, let alone a compo game. Overall it's definitely one of the better games I've played so far.

Very nice stylized graphics! Very cool animations too! The instructions were quite a lot to take in at once, but you get the hang of it once the gameplay starts. I think introducing the different "weapons" visually over time would be a good way to decrease complexity at the start, but that takes time to implement of course (which we did not have a lot of :smile:). A very solid entry overall, good job :thumbsup:

@nathanoc I like constructive criticism, so I'm thankful for it! I'm not too happy with how the gameplay turn out myself, so all suggestions are welcome (the color suggestion in great). That is really nice high score! And thank you for your kinds words.
@munkkeli Happy to hear you like the animation. I'm not good at animating, so it was really hard for me to create a decent running animation, and I wanted to get it right, since it was the thing the player would see through most of the time. My first idea was to go with harder and harder levels that would introduce new weapons and enemies, but you guess it correctly, time was an issue :) You can even find some leftovers from my plans in the source files, like: sprite of next weapon - bear traps and walls that supposed to be obstacles to the enemies. Only managed to reach 421 points. I love the little guys with the jetpacks! Great work with all the trophy grabbing characters! Cool game. Sort of part tower-defence part something else. Well done!

Fun arcade game type thing, I like that it is more of a unique spin on your typical zombie game. You know, you're not just a dude shooting stuff. Which makes this unique and also more fun. It fits the theme very well and there is nice audio cues when you do things.

Seemed like there are some really cool game mechanics, but the help page was too much at once (maybe a tutorial that explains one thing at a time would be better), and the game was too hectic for "learning by doing", so I mostly just used that car wheel pump to beat up the enemies until the "special ones" came and I lost. :sweat_smile: Making complex game mechanics easily understandable is a very difficult task especially for a game jam, though, so... still, nice work! :)
Really nice job! I got 593! It escalates quite quickly from I dont need any sprays, to spraying all over and hoping you dont dissolve any trophies, which was fun. I also appreciated that there was some strategy in letting people move the trophies away from the edge and not killing them instantly. I loved all the visual effects, and it was cool to have a diverse array of enemies. Very nicely done, I had a great time.

It is trully wild haha. I love the mechanics of "inflate" the enemies and they have a good amount of variation too. Nice entry. I really enjoied the sounds, nice design. Maybe I suggest you grow the collison of enemies a little bit to make easier to inflate then. Congrats.

I had such a good time destroying these guys, until they overpowered me and took all my trophies. I loved the game, there was a lot of variety and strategy to it. When I saw the tutorial chart at first it was confusing, but after playing I could recognize what everything really meant and it was easy to understand and appreciate. It's really cool that the enemies all have distinct weaknesses and strengths. Overall, very nice and elaborate for a compo entry ;3

Very nice entry! The tutorial chart was a little bit overwhelming at first. It makes more sense after playing the game. Maybe an interactive tutorial or showing a popup like "X is effective against Y" when a new enemy type appears could be good. But it's still fine as it is. Especially for a compo game. Keep it up!

I really like the take on the theme, and the painting-on defences mechanic was really unique! It took me a while to understand what was going on but when I got the hang of it it was fun to play! Some more clear way to show what paints to use on which enemy would be nice, like maybe if you hover over an enemy type some UI could show you because the blue ones were weak to blue spray but the red ones didn't seem to be weak to red, that might just be a personal thing though. Overall, I really enjoyed playing and this is a great entry that made me want to play longer to get a better high score!

I found the controlls a little to hard. The game is great wich to see this with a little more forgiving controls( I’m not a gamer :) ) No worries I’ll rate the game on the good game and not my skills :v:
Awesome work! As others have mentioned, the tutorial screen was A LOT of information all at once, but I don't have any better suggestions of how you would convey all that information under the constraints of a compo game. And more than being overwhelmed at the tutorial, I really liked how much depth all the different interactions offer. Splitting the game up into different levels and slowly adding more and more abilities and thief types per level would help lower that steep learning curve. But again, that's not something that I'd expect for a compo game. You just have to play it a bunch to figure it all out.
I really liked the intensity of the game. It starts to get wild as all those little guys are running everywhere stealing trophies and your attention is being pulled in so many directions. The music and sound effects were great. Not distracting over overly intense when the action started to ramp up. Overall an awesome game! Really enjoyed it! Congrats!

I'm a big fan of score-attack games, and this is a great one. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out an optimal strategy. In the beginning I would only focus on defending the middle and ignoring the harder to defend "outer-trophies". This made me survive longer, but I gained less score since I had fewer trophies. When I managed my above score I defended all trophies, and saved most of my more powerful abilities until I was past 500.
It's insane that this is a compo game; the visuals, audio and variety is superb.
I think you did a great job at explaining all the mechanics with pictures, instead of a wall of text. If anyone feels confused and overwhelmed, just play the game once or twice, then look at the picture. I promise it makes perfect sense then!

