LD44 — Your life is currency

No Pain No Gain by Hagge 2019-05-01T13:54:18Z

Oh , I really like the concept of having to balance health and "are you shooting or not" in a tower defender.

I feel it could have been balanced better to make the earliest waves easier? Maybe bullets that take less of your health, and only very weak enemies at first? Because i legit died just from not being able to get away from a gun at first.

Blood 2B Rich by brklipel 2019-05-01T02:15:32Z

I loved the guys expression when you become rich. Loved the needless clothes buying :)

invertebrae by jjjjason 2019-05-03T19:28:06Z

For me, I could not make the story progress at all. No buttons worked.

Real time by antoined73 2019-04-30T18:36:12Z

Aww, I can't download atm (and am on a mac besides right now) , but the game looks well polished and I was looking forward to trying it out.

Real time by antoined73 2019-04-30T21:25:09Z

Got home and tried it out on my windows machine :) It was really pretty, and the music was great. The controls WERE bugged, as other people mentioned, but I figured out I could get around them via always backing up and shooting in front of me. It would make the enemies get in this straight line pursuing me so i could just shoot them down in a line.

That said, I got one power up, and I couldn't figure out what it did at all?

Overall this has the makings of a really good future game :)

Sigillis by JUSTCAMH 2019-05-01T01:57:36Z

It made my computer, very, very sad. The lag meant that trying to draw shapes would suddenly jerk around? So I only managed to defeat two enemies total.

I think its a really fun concept though!

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-04-30T12:12:02Z

"I don’t think we’re meant to think strategically about this…"

Whoops, forgot to mention that there's two endings, and figuring out how to get them is the puzzle.

~~Did you know that not all blood pacts are only for your current Magical Girl? And even the ones that are might not be all that great for the girls who come after...~~

~~Having Magical Girls die is part of the learning experience, after all!~~

~~Kids and Fun (tm)~~

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-05-01T13:18:19Z

"The boosts from the pacts should be visible on screen along with blood pact cost. Otherwise it’s kind of hard to know which pact to use." Oh dang, I'd hoped it was enough for the damage to have a pact multiplier. I wish we'd had more time to polish play testing! But this is great to know for our post jam polish pass :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-05-01T13:56:05Z

"I see no link to the game, it this normal ?"

Uh. Huh. Where did the link go? Let me check dusterherz...

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-05-01T13:58:00Z

Cool, looks like Ludum ate the links. Re-added them, thanks for the catch @dusterherz :) :) :)

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-05-06T13:56:30Z

"Can’t play the game, link doesn’t work. Also, website is pretty broken - lots of relative links leading to current folder, need to make those relative to root :P “/news.html” vs. “news.html” ;)."

I'm not sure what you mean? The link seems to work overall? What website were you even going to that there was a news.html link? @magnanix

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-05-09T14:33:58Z

You got our aesthetic entirely @knightofowner :) Newgrounds was a magical time.

For your bug report, could you let us know what browser you were running in (and what version)? I know we've gotten some reports about Edge being really weird with it, but we thought we were stable in most other browsers. It'd be great to knock out a few more bugs!

I'm really glad, too, that our endings were telegraphed :) We worked hard to make a core game play loop that was accessible in the five minute suggested time limit. When we do a polish pass post game jam we'll definitely try to calibrate for a harder difficulty, though, which I think will make the game more fun overall? Your feedback seems to agree that a harder difficulty would increase the enjoyment of the game, so I'm glad we're on the same page here!

Mahou Shoujo Monster: Promised Fate by jadedResearcher 2019-05-10T18:18:56Z

Hrrm, the graphical glitching happening across browsers is a weird one, I'll keep a look out for it for reproducing. I think you're the first so far to find the zombie girls, but knowing its cross browser will help us track it down. I appreciate you getting back to me!

And I feel you, debugging can be frustrating. I'll keep your advice in mind about making sure we don't push too hard on the difficulty front :)

Earn Your Life by aCactus 2019-04-30T01:53:24Z

I liked that it let you decide if you lived a good life or not, and it made me feel like real life is that way too. You spend your time and only have so much of it.

Bet on it by Ydoc124 2019-04-30T01:43:44Z

I love the dialogue system! And the music is so chill and ambient!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Cypon by tybantarnusa 2022-10-10T20:28:32Z

I really enjoyed how fun it was to get the projectiles up as fast as they went, 10/10. I can agree I wasn't sure what the shield was for, tho I liked pushing the enemies around. (Why upgrade it? It didn't seem to get MORE shieldy?)

Oh, and I was surprised there was actually a boss, even though it was mentioned. A lot of games like these are just "survive infinite hoards", so I enjoyed that.

Someware by someoneman 2022-10-05T02:53:29Z

I enjoyed the warioware reference! The controls could be a bit finicky, but I appreciated that there wasn't too much consequences for failure, so it felt more chill and exploratory.

Avery, 10 seconds! by winniehell 2022-10-07T02:09:38Z

I'm terrible at platformers, so I didn't make it too far in, but really enjoyed the lil meer cat jumping around. The random effects were interesting, and combined with the low penalty for failure really helped give it a "trial and error" vibe.

