I'm having some difficulty exporting the game from Godot. Guess I should have tested the export before submission hour.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD51 → Crash Landed

Unfortunately, the game only works in the Godot editor. HTML5 export has no/unreadable text - and windows export just receives no input. cool.
UPDATE: I got the font issue fixed in HTML5 export! The itch.io link is live and ready to go!
Nice graphics and sound. I am amazed how much feature you put in the game in this short time.
html 5 worked for me. this was fun! like that there's an active component to the tower defense mechanic. great graphics! sound was fatiguing
@alexander-epton yeah, I did all the sounds in the last 15 minutes of the jam. Ran out of time and didn't really have time to balance the audio. Totally valid criticism.
Nice game. Played the HTML version. It seems to way to survive is to stay far away from the pod, because then the ants does not attack it :D
@rolferm lol yeah, I actually forgot to make some ants spawn and move toward the pod. I never strayed far from it while testing, so they always attacked it too.
I've had a lot of fun in this game. The mechanics of mining and shooting are combined very well. The 2D light is better than I expected, so is the shooting experience. Great job!
I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the gameplay loop of mining and shooting bugs! It was fast and quick and I liked that you have to protect your base as well. It's very enjoyable, and easy to sort out.
This game rules. I don't know what else to say. It's simple, to the point, and a solid shooting experience.
That was really fun. I played for ~20 minutes and maxed out almost everything. It feels great to shoot and I love the footprints on the ground, not to mention the highly detailed artwork. I only wish there was a way to tell what tiles you had already mined. I also got lost because of this a few times. But yeah, this game is one of the best I've played so far for sure. Great job!
Loved it, fun mechanics and pretty well balanced. Maybe easy enough to break the opponent's AI but such a small thing. I'd be super proud of this.
@liam I have a post-mortem drafted up. The cutting room floor for this game is dense. There were whole mechanics I ran out of time for - and 5/6 enemies got left there.
Thanks for the play and the rating!
Very impressive compo game. Intense action and had a lot of fun upgrading all the options.
Had a good laugh at the: "womp womp"!
Look forward to a post-jam version!
Great job!
@jonah I've been watching streamers play it and taking notes for post-jam version. I don't want to update the itch.io link while folks are still playing and rating though - I feel like that'd be against the spirit of the event.
Extremely fun! I really enjoyed upgrading the gun to shoot fast enough i could use it as "echolocation" and determine which way to to run to avoid the bugs as I looked for new places to mine. I can agree that away to better see places already mined (or partially mined, since towards the end I'd spend multiple days mining the same spot while fending off bugs) would be useful.
Also can agree the lighting engine was great!
Very fun! I got a little bored after a while, don't get me wrong though, It's a great gameplay loop. I think if there where more enemies and less upgrades I would have been a lot more engaged. Those are just my critiques though, great entry!
Good stuff! I liked upgrading the turret into an unstoppable death machine, and the flash when firing looked great! The biggest issues were navigation: I found myself wanting a floating arrow to know which direction my home base was in and some visual indication of which areas were mined out. Nice entry!
Great game. I had a fun time trying to survive, it didn't and well though x) It feels good to upgrade your stats and the pod. I might be a bit braindead but maybe add a simple "clic to shoot" in the startup message. I agree with previous comments, the pod direction should be indicated as well as which tiles are already mined. It also seams that ants are only spawning around the player so you cant mine during the night as you're constantly under attack. Lastly i think that every game should have music, ambient or whatever, even if you don't create it, t make such a big difference in the final game.
Great game overall, good job!
game is really fun to play at the first time, upgrading is great, but past a certain time, it gets repetitive and not super engaging. but overall, keeping in mind that you only had48 hours, this is extremely well done!
(i loved how the time of the day changes the colours, it's a really nice addition, not just like full day and full night!)