Cool game, it was pretty fun and got difficult quickly, I also really like the animation. The only thing really is that the green power up says 4 but you enable it by pressing 3. Other than that, it was a great game for a compo!

Great entry! Got to 655. Great humor and fun gameplay :D Very simple but also very entertaining! Difficulty ramps up a bit too quickly towards the end. I wished the sprays were a bit more effective or that they could be used a bit longer!

Oh wow! This got hectic fast. I thought I was doing well, then all of a sudden I was overrun with trophy thieves. The power-ups/attacks are quite random, but they work nicely with the wacky premise. Some questions do remain though. Like, why have I got so many trophies? And why is everybody after them? And why am I so violently protecting them?

cool beans :) works pretty well the system where you have to mouseover the npcs several times is a bit odd to me also the screen with all the possible combinations on-screen at the start is way too dense imo ^^# id advice for you to try'n break it up into several tutorials spread over time in your next game - bite sizes :)
i'd argue it gets a bit repetitive still it works well and it's pretty entertaining gg, keep it up :)

A great compo entry! The enemy variety is a bit overwhelming at first, but after a few tries it becomes much easier. As others have said before me, it could use some more work on the target hit feedback. Other than that, it's a really solid game. And I have to applaud your choice of traditional weaponry in dealing with intruders. ;) onmt.png

Very nice! I like the icons-only tutorial screen, it helps convey the info a lot easier than a wall of text. The gameplay was hectic and fun and reminded me of some of the old Flash games I used to play :) I couldn't figure out what was the secret to the blue guys - sometimes it seemed like I needed to punch them a whole lot, others died much faster. Overall, great job on a very fun entry!

Haha this is a cute game, I really like the sound of them going pop. I was stunned on the instruction page for a while, I like that you used equations to explain the interactions, but perhaps not everything should be done with equations :joy: I kind of hope the sprayed traps could stay in the game longer or be allowed to draw longer trails, but I enjoyed playing this anyways, it was fun, satisfying, and challenging :laughing: Pretty good job especially for a compo!

It took a little time for me to get the hang of it, but after that it was fun trying to get a higher score. The tip on not needing to click with the first weapon made the game a lot more enjoyable, so I would make it stand out more in the description (e.g. moving it up higher).
The music fit the game well, and the animations are satisfying.

Neat game! I really enjoyed playing and thought the connection to the theme is done quite well :D The graphics, audio etc. are all nice too, so the only feedback I have is regarding the gameplay- it feels like a simple mouse-pointing duck-hunt type game, since the resources required to use the abilities are quite scarce and have a negligible impact on the gameplay. I also think the that, despite the clear effort that went into it, the tutorial was a bit crude, and could *really* have benefited from some text.
That said, I think the balancing with AI was just right, and I still had a lot of fun! Really impressive that you were able to make all this while in the compo- I participated in it too and made something maybe half as good as yours :sweat_smile: Good job!

As something that I can write in game description, I added tutorial as last thing to the game, so I did not have time to re-made it.

At first I didnt understand the weapon system, I got to use them only after reading the description, thats what I get for clicking space too fast.

I think that's the most terrifying tutorial page ever, still pretty cool.
I see a lot of comments asking for a slower ramp to the weapon system, but I honestly found myself not really getting all the weapons. My first run I only got blue, and my second run I didn't see any green, could have been just me missing pickups but things got more fun when I got lava for the second run.

@matthewrobo Thank you for playing my game! Yeah, the tutorial is a bit much at once :P The problem with other weapons (acid and lava) is, there are quite OP, if there are in huge quantities - I guess same as in real life XD This is why there is 50% chance of spawning ice crystal and only 25% for each acid and lava.
@zimny11 Maybe a pity system could work, where if you get too much of one crystal you have a higher chance of getting the others?

Interesting and fun, although I did end up using the bike pump and moving the mouse quickly across the screen, maybe fewer or more powerful obstacles could've been nice. And I didn't understand exactly why it game overed since there were still trophies left?

@xjcl Thanks for playing, commenting and feedback! The game ends when there is only one trophy left on the ground. The real reason for this is: it's way too easy to defend the last trophy. And made-up reason is: I didn't want the player to be left without any trophy :P
Cool game, it's a lot of fun. I like your appraoch to the theme. Nice work.

What a fun idea, I really love it. People running for all the trophies, messing with them, a fun idea for sure. The wall of rules at the beginning was really intimidating and didn't stay in my brain, I would recommend placing the effects of the currently selected weapon onscreen somewhere so the player doesn't have to commit the interactions to memory in advance. Otherwise it was fun, felt good, and was really funny.

@david-york Thank you for playing! I was planing slow introduction of enemies and weapons with each level, but the whole idea with levels was removed due to time limitation. Anyway, thanks for feedback too!