Crash Landed by testsubject06 2022-10-08T02:34:04Z

Extremely fun! I really enjoyed upgrading the gun to shoot fast enough i could use it as "echolocation" and determine which way to to run to avoid the bugs as I looked for new places to mine. I can agree that away to better see places already mined (or partially mined, since towards the end I'd spend multiple days mining the same spot while fending off bugs) would be useful.

Also can agree the lighting engine was great!

The Tenth Second Son by Caveman54 2022-10-09T22:43:52Z

Definitely stood out compared to the other entries, loved the graphics and the music was p solid, too. I wasn't able to figure out how to beat it (the people I managed to talk to didn't really have anything important to say?), but I can see how it has potential, good luck!

It Hunts! by arkinrev 2022-10-07T02:01:10Z

I wasn't what sure the parts looked like to even recognize them if i found them so I ended up just wandering around for a few minutes lost. I liked the atmosphere of the game, it really felt ominous and foreboding.

Eventually I found the monster so I ran up to it to end the game.

Rabbit Simulator by jadedResearcher 2022-10-05T02:50:04Z

@defrag plain old javascript, html and css for the 'game'

the videos came from a combination of stable diffusion ai images in 'loopback' mode and my streams of my own zampanio fan work

Rabbit Simulator by jadedResearcher 2022-10-07T02:02:27Z

Eheheheheh Zampanio is my very favorite creepy pasta. TLDR probably a house of leaves rip off but for a video game. If you find it absolutely nothing at all spooky happens to you, you just get obsessed with it.

Rabbit Simulator by jadedResearcher 2022-10-08T02:38:26Z

@testsubject06 "I’m not even confident I’ve seen all of the content, because it feels like the content itself is actively avoiding being seen."

You get it entirely! That's the vibe I've tried to capture that I love so much about the Zampanio creepy pasta!

Rabbit Simulator by jadedResearcher 2022-10-15T16:08:26Z

"Nice! I’ve always wondered what an unfiction / arg kind of thing would look like at a game jam scale, and you nailed it."

@monika Yesss, you get it exactly.

Jam Session by Guardaro 2022-10-03T15:24:07Z

Extremely fun, and I can see how it would get addictive! I wanted to try all the different combinations of power ups!

(Sadly, the rotating lines in the background during some parts of it made me too dizzy to play for too long)

Jam Session by Guardaro 2022-10-05T04:08:03Z

OOo, i like the idea of repeats for new lives, would maybe help the difficulty curve

Eat Your Mushrooms by OnurY 2022-10-08T14:02:45Z

It was hard to find mushrooms in time by the end, and the enemies seemed to expand exponentially and would just mob me. The fact that the attacks were automatic was something it took me a while to realize. Overall I found it fun and enjoyed seeking out level ups.

Flash Scrumble by vidim888 2022-10-04T23:54:07Z

Highly enjoyed this game (my cabbages!)! I love the idea of having 6 games in one. (did find the card part a bit difficult to figure out while in rush mode, but the graphics and sound design were good and it invoked the best parts of games like wario ware)

EPOCH by Wouter52 2022-10-08T02:56:37Z

Oh, I LOVE this game, its exactly my vibe. Ever shifting labyrinth of broken code... You've inspired me. This is my fav of this jam for sure.

Kitten Space Opera by antbrl 2022-10-10T20:36:25Z

The graphics were great and the lighting effects were really fun!

10 Seconds Ambush by ironcutter 2022-10-05T21:09:37Z

Loved the bass heavy music, and the fact that all projectiles vanished after ten seconds made the genre oddly strategic. I enjoyed it. Lil hard for me.

Stop The Plague by trASSh 2022-10-12T00:14:33Z

At first I thought it wasn't working, but then I realized you could manually scroll down to get the full screen and everything worked great from there.

I found the game play a bit repetitive and hectic, but greatly enjoyed watching the colors spread around. Fun and innovative idea!

Barely Something Barely Somewhere Every Ten Seconds by shreemp 2022-10-05T02:57:32Z

I am highly intrigued and want to follow this game to see where it's going...that said, i couldn't figure out how to play at ALL (neither mouse nor keyboard seemed to do anything), but I *loved* watching the lil guys run around on screen and live their lives. (I'm a sucker for zero player games)

10-Second Magic Artist by vivyhasadream 2022-10-06T04:23:29Z

Amazing game, fun concept, enjoyed that it did its best even when I was messing with it (a single dip of paint really did end up with a mostly white canvas)

Prism Protector by Shiiro 10psi 2022-10-08T02:45:00Z

Very fun! I didn't think the match 3 genre had room to innovate, but I hadn't seen that twist on it before! I also liked that I kept trying to get in the mind set of "oh god its happening real time, you have ten seconds between firing" when I'm so used to match 3 being at your own pace.

Cat Wave RUN by CooLguNxDD 2022-10-04T23:50:27Z

I enjoyed the simplicity of the gameplay! I died basically immediately the first time but with trial and error it was chill to play and fun!

Out To Pasture! by RaspbarryGames 2022-10-04T23:57:50Z

Very pretty game, though I found the controls difficult to handle (I only have a trackpad for a mouse which might contribute) and it wasn't clear at first the sheep didn't take themselves home (they'd disappear over the horizon and then they'd be gone forever as far as my fight with the camera was concerned) Not on theme?
